Great place to hang out, good alternative to a bar. Just please cut the dog's nails! Nails are way too long.

I came to McCoy's Rum Room while traveling solo in Daytona beach for a weekend (and was staying at…read morethe Hilton). I REALLY enjoyed my experience here. I felt it was difficult (within walking distance from the Hilton) to find nicer bars where you could lounge, enjoy the ambiance, and also have a nicer selection of wine and spirits. So I'm glad I (literally) didn't have to walk anywhere to enjoy exactly that. This is what made my experience at McCoy's Rum Room great: - I love the decor. The plush couches. The finishes and thoughtful touches they added (like the lighting and curtains). The space comes together nicely, is airy and spacious, welcoming and posh. - I liked (not loved) the drink list. The wine selection for red was on point, bubbly was a little low class, but the cocktail list seemed fun and I enjoyed a Raspberry Collins - Which the bartender was happy to accommodate my additional asks (less sugar, extra lime) and in general, he was SO friendly, attentive and nice. - They have a short but GOOD bar food menu that included bigger items (like burgers) and a nice selection of light bites (I had the hummus plate, which was really nice, and also quite inexpensive ($8) and LARGE). Good thing I was drunk and hungry. I really enjoyed this bar. I recommend it and when I come back to Daytona and stay at the Hilton, I'll definitely be back! For some reason I ordered a painkiller that was not exceptional followed by a shot of bourbon whiskey that tasted like garbage and definitely watered down. But the band was cool playing 80s and 90s rock and RB hits. They even played Fine young cannibals. yeah remember them. u member LOL.

We were…read moreseated promptly, and got to chill and drink during the short wait for the rest of our party to arrive. Ambiance is always so chill in there. Mood lighting, great artwork on the walls, and poppin' music. During our stay, the music might have actually been a little too poppin'. We had to really approach shouting to be able to have a conversation with each other. Service was good. We had a very nice server who took good care of us. They were out of a few food and drink items, but that might have been our bad. Our visit Was only two days after Mardi Gras. So, no points deducted, just be wary of maybe holding off coming here until they can replenish from Mardi Gras. As for the food, I started off with the Cajun Dip (spinach, cheddar, monterey Jack, brie, mozzarella, garlic bread, tri-color chips). Nice little dip. A good mixture of spinach earthiness and cheese, not too salty. Chips were good and crunchy, could have had more of that awesome bread. But overall a very nice app. As for my entree, I think I had a nice jambalaya. I can't find it on the menu right this moment, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was. It was really nice. Well-cooked rice, well-seasoned, and a good amount of shrimp hidden inside that tight mold. Very good presentation. Very nice dish. Overall, it was a good time with people people and good food! This place is right by my work, I've already been a few times, and I reckon I'll keep on coming back.

We waited about 15 minutes for a table of 2 and it looked like there weren't a lot of people working. The waitress was nice but unfortunately the day we went they were out of a lot of things like crab cakes, oysters, chicken wings, etc. I decided to get a shrimp po boy and added a side or hush puppies and my friend for a cup of jumbo and a jerk chicken sandwich. I enjoyed my sandwich but the hush puppies were a little dry in my opinion. My friend didn't really like his sandwich as the jerk chicken moisture made his sandwich fall apart as soon as he picked it up, and the jerk seasoning was a little sweet. Overall I think this place has potential but I was a little disappointed that I couldn't try the appetizers since they weren't available. I'd maybe try it again but it was also about 40 minutes away so indecisive.
