Like most people about to make a major investment, I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions about Solar panels for my home. I did a search to find a local business, as I prefer to do business with, and found Alan with SWG. From the start Alan was very friendly, he was thoughtful and gave me great education and advice. We went over my annual SCE costs for the previous year and then he custom designed his proposal for my home, he even placed minimal solar panels to the front of the house and placed them on the side and rear of our home to maintain our curb appeal. To my surprise, his proposal was competitive and detailed how I could have a return on my cash investment paid in just a little over 4 years. That was the deal maker there. To not have to wait 15, 20, or 25 years and start saving now with all my investment back in just 4 years is what I wanted to hear. We hired SWG and had an excellent experience. To my surprise, all of the panels were installed in one day. The SWG team was efficient, fast, and did a great job! We even hired them to upgrade our electrical panel as it feel short from the requirement with a fair price. It felt good to give business to a local business instead of those larger solar companies. We did have some delays on the part of inspections and SCE providing the official permit to operate but all was fine and minimal and always with plenty of communication of the next steps from Alan and his office staff. I wanted to get into net metering 2.0 before California switched over to the new net metering program 3.0 back in April of 2023. I started researching solar companies, big popular solar names and smaller solar companies. I knew for a fact I wanted to go with a smaller solar company, only because I know these other guys are going to source the work out to other people who they might not even be familiar with. Alan explained to me that his people have been with him for a while, and I found that to be true. To me, Alan was so much more personable than other people I spoke to. Immediately I felt comfortable with Alan's explanations, his quote, and his solar business. It's a big investment, so I did take my time. I asked a lot of questions, and I knew right away I wanted Alan and his team to have my business. I don't do many reviews, I'm the one that's mostly reading them, but I feel like I have to let people know how great Alan and his team at SWG have been. I received a very competitive quote from Alan, which I was really happy about. It was nearing the deadline to apply for new solar and be grandfathered into net metering 2.0, but Alan said there would not be any issues because they always do the paperwork right the first time. There was no denying that as my application was accepted by SCE and I got approved for my plans and installation. I would be grandfathered into net metering 2.0 as long as the solar would be installed. Plans and quote were for a 19 panel system and a new upgraded 200 amp electrical panel. When I met the foreman who would be in charge of the installation, I was very happy. David answered all my questions and felt like he was very professional. That's when I learned that he works with Alan all the time, so in talking with him, I knew my solar project was in the right hands. Installation started on June 20th, no issues during the installation. David and his guys worked all day and had it completed the same day. A couple of re-visits were needed but that was due to having the city inspector come and sign off on the permit and to do the final on my electrical panel permit. No issues with the inspections, everything approved. I started reading about how long it was taking SCE to give you your final permission to operate, because of all the people that had applied for solar and how backed up SCE was. Well, my install was June 20th and my PTO letter from SCE was sent on July 20th. This to me was pretty amazing. It only showed me how efficient SWG must be with their paperwork, to be able to get approved so quickly when I was just reading about how long it was taking others to get their final approval. My solar has been running since June 20th 2023, PTO approval on July 20th 2023, so far no issues whatsoever. I'm still learning the app and trying to monitor my energy production to make sure everything is working correctly. I've had a few questions, which Alan and his team with Ilyse and Eliza got back to me in a timely manner. Ilyse and Eliza at the office have been great to talk to or email when I've had a question, overall, so happy with everyone. If I sound too excited in this review, it's because I am. I feel like my hard earned money, which I absolutely value, was spent on the right solar company. I'll do a year update on this review when I get there. That's when I'll be able to see if my system is producing the amount of energy production that it should be producing. I don't see how it won't, but nonetheless, I'll update for those who are interested.
