We have had the pleasure of working with Maxwell and Green Light on two separate projects. In 2023 we did a full bathroom remodel with Green Light Construction, and we loved working with Maxwell and the whole team. Maxwell works with excellent tile installers and cabinet makers, and we are thrilled with the end result. Our bathroom not only looks fantastic, but Maxwell was very thorough in making sure all the quirks that had gone into prior renovations of our 1909 home were fixed, and we feel so much better about the quality of our home than we did prior to construction. Maxwell was consistently excellent at communication, and was calm and kind with all of our questions and minor changes that came up on our end during the process. Everything came in on-budget and on-time, with no surprises. We wish we had more renovation needs, because we would love to work with Greenlight again. In July 2025, we had Maxwell and his team back to build an exterior deck/set of stairs, move a dryer vent, and build a wisteria trellis. Maxwell was very responsive, as usual, and was able to fit us into his schedule. The crew cleaned up thoroughly everday and minimized any disruption to our yard. We can't say enough about how great Maxwell is. Our house was built in 1914, and we wanted our new bathroom to fit with the rest of the house while also feeling modern and comfortable. Maxwell understood that from day 1 and guided us through the process every step of the way, letting us make our own decisions while making sure we had all the information we needed. Throughout the whole renovation, Maxwell and Lathen were great about walking us through what they were doing, updating us, looping us in on every decision, and are both fun guys to be around. The tilers, plumbers, and electricians Maxwell brought in were all excellent, and gave us confidence that we'll never have to redo the bathroom again. We hired Maxwell and Devon to finish our unfinished basement (re-do stairs to basement, new bedroom, full bathroom, laundry/utility room, bar, and living room, new HVAC and AC, and new water lines throughout the house), create a back door in our kitchen, and a new covered patio going out to the backyard. Maxwell and his designer Kathryn did an excellent job listening to what we wanted, and created a design that flowed perfectly in the space we had, within the budget we were targeting. We initially started working with Maxwell and Devon before the pandemic hit. As soon as it did, they immediately implemented safety protocols and did an excellent job social distancing and required mask wearing. When sub-contractors were working in the basement, they worked on other projects outside the basement, so there weren't too many people in an enclosed space at once. On top of dealing with all of the bumps of a large scale project, in the middle of a pandemic, they did excellent and timely work on all fronts, and were a joy to get to know and work with on a daily basis, which says A LOT. When I had a cabinet fit issue he even put in a temp so I could be up and running while waiting for a long term fix. We needed a full remodel of our bathroom, down to the studs and including replacing the entire subfloor and floor, due to extensive dry rot and mold damage, and Maxwell and his team came to our rescue. Maxwell, Matt, and Jonathan did all the work themselves, aside from the very capable plumbers and electricians who they contracted with. The job was much more complicated than a simple remodel, involving changing the bathroom layout, building a new wall between the sink and shower rooms, redoing all of the supply and drain lines in the basement plumbing, and upgrading and moving the electrical service to the house. Maxwell and his team were a joy to work with - prompt, knowledgeable, impeccably clean and well organized, and cheerful when confronted with unexpected challenges (having to move part of our fence to accommodate the new electrical meter placement, among other things). Green Light had previously done a great job replacing our front door and remodeling my mother-in-law's kitchen, and we'd hire them again for any and all remodeling projects. Maxwell and Devon did a great job on our master bath remodel. Everything was replaced, including the floor. A minor remodel (replacing the vanity and painting) was also done in a guest bath. Maxwell is hard working, organized and an all around great guy. There were a few hiccups (as happens with any complex project), but none were the fault of Maxwell, and he handled them beautifully. My project included 1200 sq ft of the original 1933 basement. We essentially opened up the guts of the house and it needed significant updating. We created a new bedroom, new bathroom, remodeled a kitchen/TV area, updated laundry and new office area. This required significant updating of electrical, plumbing, insulation, etc. Maxwell is part of the FIR program which helped greatly in getting timely inspections along the way. Maxwell did all his due diligence on the project up front. There were NO surprises along the way because of his careful planning. He is a good communicator, writing me weeky reports of what was accomplished and letting me know what to expect for the next week. He is a good problem solver and found solutions for design issues that worked really well. His planning is thorough and solid. He came in on budget and on time. I have done three other remodel jobs on my house with other contractos and this has been the best! Maxwell, Devon and all the subs were great. We used Green Light Construction to remodel our basement. In order to add a bedroom, upgrade a 1/2 bath to a full bath, and add a family room we needed to also update plumbing and electrical. We got bids from several companies, and we were very direct about budget limitations. Maxwell was very honest with us when we found an issue with our plan, and he worked with us to revise the plan to meet our budget. He handled all the sub-contractors beautifully, and we never had any issues with timing or staying on budget. The project was complete in about 6 weeks, and we were very happy with the results. Everyone we met was very nice and helpful. Matt was onsite every day at 8 am and has a great eye for detail. He often went above and beyond and cleaned up everyday. We had been dreading remodeling our bathroom due to the price and the inconvenience but knew that, with a baby on the way, we needed to fix the leak that was bringing water into our kitchen. Max gave us a reasonable bid and was able to complete the job in a timely matter, even with a few hiccups (leaking skylight, ants nests found in the walls). They were super clean, making sure to sweep and vacuum nightly before they left. Maxwell and his crew recently did a full renovation of the kitchen in our 1926 bungalow. Our kitchen came in on budget, on time, and with incredible workmanship. We would work with Maxwell again on any project and recommend him without reservation. Maxwell and Devon were on site every day and so easy and fun to work with. Maxwell's subs for design, flooring, cabinets, plumbing, electrical and tiling were all very good; his excellent relationships with them had obviously built up goodwill for flexibility in scheduling and quick addressing of the very few problems that arose. Maxwell has a similarly excellent relationship with the city inspectors; his planning ahead and solid reputation helped our project pass all inspections the first time around. The work area was sealed off and fully cleaned up at the end of every day. Our project was a tricky one, fitting all the elements of a modern kitchen into an area with three doors and a full wall of windows, and required several custom solutions. Maxwell worked with us up front to develop a viable plan with a doable budget and gave great advice about where to spend money and where to save it. Once the budget was set, he stuck to it and went above and beyond in all the finishing details to make the project just right.
