I pretty much hated my stay at casa che, which I will from here on our refer to as "this hostel". I…read morebooked this on hotels.com/expedia and it looked great and had good reviews. I found it to be so unprofessional and strange I have to give it only one star. First of all I was supposed to pay $1904 mexican pesos for the room upon check-in. This hostel contacted me early and asked me to pay $106 USD. I didn't look back at my agreement and just trusted them. It turned out... if I had charged the room on my crefid card when I got there as per my agreement with hotels.com it would have only cost me about $93.34. When I brought this to their attention they promptly brought up our email correspondence reading to me where I agreed to pay the other price saying, "Well you agreed to it didn't you?" - Very dishonest. Very disappointing. SHAME! Then they were ignoring calls from hotels.com THREE TIMES! When they called on my behalf to resolve the issue. Finally I just sent a bunch of documents to my credit card... I had paid through paypal and they agreed with me and credited my card $12.55. This HOSTEL is somewhat close to the ADO bus station. EXCEPT! EXCEPT! The hostel has no signage. They are too cool for a sign. They are too cool even to put their address number on their building. They are too cool even for their customers. Then they will say... we are in a residential neighborhood and we are not allowed to have a sign! But the business next door has a sign! Can you not even have an address #?? Come on! When I book at a place I kind of expect to be staying in the place. But no! They led me down the street and turned onto another street and into some other random apartments building with no signage! No explanation as to whether it is owned by the hostel or who lives there. The front door is supposed to remain locked to provide some "security" but it was always propped open. Besides... who even stays or lives there in the first place - no explanation! For sure people talking loudly very late at night. The room has no quilt. Just a sheet. Just a sheet underneath you and a thin sheet on top of you. For me this was unacceptable. NOW! I admit I have no idea whether this is a regional thing... but I have stayed at other hotels in mexico and they all had quilts. I could not sleep very well because of this issue. I didn't have any phone service but I did march over to the main building on the other street and they did give me a small "throw"-sized blanket. I didn't really sleep for two nights. I was too cold and didn't feel secure! Because the back patio door DID NOT LOCK. So were in a completely different building in a room that did not lock. We always wondered if our stuff would be there when we got back. Worst worst worst hostel because of the awful staff and management. OK by the way it is very very clean. Breakfast is self-serve with limited eating space. Staff is super snobby and refuses to be helpful in person or on the phone. Also no TV but no biggie on that. If you are young and don't know better you might enjoy this place because it is cool looking. Don't attempt to go to this hostel if you are over 30 Shame!

Absolute worst Hostel experience of my life. Do not stay here! I was assaulted by another hostel…read moreguest who sucker punched me and ended up knocking my two front teeth inwards. It was a completely unprovoked attack. The "experience" staff Yazmin and Romina completely failed to follow any proper protocol. They didn't call the police. They didn't call me emergency medical care. Instead, they left me to bleed all night by myself until I could figure out where to get emergency medical and dental services the next morning. Keep in mind it was also my birthday! Even though the guy who attacked me was also an American tourist, the hostel refused to release his name to me! He checked in on October 29th and they had all of his information and yet they still refused to give it to me so I could pursue charges. Cozme the manager said he would look into it and just kept pushing it off every day on purpose. Then they treated me like I was some outcast. Completely ignoring me and shunning me until I checked out on November 3rd. I had to get a emergency flight back home. I am currently undergoing medical and dental appointments to try and save my teeth. I may have to get fake implant teeth now and I'm an actor in New York City. Absolutely unacceptable behavior and failure to assist their guests in great times of need and emergency situations. That is not how you treat your human family. Hostel is a joke, pretty much run by "grown-up" children. They only care about partying and scamming guests for tours that they charge extra for to make money. Also, no hot water. Bathrooms that flood with peoples urine and other human waste. I wish I would have never stayed here. Completely ruined my 30th birthday trip and I'm now looking at months of medical and dental treatments.

I stayed at this hostel which is why I'm writing the review. It wasn't hostile here at all! So I…read moredon't know why they called it that?? ¡Good atmosphere! A lot of folks were saying 'Como Estas' - I appreciated this culture. Very friendly staff here - I liked them all (most of them (I'm kidding around)). There was a daily excursion to meet other folks. we played Uno at the cenote (even though there was some people not saying uno when they had one card left, but it's fine, I'm over it now). One guy even had a blue card and said 'blue-No', I didn't get the joke and I still don't. At the same cenote, there was a man who told us that if we jumped into the water w sunblock on, he would be mad & would sniff it out. I tested the theory and put a bit on my left thumb. He smelled it! Always listen to authorities in Mexico! Especially when you're extorted by the polica for not wearing a helmet on a moped. I told them I spoke English but they kept politely speaking Spanish - way to be patriotic guys! ¿Que Paso?
