As this is written, cases are on the 2nd floor of the Centennial Center in Courtroom C. 8) The magistrate will take care of some preliminary business and then order opposing parties to go into little rooms, sit across a table from each other, and try to work out a deal. This is where your provide a copy of your exhibits to the defendant to keep. You will discuss your exhibits and the defendant's exhibits. Everyone will probably realize who has a strong case and who doesn't. Note that there's no arbiter present. It's just you and the defendant(s). 9) If you reach a deal, you will fill out a form that's there in the room stating what the agreement is. Don't worry if you don't know how to fill it out completely (we didn't). Just fill out what you can and go back to the courtroom. Of course, make it clear to the magistrate what part(s) you need assistance with. The magistrate is understanding and helpful. 10) If you did reach a deal, the magistrate will make it official. I thought all was fine when I heard the cop ask if this purse was mine. I said yes, and he proceeded to hold up my cat keychain, (that does have two holes in it you can put your fingers through, if you need to protect yourself on a late night walk or something?) and then told me (in the most snooty tone) that "this is highly illegal. This could be considered a brass knuckle. I could arrest you for a felony right now." (He said that last sentence incredibly condescendingly). I was taken aback, but I apologized and begrudgingly thanked him for his "kindness." What a pompous jerk!

I was dealing with an eviction on my background and how no idea on about how to get rid of it. Barb at the self help desk was extremely knowledgeable on what forms and next steps I needed to take. Barb really took the time to hear my story and understand where I was coming from. It was so nice to have someone who makes you feel like you're not just another number. Even while I was standing in line to meet with Barb I could hear how caring and sweet she was with other people which made me feel comfortable with her. While…read moreshe determined that we were in no danger whatsoever from our daughter or her narcissistic boyfriend, he (that boyfriend) tried to break into our car and our house. We have him on RING CAMERA WHILE WE WERE IN COURT. So we are disillusioned with Adams County and have set up funeral arrangements for ourselves because that's the inevitable result of a failing system. Seniors are simply not as valuable or as worthy as the insightful, pudding-brained Magistrate Roy.

Though I did enjoy the experience it literally took from 8am to 5pm. Could have easily ended in half the time but the lawyer had to hash out the legalize and the jury had to leave the room to not be prejudice.

It's never fun waking up, making time to drag yourself to a courthouse waiting in line, seeing the…read morejudge, paying a fine at the window. I will say however, this was not a completely bad experience. My kid asked me to accompany him to help deal with his first traffic ticket. We got there 20 min early, checked in. Took another 30 min to be called, 60 min to be called into the judge, 10 min to pay at the window. Took time but not a bad experience. Take some work or entertainment with you and you'll be fine.

As we waited in line to get in the courthouse it went fairly smoothly. I felt bad for the people who called the jurors number and was told to come in just to be told they didn't need to show up especially after waiting 30 minutes in the unusual cold snap we had that day. After the ones who were told to come in and after another 45 minutes wait we were all told there was a stay and we could leave. Thank God.

If you are not excused, I advise arriving before 7:30 a.m., when the doors open, so you can get through security quickly and arrive at the jury summons room on time. You fill out another questionnaire (similar to the summons you must bring), which helps the judges and lawyers determine the first round of excusals. If you are "lucky" enough to make it through that round, you will be taken upstairs to the courtroom for the voir dire process. Depending on the number of jurors needed, you may need to stay for lunch. There is a reasonably priced cafeteria with hot and cold options and snacks.

horrible experience from the start to end. courtroom assignment was wrong and when we got to the…read moreright one. there was no hearings today. we watched a video and got basically told to figure it out alone. at the legal services it's taken two hours to get seen. I am second in line and after two hours still wasn't seen. horrible attitudes and demeanor from an employee shooing off people in need like they are a dog. i understand there is a process and procedure but if you don't want to work when you are at work. quit your job and let someone who does take it. this experience alone is my deciding factor on leaving the state
