My dog loves this place, and everyone loves him. Great combination! You are encouraged to take your dog back to the kennel, so you can check out their living conditions. The indoor portion is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer, and each room has a type of doggie cot that keeps them elevated when sleeping. The reason Noah's Ark gets five stars (apart from the fact that they rock) is because they have no problem spending the night themselves at the kennel if the next day is projected to have inclement weather. It shows a real commitment to the animals, and is nice for those of us who rely on them to care for our pets. They tend to fill up pretty quickly around holidays, but usually have availability other times, which is very convenient. The prices are competitive, which is also a plus. read more

Lynn and her staff did a marvelous job caring for our four dogs when we vacationed in May 2023. One of the dogs required complicated medication administration and another was not potty trained. The owner and HER staff take special care of elderly and extra needs dogs, cats, and other pets. The only boarding place I know that has outdoor runs for cats and dogs. I was in Chapel Hill for a weekend wedding and was frantic to find a kennel that could board my Shih-poo puppy, Mochi, at the last minute. (Let's just say she went on a barking-fest in the hotel). I found Noah's Ark via an online search, and I am so glad I called. Lynn is amazing! She reached out to my pup's vet to get her vaccination records, let Mochi get acclimated to the kennel, and alleviated all of my stress. She even sent me a pic so I could see how Mochi was enjoying her overnight stay :-) I could tell that Lynn genuinely cares about the animals and the clients. When you first walk into the place the first thing I noticed is the owner/manager loves animals-- her pets are all over the place: dog, fish, bird; there might have been a cat somewhere too. My dog Abby had a great time playing with the owner's dog while we chatted about the paperwork, which was a great transition before leaving her in a new place. Going back into the kennel, its obvious this place is small, but well maintained and clean. At other kennels you have a choice between very small indoor cages, or an outside run. But in NC in the summer its incredible hot, so an outside run all day is brutal. Instead, what Noah's Ark has is indoor/outdoor runs, so the animals can choose to stay inside in the cool or go outside and enjoy some fresh air. Now, I'm not saying it was really cool inside, but it was cooler than the 90+ outside temperature. When I picked up my dog two days later she was in great shape, and didn't appear to be stressed at all. I like that the kennel is managed by the owner, as there's a strong incentive to see that everything is done correctly. read more

I love this place! My dog is a rescue that still has fear anxiety based on unknown events that happened when she was a pup. It's very stressful to introduce her to new people, even if they're just new friends, so you can imagine how difficult it is to find a place that will board her. When I moved to Chapel Hill from out of state, this place was close enough for me to walk to. I walked Callie over just to see how she'd react to the staff and environment and she loved everyone there! I loved that the kennels are indoor & outdoor runs. She does so well boarding there that even though I live in Raleigh now, I still make the drive to Chapel Hill when I have to travel. Noah's Ark Kennel and Cattery was perfect for my needs. I went out of town to NY for the weekend and didn't have anyone to watch my puppy. I did some research and found this place. I was able to drop her off on a Friday morning without any worries that she was going to be taken great care of while I was away. My dog is FULL of puppy energy and she got to run all of it out while she was there. The price was pretty reasonable for boarding for 4 days and I would definitely consider returning here for when I take my next trip!! read more

We had to board our 4 animals (2 cats and 2 dogs) while we were in the process of moving. I was very anxious about doing this because only one out of the four had ever been boarded before and we are new to the area and didn't really know who to use. I called a few places but settled on this one because I felt like the owner loved animals like I do and she answered my questions patiently and didn't seem put off by all my questions. I liked that they had an indoor and outdoor area for use at all times. I felt better with that arrangement because my animals are used to being able to use the potty whenever. I also liked that they had a vet next door they can use and I was able to get a few shots they needed. I paid for additional hands on time for the dogs so they got walked. I wanted to make sure there first experience was good and think it is worth the extra money. I had both dogs bathed and groomed before I picked them up and they did a wonderful job. I have a maltipoo and yorkipoo and got them both puppy cuts and they looked adorable. Best grooming they have ever had. When we picked them up they didn't seem traumatized and weren't anxious so that was a good sign. All in all, I would say they had a great experience and I would recommend them if you have to board your animals. read more

I believe my cat contracted FeLV and Feline Herpes Virus while boarded here Thanksgiving of 2010. My 3 year old cat started acting sick a month after we boarded her here, she was tested and came back positive for FeLV. She was an indoor only cat who had no interaction with other cats for 1.5 years before her diagnosis, had been vaccinated against FeLV, and previously tested as negative for FeLV. She has also had upper respiratory issues after we boarded her, which our vet diagnosed as Feline Herpes Virus. She lived 5 months from when she was boarded here, rather than into her teens like she should have. Prior to my cat getting sick I would have, and did, recommend this cattery to others. read more

We started boarding our elderly dog and cat at Noah's Ark after moving to the Triangle area. Lynn and her staff are great. Not only do the pets get great care, but when it comes time to pick them up, they seem like they'd rather stay there. We also had some health issues come up with our 13-year-old dog while we were traveling, and Lynn took the initiative (with our permission of course) to consult the vet next door. She is extremely knowledgeable and a delight to work with. The staff there always go the extra mile to make sure our dog and cat are happy and well cared for. I hate pet boarders; but if I have to like one, then I feel okay about this one. I kept Rex here a few Christmas-es ago when I failed to secure a friend, family member, or neighbor-who-owes-me, in advance to watch the dog at my place or at theirs. Luckily, there was still space at Noah's Ark. In this area, I think most people hire pet sitters or keep their furry friends at the high-end pet spas -- but I can't even afford those kinds of indulgences for myself! (acupuncture and therapeutic massage for animals?) -- so, Noah's Ark is more of a traditional kennel: cages that resemble prison cells (but are at least filled with fuzzy blankets and pillows). Each unit has a doggie door to the outdoor dog-run, which is a moderately sized fenced-in space. They let me bring in some playthings for Rex and they were very careful in checking to be sure he had all the necessary vaccinations. The kennel offers grooming services which I took advantage of; but pricing seemed a little high for the just-adequate job. The boarding rates are reasonable, and Rex didn't appear to be too traumatized when I picked him up days later. read more

I was really happy with the personal service there. I was late for a flight and literally dropped off my dogs at the kennel-they were really understanding about it. I also like that they don't charge a fee for a half day as long as you pick up your pet before noon. read more

The owners seem very nice, but the groomer is awful. I just took my dog there to get a "summer cut" and they basically gave him an extremely short and uneven buzz-cut. I asked that they "make sure it's not too short" and they clearly did not. It looked like a 5yr old with scissors did the cut (with the fortunate exception that there was no blood and my dog wasn't hurt). I can't recommend this place as a groomer. It was a traumatizing experience for me (and maybe for me dog as well) as he now looks like a mangy poodle. Fortunately hair grows back, so we'll just have to wait! read more

Lynn and her staff have been an incredible resource for us over the last 2 years. She knows us and our dog by name and is always accomodating and friendly. We have a tricky dog behaviorally and they have opened their arms to him and actually he has very little issues while he is there. We plan on using her for as long as we have dogs. read more

Having had two bad experiences boarding my dog here, I am not a fan of this place. The first time I boarded my dog here, I made a reservation weeks in advance, and when I brought him in the morning of my trip, I was told that I didn't have a reservation. Luckily they still had space, so it was okay, but I was surprised that the place seemed so disorganized. What would I have done if they couldn't take him? I had a flight leaving in three hours! The second experience also occurred on the morning before a plane trip. I had a morning flight, and I was told that the kennel would open at a certain time in the morning (can't remember exact time, say 8 AM). I chose to bring my dog in the morning instead of the evening before because I could make my flight as long as I got him there at 8 AM. Well when we got there at 8 AM, no one was there and the door was locked! Someone showed up around 8:10 AM, so we still made our flight, but that was the last straw for me. They didn't even apologize! Vacations and dog-boarding are too important to put in the hands of a disorganized business. Giving two stars instead of one because I feel like any place that takes care of animals deserves some props. read more
