    Chicken Gyro
    Liz H.

First time ordering from here via Uber Eats. I ordered a chicken gyro. The Uber Eats delivery felt like it took forever - at least 40 mins. The driver was sitting in the parking lot for most of this. Once we received our food I opened the gyro to find nothing but chicken, French fries, tzatziki and one sliver of onion. I ended up cutting up a cucumber and adding hot sauce to it because it felt like it needed more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I had a deep craving for some Greek food and I've tried just about all the places in Pickering, even some that aren't billed as Greek restaurants. At best, they've been okay but none have really satisfied me until now. My trusty Yelp app pointed me towards Greek Freak in Ajax, close enough to home. With four and a half stars and only one negative review, I had to investigate. They were quite busy when I arrived around 7:30pm. A lot of customers were waiting for their orders. Although there's a few tables, maybe enough seating for at least 24, it seems like a lot of their business is takeout, including UberEats. My craving was specifically for gyro but they were sold out. Darn! I considered leaving disappointed but the aroma of the cooking on the grill was too enticing so I went with the pork souvlaki dinner. Their menu is simple - pork or chicken souvlaki, and pork gyro. Meat fest. That's it. With no table service, I ordered at the counter and found a table. It didn't take very long for my order to be cooked. It was a big platter, with two sticks of pork, rice, roasted potatoes, pita, Greek salad, and their house made tzatziki - all generous portions. The pork was nicely seasoned but maybe a minute too long on the grill, making it a tad dry (for my liking). The rice and potatoes were good. The pita was very fresh and the salad very good, with just enough dressing and lots of feta. The house made tzatziki was Wow! You could call this place Garlic Freak! It's a good thing I love garlic. This tzatziki is really good! I'm going to be bold and say this is the best Greek food I've had in Durham! I'll have to come back to try the gyro. BTW, I verified that their gyro is made with layers of seasoned meat and not the preformed cones. Yesss!

One of my fav places in Pickering to grab and go. I order it to my home sometimes and have too. I am a vegetarian and I still like their veg wrap. It's more grab and go place.

It was my first time trying this restaurant. I ordered online and went in to pick it up, takes around 30 minutes and was on time. I ordered the freak dinner, which included a small Greek salad, four souvlaki sticks (chicken or pork), lemon potatoes, rice and of course tzatziki. It was a little over 20 dollars. For the amount of food it is well worth it. Everything was seasoned and cooked well, tasted fresh. Also got the pork gyro pita wrap w freak sauce, delicious and again very filling. This was enough for a family of 3 adults and we still have half a portion left over. This is not just a take out restaurant where they scoop from the counter. Will definitely be coming back.

This is the hot spot for Greek cuisine in all of Durham. I got the chicken souvlaki dinner, which comes with 2 skewers of souvlaki, Greek salad, lemon roasted potatoes, pita bread, homemade tzatziki and a bed of delicious rice. It's good value for the portions received. Everything is delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff are also very welcoming. If you order in-restaurant, do be prepared to wait about 20+ minutes as everything is cooked fresh (another bonus). I didn't mind the wait, but you can also order in advance online if you're strapped for time. Either way, I highly recommend the Greek Freak and will be a returning customer.

4.5 stars. One of the best Greek restaurants in Durham Region. Really authentic flavors, nice sized portions, and THE BEST pork gyro sandwich I have had in my life. It's a miracle how the bread holds all the toppings and doesn't fall apart as you eat it. But yes, try and get a bite with everything - the meat, bread, fries, onion, tomato. Honestly, it's a bite that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The restaurant has decent amount of seating for dine-in, but there were a ton of take out and skip-the-dishes orders, so they were busy cooking orders the entire time we were eating dinner. The Greek garden salad was delicious, feta was creamy and not too salty, souvlaki were tender, fries seasoned properly. I would definitely recommend getting extra tzatziki because you're gonna need it. We left very full, and smelling like garlic/olive oil/oregano and skewers on the grill. Minus half a star for not having lamb or a fish option but that's obviously at the business owners discretion. The dine in area will also leave you smelling like the food, so just plan your shower until AFTER you eat.. Will be back many times.

This place is Awesome!!! The Freak Pita is my go to & Always a Winner. So good. Best Greek food & you don't have to drive all the way to the Danforth for it

The Greek fries were good but the plain fries were a bit dry and hard to eat. The rice and salad were great though! Meat wasn't dry either. Flavoured well. Salad was very fresh.

From the moment I walked in to pick up my order, the entire place looked dirty and uninviting. The restaurant gave off the impression that cleanliness and basic standards were not a priority, which immediately made me uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the food was even worse. My chicken was raw in the middle, making it completely inedible. Serving undercooked chicken is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about food safety. After seeing the condition of my meal, there was no way I was going to risk eating it. To make matters worse, the service was terrible. The two women working when I came in were rude, unfriendly, and seemed completely uninterested in providing even basic customer service. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was inconveniencing them simply by being there. I gave this restaurant a second chance hoping my previous bad experience was a fluke, but this visit was somehow even worse. Between the dirty appearance of the restaurant, the rude service, and being served raw chicken, I can confidently say I will never return. Absolutely disgusting. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Me and some family members were in the area, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated promptly and then, for the longest time ... nothing. As it turned out, we'd spend a lot longer at this restaurant than we had anticipated. After about 20 minutes, a kind and apparently exhausted waitress appeared, so we ordered drinks and saganaki to start. 10 minutes later, our drinks appeared, and we ordered our main courses then. Although the menu gave prices for wine by the glass, half litre or bottle, we were told that they don't have enough wine to offer any more than a glass at a time. Strange, and unexpected. Eventually, the saganaki (Greek flaming cheese) arrived, and it was really, really good - a generous triangle of grilled, flaming cheese, easily split between the three of us. It was served with some odd bread, which resembled buttered and toasted hot dog or burger buns. This helped take the edge off our hunger as we waited for our main course. And waited. Looking at the time, I noticed that we had already spent over 60 minutes in the restaurant, which was extremely chilly on a cold winter's evening. Many customers, including us, wore their coats throughout the evening. Apparently, the restaurant dining area is heated only by two electric fire places. Our waitress came out and let us know that we had to wait because my daughter's order of octopus was taking a while. At this point, we had already committed to being here, so we had no choice but to see it through. Finally, the food came out. My daughter's octopus was, sadly, overcooked and tough, but still tasty, and the lemon roasted potatoes were excellent. My husband's roasted lamb did not seem like it was prepared as a roast, as there was no browning or roast] flavor, but seemed to have been prepared in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. I had ordered the Moussaka, and had high expectations, based on my memory of Milo's creamy, eggplant-filled, nicely seasoned Moussaka of my distant, long-ago previous visit. However, my portion of Moussaka had the oddest texture: rather mushy and grainy. The well-seasoned, savory tasting ground beef of my memories had now been transformed into a rather average-tasting ground beef mixture that would have been equally at home in a sloppy joe. And I could not find an eggplant in the casserole at all ... well, maybe it had somehow been reduced to such mushiness that it lost it's eggplant quality, but I could swear that it was missing. It was all edible food, though, but not up to our expectations. I hate to give any place a lowly, two-star review. I had hoped for much more, because there is so much about Milo's to raise one's hopes: it's not a big chain, but locally, family-run; it has an appealing and timeless Mediterranean decor; and the menu offers many interesting Greek choices. A few small changes would be an upgrade: better bread, some additional staff and a few space heaters would be a good start. Milo's is the type of restaurant that I would love to support, but I've read enough reviews with similar observations that I am unlikely to return.
