I'm really sorry to say this. I don't normally do negative reviews, honestly. I moved to Alabaster three months ago and I've given this place two tries. The first time was a "spicy" chicken dish that you don't normally see on local menus. I even requested that it was made extra spicy. It had ZERO spice. And the vegetables did not match the dish description on their "order online" website. The steamed dumplings had no flavor and the dumpling sauce was also watery. I tried them again tonight, just to see if maybe it was a bad day the first time around. I ordered a combo plate that comes with an entree with fried rice and an eggroll. I paid $2 extra to upgrade my rice to lo-mein. I got home and... They gave me fried rice. My entree was sweet and sour pork and the oil they fried it in was so old that my whole house now smells like old, dirty, fishy smelling fryer oil. Sorry. Great local place. Always had fast friendly service and good food. I always order from the combination plates since they include choice of either steamed white rice or fried rice, and an egg roll. My favorite is the Mongolian Beef (pictured), which is pretty good. The other dish I tend to get is the House Fried Rice which is a good size portion. Others in the house have gotten a d likes the Honey Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, and most recently the Mongolian Chicken (pictured). They also use great containers for their to go orders. We have a few options for this or similar style cuisine in Alabaster. Green China is slightly above average for the taste, and near the top for value. The dinner combos are the way to go. Although we have gotten food from here a number of times, we have not eaten in the restaurant. When we picked it up a week or so ago, my husband said they still have the front door converted to a take out window. So while I regret not having dined in, I think this was a great pivot for the restaurant given the climate. The service is still quick and friendly. Portion sizes are generous. Among the favorites here are the House Fried Rice, Honey Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, and Mongolian Beef. There was some hesitation when my SO wanted the Mongolian Beef because it was marked as Hot & Spicy, but it's not. He's not a fan of hot/spicy, and he found it to be just fine. The egg rolls are always very good an not greasy like some can be. The only dish I have ever gotten and been disappointed is Pork with Garlic Sauce. I'll admit, I love this dish from another restaurant; I tried it twice from here. The first time, I thought I was given the wrong dish; the second time just confirmed they don't make it the same. It's sliced meat, and I was looking more for the pencil-sized strips, and it just didn't taste like the pork I know and love in this dish. I may look to try the same garlic sauce in another dish, as they offer it with several protein options. Last of all, I love their take out containers. Way easier to transport, not as messy, and better to store leftovers, IMO, which you will likely have with the aforementioned generous portions. Green means "GO," so do it! read more

First visit and I was impressed. Quick service, decent menu options and the young man taking my order was helpful selecting something. He asked my preferences for meat, (shrimp, chicken, beef) sauce, (brown, white, red) and cooking (stir fry, fried, steamed).I thought those were great questions to ask. Ordered dinner via DoorDash first time eating here and using door Jenn: Mongolian Shrimp w/ Lo Mein Kese: Large Shrimp Lo Mein 86 chestnut Kylah: Large Veggie Lo Mein 86 chestnut Jordyn: Small Shrimp Lo Mein House: Steamed Dumpings My Mongolian Shrimp was plentiful but the sauce was reallllllly sweet so that took a lot away from it for me. I added chili garlic sauce that I keep at home to it and that didn't help at all. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and they weren't as small as the shrimp in the Lo Mein. It was full of onion which I loved and so did everyone else bcus they loved my food. Steamed Dumplings were huge and the sauce that came with it was good as well. It wasn't mentioned on the menu so I don't know what it was. They were full of stuffing and just as expected but for the price of other places this is a steal. The order came with 8 for $4.75 Kese Lo Mein was delicious to me. It had plenty of veggies in it and the sauce wasn't as sweet as mine. The size of the shrimp also greatly differed from mine. I'd definitely order the Lo Mein again. I didn't taste Kylah's Lo Mein but it was full of veggies that I love. I would love this with shrimp added to it lol read more

This not a place to come to when you want something adventurous, interesting or delicious. Its not a place you'll tell your friends about. It's just one of those run-off-the mill Chinese American establishments that's in every suburban strip mall. These types of joints are only a light grade above chain fast food in my book. Now, dont think that I am trying to make it sound bad, it's not. It's just so boring that I fail to get any emotion into this review but the feeling of mediocrity. My meal? Steamed dumplings. I had the curry chicken and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was bland with nothing in the soup. There was no flavor. I didnt finish. The curry chicken was nothing special. Do yourself a flavor and pick up lunch here ASAP. The Thai beef & basil is an absolute dream. Lots of beef sautéed in a delicious sauce with asparagus, carrots, and a ton of fresh Thai basil. i've eaten at green china a few times. this time i ordered the mongolian beef with steamed dumplings. i ordered it through door dash. the dumplings were amazing. i love the sweet dipping sauce. the mongolian beef was much better than the mongolian shrimp. still pretty sweet even with soy sauce which isn't a favorable quality. but overall i will continue to order from this place. read more
