    Rice container! Very oily!!

Read a lot of good reviews about this restaurant, so we really wanted to try it out. We ordered the family package and mosaka. The food was just OK. It was a bit salty though and very oily rice and potatoes. Overall it was OK. But not great. Didn't enjoy it much. So it didn't live up to the hype.

The tiniest 11 dollar lamb chop !

Unfortunately I fail to see why this is so highly rated, it left us extremely disappointed. To start with they forgot to include 3 items we ordered, this was followed up with the moussaka and rice being flavourless. The only flavour the rice had was from the pool of oil it was sitting in, and there was so much rice included with the platter it was comical. The size of a lamb chop for eleven dollars is criminal, the lemon wedge included is nearly bigger!! The only things that were deemed edible by our group were the lemony potatoes, and chicken souvlaki wrap. I think for the price you can find much better dinner options in Durham, and for Greek.

Some dishes at Greek Tycoon are superior to those popular Greek restaurants on the Danforth, I think. I have been a big fan of Greek Tycoon for a few years, and have had their food several times, eat-in, take-out, delivery ... whenever the craving hits! This time, we ordered (Uber delivery. Dine-in is currently closed) - Chicken Souvlaki (with rice and potato, small Greek salad) - Greek Salad (large) - Spanakopita - Calamari fries I always order their Greek Salad. Vegetables are super-duper fresh and crispy! The dressing has a perfectly balanced mix of olive oil, herbs, salt, and vinegar. The lettuce (head lettuce) is crispy and had a delicate texture. Once coated with the dressing, and thrown in the mouth, it releases natural sweetness as you chew, and there is no unpleasant stringiness. Feta is softly crumbled, not too salty, and full of milk flavor. Again, so delicate. Green pepper gives you a crunchy sound as you chew! All the different textures are absolutely enjoyable. Another favorite is calamari fritters. I have not had any Calamari fritters better than Greek Tycoon. The meat is tender, and the coating is perfect. Crispy, thin, and never too salty. Chicken Souvlaki is great as always, tender and juicy. Especially- with the rice pilaf and Greek potato that came with this. The pilaf absorbs light and fresh Greek flavors - a simple side dish but savory with bursting flavor. The pilaf is cooked slightly sticky without the full-blown starchiness. Great texture, and is very different from other types of rice. Their lemon-roasted Greek Potato is another refreshing side dish that we love. These side dishes bring out the best of the Souvlaki. Having ordered different food items from here, I have found hit-and-miss. But the food items that we had today are always great! Next time, I want to order Lamb Exohiko (lamb, feta, and cheese in a phyllo pastry) - another favorite of mine!

I've been ordering takeout from Greek Tycoon for three years and it's always delicious and comes in big portions. Tonight, we ordered the moussaka and chicken souvlaki dinners. The food was ready for pickup when we arrived and hot. The moussaka was rich and flavourful. The chicken was tender and the tzatziki is tangy, but good. Each meal came with rice, potatoes and delicious Greek salad. We will keep going back!

Amazing flavourful food & warm service! Loved the food here and would surely go back soon. My friend and I ordered the bruschetta garlic bread w/cheese as an app to share, chicken souvlaki each & pasta medallions (ricotta+spinach ravioli) to share alongside Greek salads. Everything was excellent and tasted so fresh. Not to mention the complimentary bread!! So toasty and fresh. Cozy white linen atmosphere with tasteful Greek decor. Loved this place and recommend 1000x.

Nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario in Vineland, this storied establishment, housed in a structure dating to 1867, has become one of those places that quietly lodges itself in the memory and refuses to leave. We made the drive -- well over an hour -- for a Sunday brunch, and not for the first time. It is the kind of restaurant one finds oneself recommending without hesitation, not as a curiosity or a seasonal indulgence, but as a benchmark. The setting alone would justify the journey: a sweeping, unobstructed view of the lake from the sunroom and patio that shifts in character with the light, the season, and the mood of the sky above. On a clear day, the Toronto skyline is visible on the horizon -- an almost implausible grace note. But Lake House does not rest on its scenery. The kitchen demonstrates genuine culinary ambition with a menu that draws from Mediterranean traditions while remaining grounded in local and seasonal sensibility. The salmon crab cakes -- a pairing that sounds indulgent and delivers accordingly -- arrive with a pineapple and mango chutney and sriracha aioli that balance richness with levity. The Great Canadian Burger is a study in considered indulgence: brioche, peameal bacon, sweet bacon jam, and spiced maple aioli achieving a harmony of sweetness, heat, and savoriness that lingers well past the last bite. The service matched the occasion throughout. From the welcome at the door to our server Rhonda -- attentive, warm, and precisely calibrated in her pacing -- to the supervisor who moved quietly through the room ensuring that every table was well attended, the floor operates with the kind of seamless, unhurried care that is too often mistaken for effortlessness. It is not effortless. It is practiced and deliberate, and all the more impressive for it. Lake House Restaurant is a destination that justifies the drive, rewards the return, and -- in a dining landscape where so few establishments manage all three -- that is no small thing.

It would've been nice if at least one packed a bit of heat, but they're all tame, adding flavour without overpowering the squid. Thankfully, the semolina crust was excellent - crunchy, light, and not oily at all. The portion is generous and easily shareable between two or three people. A newer addition to the menu is the short rib sandwich ($34), and it's a good one. Large chunks of tender, flavourful beef are topped with sautéed mushrooms, crispy onions, arugula, and brie. The cheese adds a creamy richness that makes the sandwich stand out. The menu notes a horseradish aioli, but any zing from it gets buried under the slightly sweet braising sauce, which was too sugary for my taste. I would've preferred it kept more savoury. The sandwich is already quite saucy, and yet more sauce arrives on the side. Good for fries if you choose to switch the salad to spuds. After hearing plenty about the Great Canadian Burger ($29), I couldn't resist splitting one, though I ultimately wish I hadn't. The short rib sandwich is better. The burger is hefty, with a thick beef patty that's overly dense and heavily mixed, giving it more of a frozen-patty texture than the crumbly tenderness of a good homemade one. The potato bun also struggled to hold up against the avalanche of toppings: grilled peameal bacon, cheddar, onion, tomato, arugula, pickle, and two sauces. I'm not sure why the kitchen insists on sweetening everything - the burger comes with caramelized onion bacon jam and a maple chipotle aioli, both quite sugary. If you enjoy sweeter savoury dishes, you'll probably like it. Otherwise, I'd skip the handhelds. On our weekday lunch visit, the restaurant was well staffed and attentive. Even though we never felt rushed, we were in and out within about an hour. If anything, the service bordered on overly attentive... during that hour we were interrupted six times by four different people checking if everything was okay. My suggestion: let the primary server handle most of the check-ins, and only have others step in if things get busy.

You'll need reservations here for sure and best to reserve a table not the day before otherwise they'll have bar tops available. They have a second floor for a more private dining which is nice for small groups or couples, the washrooms are downstairs, floors are slippery - be careful! When we got there we got to choose between the alcohol side or kitchen bar, we chose the alcohol bar side since the bartender Jasmine greeted me immediately and complimented my outfit. This is a pricey place, more a high end kind of restaurant so if you're looking for a cheaper place, don't go here obviously. Food was pretty decent with what we ordered. The only that didn't stand out whatsoever was the salmon. I've been to many high end restaurants and in other countries so salmon isn't much of a hit typically. They sold out of the bass fillet and the mussels (specials for the night/week - forgot what Jasmine said) so if you want to try these, order asap! Drinks were great! I asked for a Caesar as my second/third drink and wanted a specific amount of spice, Jasmine just came with the tabasco and put the amount I wanted, thank goodness! I feel like we definitely got the best service sitting by the drinks bar with Jasmine just genuinely kind and chatting with us. We had a great time and will definitely be coming here again.

I feel like there could've been more zucchini for the price point Peppercorn steak: ($78) 8.5/10 Very tender and well-cooked steak. I couldn't really taste much of a peppercorn flavor in the sauce though. I prefer my steak on the saltier side so I asked for some salt and they gave me a small bowl of flakey sea salt (my favourite!). Lobster roll ($48): 9/10 I've never had avocado in a lobster roll before, and the flavours & textures actually worked really well together! The lobster tasted fresh and sweet. The fries were crispy and plentiful. This spot is on the pricier side, but the quality of the food, service, and ambiance is reflected in the price.
