Unfortunately, our experience has left us extremely disappointed and concerned. We had a large trimming job done at our home and later had to have the company return after a branch from our Maple tree fell without severe weather or high winds. Since then, I have had multiple independent arborists evaluate the work, including one who performs both commercial and residential work for major organizations such as the Dallas Zoo and the Arboretum. Their findings raised serious concerns. Some of the issues identified included: * Maple tree: We repeatedly asked whether the tree was healthy or needed removal and were told it was healthy. Later we discovered significant rot and were informed by independent arborists that insect activity had likely been present for quite some time, including before the work was performed. We also had prior photos showing a crack that already existed. * Backyard Oak and Front Oaks: Independent evaluations indicated the trees appeared to be in significant stress after trimming, with concerns raised regarding the extent of pruning and the use of climbing spikes. * Pecan tree: We specifically asked about cabling and later learned from other arborists that the existing cable should have been addressed differently. * Crape Myrtle: Multiple arborists indicated that the pruning was not performed in a way that promoted healthy growth and that it may now contribute to weak limb development. * Tree sealant: We found numerous areas where sealant application appeared inconsistent and even found discarded cans left in the yard. Beyond the tree concerns, we specifically asked before hiring whether a licensed arborist would be involved in the process because we were relying on expert guidance. We later learned from another arborist that an alternative option could have been providing documentation to our insurance company rather than performing extensive trimming that may negatively affect long-term tree health. We paid a substantial amount for what we believed was expert tree care. Instead, we are now paying for additional evaluations and treatments and are concerned about the long-term health of our trees. The experience was made even worse by interactions we felt were dismissive and unprofessional. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe people should know our experience so they can ask detailed questions and seek multiple opinions before proceeding with major tree work with this company.

Unfortunately, he…read moretook no accountability and fabricated the facts of the situation and insinuated that I was rude to him and his staff. Response from the owner: Mr. Bettinger, I'm so sorry for all of the miscommunication between you and your Tree Masters Tree Service crew leader responsible for getting your job done to your satisfaction. I recall the job was changed from a Tree Trimming to a Tree Removal upon your request. A rough 'estimate' of the cost of removal was provided, but was not finalized until the crew leader could lay eyes on the tree in person. The crew leader was instructed to collect the $1800 for the removal. He chose to collect $1400 so you could hold onto your $400 until the stump could be grinded a few days later. The office contacted you and explained that the stump grinder they had with them that day was too small for such a large stump. They always carry a small grinder with them at all times, but since it switched from a Tree Trimming to a Tree Removal, they had to schedule a larger stump grinder. Once you were notified that the crew was coming back to grind the stump and to collect the final $400, you tried to get the price changed to $200 and then tried to get the stump grinded out for free. Thank you for posting a picture of the stump. It is very clear that a stump that size is worth a minimum of $400....a bare minimum. We have been providing quality and affordable Tree Trimming, Tree Removals and Stump Grinding for the residents and businesses of Carrollton, Texas for over 35 years. We don't mind bending over backwards to help a customer, but your words to me as the owner and other words spoken to our great staff of hard-working professionals in addition to refusing to pay an extremely fair price caused us to part ways. We have noticed that you have left reviews all over the internet and even contacted the BBB. I'm glad you did that so everyone here can decide if they want to provide service to someone who makes their own rules and chooses whether they want to pay for a service or try to get it for free by using threats of reviews. You simply can't please everyone! I'm thinking that if we would have done the entire job for free, that you would have still found an issue. You got a $2500 tree removal done for $1400 and refused to pay the $400 to finish the job. Instead of being grateful, you decided to go with a different approach. For that, we must say goodbye and good luck. Contractors beware! Reviews go both ways

I figured it was native to Texas, and I wanted a bit of shade in the backyard. It grew like a weed, and in three years it was giving us shade. In six years, it was over the roof, giving us shade, dropping leaves and twigs regularly, and we had to duck under its branches to mow the yard! I thought it might be a weeping willow, and I kinda fell in love with it. Unfortunately, I was the only one weeping, as the white willow's roots made a move on my house's foundation, and plumbing! Sorry Will, but ya gotta go! I searched Yelp, found several tree services that were local, and sent a short list to the husband. He called the one I put last on the list--skipping my top choices. He made the call, and Big Gorilla's owner showed up to give us an estimate. BGTS was $1,000 lower than a spitball quote we got from our roofer. I hate making decisions like this, and thought about getting more estimates....but I'm a procrastinator at heart, and I was impressed with BGTS's competent attitude. I decided to just get it done. The team of four--I think--came out the next day, blocking my driveway, (I didn't love that, but there's not much room on our street,) putting up cones to block their trucks, and got to work. By lunch, the tree was gone, the stump was ground six inches below the ground, and the roots threatening my house were dug up and destroyed. They had even gathered up all the sticks around the tree, and removed the debris as well. They left a small mound of woodchips to cover the hole left behind. My husband watched them on our home cameras, and he said they had pulled out monstrous roots, snaking through the yard. It's kind of sad to see the tree gone. It's even sadder to see the money gone to remove it. Not gonna lie, I thought about buying a chainsaw and sending hubs, and son-in-law out for a much cheaper DIY. But arms and fingers don't grow back, and even if they could take it down, the stump would remain without buying the heavy equipment. BGTS did exactly what I needed. They were on time, professional, efficient, didn't damage my plumbing, or the sprinkler system, cleaned up after themselves, and took a credit card payment at the door. They will now be first on my list I'm shopping for fruit trees now!

Timely, professional and cost effective. I appreciate their workmanship and highly recommend.read more
