The job was completed exceptionally well--professionally, efficiently, and in a timely manner. The team not only provided excellent service but also took the time to guide me on what to expect and how to handle everything. To my surprise, when I arrived home, the work was fully completed to a high standard. I am extremely satisfied with the overall experience.

We lived there from 2020 through 2021. It was a mixed bag of great and not-so-great stuff…read more Our apartment was sort of old (despite their website photos of new remodeled units), where everything felt painted over as makeup. But it was clean, well maintained on the inside. And we used it with care, so nothing broke. The green areas around the buildings are also well maintained and mowed regularly. Snow plowing was always on top, done whenever necessary. Speaking of old: the A/C-furnace was *CRAZY* noisy. It's an old super loud engine inside your house! Eventually you'll learn to live with it, but noticing it is unavoidable: it's a small apartment. The only way to damp the noise would be staying inside the room and shutting doors. Mara, the manager, is smart and friendly. But office staff is regularly overwhelmed. Constantly putting out day-to-day small fires. And as they're running a business, they're after each cent you owe. Absolutely no rounding down cents. - "So you need to extend your moving another 3 days? Sure, no problem. Here's a prorated charge for a full week." Another source of income (for them) are covered garages. The garages are rented separated from your apartment contract. So for an extra monthly fee you can have a place to park your car nearby in a designated roofed spot. Or you can park wherever spot is available in front of the buildings - first come, first served basis. If a next door neighbor decided to throw a party, you'd have to park pretty far from your place. They also make money being middlemen between tenants and utilities providers, adding their "admin fee" here and there. This is not hidden, they're clear upfront before you sign the contract. Still, it's a bummer of several fees littering the final monthly leasing price. Speaking of which, they have a crazy pricing model based on demand + advanced payment: if people are willing to rent there, prices go up on a daily basis until you close your contract, and if you're willing to secure a lower contract, you should pay it in advance. Again: it's not shady, nor unfair. These are their rules, presented upfront. It's up to you to accept them or not. We have arrived one month before 2020 lockdown so we were lucky to have our stuff settled down before that. On the other hand, pool, gym and community areas were closed for a year, so I cannot assess them. Maintenance crew was always courteous and responsive too. Except when it involved the exterior of the apartment. Our rear deck had some nails constantly poking out (from the natural movement of the construction itself), and several rusted heavy duty staples dangerously poking out (see photos) just waiting for someone to walk barefoot. I had to remove them myself after a couple of months as the crew ignored these exterior calls. Also, the main entrance door that was heavily skewed and out of alignment: I fixed it myself as I knew how to. The water heater and laundry room were tiny but functional and dependable. Also dependable was the noise isolation between apartments. Each building holds 8 apartments: 4 downstairs, 4 upstairs. We lived upstairs and our neighbors were mostly quiet. Whenever the next door neighbor decided to play loud music, it was barely noticeable - except their bass, that came through walls. So, overall it's a nice place to settle for a while: it's safe, well maintained, administered by great staff. But don't forget: with a incredibly crazy noisy loud A/C-furnace system.

We concur with all of the negative reviews. You find all the issues as you start living there…read more Looked great initially, but the list of problems continue to mount. I cannot suggest strongly enough to stay away from Shodeen. So far their customer service is like pulling teeth. If you don't get every little thing on a "punch-list" immediately you are likely going to have to argue with them to get it fixed. Even after we have put things on their precious punch list, we kept having to ask over and over for things to get fixed. The price of the house was attractive, but I think we could have done better for only a little bit more. This is a home in Reston Ponds in Sycamore, IL

The place was clearly…read morebuilt fast and cheap as you will hear your neighbors and any type of foot traffic in the hallway. The price for this place is way overpriced and you usually have to pick if you want the advertised rent price or the promo (your rent will be higher than advertised then, especially if you want a higher floor). This is along with the manager there who only cares about money and nothing else. The rest of the staff is nice, thankfully. If you have a dog, they require you to take samples of the dogs stool (no lie) and send it in for testing so they can fine someone if they don't clean up after your dog--what kind of place does this? additionally, they keep building here , but don't expand amenities so it'll most likely be a crowded pool and gym. Go elsewhere.

They have an older property but have done a good job at maintaining their grounds. They have probably one of the nicest swimming pools I have seen at an apartment complex, however I never used it. Their rates are a little high in my opinion, and would have never moved if I didn't get a new job an hour north of there. The long drive and tolls were gauging me! Dorris the manager is a sweetheart and was always helpful, so were the maintenance team members. Kathy was always very nice to me too... I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a really quiet community. The downfall is that I drive a motorcycle and shared a spot with my car (which is logical so I free up more parking spots) but certain old, cranky, and miserable neighbors with nothing better to do were upset because I always parked in a spot where I could see from my balcony. Without having a garage to park in, I didn't like my brand new Harley Davidson out of my viewpoint. Also do NOT park in the fire lane, NOT EVEN FOR 10 MINS. N.A.P.D., are douchebags with nothing better to do than to ticket your car while you are unloading groceries. I received 2 tickets while living there when my car had the hazards on and the trunk open....smh. Then when my car had gotten plowed into in the parking lot by a fellow tenant who didn't see me that ripped my whole bumper off, N.A's finest refused to come out and fill out a police report because it was "private property!!!!!" Double standards, but nothing against CVW... Just saying, "watch out!"

Every time the maintenance man comes out he says everything is fine! The AC DOES NOT WORK IF YOU WANT UR APARTMENT LOWERE THAN 71 degrees in the late summer heat, it completely shuts down and doesn't come back on until the next day! We paid the extra for the premium apartment with granite countertops and lighter nicer cabinets and one of the drawers has been unusable broken since before we moved in. The sink faucet is ancient and takes both hands to turn to put water in the other sink. The sprayer hose for the sink leaks and works only occasionally. The community pool, well it's GREEN and looks like an algae cesspool. There is NO elevator so good luck trucking all of ur shopping up the stairs week after week. Also, if u plan on moving a sofa into ur apartment, it won't fit through the tiny doorway to the apartment. It's a struggle to even get a loveseat into this tiny doorway and around the right corner!
