We were here for a wedding- it was HOT! The hotel is nice. Service was so-so but staff is friendly. Some nights we got turn down service, and some nights we didn't. No clear reason why. When I asked for a 2hr late checkout (keep in mind, they were at low capacity)- they wanted to charge me. I've never encountered that at any hotel when going to Mexico. They typically work with your flight schedule. The wedding food wasn't very good- the salad was so overdressed that I literally choked on the dressing, and same with the chicken- it was saturated in sauce. Although, I've been to a Fairmont wedding at another location so I was expecting that from the food. The Japanese restaurant on site is great though! I personally wouldn't stay here again...I would opt for Rosewood or Alila next door. read more

This resort was the worst experience we had in mexico. The food is beyond terrible, even the Saffron restaurant that they claim is their best was at best cart food. But seriously the food not only was beyond disgusting the prices are insane, you pay prices as if you dine at the Four Seasons however the food is terrible! Service - at the beach the staff pretend they dont see you, most staff look like they dont want to be there. The beach is also very ugly with the seaweed barriers its just not at all appealing. The resort is big but it looks unkept and not at all modern by 2025 standards. The only positive thing the room seemed clean but the bed definetly uncomfortable. Stayed for a week for a friends 40th birthday and all I have to say is WOW! Service at every point was amazing. We checked in which took a little bit of time because it was busy. Room was incredible with amazing views. The bar in the lounge served fresh sushi and exotic drinks. We did the all inclusive and their selection of alcohol included was well worth the price. The Italian restaurant had a great vibe to it and all of our servers stayed after closing to make sure we were taken care of until the end. The breakfast buffet had a ton of options to choose from and overlooked the lagoon. The bike rides through the property were fun and there were plenty of golf carts to take us around when we didn't feel like walking. At night, the bar by the ocean was perfect for a nightcap and fresh ocean breeze. The only complaint we had was we couldn't stay longer. 10/10 we will definitely be back! read more

Careful with giving your credit card. I had a reservation booked through travel zoo and couldn't make. I called travel zoo, Fairmount reservations and the hotel reservations and they couldn't figure out how to cancel. After many calls I was told the reservation was "released!" I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with the exception of the raccoons on the balcony- kind of grossed me out. The staff is wonderful, the property is clean and very well maintained. I don't enjoy too many families while vacation but if you have small children this place seems to accommodate for them nicely. The gift shops are terrific. Also, I dont love man made beaches but the place does a nice job with curating water activities for groups or individuals. The location is nice if you want to venture out to Banyan Tree, Rosewood or Andaz like we did. Also, a short drive and cheap can ride you can visit either The Edition or The St. Regis- both worth having a look. I wanted to write a review about the Steakhouse at the Fairmont called Tauro - although the Manager was very inexperienced and didn't understand how to maximize revenue the food and drinks were stellar- pictured- an awesome cocktail! Great meal I highly recommend it and do make rezzies they aren't quick to accommodate walk-ins. read more

Fairmont is one of four properties that's part of mayakoba. We chose this one because it's all inclusive. We had such an amazing time here. We're already talking about coming back next year! Rooms: We were a group of four that chose adjoins rooms. Pretty standard resort type decor, clean and aesthetically pleasing. Hindsight, we may have enjoyed the heritage rooms where it's up to three or four bedroom condos. With the all inclusive, you can enjoy anything in the mini bar! Food: we really enjoyed the food here. Our favorite was Tauro, the steak house. Part of why it was our favorite is because of Bryan , who was our waiter, who we really appreciated his personality and charisma, and made excellent recommendations. Other dinner/lunch places included Italian, Japanese, Mexican, middle eastern, Korean bbq and seafood (the all inclusive does not include the Korean bbq or seafood). They have a buffet breakfast that had good options. You can order food at the pool or in the rooms Pools: they have several pools. The main pool is for everyone, including kids, where they have a water slide. They have an infinity pool that's adults only that looks into the mangrove. And they have another infinity pool by the beach that's for everyone. They have an older pool by the rooms that's pretty empty Beach: they have direct beach access with a very nice stretch of beach that connects to other hotels. They have complimentary kayaks, paddle boards, and catamaran which was amazing. They have plenty of chairs and cabanas. Had a good time just lounging by the pool and beach Transportation: probably takes 30-40mins to get to and from the airport. They can stand transportation to the sister resort if you're interested. Within the resort, there's golf carts and bikes that can take you around. They also have a nice boat tour that shows you the nature aspects of the resort and other sister resorts Service: I would say the service in general was excellent. A Magical Stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba - Thanks to Incredible Service from Agustín and Monica We recently returned from the most wonderful stay at the Fairmont Heritage Mayakoba, and I cannot say enough about the exceptional service we received--particularly from Agustín Ortiz and Monica Cervantes. Agustín was the heart of our experience. From the moment he introduced himself, we knew we were in kind and capable hands. He went above and beyond in every way--whether it was helping us navigate the resort, securing last-minute dinner reservations, arranging transportation, or simply checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. His warmth, kindness, and responsiveness made all the difference. Every interaction with him was marked by genuine care and professionalism, and he anticipated our needs before we even voiced them. Monica was also incredibly helpful, and her gracious demeanor added to the sense that we were truly being cared for during our stay. Listen! If I could give the Fairmont Mayakoba more than five stars, I would, without question! This resort vastly exceeded mine and my husbands' expectations. From the moment we checked in right up until checkout, each and every step, activity, and interaction was exceptional! I had serval interactions with the staff at Fairmont prior to my trip in July, both via email and telephone. Our initial trip was scheduled for the end of May, but due to my husband's passport being delayed, we had to postpone. Through every interaction, the staff was extremely friendly, understanding and very accommodating. They definitely had me looking forward to my visit. When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by a kind lady who was checking cars into the entrance for the four mayakoba properties. She politely asked for our names and the resort we were checking into. Often times you hear about how unsafe traveling to other countries can be, but it was clear we would be safe at this resort, literally no one was let in and even out without checking in and having a purpose for being at the resort. I was truly taken aback by the beauty of the resort grounds. It was as if we were being dropped right in the middle of paradise. We were surrounded by beautiful palm trees and exotic flowers, chirping birds and friendly faces, all welcoming us to Mexico. At the front of the resort, we were greeted by several gentlemen. One took our bags for sanitization, another had us washed our hands at a nearby sink and another checked our temperatures and had a sign a form. Safety first from start to finish. The staff at the front desk was equally friendly and helpful, the check-in was seamless. We were even offered a seven-day upgrade for the price of one night. We gladly accepted the upgraded room because we were on our honeymoon and wanted the best room and experience possible. After checking in, another gentleman escorted us to our room and gave us a tour of the facilities. The rooms at the Fairmont Mayakoba are absolutely gorgeous! Honestly, the pictures on their website did the property no justice. They were extremely spacious, very clean, well air-conditioned and very homey. The mini bar which was included in the all-inclusive package was very well stocked and filled daily. The room also had other essentials such as lotion, body wash, shampoo and conditioner to name a few. The resort offers bicycles and golf carts with drivers to transport guests through the resort grounds. I would also suggest walking when you can so that you can really experience how beautiful this place it. There are tree throughout which provide ample shade during your walking. All of the restaurants on the grounds except for I believe three are included in the all-inclusive package and in-room dining is also included with a minimal fee. While my husband and I had awesome experiences at each and every restaurant, La Laguna and La Playita were definitely our favorites. From the staff, to the decor, to the delicious food, to the strong drinks, to the views, five-star service all around. The condition of the beach wasn't the greatest during our stay. Mexico is currently experiencing a very bad seaweed problem and the ocean was completely covered in it. There were about 50 men walking the beach daily, cleaning up the seaweed from dusk until dawn. The smell could become quite overwhelming, but it was out of the resorts control and something that we were able to tolerate, especially because the views were still absolutely beautiful. But the end of our trip, they had better control of the issue and the water was much more swimmable. The pools on the other hand were very well maintained and clean. There were two smaller pools at the beach, several right beside La Laguna and some of the rooms had private pools attached to them. The water temperature was just right, definitely a welcomed escape from the Mexico heat. There are many other amenities available to the guests staying on the resort such as the spa, boat tour, water sports and activities for children, so requiring additional fees. You can also obtain your required Covid-19 testing right on the resort. All of these amenities can be reserved and/or booked through the staff at the first desk. Again, if I could give this resort more than five stars, I would because they earned it! I will definitely consider staying at any of the Mayakoba resorts (you have access to all four while staying in Mayakoba, btw) when I return to Cancun in the near future. We loved being walking distance to the beach and getting to take golf carts and boats around the property. We were very fortunate to have Agustin and Vanessa as guides throughout the trip. This resort in my opinion is overpriced for the quality of this place. Lots of construction, grounds are not kept up well, room had things broken in it, handle fell off door. Food was good but seriously SO pricey. The spa was in a room suite because again more construction. ( message with Margareta was wonderful.) Beach is far from most of the rooms, you have to take a bike or tram. We were backed up to cannel which we could not sit on patio because it stunk. To start off, the design and grounds of this resort are spectacular. Management of this hotel have a clear focus on maintaining the visual aesthetics of the resort grounds and facilities. The location is secluded and peaceful. There are lovely paths around the resort and the immaculately groomed golf course. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. The beach is cleaned every morning to remove any sea weed or debris that has washed up on the shore. In addition, the food at the hotel restaurants is delicious. The service at the Willow Springs spa was also fantastic. So why only four stars? Because some of the less visible aspects of the Fairmont Mayakoba were less optimal. I work in the field of user experience design and this Fairmont hotel has numerous little obstacles that hinder the serenity of the guest experience. First, for anyone less able to move around easily, getting around the resort requires a good amount of walking. For the older person that I see as the resort's primary clientele, it would be better to have the option for shuttles to pick up at individual residences instead of having everyone walk 300 meters to catch a shuttle. In addition, some of the paths are quite dark at night. My wife and I discussed how the resort would not be a good fit for our parents for these reasons despite the availability of amenities such as the golf course and restaurants that they would love. Second, finding one's way around the resort is challenging without printed maps available of the resort grounds. I've posted a picture of the only map available which doesn't show how to get to individual residences. I spent a good amount of time in my first day and a half at the resort figuring out how to get to where I wanted to go. Third, some items in our rooms were not working when we checked in. These included a drip in both of our bathroom faucets, sliding glass door latch with screws so loose that it was falling off, a light with a bulb not working, and a fire alarm with a low battery that emitted a low chirp every 10-15 seconds (luckily this was fixed by our second night). Finally, the stone flooring used in the rooms and in other parts of the resort looked magnificent but could be slippery when wet. Getting assistance with ordinary requests is also a bit of a challenge. The staff knows their duties but they also seem to stick to what they have been told to do. My wife was not feeling well and requested a chicken soup from room service. She was initially told that was not available. Also, requests for a bottle opener, towels, and additional bottles of water took longer than expected to be fulfilled. When checking out, I called to get a summary of our room charges to review but got sent to an answering machine. Would I return to this hotel? Probably. Does the hotel management have work needed to bring this resort to an international five star level? Definitely read more

From my arrival to the moment I left everything felt perfect. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left they made us feel at home. The rooms are wonderful as well the beds are incredibly comfortable you will not want to get up. The bathrooms are spacious and have very good lighting. We decided to try a few of their restaurants and let me tell you they have very talented chefs. The food here is delicious! You will not get bored with the vast variety of restaurants and different cuisines they offer. I highly recommend la Laguna (their Mexican restaurant) its delicious. Not only do they have incredible food but they also offer a large list of activities like tours on a boat, bicycle rides, cooking classes, kayaking, cenote, they even have an arcade! There's always so much to do and explore in this beautiful place I can guarantee you won't be bored. Stunning design, at the lobby and restaurants. Beautiful updated rooms. The look is design forward, beach modern, clean, elegant and eco-chic. You need to download their app to navigate around a schedule or contact concierge/front desk anytime. I used it often and the staff was responsive even at 12midnight! The main pool was walkable from our room. Rooms 1000s to 3000s i would say is close to La Laguna (restaurant) the main pool with a slide and an infinity pool at the end. It is pretty huge with a lot of space and privacy for each party. Beach, pool and restaurant by the beach --- the sand, ample lounge chairs, umbrellas, activities -- beautiful! We had breakfast here and the food was good. The service was excellent. The view was gorgeous. The crowd was a mix of young families and couples. The ambiance was very high end. There were not a lot of people so there's a feeling of exclusivity. The kids loved playing in the sand and beach after breakfast. The hotel provided sand toys for borrowing. We headed to the pool around lunch for a change of scene and ordered lunch by the pool. Service by the pool was not as excellent as the waiters we're running around and hurrying to attend to other guests. Not sure why but I found it odd since we ordered a lot. Getting around. Golf carts to the beach. For rooms 1000-6000, you can't simply walk less than 5mins to the beach, as of now you can either wait for a golf cart to shuttle you or bike as they provide a lot of bikes around the lobby and main areas. Waiting for the golf cart can take from 10-20mins which isn't ideal. Sometimes while shuttling you back or to the beach, the carts need to wait for golfers to finish a turn since the roads are not as wide. There's a bit of railway-type coordination with the carts as they have traffic personnel radioing each other to make sure golf cart shuttles are not on the same route. I assumed this can't be their permanent solution for getting guests to the beach. I was told they were constructing a path that cuts through the mangroves for a quicker access to the beach from the main area rooms in time for the LIV golf tournament to be held late February 2023. Hopefully getting to the beach would be more straightforward after then. Biking if it's your first time can also get you lost, not to mention despite having a lot of bikes parked around the main areas, a lot need to be tuned up, adjusted, need air, need gears repaired. They actually need a bike shop to maintain these bikes. I found one bike that worked for me after looking at 6 bikes. It got me to a frustrating point. That would also help with getting to the beach faster when the direct path is finished. They do have rooms located by the beach, you have a better more secluded pool that is steps from the beach, an all day restaurant and evening rooftop bar. Those rooms are the beach front casitas and numbers 8000 and up. Kids club. Its by the Brisas restaurant on the beach. I took a peek and it was empty. The facilities looked cool. There was ample space and they even have a wadding pool to themselves. They need 24hrs in advance reservation of a spot so I guess no one reserved that day. I would definitely use this service if we went to the spa for a couples massage. Activities. We tried the river cruise which was mainly bird watching around Mayakoba. If you want to catch a tour book it right when you arrive. They fill up quickly. We boated around the entire property catching a glimpse of Andaz and Rosewood resorts. We found quite a bit of birds. We also tried paddle boarding by the beach. The restaurants we tried were: - Brisas (by the beach/pool) - excellent service, good food. Breakfast here with a view of the beach. Loved the ambiance! - La Laguna for dinner - Drinks were great. Lovely sugar cane and tequila cocktail that I can't remember the name of. Also really liked the octopus dish here. - Fuego by the beach - also excellent service. Weather did not cooperate that evening but the waitstaff did a great job at ushering us to a roofed spot. Great food. Catch of the day was superb! Unforgettable pineapple cake dessert - it was an actual pineapple caramelized to perfection topped on a thin cake topped with ice cream. Service was over all great. The rooms were kept clean. Housekeeping was quick to bring our requests of a step stool, slippers and kids robes. Staff was always polite. We were lucky to have not had to wait too long for the carts when we needed to be somewhere but members from our party did have trouble a few times. 4 stars because of the getting around issue. The beach is the best spot here and they are working on getting folks to it. I would have loved to see the Kids Club in action but do not fault them for not having anyone there since it requires a reservation in advance. we stayed here from July 31 - Aug 4. it was very underwhelming and overall disappointing. size: beautiful resort, but just way too big. so be prepared to golf cart everywhere. bikes are available but scarce. beach: no one is close to the beach except for like 10 villas that have a pool. the rest of the resort on average is a 10 min golf cart ride to the beach and 20 min walk if you can't catch one. the beach isn't anything spectacular either. pools: pools are nice. hidden gems are the smaller plunge pools on the beach by Ki bar. service: in general, service was not great. most of the workers did not seem happy to be there. and were not super friendly or helpful. food: food was pretty terrible. except for bassano, the italian restaurant. we consistently had good meals there. accommodations: only ok. nothing special. they make it seem like a room on the lagoon is spectacular. it's not. shout out to veronica, manager of Bassano, who was great and to Geronimo, the bartender at Aqua. other than that- subpar service. In conclusion, I won't be back here. for the money you pay, it is 100% not worth it. don't waste your time or money! read more

We stayed 4 nights at the Fairmont Mayakoba (Oct 18th - Oct 21). Booked via AMEX Platinum card Fine Resorts & Hotels program for some added benefits. //ARRIVAL// - our flight reached in the evening time. Rented a car from CUN and drove straight to the property. We made a small pit stop to grab some water bottles from a gas station convenience store (I recommend this). We reached after sunset and went straight to the lobby for check-in. Car was complementary valet and could be accessed 24/7 with a little heads up. Hands and shoes sanitized, filled out a Covid questionnaire, checked in easily, and then took a golf cart to our suite. //PROPERTY+STAFF// - Staff was very nice. Thanks to Juan, whom I bugged many times by dialing "0" and asking questions about the property itself and for inquiries about surrounding experiences. Staff was masked at all times, plenty of sanitizer everywhere. Property is very big! very green and very open, especially given Covid limited occupancy / traffic. Our suite had a lagoon view, very beautiful. You can get a beach view as well. Golf carts run regularly around the property and you can hop on / hop off wherever you need to go. Our suite was clean and included everything. //EXPERIENCE// - this is an amazing Fairmont property. You should not miss the sunrise that happens every day on the beach. Wake up early and be sure to catch it. The beach is pristine and cleaned every morning. The main pool near the beach is also fantastic. There are several free water activities you can take advantage of (paddle board, kayak, etc.) that are provided as part of the resort fee. Take time to do a boat tour in the lagoon; it's free and just needs to be scheduled around the time. Was a peaceful 30 minutes. You can do a nature trail walk as well towards the front of the property by the lobby. I wasn't able to take advantage of this much. Obviously, some things you could normally do were closed due to Covid, but still felt enough and enjoyable. You can also ride bikes that are scattered throughout the property to get around as well. //FOOD// - There was no breakfast buffet at El Puerto restaurant so we were treated to a la carte ordering. My family is vegetarian and I felt there were plenty of options. Upon request, the chef came out to discussion options. They had a killer veggie avocado toast along with plenty of fresh fruit, fresh juices, etc. There was a veggie breakfast burrito as well. For the couple times we had lunch, we ate at Brisas Bar/Grill near the beach+main pool. There were some great veggie tacos w/ zucchini, fresh guac, and more. We ate dinner every night at El Puerto and had some great Italian food. Same deal here, chef came out upon request to ask and discuss options. They had a great arrabiata pasta and bruschetta on delicious focaccia bread. The chocolate gellato was also good! Overall this was a solid stay. I look forward to returning. Overall it's probably a 4 star, but I gave it a three because getting to the beach was very inconvenient and that was the main reason we went to Mexico. The food was amazing and EVERY single staff member was so good at their job! They are awesome!!! Gerson, the valet, (? Spelling) was top notch!!! The best of the best! When booking all-inclusive, it isn't made clear that you'll pay approximately $1,500 in taxes, fees and gratuity for a 5 night stay. Factor that in to your oversell expense. So I'm going to be honest; I didn't love Fairmont Mayakoba...BUT I did go during COVID and was unlucky enough to also be there when hurricane Zeta passed through. So during normal times I'm guessing it's better? Our room was ok. We just got a basic room and it was ok, nothing to write home about but clean. The beach and pool were closed when we first arrived but luckily opened the second to last day before leaving so we were able to enjoy one nice beach day. I think because of COVID or the hurricane or both, at first only one restaurant was open. I guess what took me by surprise was the lack of variety. Every day the same options; and don't get me wrong the food was good but it was a very limited menu. The cocktails were good; that was probably my favorite part. Does that surprise you? I had my fair Share of Mezcalitas, and I was not mad about that. All in all would I come back here; maybe??? I would definitely be waiting until after corona for sure just in case. Also I just want to point out they were very safe; masks, sanitizer, hand washing etc; so in regards to that aspect you can feel very confident there. read more

I will forever let my wife book our vacations because this resort was magnificent! When they say all inclusive they really mean ALL inclusive. From arrival to departure I did not feel like I was a foreigner. I felt welcomed, like a vip guest everyday! Upon arrival they greeted us at the entrance by name. They took all of our luggage, led us to the front desk for check-in and were asking us if we needed anything. Like, I haven't checked in yet and you're ready to bring me drinks and food?!!! Amazing! The concierge led us to meet our ambassador who walked us to our casita. While walking he gave us the details of everything available to us, from the golf carts they would pick us up from any location on the resort and transport us wherever we wanted to go. He told us how the bicycles were ours to use whenever we felt like a bike ride. He showed us how to access all of amenities through the Fairmont app which was great for when I had that late night hunger or just a question for t he front desk. After he left us at our room, the bell service dropped our luggage off and explained that all we needed to do was request them on the app when we were ready to go and they'd be available to come get it with permission from us to enter our room while we were at breakfast. Our accommodations!!!! The suite was top notch! We had a fully stocked mini fridge with beer, water, soft drinks and bags of chips, coffee and tea for us to make on our own if needed as well. There were robes, slippers and even bug spray to help eliminate the mosquitoes from attacking us in the evenings. A huge walk in shower and soaking tub to relax in. Then there was a plethora of food options available. La Laguna, La Playita and Ki Beach Bar and Grill (restaurants on the beach), Hix, Cafe Maya, The Sweet Spot. If you're hungry, they have options. Trust me, everything we ate was delicious. Our favorite restaurant was La Playita, the octopus were extravagant. If you're looking to drink, don't sweat it, you can order a drink from anywhere on the resort! All of the waitstaff was pretty knowledgeable of the foods and drinks they offered and would make you anything. The pool area was beautiful. There were two bars located there and you could place food orders to be brought to you at your lounging seats. They also have a kid area so you don't have to worry about the children having a good time. You want a boat tour around the property? They have that. Nice dinner and wine on the boat if you want to be romantic? They have that. Speed boats, catamaran, jet skis. They have it all. I have not been to another resort here in Mexico and I'm already calling Mayakoba the best. It was an absolutely amazing experience and my wife and I are already planning to come back with other couples to try the Banyan Tree part of the resort. After 7 days you'd normally be ready to come off vacation but I was not. I really enjoyed our stay and had the best time ever. I can not wait to go back. read more

We loved this Fairmont. We've been to probably 8-9 Fairmonts and this is our #1. Beautiful, relaxing, never feels crowded, all inclusive option is incredible, and the staff was wonderful. I truly had no complaints about this property. The massage I received at the spa was incredible- the perfect pressure. I wish I would have hung out more at the spa and used their various pools and amenities! If you are very fair skinned and from a not sunny place (like the PNW for example) don't underestimate the sun! With sunscreen I burnt to a crisp after an hour. There are plenty of umbrellas and shaded areas, which was appreciated. We will definitely be back! read more

Best resort I've ever stayed at. Stayed in heritage place villa and was beyond comfortable. Housekeeping kept the villa spotless so I commend them! The employees is what made it so special. They go above and beyond to make your experience the best! Daniel helped my family out and he was funny, energetic, and helped us with everything. Every employee says hello and has a smile on their face. Mario Enrique stood out to me at la playita as my favorite server of the week. We came here for a long weekend. We aren't usually but resort patrons, but this place really takes care of all your needs. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Our unit was one of the ones that fronts onto the water flowing through the mangrove swamps. (Pictured). It is screened by a stand of mangroves. This is a sprawling complex, there are carts that take you around, although a walk across the grounds can certainly be pleasant. There are at least three pools and the lush flora covering the grounds doesn't let you forget you are in the tropics. The breakfast, the bars and dinner restaurants were all high quality in terms of food, service and atmosphere. They will also serve you food and drink in the beach. Brisas is a good spot for dinner. (Also if you like dark beers, try the Jabali bock, which has a nice malty profile.) You can easily arrange trips to see nearby Mayan ruins, go snorkeling or see dolphins. read more

Beautiful resort. So far the only drawback is the limited number of king size beds they have on the property. We could move to one, but it would be 2 days after we've already settled in. The property is massive. There is a number of pools close to the rooms, then you can take the golf carts or bike to the beach pool and beach. They have a limited number of bikes you can take and use throughout the resort for free. The other option is the free golf carts they drive around which picks up people every 10 minutes. You do receive a couple water bottles complementary every morning and night. Drinks & water are a little pricey at the restaurant and pool. Food is really good and the salsas are hot! The gym is decent size with 6 treadmills, 4-5 bikes, a few elipitcals, free weights, and more. You check in through the spa. read more

We just spent 8 nights at the Fairmont over Christmas. It is a lovely resort with very good covid protocols. Staff is wonderfully friendly. I really applaud Susanna and Hugo who are lovely servers. All of the staff is quite lovely and friendly. Right now service is a bit slow, maids service the rooms every other day. We used room service a bit because the restaurants really were booked even given the 60% capacity only in the resort. The beach was lovely as were the pools. There are plenty of seats even with space, though the pool at La Laguna does get quite full quickly. Pool/Beach side food and drink service is really good. Tacos at the beach are probably the best food, but again only a few types so you eat the same tacos alot.. The meals at La Laguna are buffet style with protocols.. very loud, probably our least favorite. the food overall is very good, but there is very litter variety, you end up eating alot of repeat meals.. Trip to shopping 5th Ave in Playa Del Carmen is 350 peosos one way. worth it to get out of the resort and shop a bit. All shops with very good protocols. The spa was lovely.. we had a couple massage and really enjoyed it, great protocols and amazing cookies!! The candy shop and arcade they recommend are just sad. Bikes could be more plentiful on the resort. Overall we really enjoyed relaxing but we wouldn't return. With so much competition and we have been to many other resorts, this just wasn't our favorite. read more

First of all this place is beautiful but waayyyy overpriced. A small turkey sandwich is $20. A small glass of whiskey on the rocks- $30. Also- we have a son who didn't want to go out for dinner so my husband and I went to one of the restaurants and wanted to order pizza to go for him. Ummm no can do- "they don't do that here"! We r paying how much a night to stay here and we can't order a to go item for my son??? They said "room service" but all these restaurants have different items and he wanted a pizza... which is not on room service menu. Stupid- I have never seen this in any resort I have been too. It's seriously ridiculous. And the food overall has been "meh" at best. I already love staying at Fairmonts, but this one is one of my favorite hotels that I have stayed at. We had just finished our tour of Chichen Itza, so we were very tired once we got to the hotel. As with a lot of the hotels in the area, you turn off the main road, and drive through the jungle to the hotel itself. After going through check-in at the main complex, we rode the golf cart down to our casita, which was by the beach. As far as the room itself, it was really nice, modern and relaxing. Since it was a special items trip for my wife and I, they nicely decorated our room with rose petals. Our casita had a nice deck on the back, overlooking the lagoon. Another great feature was that the beach area was only two minutes away. We spent most of our time at the beach, where we could sit under a palapa, order food and drinks, and stare out into the blue ocean. We also visited the huge main pool near the front of the hotel, and virtually had it to ourselves. To get around, you could wait for the golf carts, but I liked having the option to just get on some bicycles and ride around the huge resort. Our personal butler was also able to reserve a private boat ride throughout the grounds, which I highly recommend that you do. Usually at the end of vacations, there is a part of me that is ready to go back home. However, I wouldn't mind spending more time in the Riviera Maya at this Fairmont. Some tips: When you get to your room, you have the option of having the butler stock your fridge with things from the convenience store (same price as the store, so take advantage of this). We ate most of our meais at the resort, so we got their offer: $500 food/drink credit for $400. read more
