I had been going to this office for years, switching between Dr. Solomon and Ameet Perez because their horrible scheduling makes it impossible to stay with one of them. Neither of them were particularly friendly to me--always condescending and rude. Unfortunately this was the only dermatology office that took my insurance so I put up with them, even after Dr. Solomon looked me up and down, mumbled something under his breath, and laughed after I said that I was abstinent. What a jerk. Probably the most concerning experience, however: About two years ago I went in for a spot on my forehead. Dr. Solomon wouldn't even examine me up close. I made abother appointment with Ameet and she, too, told me I was a paranoid patient and that it was nothing (but again, wouldn't examine me). Today, I received a phone call from my new dermatologist that the spot is advanced melanoma. I'm scheduled for emergency surgery this week. While I'm glad to finally have a dermatologist who listened to my concerns, I regret wasting time with such incompetent jerks for too many years. read more

I went a few months ago because I had this so called pimple between my eyebrows. Dr. Solomon came in standing by the counter, not even coming over to check it out. He tells me its a cyst and take these antibiotics for 3 weeks. I thought that was a long time to take antibiotics. I felt he made a diagnosis from a far. Didn't come over and check. The so called cyst went away on its own. Than stupid me went back because I been getting these white pimples on the side of my nose with some redness. I also took some pictures to show him how bad its at times. He came in went over to the counter a distance away from me, and I told him about my issue. I also had a mask on. I ask him if he wanted to see the pictures he said not necessary. And guess what he said I had CYSTS. I told him I was worried because I thought the only way you can get rid of cysts they had to be removed. He said they are not that type of Cysts. Again he said take these antibiotics and this cream. I tried the antibiotics and cream he gave me. Nothing worked. I decided to go to Stony Brook Dermatology. What a difference when this Doctor came in to see me. The Doctor came over with a magnifying glass. look at all my pictures and took a biopsy and found out I have a bacteria infection on around the nose area. They than recommend to go see a infectious disease doctor, so I went and they also was so helpful. The infectious disease doctor is trying to figure out medication to help me. So far I feel better. I know I am going on and on. What I am saying you have to be your own advocate. I do not recommend Greenberg Dermatology Dr. Barry Solomon. read more

-1 Star .. Stay away. After a $20.00 co-pay, 6 pages of paperwork, a 20 min. wait in the waiting area, and a picture of my face to prove I was there. Dr. Solomon came into the exam room asked me why I was there (Skin exam appointment) then he wanted to know if insurance required co-pay and stated that he had to check, and I needed to reschedule for a simple skin exam. (They had my policy information when I made the appointment) He and his assistant chuckled like it was a joke when I asked why he wasted my time, when a simple phone call could have been made to find this information when I made the appointment. He also stated that any dermatologist would have done the same. He tried to bill my insurance company $181.00 for an office visit, and got a $20.00 cash co-pay from me, and sent me on my way. Not a bad 3 minutes for him. I called my insurance company the next day to complain. The Dr.'s office, insurance company, and myself conference called. The insurance company asked them why they went this route, when they already had the policy information? They said they didn't realize, (despite having the policy information already) It's a money grab folks. Get the patient into the office as many times as you can, to keep the money coming in. I met with Dr. Solomon on a couple different occasions. He was, by far, the most unpleasant Dr I've ever personally dealt with. He was cocky when I asked him questions and just being in front of him was intimidating. He made me never want to go back to see him. read more

I had an appointment about 2 weeks ago for a rash on my upper body. Dr Solomon not only did not pay any mind to what I was trying to explain to him on my visit, he cut me off, but also did not tell me that I could not be in the sun with the cream he prescribed AND when I called to reschedule because the rash was worse, he said to continue using the same cream that was not working. Now my rash is much bigger and I decided to visit another, more attentive dermatologist. What he told me I had was not even what I had. The worst feeling is to go to a doctor who doesn't listen, it's frightening to think you could one day be dealing with something serious and it could be completely looked over. If it was possible to give zero stars, I would. Dr. Solomon is the most unpleasant "professional" that I've ever spoken with. Barely looked at me, gave condescending answers to my questions, and made me feel like I was taking up too much of the less than two minutes he actually spent with me. I have never met a more rude, condescending doctor in my life. Solomon barely looked at me and laughed at me when he left the room, saying "Good luck." LAUGHED. He also told the nurse (who was really sweet and even seemed embarrassed by his rudeness, though she's probably used to his awful disposition) to take a photo of my hand. He said this to her several times, without even asking me for my consent. Sorry, no you may not have a photo of my hand which you are also refusing to even treat. Luckily the nurse was kind enough that she didn't make an attempt to take a photo and she explained things a lot more better and friendlier than he could. Horrible horrible horrible! I came in to treat my acne and he has diagnosed it as "rosacea" and prescribed me medicine that treated rosacea which resulted in me getting an allergic reaction. The two times I went he was rude, did not want to hear my concerns, made me feel stupid for my theories for my acne, and clearly did not care what I had to say. I left his office in tears because he had no proper manners of how to talk to a human being whatsoever. And diagnosing my skin as rosacea? I had very little acne and he claimed his medicine would work and I couldn't go on any other medicine because I was too poor for others??? News flash Solomon, I've been treating my acne without any fancy medication and just natural remedies and a strict skin care routine and my skin is flawless now. I do not recommend this place whatsoever, it is not worth your time and money. read more

Should be Zero stars! I went in with what I thought may have been an allergic reaction, and he diagnosed an infection and put me on antibiotics (30 day supply) an antibiotic cream and steroid ointment. The next day, my face is swollen, but I wait to see if it just got worse before getting better. Well, the 2nd day was even worse. I look like the elephant man. I call the office and have to leave a message for a nurse. When she calls back, she tells me that they will change the steroid ointment. I tell her that it had started swelling bad even before I used it. She put me on hold, and I had to hang up because it was taking so long. She called back to tell me that they will change the antibiotics. I asked what they would put me on and she put me on hold again. When she came back I could not understand what she was saying, so I asked her to spell it, and she couldn't. I asked how many times a day, and she said once a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Then I asked, so it's twice a day, and she said, no once a day in the morning and evening. I asked if I should be seen again, and she said no, it would get worse before it gets better. I told her nevermind, I would need to be seen elsewhere. read more

Moved out of state had one refill left and when tried to get it filled, it needed auth. So I called and Jill called me back. Bottom line. My refill was still good. Jill screamed at me over the phone, had the refill taken away. I was told go find a different dermatologist, Dr Solomon is not my Dr any more and he won't be authorizing anything. I didn't understand. I wasn't asking for him to write a script, there was a refill already on there. Was she or Dr Solomon pissed because they needed to SUBMIT PAPERWORK ON A PATIENT THAT JUST SAW DR SOLOMON IN AUGUST, A PATIENT OF OVER 10 YEARS. I just kept asking her why was she screaming at me. I asked who her supervisor was, Dr. Solomon. I was a patient of his for over ten years and never once had a problem till I wasn't a patient. And Jill needs to be FIRED! I have never been treated so unprofessionally by a "professional" in my life. I came in for a second follow-up appointment because I was worried about my skin condition and the side effects of a prescribed medication and I was met with an attitude and treatment that was entirely uncalled for. I don't know if it was because I'm young (21), but I certainly wasn't prepared for the lecture I received from Dr. Solomon. It was rude and kind of shocking. I had more than one terrible experience with Dr. Solomon so I thought it was time to share my latest experience so that nobody else has to suffer like I did. First of all, trying to make an appointment is always ridiculous (most of the receptionists that I've dealt with have been horrible and seem to have no idea how to even make a simple appointment). Next, when I finally went in for my latest appointment, I had to wait for a long time while listening to the receptionists babble to each other about what they did the night before (very inappropriate by the way). When I went into the examining room, I waited for the doctor and when Dr. Solomon finally came in, he did not even come over to examine me. He sat down, asked me what was wrong, I told him, and then he "diagnosed" me from afar. He never got within 4 feet of me. He prescribed an ointment for me and then left the room. On my way out, I heard another inappropriate conversation coming from behind the front desk and also heard and saw a woman yelling at someone in front of everyone. Great managerial skills, really. Then, last week, I had a billing inquiry and called to speak with someone in billing and was told that the entire department was on vacation...how could anyone let an entire department go on vacation at one?!?!?!?!? STUPID! I will never return to this office after all of the inappropriate behavior that I've witnessed and how horrible the doctor's bedside manner is. DO NOT GO TO HIM, every if you are desperate!!! I too had a very bad experience there as well. I have never been so offended and treated so poorly in a doctors office in my life. I will never go back to that rude, unprofessional, and obnoxious practice again. And to top it off they prescribed medication that my insurance did not cover. i called them several times and it took them 3 weeks to remedy the situation. Hands down the worst patient service ever.
