I love Greek food so when a friend invited me to join his family to check out the recently opened AGM Eatery, I said YESSS! With hungry mouths to feed, we ordered several dishes, including the popular souvlaki, gyros, calamari, onion rings, and Greek salad. The food looked good and everybody loved it! I had the gyros dinner and it was a tad dry but had decent flavour. I prefer the version of this made with fresh meat, not ground meat. This place is relatively new but the chef has a lot of experience cooking for Greek restaurants, uptown and downtown. A lot of regular customers seemed to be coming in while we were there.

With a name like "Authentic Greek and Mediterranean Eatery", one is inclined to think that the lady doth protest too much. And one would be right. The poutine was OK. Cheese was not squeaky at all but there was a good amount of it. The gravy was pretty tasty. The pork pita was below average. It wasn't Greek style (with some fries inside) - so much for this place being "authentic". The tzatziki was tasteless and the pork was bland, though it had a slight char. Galaktoboureko (Greek custard cake) was decent. The custard was rich but the pastry wasn't flaky and the syrup wasn't fragrant. Right now they have what seems to be an opening promotion on the poutine, fries, onion ring and pork pita, but at normal prices they probably won't be able to compete with other joints.

    Sour cream, not tzatziki

Too many of the wrong spices used to make this dinner. Simply not Greek in nature. The potatoes were SOUR. This is Indian food disguised as Greek food. I love Indian food, and I love greek, so don't get me wrong there. Incredibly misleading and practically inedible. Not even the right sauce was given, they gave us sour cream..... How can a place be so happy being so mediocre. Admit that you are a fusion of a restaurant and stop misleading people. Nothing authentic about this place in the slightest.

The restaurant is clean and really nice looking.

Great new Greek/Mediterranean restaurant. The location is hard to see from the street because it's a bit obstructed by a gas station and A&W. Really clean. Just opened recently. Pork souvlaki was perfectly cooked. Well marinated. Flavorful and juicy. The potatoes tasted great(touch of lemon or something). Even the rice tasted great. Most places have bland rice and potatoes so this was great. The same goes for the gyros. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked. The dinners come with salads. If you've tried Esquire's (on VP & Sheppard) food. This is similar flavour but better. Also, unlike Esquire, they take debit and credit. I just wish they would add lamb souvlaki to the menu. Prices are similar to competitors in the area, maybe even slightly cheaper. I definitely recommend it.

Very solid place that one probably had a similar experience if they went there 20 years ago…read more I had the moussaka and it was just what I wanted. The rice was actually a lot better than I expected. I know it's just a side, but rice at times from other Greek places isn't that great, and this was much better. My wife had the mix grill plate, and I helped. She absolutely loved the lamb. It was largely over the quality and the prep was fairly standard, but there's nothing wrong with that. The other parts didn't jump out, but were still perfectly good. The service was very attentive.

Having had moussaka ($33.95) at more chain-like Greek restaurants, Pantheon's version is lighter…read moreand fresher tasting. The potato layer feels fluffy and sandwiches thinly sliced eggplant, so the aubergine is rather pronounced. The ground beef mixture wasn't overly spiced and even the bechamel sauce was a thin layer, so it toasts the top but doesn't saturate the slice. Ultimately, it's not heavy so you could get through a full portion. A flaming saganaki ($19.95), the pan fried kefalotiri cheese, is a staple in Canadian Greek restaurants. It seems touristy to order but there's something endearing about setting a piece of cheese on fire and yelling "opa"! For me, the dish is more for the atmosphere than taste. Pantheon pan fries the cheese well, so it develops a crust even prior to flambeeing and serves it as a thick gooey slice. If only the accompanying bread wasn't so dry and mealy, a good saganaki calls for a better complement. Almost all their mains arrive with a sizeable Greek side salad that's smartly served first containing ample amounts of crumbled feta and some tomato, cucumbers, and onion over romaine. Their dressing is different, tamer and while still acidic there's a sweetness to it. Not sure, but perhaps they use a red wine vinegar and then blend the ingredients together so it's better combined? With the fishkebob souvlaki ($36.95) I was expecting fish, but it's really a seafood kebob containing shrimp, calamari and mushroom. It's cooked well with a faint grilled aroma, very tender, and lightly salted. Sadly, my steamed vegetables were merely carrots and didn't have the delicious garlicky green beans included on my friends' plates. Luckily, there was plenty with the moussaka so I could augment mine. At least there was an ample portion of roasted lemon potatoes that were soft and fluffy with a refreshing pronounced citrus finish. Pantheon doesn't skimp on the lamb chops that arrive with the entrée. And if you can't decide on what protein you'd like, their menu also offers some as add-ons. The lamb chop by the piece ($11.95) was bit gamier than I'd like but was cooked to a perfect medium doneness. A complimentary honey cake arrives for the table and is almost like having baklava in cake form. Just watch out, as the moist crumbly cake is difficult to pick up with a fork. Don't waste a bit of this delicious dessert, just use your fingers.

The portions were generous and the service was fast, with a smile. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated -- high ceilings, calm colour plan, lots and lots of space. I see why it's an event space. We shared everything. Started off with saganaki and dip sampler (we chose the eggplant one and spicy feta), had fish of the day (sole) and braised beef for mains, and finished with citrus pound cake and spiced cake. My two favs were the eggplant dip (I know how much work goes into making these) and the braised beef (so tender!). What a great way to showcase their menu. Definately a ton of seats. Menu is quite extensive, lot of great options for everyone. Prices are mid to high for the portion size I found (a bit on the small size). I ordered the lemonade chicken. This is a chicken stuffed with spinach and feta. This is covered in sauce and paired with a vegetable and rice medley. The flavour of the lemon sauce is delicious. Food is tasty but chicken was a bit on the dry side, maybe left to long on the grill or waiting for our food to arrive and it dried out. Had to use a lot of sauce which is not a bad thing as the sauce was delicious. Some ordered the chicken or pork souvlaki, portion looked small for the meat but the Greek salad looked refreshing. They were saying the potatoes were really nice. Waiter didn't really say much, was a man of few words. Not sure I would go back to often, but if you craving Greek food and in the area they have something for everyone. Looked like they participate in summerlicious if you looking for something a bit heavier and want an app, main and dessert for $34.

The food was so full of flavour and care, it stood out among Toronto's many Middle Eastern options. Lately, I'd been seeing a lot of their mouthwatering Instagram videos--chicken shawarma piled high, platters being loaded up with garlic sauce and fries, etc.... What can I say? The marketing worked. I started thinking about Aleppo Kebab and decided to order some for lunch via Uber Eats. Unfortunately, the meal fell flat. The shawarma was bland, and flavourless. The rice, once fragrant and almost biryani-like, was now just plain and forgettable. The salad was not dressed, the garlic dip tasted like it came out of a can, and the sujuk rolls were coated in a chalky flour residue that made them unappetizing. I'm not sure if this was just an off day or a more systemic issue. But every part of the meal was underwhelming. It's disappointing, especially when I know what they're capable of. They've clearly stepped up their marketing game--but if the food doesn't live up to the hype, no amount of social media will keep people coming back. I'll give it one more try before writing it off completely, but here's hoping the Aleppo Kebab I once raved about makes a comeback. Until then, 2 stars is fair.
