I would rather give zero stars to Green Drop. Their office assured me that the 7210 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306 location would be open so I drove nearly an hour to get my carefully packaged (as demanded by Green Drop because of Covid) goods there ahead of the 5:00PM closing. When I got there I saw 2 cars in the parking lot and a sign on the door stating that the attendant had gone to the restroom and would return in 5 minutes. I waited for over 20 minutes. The guy in the car beside me had been waiting for over half an hour. The woman from the car on the other side left a suitcase of items next to a large pile of bags and toys that had been dumped in the parking lot near Green Drop's trucks. The conduct of the Green Drop attendant shows complete lack of work ethic and integrity. Those who take the trouble to package goods according to Green Drop's demands for Covid and then travel to a location to donate these goods deserve better. Green Drop is supposedly working on behalf of multiple worthy charities (Purple Heart, Red Cross, National Federation of the Blind, St. Vincent de Paul). These charities lose out because of Green Drop. I will never offer anything to Green Drop again. read more

The person gave me a lot of attitude and claimed that they had picked up the donation. I don't know what they think they picked up. I strongly advise against donating to this service. read more

I would give Green Drop zero stars if it was possible. I wish I had read reviews before I reached out to Green Drop to make a donation. I had a donation pick up scheduled with Green Drop and they never came to pick it up. I called the next day and a representative said they would come the next day but she said I had to bring all the items to the curb. I have a bad back but I made the effort to accommodate their driver by moving 10 heavy bags to the curb and again they never came to pick up the donation. This is totally inexcusable. I will never donate to Green Drop again. There are plenty of other charities like Viet Vets, Lupus, Red Cross, Salvation Army or United War Veterans that are way more reliable and more accommodating. None of these other charities ever required that I bring my items to the curb like Green Drop and they've always come for scheduled donation appointments. read more

This was my second scheduled pick up with this organization. When I called they said they did not have me on their schedule the first time. This time I scheduled a month in advance and told them the items would be on the patio behind the house. When I woke up it was raining so I moved the items in the garage. Kept my doors open and kept a look out. Nothing.. Called at 3:45 pm and they put me on hold and returned and said the driver came by at 10:26 did not see my items in front of the house and kept going. Not sure what he could have seen or not seen since I have a fence and 5-foot-high privet hedges surrounding the property. I asked why the driver did not stop and knock on my door she responded ..."oh they do not do that". The woman on the phone said we never pick up at the back of the property. I then told her when I called they never mentioned putting things in front of the property and I specifically told them the items would be in the back patio and they never said a thing. She then offered to pick up the items in a few weeks. I am 71 years old and it took every bit of stamina for me to move these 15 heavy boxes up from the basement and outside. I will now have to call a junk dealer to pick up this stuff which is a shame because the items are all usable and could have made some money for the veterans. I scheduled the pickup for up to 24 bags in advance, labeled everything and made sure each bag was not heavy. They left a "sorry we missed you" sign in my mailbox, never rang the bell. When I called to ask what happened, the operator stated that our front steps were inadequate which was the first lie, then it was stated that the driver couldn't leave a message for me because my mailbox was full, lie # 2. Then the operator stated that the only way they would pick up the bags would be if all of the bags were put out on the street so they dont have to walk back & forth to their truck. They never showed up! I scheduled a pick-up online. 7 bags, 2 boxes and one glass frame. I woke up at 6:30 am to leave everything on my porch for the driver to pick up. I received a confirmation email. I even received a voicemail with instructions to leave everything on the porch by 7 am and the driver would have I believe 12 hours to pick up. 7:00 pm came and nothing. No phone call saying they couldn't make it, nothing. Apparently, I am not the only person they have left hanging. Please just make your donations elsewhere. Do not waste your time! read more

My husband brought a few things here once during the day and once in the evening. The daytime drop off went ok. The evening one - not so much. The worker was nowhere to be found half an hour before closing. I called the office and they said they have no way to reach the worker and they suggested we go into the store next to the truck and ask around to see if anyone had seen him. The next suggestion was that they would schedule a pickup. We did that and left the stuff outside by 7AM as indicated by the confirmation email, but they didn't come. I called at 5pm to voice my concern and they said they could come up till 7:30PM, but they didn't. My advice is to avoid this place and find a more professional organization to donate to. read more

Pick up was scheduled in advance, we patiently waited until the scheduled date for 3 weeks and the whole day when donation was supposed to be picked up. Nobody showed up. Send them an email and got a responce that truck got broken and next pick up can be arranged in 2 days , we just need to call the number. We did and were informed that next available pick up is in two weeks. 6 bags of clothes for ARC should wait. Person on the phone - Mery - was not very supportive. Don't think we will ever use this service again and definitely not recommend it to the friends. read more

We followed all packing rules, scheduled a pick-up where the driver never showed or even called, rescheduled, and was once again blown off without any reason or information. VERY frustrating... I scheduled my pickup two weeks ago and prepared some really good stuff in about 10 boxes. I indicated that I would have everything by the garage. (Greendrop has picked up this way before). I was walking the recycle bin down to the end of my driveway when I saw the truck drive by. I waved but he kept going. I waited for a bit and he returned after turning around. He rolled down the window and said "where is your stuff? It's supposed to be at the end of the mailbox." I told him I scheduled it for a garage pickup. He told me that they have a new policy that they can't drive on driveways. What????? Can't drive on driveways? I told him that was not indicated on the website. He said it was new. I told him there is no way I am hauling all those boxes to the curb when he can easily back his truck up the 100 yard driveway. He had a supervisor call me to say the same thing and as I was expressing my disappointment and reasonable frustration he hung up on me. So long to Greendrop... You will not be getting any more donations from me or just about anyone in this part of the county because we all have long driveways. BTW, I went back to their website just now and there is nothing about this new policy and the option to have the pickup at my garage is still there. read more

I have donated to Green Drop for years. I scheduled a pick up two weeks in a row and neither time did they bother to show up. I called the 800 number to ask why and they keep telling me that the driver would arrive at my house shortly, but they never did. FIND ANOTHER CHARITY TO DONATE! I packed my deceased mother's fine china, crystal and other household items very carefully along with many other items in the 12-15 bags and boxes I had for Purple Heart. My stepdad was in the service so I wanted to honor them both by donating to PH. My husband was home when the driver arrived and was shocked to see the guy tossing the boxes and bags into the back of a box truck which was already 3/4 filled. I even marked the boxes "FRAGILE" but that did not matter. My husband even handed him a box and the guy tossed it. My husband saw a picture frame crack in half. I was mortified when I heard this and called the GreenDrop office and explained I was extremely upset that my mother's belongings were trashed and there was no respect for the items which were to be donated to someone in need. She spoke to her supervisor who told her to take the information from me. No apology -nothing. I am guessing this is a regular practice and they must hear about it all the time and just don't care. I will NEVER donate to GreenDrop again and will go back to donating to a local thrift shop. read more

What a duffas I am for not reading the reviews before packing up my donations to drop off at the local Green Drop in Audubon, PA. Perhaps then I would not have been shocked & disillusioned by the shabby (read: RUDE) treatment I received when I dropped off 4 bags today. Something in the way I must have parked my car or my enthusiasm in feeling like I was doing something good for Purple Heart earned me the most minimal of grunts (it was really a grunt with distain, but I think you get the picture). The 1st guy who got up from his seat on the back of the truck actually walked towards me, but then turned around without bothering to pick up my 1st 2 bags & went back to his original sitting position without saying a word. It must have been the other guy's turn - the grunter. Skip the drama here unless you want to feel like you just made a really stupid decision driving right past the GoodWill Store where they actually help remove the bags from your car with a smile and offer a receipt for your donation. read more

Purple Heart should really find another pick up service. I had to wait over a month for an available pick up date. They requested the items be placed on the front porch by 7 am. 3 days later and there are still 19 boxes on my porch. I called early the morning after the scheduled pick up, I was told the driver could not pick up my package because they were more than 50 lbs. I know none of my packages are over 50 lbs, because I carried each box out myself. Also the boxes were not disturbed. I explained this to the woman on the phone and was told a supervisor would be contacting me. 2 days later, and still no phone call. I guess I will be dropping the donations off to a local thrift shop. Thanks for nothing Greendrop! read more

I arranged for the donation of 7 rooms of furniture to Greendrop, designating Purple Heart as the recipient. I have donated many times to Purple Heart over the years, clothes, cars, etc. Purple Heart was always reliable, picked up donations at my home, on-time. The pick-up date for Greendrop's so called "Concierge Service", was scheduled for June 8, 2018. The SVdp Marketing Coordinator Colleen Blair, came to my house two weeks prior, took pictures of all the contents being donated, told me what she would and would not accept, sent me a contract by email and confirmed the pick-up date twice. On June 8,2018, a small Greendrop truck with two young men came. They walked in, said they don't take furniture and indicated they were not from the Bensalem PA location, but Harrisburg PA facility and not representing Concierge services. They called their manager, who told them to leave and not take anything. I tried to contact Colleen, but she was out of the office, at a friend's funeral. I contacted Purple Heart, explained the situation and they transferred me to Linda Patrone, Concierge Services, who was the original person I spoke with weeks ago to start the process. Linda later got back to me and said there was a screw-up in scheduling trucks and the wrong truck/from the wrong location showed up. I certainly was at panic stage because we were moving/closing on our house in a few days and had counted on Greendrop to do this major collection, as we were downsizing to move into a much smaller home. At that point I contacted Veterans Helping Hands, York PA, an organization dedicated to helping Veterans. I was going to use them as a back up to take away items I was told that Greendrop would not accept. Shaun Walker, a volunteer, was at my house within an hour, looked at all the rooms of furniture. etc., and made a commitment to start pick-up that very evening. He finished the job on Saturday 6/9/18, bringing a crew of four volunteers, including Veterans Helping Hands President, Sandie Walker, taking everything from all the rooms, including the attic, and basement. He and his crew worked tirelessly to take everything. No words can accurately express my gratitude to this charitable organization who stepped in, when another major charity (Greendrop) failed. read more

While cleaning out a relative's home recently, we called Green Drop to pick up a large amount of merchandise that we were giving away. There is a shortage of charitable donation pickup service in the Newark De. area. After spending days and much effort in carefully packing glass and over 20 boxes of other fragile or semi-fragile items, we called for pickup. What happened next was disturbing and the reason we write this review. A single man arrived in a truck with no lift-gate. He opened the rear doors and what was visible was a 1/2 filled truck with unpacked contents. The man then proceeded to toss each of the boxes and bags that we had so carefully packed to donate for resale up and over the items already stuffed in the truck. The man was polite and he worked hard. However due to the use of an ill-suited truck with no lift-gate and a sole operator of the truck, I doubt that much of what we had carefully packed reached Purple Heart in an unbroken state. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME CAREFULLY PACKING THINGS FOR A GREEN DROP PICKUP. If possible, find a charity and either take the items to them or have them pick up. Habitat for Humanity is great and I have heard that some church organizations do this too. read more
