I spent Valentine's Day at Topanga nursery with one of my besties. We started the day with a "tai chi with fan" class in the garden with Joelle from Warrior Healing Arts. We stopped back through for a tea and honey tasting in the afternoon. I can't say enough good things about the staff at Topanga nursery. The grounds are surprising. You really have to see it because you can't judge it from the street. There are community classes and activities. Follow their IG and FB pages then go to their website to view a calendar. You can go to the Just Vibes grab a custom coffee and then walk the grounds and speak with the staff about what they offer there as far as trees and plants. They also have beehives and in their gift shop they have every variety of honey you can think of as well as lovely gift items from books to body care to jewelry to honey. It is a hidden treasure in the San Fernando Valley. It's a fun day out for families with kids and just by yourself. Go check them out! read more

I accidentally ended up at this nursery when looking for coffee and I'm so glad I did. I walked around the entire property and they have beautiful plants and lots of fruit trees! The prices seem very reasonable too. I talked to one of the workers and he was so sweet and answered all of my questions. They were also doing an event for children which is great! Clearly very community oriented which I love. I can't wait to come back to get plants for my yard. read more

I have really been wanting to start a garden and grow fresh herbs, fresh fruit, and fresh vegetables for all the cooking that I do. It's something I really enjoy and in the long run could maybe save me money. I decided to go to @topanganursery and walk around and get a feel for what they have. I thoroughly enjoyed just walking around. It's so beautiful..... like a secret garden. Now I feel very inspired and want to go back and get more. Today I started with an orange tree. But I also have my eye on this apple tree that produces five different types of apples. That will be my next purchase. I always say fresh is best! Can't wait to see my garden grow! Everyone who was working today was also very friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all my gardening questions! The only thing I wish they had was built wood planters to buy. I came into Topanga Nursery for the first time and was welcomed by their friendly staff the moment I walked in. What brought me to the nursery in the first place was I was in desperate need of guidance because my propogated Pothos kept dying on me the moment I transferred them over to soil. Matt, one of the employees, was so kind and patient with me. He gave me a step-by-step instruction on how to go about caring for my Pothos and answered all my questions. I had a really lovely conversation with him and felt no judgment whatsoever for being a new plant owner. I also left with some organic soil and a beautiful pot for my plant. "What's that buzzing sound?" is what you'll be asking, shortly after pulling up at tony Topanga Nursery. It's bees, they're everywhere, and if you ask nicely in the shop, you'll get to see their giant secret hive. The shop, incidentally, sells all things honey, as well as some fun bee, plant and gardening stuff. Outside, past the bees, are rows of perfect plants, shrubs and trees, ready for loading into your Range Rover and having your gardener plant them. Is there any other way? Staff is over-the-top smart about all things plants and were perfectly willing to share their knowledge with a plant dummy like me. The owner was super helpful and gave me a lot of information about propolis. She also let my kids see the beehive and educated them about the bees as well. Adorable nursery with attentive service! First time here and absolutely loved it! I called first to make sure they had lavender in stock. They advised me that had 3 different types in the 5 gallon size so I hopped in my car and drove to the nursery. There was small parking lot for about 8 cars and ample street parking. I parked in the street as the lot was full. The shop was set up well with indoor and outdoor areas. In addition to plants and flowers, I noticed pottery. There was a large amount of plants closely grouped together with little paths in between. It was fun to navigate through. Signs were posted with names and prices. Service was amazing and plentiful. Despite being somewhat busy, everyone who needed help was receiving it. Santiago assisted me with navigating the grounds, selecting my lavender and geranium, and carrying / loading them into my car. He was friendly, super helpful and knowledgeable. The cashier was wonderful too! Prices were slightly higher than the other nursery I frequent but the hours were better and service was more readily available. I will definitely be back. I loved the community vibe of this nursery. read more

STICK WITH THE HONEY! I like the space but prices are WAY TOO HIGH and quality is NOT up to par, most indoor plants have burnt edges and a lot of the plants were bone-dry... Pay close attention and you'll see some dead plants shoved in with the living ones. Was in the store long enough to see gnats flying in and out of the 4" pots of maranta, pothos and not to mention, 5gl milkweed outside was INFESTED with aphids, YIKES! Here, common indoor plants are almost double the price in contrast to other nurseries in the area. GF and I were looking for a pittosporum tenuifolium for our sunny balcony and then we found it. Walked over to the ceramic pot section and we heard what sounded like the owner berating an employee inside the plant store. We were taken aback, what kind of unprofessional individual would berate so loudly at their employee within earshot of unsuspected shoppers? That's just a bad look.. But what really made my stomach turn was the 180 the owner did to seek business from another patron just a few minutes later! Affable, jovial attitude and hearty laughs from the mouth that was just reprimanding so fervently.. Obsequious business owner, ABSOLUTELY! Topanga nursery is a wonderful restful place to go to for flowers, veggies, trees, houseplants, and their delicious "in-house" honey They have awesome classes on gardening with friendly teachers and their staff is so knowledgeable and kind. Late February we went down to the nursery to buy some pollinator friendly plants, where we also attended their "pollinator-friendly class". We were worried we couldn't really plant anything on our balcony because it is so small, but the staff again helped us with some apartment friendly plant options. As long as I am in the valley this will be the only place I go to for any nursery and honey needs. read more

My wife loves this place. I come along to look at their bee stuff. They have everything you'd need and at a great price. In addition you get real customer service. Got an issue with your tomatoes ask them, they will help you. Need new plants they have them. They also have bee keeping supplies. While this is not my wheelhouse I find it completely fascinating. I called from the Bay Area to try and locate a Bird of Paradise plant for my mom for Mother's Day, as she is local to this area. Danny assisted me over the phone and told me about the 3 options they had in stock and we were able to quickly narrow it down to the right plant for me. I was able to quickly and easily pay over the phone and he even offered to text me a photo of my receipt, along with some options for planters that might work well for the plant to complete the gift. He was also very flexible with the pick up date as I had to arrange for a local relative to transport the plant on my behalf, which was a huge relief. I really appreciated his assistance as I knew this was the gift I wanted to give mom, but being 6 hours away can pose a challenge. I know many nurseries have disappeared. So it's good to have options. I used to work at a nursery so I know what a good looking nursery is. I'm a professional gardener & plant nerd so I visit a LOT of garden centers. The front of this nursery looks good. From the street it looks nice. The place is bigger than you think. But if you venture off the "porch" you'll see zero prices. I hate having to ask what every little thing costs. The beds of plants were messy. There were big trees fallen down so I couldn't get through some aisles. The only reason I'm giving an extra star is because I bought 2 succulents and a cheap pair of gloves(that I had to ask the price). The one plant ID tag on a plant I bought said "Sticks On Fire". No Latin name at all. Organize, price and correctly tag everything and I might return. Sorry. read more

I was looking for 5 gallon daylilies, I needed 5 of them. The plants were not flowering yet. I asked the lady at the front desk how do you tell the color of the flower. She didn't know and there are no markings to distinguish the plant or color. She told me only one guy Santiago knew the colors. I go find this gentleman and ask him about the color. He said to me we have red, yellow, and lilac. He only knows the plants with red flowers and the rest he won't know tell they bloom. I said OK give me 5 with red flowers. I showed him the color red I was looking for as well. He said yes those are the color red we have. Guess what? One of the five plants were red or should I say maroon, the other 4 were yellow and already planted in my garden. Thanks for nothing!! Get some knowledgable people working there or don't let the employees bullshit the customer. read more

This nursery is a "hidden" gem of a great nursery. Located about 2 miles off the 118 FWY, on Topanga Blvd, you can easily pass the place (near a signal light) and have to make a "U" turn to either go into their small parking spaces or park along the Blvd. Great selection and most of all, excellent customer service! Nora and Paul were the best; especially Paul! We found a lot in common and got along like we've known each other for years. His friendly persuasion and friendly manners made my purchase worthwhile.
