We have used Green Beagle for the past 2.5 years to broad our dog. We were very happy with the service until today. We had to emergently cancel a reservation and we're informed we would be "generously" charged 50% of the total fee because we cancelled within 14 days of a holiday (Easter). The cancellation policy on their web page states the high season is between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and cancellation within 14 days will result in a 50% charge of the total boarding fee. All other holidays, including Easter, are subject to keeping the deposit, which could be used for future services. I think this is a fair cancellation policy, but I was not offered this option. When I challenged the manager on violating their own policy, I was offered was 25% of the total boarding fee, which amounts to $190, not the deposit we paid, which was $0. I am very disappointed in their deceptive business practices and violating their own policy. I will dispute the credit card charge and fight to get every dollar back. Also, I caution anyone who is considering Green Beagle Lodge to carefully reconsider and find another, more reputable place to board your pet. read more

I boarded my dog October 16 - 19 2025, and I had boarded her once before for a week without any issues. However, this time the staff did not give her any of her two medications. One medication is required daily and was provided in an unopened box and the box was returned to me unopened - I didn't notice this until I got home. The other medication was as needed for anxiety and no pills were taken so i don't know if they were monitoring her anxiety properly - I doubt it While fortunately my dog was ok, another animal could have been killed if they miss their medication. I paid Green Beagle Lodge $65 dollars a night to take care of my dog's basic needs and they failed at this simple task. I did talk to a manager, she seemed sympathetic and did confirm both of the medications were logged in the system. She said she they were going to perform an "investigation" and call me back the next day, but they never did. read more

We are very grateful that someone recommended Green Beagle Lodge to us when we relocated to the Chapel Hill area. We have an unaltered rottweiler and when we got him as a puppy, wanted to ensure that he was well trained and socialized. We brought him to GBL around his 1st year birthday after doing months training on our own and attending obedience courses. Our dog wasn't used to being around other dogs by himself and scored a 3.92 on his first GBL trial day, just shy of the recommended minimum score of 4 to show readiness to attend. I really appreciated having this trial day and understanding what we could work on to improve our dog's socialization. With the consistent help of Tara and attending GBL for nearly a year, our dog is doing much better and has successfully had two over night trial visits, which would have been **unheard** of when he first started. GBL has great, clean facilities, which we toured on a whim before starting training. This showed me that staff were always ready to show the facilities and, what impressed me the most, was how clean everything was. There's no smell! GBL staff runs the facility like a very orderly school-staff know the animals, their needs, and are very attentive. It's always hard leaving your fur baby, however, this team has shown their care and diligence. We are most grateful to Tara for helping our pup gain confidence and achieve so many goals. After COVID, my family and I took our COVID puppy to Green Beagle for training. She is very loving, but at the time had not been socialized and was very easily frightened. Green Beagle knew all of this and worked with her every weekday for a few months. Randomly, we got a call from Green Beagle. They told us we could no longer bring our pup because she had nipped a untrained, new employee. They said to us that THEIR employee had stuck her hand into our dog's kennel without warning or care. There was a large sign on her kennel and on her collar that stated (in red) that she was high-risk and at Green Beagle FOR INTENSE TRAINING. Green Beagle then blamed us for our untrained dog. Their poor management, untrained employees, and carelessness resulted in our pup being banned. There was zero accountability, apology, or remorse for poorly handling our dog, who was under their care and meant to be trained by their organization. Their standard for employees is extremely low as well. read more

We adopted our pup about a year ago in the pandemic. The rescue we got him from had very little info about him, and he ended up being much higher energy than we expected (especially for our first dog!). Not having a backyard was tough despite 3 walks a day, so we looked into daycare options very early on. Green Beagle was highly recommended by one of our friends. Having that space for Otis to run around off leash was a game changer for us & allowed us to make it work. He loves everyone at Green Beagle and is always SO excited to be there. When we are out of town, we also board him there and know he's in good hands and is having a blast. We started with a half day weekly and he now goes twice a week, which is the perfect amount of time to keep this energetic, athletic pup from any destructive behaviors in the house while we are working but also not overly stimulated. We also love looking through the daily pictures from when he's at daycare to see if we can spot him playing. As with any daycare (for kids or pets), he gets an illness going around occasionally & has gotten an injury but they let us know immediately and we were able to get him stitched up. Not getting that pent up energy out while he recovered was the tough part, so it's still well worth it for us. Scheduling is tough unless you book well in advance, but it makes sense because of their great staff, facilities, and just the way they do things (grouping dogs by size/energy, dog to staff ratio, naps, rotating through yards). Hopefully they can expand to fit the demand because they're awesome! read more

Left My Dog For A Two Week Training/Boarding. Was promised videos showing training among other things. After over $2000 and two weeks I barely heard anything from trainers, no videos etc. After the two weeks I would bring him back for weekend daycare, after a few weeks I come to pick him up and all of a sudden a young girl tells me my dog was out of control and needs more training before he can go back into the daycare. My dog absolutely loves it here! He is always exhausted when he comes home from day care and I love getting to see all the pictures they take everyday. We have boarded him here before and they sent us pictures and an update since it was his first time. The building itself is so nice and clean, and there are so many staff members which makes me feel even more comfortable leaving him in their capable hands. It is a little pricey, but I bought a package which brought the price down and I only send him about once a week. Their day care slots fill up fast though so make sure you call at least a few days ahead of time! read more

We loved this place for day care and boarding UNTIL we picked our dog up one day only to be informed that an injury had occurred on their watch which required significant medical attention afterward. They took ZERO responsibility, had the attitude of "sh*t happens," even though there is no way our dog would have gotten hurt if they had stayed home that day. Completely unacceptable since their ONE job is to take care of your pet. Stay away! Updated review in response to "We do our absolute best every day for every pet that comes to us for any service. This is and has always been our mission. We are sorry this happened to you and your pup." Hey, this is the same as "sh*t happens and it's not our fault." Except that it was -- who throws a ball near a structure or with a structure in dogs' path? Fully grown dogs don't accidentally run into things -- we all know that explanation doesn't hold water. WE LOVE GBL!!! I cannot express enough how fantastic this facility is. Not only is it beautifully designed and kept, but everything is so easy at GBL. They staff has always been very nice, but the best part is that my sweet golden comes home EXHAUSTED. So tired in fact, that even though he hates car rides, on our way home from GBL he falls asleep in the back seat. It's just amazing. Yes, they are on the pricey side, but I believe every penny is worth it. I truly feel I get my money's worth, and I love knowing my dog had a great day at doggie daycare. I wouldn't know how they treat their canine clients, but I can tell you they don't treat humans very well. They just wasted an hour of my time making me set up a profile with my email and phone number (probably selling/giving that info away). They told me to call back after completing an online profile. Then, they told me they are all booked up two weeks from now. Complete waste of my time. They weren't even that polite on the phone. Why trust someone with your dog when they aren't even decent to you? The service is much better across the street @ chapel Hill pet resort. read more

While the facilities and staff are nice, the reservations system is AWFUL. I understand they have capacity limits, but it is nearly impossible to get your dog into this facility. They say they have a waiting list, but I've never once been reached out to for a date, even when I say I'd like to be on the waiting list any day of the week. I really wanted to like this place but we will not be back. It has taken me a few weeks to review but we took our Pekingese and dachshund there to get baths, nails trimmed, anal glands expressed and have the Pekingese groomed. The dachshunds anal glands did not appear to have been done correctly as he was still scooting around when we got him home so I just ended up doing that myself. The worst experience of this was my poor Pekingese though. His haircut was terrible. Choppy and uneven would be the best description. He was actually in pain though when we got him home and we couldn't figure out why for a few days until I looked at his backside which was completely raw. It looked like the bottom part of his tail had a razor taken to it and it was so red and inflamed. It also appeared that not all of the soap was washing out of his coat either because he couldn't stop scratching so I had to give him a bath anyway. In addition to the poor grooming, the price was super excessive. I would have gladly paid this if the job had actually been done well but I feel like we wasted $$. I could have called to complain but opted not to since this was done on my birthday weekend and I just didn't want to deal with it anymore to be honest. However seeing all of the great reviews on here I felt like my experience needed to be shared because it doesn't seem like this place is as great as it appears according to reviews. Update: Ryan demonstrated exemplary customer service by contacting me to see what went wrong with our visit. I was not expecting a refund at all but that did lessen the bad experience. If you leave your dog before 2 pm on one day and pick him after 12 noon the next day, you pay an "Early Check-in" fee of $18, PLUS "Extended Stay" fee of $18, PLUS the overnight fee of $42 minimum, for a one night stay cost of $78. If you are going to announce on a public forum you are going to give an immediate refund, you should do it. As listed in the response by the manager of Green Beagle, I was to have an immediate refund by the company. I did not receive it. I had to file with my credit card company who issued a 'temporary refund' until the case was closed at the beginning of October. According to them, they received no response to their numerous attempts at contact with anyone at Green Beagle. Regarding the rest of my previous review, it was obviously not read. 1) I heard my dog PRIOR to even getting out of the car, so there was no way they could have been excited about seeing their leashes. 2) I had to round up my own dogs because one of them was so upset he was running away from the handler with his tail between his legs. I would have reiterated that in July but was advised against it by the cc company. They said to wait until the claim had been closed. read more

So our American Bully has been going to GBL well over a year now! Actually since my husband and I moved to North Carolina! Our dog is extremely energetic and doesn't always know how to fit in with his canine counterparts but he is extremely loving and we've not had any incidents with him! Of course we chose this place because these are behaviors that they promise they can rectify. Amazingly on last week when I was out of town with my ill father, my husband called and told me that our dog bit another sweet puppy's tail! While I don't dispute the allegations and my dog should have been dealt with-this is not his demeanor and never has such reports ever been made to us by GBL or any of his dog sitters. We've only heard living thing about our pooch. Nevertheless and ironically, GBL is the same place where my dog was bitten and injured and his offender was still welcome to attend the facility with no reprimand. Talk about biased!!!!It brings me to this point. My husband and I were asked by Catheline, the facility's manager, through the trainer to sever ties with the facility and not bring our dog back to a place that he loved so much. Maybe it's because of our African American race regardless of our education and financial means, maybe it's because of our dog's breed (American Bully), maybe it's because he was always caged up, played alone and unengaged if Brew, the head trainer, (who is great, gracious and kind and was the one that dealt with him most) not available or maybe it's because the facility began to outgrow themselves and have a certain population who they catered to more than others and my dog and I are not a part of the number. No matter the case and no matter how consistent we were with taking him, we were never welcomed! GBL you don't honor your word of fair treatment and socialization of the pets. You've outgrown kindnesses and you default in so many questioning ways. You handled our situation unprofessionally. Needles to say, with my influence, I will never recommend you to another pet owner and I will never speak kindly about you. I do not believe your facility is welcoming of all pets and your vision has certainly become obscured as witnessed by me on several occasions with own dog. We stayed with your facility so long because our dog loved Brew. He keeps you all afloat. Your finesse is at a disappointing level to me. read more

I really want to love Green Beagle because of its convenient location and beautiful facilities. Unfortunately after giving them a good try, they just do not measure up. Boarding and day care services are pricey and their customer service is sub-par. Check in and check out is always a hectic and disorganized process. The staff usually seem frazzled and confused and you bounce back and forth between several staff members trying to get the dogs checked in and handed over with proper feeding, grooming, boarding instructions. My dogs have been there multiple times, and the folks there never seem to recognize or remember anything about them. I have been very disappointed the past two times we have had grooming services. The first time we had our dog groomed there (full groom, haircut & bath), I showed up to pick him up and he was outside in the pool. Soaked and smelly. The folks at the desk acted like it was my fault for not being explicit not to let him out. (That just doesn't make sense??) They did not offer any sort of discount on the grooming or really an apology for the condition of the dog. I was pretty disappointed. Gave them another chance at grooming this past week after a boarding stay. We came back into town early to pick the dogs up because they charge $17.50 for each dog if you do not pick up between 2-3pm on Sunday (yes, one hour pickup window - $17.50 EACH DOG). We discussed this with the front desk staff and made special arrangements to end our trip early to be home and get the dogs. When we showed up to get them at 3, the groom had just begun. The staff claimed there was "a miscommunication" on our part in regards to pick up time. Very frustrating! Also, for the high prices, the services seem to be lacking. Most places will give you a report on how your dog does for the day and many have web cams and staff on site 24/7. They do not do any of these things. Again, I wish this place had better service because the facilities are great and the location is convenient. However for their prices, they just do not measure up to other boarding and camp facilities we have used. read more

My dog LOVES this place! In brief, very clean facility with a large, attentive staff, two large outdoor activity areas where the dogs spend most of the day, and no charges for special feeding habits or medical dispensing. While it is a little more expensive than other area kennels (around $40-60 a night), you are really getting so much more activity for and monitoring of your pet. I just feel good knowing she is at a place where the staff really care about her and she can get the activity she needs. My pup is an eleven-year-old mutt with very selective (...no, seriously) tastes about where she spends her time. She has stayed here twice and was so excited to return after her first stay here. The facility has at least two areas for the dogs to hang out in - one for less active and/or older dogs and one for active dogs - and the dogs are out there for several hours a day. Even though she is older, she prefers to be running around in the active area, which also contains a shallow water park for the dogs to run through. Each time I've been there, there has always been at least a couple of staff members monitoring the pups outside. The facility is very thorough about understanding your dog when you first get there (there will be a bit of paperwork), though this made me feel like they were really interested in providing her as custom an experience as possible. They also sent me a lengthy description of her behavior/mood and activities (with photos!) a few days into her stay each time I boarded her. All in all, while I obviously prefer to always be with my pup, I feel very confident that she will be well cared for and happy staying at Green Beagle. read more

I found out about this place on Instagram out of sheer luck & am honestly so happy that I did. Both of my "kids" have stayed here overnight, both short & longer stays. I would not trust leaving them in the care of any other business. I have taken them to other daycares that were closer to my house, but was left feeling very uncomfortable with the service & treatment. I also recently started one of my dogs having to train with Bru. He is phenomenal in how he handles her & can read her as if she is his own dog. I myself am learning a lot from him. I understand bringing your dog here is not cheap but would you really want to take your dog somewhere cheap, where they are not in a safe environment, receiving excellent care? I am beyond happy with the service both my dogs & I receive. The owners really care about their customers satisfaction. The treatment we have received has been nothing but kindness from GBL. My only request is that they expand their business & open more locations! read more

The green beagle lodges staff is always super welcoming and friendly! They will gladly answer any and all questions you have!They have a multiple play yards and play groups. I was amazed at the email that was sent to me it was a very detailed update on how my dog felix was doing and how he did on the day we brought him in for his temperament test. It was very informative and detailed! However, I was a little upset that they didn't include in the email that my dog was sick. When I went to go pick him up I noticed immediately he had a runny nose and was sneezing/reverse sneezing. I noticed this before we walked out of the door. When we got home he was lethargic, very low energy, and wouldn't stop coughing and sneezing. He had his kennel cough shot before we brought him to the Lodge. So I am very disappointed that he didn't receive any medical attention while he was there and that I wasn't notified that he was sick. It was pretty obvious from the second he was handed over to me that he was sick. That being said this is the only negative experience I have had at the GBL. We left our aussie at the lodge over the weekend based on good reviews and a fantastic website. We picked our dog up 2 nights later with abrasions on both elbows, raw foot pads and a severely upset stomach. 24 hours of diarrhea and four phone calls to the lodge later, we still haven't received a satisfactory explanation as to what occurred during his stay. At $50 a night, plus $17 to pick him up after 2pm--I expected my dog to be in better condition than when I dropped him off Friday. Unfortunately, the general manager was unable to provide information about my dog's stay this weekend nor did he feel responsible for refunding the cost of his stay ($120). We're headed to the vet to fix ailments that didn't exist before visiting the Green Beagle Lodge. Go somewhere else. read more

We searched for a quality boarding facility with lots of outdoor space and play time for our active dog during a short 3-night stay. We heard about GBL via word of mouth and their website. Unfortunately, we were left extremely disappointed, upset, and with a large vet bill after poor car of our dog. When we picked up our dog, we received no report on his stay. Once we arrived back home, we noticed half of his food was sent home, so he had not eaten nearly his full amount. He had a horrible rash on his stomach and a serious infection on his back paws and nail beds. And conjunctivitis in both eyes (pink eye). After calling more than three times, I finally hear back from a manager, with very little apology or explanation. Not a single person could tell me when they noticed the rash outbreak, paw infection or pink eye. And apparently their policy (unlike most other boarders) is not to call the owner unless the pet does not eat anything at all. But not eating half the amount of food is worthy of the owner knowing. All said and done with a $200 medical vet bill and a sick dog, we will never go back, recommend or support Green Beagle Lodge. Look elsewhere for boarding your animals. You pay a premium price at GBL, but the service is so disappointing. read more

I keep getting phone calls from the same staff member for different owners of different animals. When I told the staff [the same one plaguing my phone] that I have not been to their location with my animals nor am I the multiple owners that she called for and that I want my number removed from their system, she freaks out and calls for a manager. That is a simple fix that does not warrant a manager. If the staff can't handle not continuously calling the SAME number for different owners how can expect people to trust that they take proper care of animals at this place??? read more
