Before embarking on this project, I didn't know anything about how solar technology works, and net metering. So doing a lot of research helped tremendously in communicating with potential solar companies. System size 5.2kw, 13x REC400 with IQ8+ Enphase inverters. I'm loving the REC panels btw. First and foremost, you must have at least 5 quotes from different vendors. Use Yelp's project request tool to get your RFPs (requests for proposals) out to different vendors up and running. The companies may ask you for annual usage from your utility company and this is a normal course of communication so they have an idea of how big of a system your project requires. And that's when you start getting actual quotes for types of panels, quantities, wattage, inverters, and so forth. Once you know the type of panels you want to be installed, you can narrow your list down to 3 vendors and then negotiate from there. Ultimately, I choose to award GreeMpower the business, due to their competitive price, communication, and their guaranteed production warranty. Kevin, the project manager, was great to deal with. I'm the type of person who asks all kinds of questions. And please don't hesitate to ask questions and to ask for project status. It's a lot of money you are investing, so you should be in the know. I was pleasantly surprised by the timeline it took to complete the project, from signing the contract to PTO (permission to operate with LADWP). It was quite seamless, to be honest. There were no speed bumps along the way with the site survey, building inspection, and installation to PTO. I got lucky because everything worked out. But it may not be the case for you. However, you must be proactive in your communication with your project manager. They are there for guidance and status updates. After installation, I had an issue with the inverters not operating correctly. I emailed GreeMpower and they resolved the situation in no time. I've been enjoying solar energy for a couple of months now. It's kinda nice to see the electric meter running "backwards". I receive multiple quotes for solar providers in Jan 2023 prior to NEM 3.0 going into effect. Kevin and GreeMpower's quote was competitive and I particularly appreciate the production warranty that the provide, that provides compensation if the solar production does not meet at least 90% of the expected production over the course of 1 year, which is great to have a company stand by their estimates. We have not reached 1 year yet, but I have seen that in the past 6 months we are currently on track to meet the estimates that were provided by Kevin and the team. Overall, Kevin was very quick to respond to messages and was very helpful in the whole process. My only feedback is that they have a referral bonus, but it required a lot of follow up to receive the bonus rather than them just sending it, however they did provide it as Amazon gift cards after those follow ups. Referral bonus is something I usually expect businesses to hand out happily considering the huge value the business receives. I used GreeMPower as my solar installer, a total of 29 panels. Also included in the job was the installation of an electric car charging outlet in my garage. Everything looked correct, however, when I would try to charge my brand new electric car, it wouldn't work. Kevin kept telling me it was probably my car, so I took my car in to run diagnostics, it was working properly. This went on for over a month, they never came back out to troubleshoot or inspect the work. I finally called a licensed electrician and what he discovered was appalling and put my family at great risk. Not only were the proper gauge wires not used, it was spliced 3 different times in the attic and not covered in a junction box. The electrician stated "I can't believe your house didn't burn down." The worst part was, they ran the correct gauge wires from the panel to the attic, and down from the attic to the outlet. So the what you could "see"looked correct, a single pull with correct wiring. However, what was in the attic was spliced, wrong gauge wire, not covered, etc. Again, this wasn't something I asked to be done after the fact, this work was included in the original contract. Once I sent pics and video of the wiring in the attic, GreeMPower sent another electrician to do the work properly and gave me Amazon gift cards to reimburse me for the cost of me hiring an electrician. The simple fact that GreeMPower kept refusing to come and inspect why the EV outlet was not working in the first place is enough for me not to recommend them. The fact that they put my family at risk is why I feel compelled to write this review. I have only ever left positive reviews on Yelp but I want people to be made aware of my experience. read more

I selected GreeMpower for our solar panel installation after going through several quotes. GreeMpower's quotes were highly competitive. I worked with Kevin for selecting the panels and the inverter. Kevin was very responsive and respectful. He would respond to all my queries in a timely manner. The most important thing for me was to have my Solar Panel plans submitted for approval before NEM 3.0 switch. I lost a lot of time initially working with Tesla Solar and ultimately Tesla could not commit to getting the plans submitted to get me in for NEM 2.0. Kevin was quick to draw up the plans to submit to our city for approval. Once the plans were approved he came in personally to my home to hand over the approved plans. This was very much appreciated. GreeMPower employs sub contractors to install the panels. The sub contractors were really good. Kevin was able to schedule the installation within a week after I received all the panels and inverter. Everything went like clock work. The installers completed the installation and the installation supervisor came in the next week to meet with the SCE inspector on the day SCE had scheduled the inspection. After a month I received PTO from SCE. I was worried about roof leaks after hearing some stories from my neighbours but after several months of rain everything looks good. I had assumed that the consumption meter would have been included with the installation but that was an additional requirement. Anyway Kevin got that installed too after my request at a reasonable cost. Now I could monitor how much I produce as well as consume to get to the Net Export/Import number. GreeMPower may not be a very large company like Tesla or Sunrun but you get that personal service. You do not deal with many different people, but just Kevin for everything. I researched and asked almost 50 solar companies for estimates. Majority of vendors tried to have a phone conversation first but I preferred to see their quotes based on my annual consumption of kw first then start the conversation based on what they quoted. Kevin was great responding all of my emails and texts so fast. He even replied back to me some Friday night or weekend. They are one of the few companies who warranties annual production kw for 25 years. Paragon Sun, who actually set up the solar panels on our roof, did a great job and setting up 19 panels within 1.5 days. Totally stress-free at our side. We whittled down from seven that originally responded to three mainly based on how quickly and in what manner they responded after I gave them our initial project info. All three were around the same price for similarly spec'd systems (approx 9kw sys). After going through multiple correspondences with the three, comparing estimates, and checking multiple references, we selected GreeM. One of the main reasons we chose GreeMpower was due their rep, Kevin Post. He was professional, responsive, and if unable to answer my questions, would get back to me in timely manner. Once we signed, everything went as they said. No issues with the install, no surprises, nor last minute price adjustments. This company was responsive but very sloppy in the evaluation of the prospective job. The proposal was riddled with errors, so I told them they needed to do a physical site assessment. In fact, they won't even do a physical site evaluation without you giving them the green light. Of course, that is putting the chariot before the horse. Quality product, they delivered on their specified timelines, responsive to questions throughout the whole process, simplified the install, permits, inspections, etc. I researched and spoke with 8 different other solar companies and they were hands down the best overall. Be careful with solar selection it's still the wild Wild West out there. Some companies carry solar products from unheard of brands, some companies have you pay for and file the permit paperwork or subcontract it out, some companies just stop responding to you once you sign and put the deposit down, some companies will commit to the project before they know what they are working with and change the price accordingly down the road. Some companies I could tell were flat out not organized, and when you are spending thousands of dollars and on something that is drilled into your home, you better pick a company this knows what they are doing. This company I would say exceeded our expectations , they inspected noted our metal roof and the angle, gave us solar panel number and product options with the breakdown in difference (warranties, efficiency loss, etc.), and gave a clear timeline of everything which they followed through with. Let me start by saying that I have done research and had gotten quotes from numerous solar companies prior to reaching out to Greempower. I used Greempower to install a 7.2 kw system. Greempower sent me some educational materials in the beginning, which are very useful for me to learn some important points in installing solar systems. Greempower used subcontractors to do the onsite survey and install the system. Usually I don't trust subcontractors because I had some bad experiences before. But the subcontractors that Greempower used did good jobs, nothing to complain about. My Greempower contact, Kevin, made the whole process smooth in general. After the installation, it took about 3 weeks for Southern California Edison to issue the Permission To Operate. I had to say this part made me feel uncertain and kind of unnerving, especially because the final payment must be paid before the PTO was issued. Now the system has been running for 2 weeks, generating about 33 kwh per day. Of course, the yield will go down since the season is changing. All in all, I'm quite happy for now.
