Dr. Tom is a fabulous dermatologist! He is very professional and detail oriented. He has caught precancerous spots on my husband and also skin cancer on me. The office is clean. The staff is nice. What a scheduling nightmare. I tried to book the appointment via website- every time slot available would suddenly become unavailable in the 30 seconds to press the button. I tried via robo phone call and they booked me for a location upstate NY when I'm in eastern long island. I called and got a real live person, set the appointment in smithtown and their call center cancels the appointment on me for reasons unknown and didn't even notify me. read more

I've been a patient at this group for many years. I've never had a complaint until now, that the practice has been sold to Schweiger. I had a biopsy done 11 days ago and was told that I would have the results in about a week. When I called this morning I left a message because there wasn't anyone available to speak with me. I then received an email telling me that I would be contacted shortly. Never happened. Several hours later, I called again and again, left a message. Someone from the office did call me back to verify my identification and told me that my doctor would get back to me shortly with the biopsy results. Never happened. I like Dr. Nally and think highly of her but I'm certainly unhappy with the actual practice. read more

MEDICAL FRAUD- do not book an annual skin exam here. I am being charged for treatments and medications that I did not receive. I booked an annual skin exam which would be covered under my insurance as a preventative visit. This was discussed at the time I made my appointment, but apparently they will not bill it as such, they only bill as a doctor visit so insurance wont pick it up. They should have said this when I was making the appointment. Also I had a small scab that was scratched off by the doctors finger, and was billed as " Surgery" stating lidocaine was administered when it was not. This is medical fraud. I have called three times already to speak with someone about these inaccurate charges and no one has bothered to call me back, it has been 5 months and 3 phone calls and no one can return a phone call. read more

Had Mohs surgery by Dr W Lou. The whole office worked like a well oiled machine. I've had 5 Mohs procedures in the past, this team was tied for first place. 10 days post procedure and the scar is barely visible. read more

The surgeon, Dr Lou ,who did my MOHS surgery was excellent. That is where my satisfaction with this group ends. After my surgery I was told to wait in the waiting room which was packed full of people. There was no attempt at social distancing, and there was not a single chair left for me to sit . I walked into the hallway to see if the bench I had sat on before my procedure was still available but all the benches were filled as well. As a healthcare professional I cannot imagine not offering a patient a place to sit after a procedure. I ended up sitting in my car for an hour waiting. The plastic surgeon did not introduce himself to me, nor did he reply when I asked what his name was. The assistant in the room had to introduce him and he never spoke another word to me. Totally ignored me when I addressed him. I did not see him wash his hands before he put his gloves on to suture my wound. I did not see him wash his hands after he took those gloves off. He just took them off threw them into the trash opened the door and walked out. I am displeased on many levels. I believe each and every patient should be treated with dignity and respect. They should be treated this way every single time they interacted with. Each and everyone of your patients should walk out and feel that their expectations have been exceeded. I am disappointed with the practice as a whole as they are not concerned with the patient's comfort after a procedure. I am particularly disappointed by Dr. Bourhill. He left me feeling like I was nothing but a skin cancer laying on the table that needed suturing up. I was not a person to him, I was a gaping wound that needed to be sewn up. In an extremely vulnerable moment of my life I was treated with a complete lack of respect and dignity. This practice has not met my expectations as a patient, never mind exceeding them. What they have done for me is make me acutely aware of how important it is to treat everyone I meet as a healthcare provider with dignity and respect. Dr. Bourhill helped me remember that just saying hello to someone and telling them your name and making them feel as though they are important is just as important as the procedure itself. This practice as a whole has failed to meet my expectations and I do not recommend them to anyone read more

I have been getting facial fillers for about 10 years now, and over the years I have gone to several different injectors. I wasn't happy with the last place I went to. After seeing her work on Instagram, I made an appointment with Tara Koch at Schweiger Dermatology Group in Smithtown. She disolved the existing fillers and started from scratch. I cannot stress enough how great her work is. She did an amazing job on my face and I look amazing! Tara is up to date with all the latest procedures available. The entire staff is a pleasure to deal with. There are a lot of injectors out there, but Tara is truly the best. read more

Dr Fastenberg is wonderful! Dr Joe is not a dr. He prescribed me rx that included the one medication that I am allergic to. It is clearly marked in my chart and I also reminded him. His response was to call me and tell me- it wasn't a "big deal" and that he would reimburse me the $5 copay from is own wallet. I'm sure he preferred to reimburse me instead of dealing with the lawsuit. No, my children didn't lose their mom due to an allergic reaction resulting in death BUT it is a big deal to prescribe me a medication that you are fully aware the patient is allergic to!!!! I of course read the leaflet before using the medication which is how I found out it was NOT ok for me to use. read more

I called for urgent appointment with Dr. Koss and receptionist did not find any possibility for me to see this doctor earlier than in 2 months from now. So I'm giving this office one star for unprofessionalism - I'm a new patient, I was supposed to have my first appointment with Dr. Koss today at 3:30pm. I got there on time and waited patiently. A room full of patients! That's when they called me up to tell me (after I had paid the copay) that she had left for the rest of the day. At this point it was already towards 4:15pm. So not only did they not call all her patients to tell them not to come in, but they said my copay would be put towards our next visit. What if I didn't want to come back after that catastrophe? Honestly, I'm just worried that my next appointment will be cancelled without my knowledge and I'll have to sit in an hour of traffic again! I'm very dissatisfied as I have never seen a dermatologist before and this leaves an awful taste in my mouth about them. Now I will wait ANOTHER week to see her because the next Tuesday was the ONLY open appointment she had. First impression...don't go here. read more

I had received some routine cosmetic procedures (xanthelasma removal) at a Schweiger and was paying out of pocket at the end of each visit. Received a sneaky bill after being told there were no more charges. I was not going through insurance. They sent a bill for hundreds of dollars for a procedure that I paid out of pocket for at a quarter of the cost two weeks earlier. While disputing it they drummed up another charge for a procedure I didn't even receive. It's been non stop with their billing department. I wish I had gone literally anywhere else. I was greatful this place was able to fit me in first thing after the holidays. Being a new patient and all. The staff at the front desk and the medical assistant were all courteous, informative and respectful of privacy. I was seen by Mrs. Koch to discuss some concerns about small cysts in my earlobes and receive treetment. She explained the options, and I was able to get my questions answered. I have a $50 co-pay for specialists, shweiger asks for a $125 deposit which I never heard of. However I can understand if people dont realize they owe a certain % after the $xx.xx. insurance companies pay. And dont pay the doctors. With a follow up in two weeks and a full body skin cancer screening we shall see if the excellent service continues as expected or how the billing department works. I will start off by saying that Valerie is an amazing PA who was compassionate and wanted to see me get better. I have been experiencing very painful psoriasis or eczema on my hands and went to get a biopsy. Over the course of a few days my hands, arms and body went through a horrible flare up. It got to the point where I couldn't open my hands because they were so inflamed, it looked like they were on fire. I went back to the office to see a different PA and was so taken aback by the lack of care presented by her. I was in excruciating pain, not knowing what was wrong with me. I wanted to see if it was possible to get a cortisone injection to control my flare up, get assessed on what it could be and all I was told was to put Vaseline on and steroid cream with a glove. After expressing my pain and showing the PA and the nurse/assistant, all I got were condescending comments on how painful it looks. I was prescribed steroid cream after repeatedly saying I don't want to be on it because it destroyed my skin. I did not feel listened or heard, I felt humiliated and looked down upon for my condition. I ended up going to the hospital to relieve some of the excruciating pain I was in. Horrible experience. VERY disappointed with my visit to Schweiger Dermatology. I was excited based on the reviews to hopefully find a new dermatologist that I could go to. In making the appointment I confirmed that the office accepted my insurance and that I would be 100% covered. I then confirmed AGAIN at the office when checked in, and again before leaving as I had just switched insurance companies and didn't want any surprise bills coming my way. Every single time I was told that I am 100% covered and that I would owe nothing. Cut to a month later, I receive an invoice for HUNDREDS of dollars for the five minute consultation I had with the doctor. I have been calling the Billing department for WEEKS trying to get this fixed, and have been continuously blown off. I was told the first time that they would send this in for a second review and that I would hear back from the office 7-10 days later... 17 days later, NOTHING. So again, I had to call and explain the situation to the Billing department. This time, I was told that my case would be sent to management for review and that I would hear back 48 hours later. That was a WEEK ago and still I have heard nothing from the office. Going to Schweiger Dermatology has caused my nothing but absolute frustration, and I've done nothing but waste SO much of my time trying to just get this fixed ever since I got the invoice. I wish I literally went anywhere else. My advice- I know the reviews look great but do yourself a favor and save your money and the headache and choose a different dermatology group. read more

Dr. K - too much in a rush..this is your diagnosis....here's your medicine...bye.. I had to go back and talk to a wonderful medical assistant - Gabriela (I give her 5 stars!) She walked me through - step by step of my prescriptions. I also went to Dr. K for a body exam...that was less rushed...very thorough..you have to wear a gown. Quick, done before you know it...I'm all normal! Yeay! I had to go back for follow ups. I saw Dr. P. - all nice the first time...took time..lets try this new stuff. 2nd time - Dr. P all rushed...I told Dr. P that I was allergic to the new medicine. Dr. P said, "I bet my house on it that you are not allergic". (Well, then why did I get better when I stopped?) You must have an inner ear problem...and launched into ...well, this is the treatment go to a different doctor.... Didn't believe me, dismissed my comments. Staff: I saw 2 workers outside having a cigarette break, venting and screaming to each other. "I'm too old for this shit!" Young girl behind the reception desk - cranky, pouting, sighing..but the golden statue/5 stars goes to...the older woman - 50's? - dirty blond hair, glasses. Talks to you, empathizes with you, very patient. (I overheard her say to a co-worker, "I never get angry") The call center: (you can never call the local location directly). Press 1, press 2, etc. You can barely hear them, speak broken English. Even the local office hates the call service. Bottom line: I found out I was allergic to the treatments, and my condition hasn't changed. read more

Please be aware of this practice. I would have given a zero stars but wasn't allowed. I am extremely disappointed and devastated from what they did to my eye. I went there almost two weeks ago with a friend to try a Botox treatment for the first time. I explained I was scared because I heard of people getting a droopy eye from it . A woman PA explained that it rarely happens but if it did it was an easy fix. She then proceeded to do mine first. She was chatting away while injecting me about her wedding and a DJ that she wanted that happened to be my friends neighbor. She then said I was finished so I got up and then she said wait a minute I think this is your syringe too. She had all of the syringes together for both of our treatments. She then proceeded injecting me some more. About three days later my eye started closing. I spoke with the PA and I went in for her to check me. At this time, her supervisor came in and they explained that the eye muscle was hit with the Botox and I was experiencing Ptosis. I explained that The PA said it was an easy fix and she said no I didn't say that. A complete lie! I was so afraid of this and made sure I asked that question. My friend heard the entire response. They then said it doesn't look so bad and gave me drops for it. As the days went on my eye completely shut. I saw two ophthalmologists and spoke with others and the census was she she injected in the wrong spot and over injected putting too much Botox as well. This occurs when the injector is inexperienced and they should not be performing any cosmetic work. The worst part of this horrific experience is I had an appointment to see her this past Friday. A non medical personnel came out to me in the lobby and handed me a refund and said we are all squared away. This was so unprofessional and rude. They didn't even want to see my eye or help me in any way. I asked what at about the eye drops? She said oh we will call and put refills on the prescription. Please take my advice stay away from a place that treats people like this when they were the ones who made the error. I did exactly what she instructed me to do for over four hours after the injections . The error definitely was not on my part. How do you treat a person that way who can't see out of her eye because of their negligence? I am devastated and now left on my own to find a solution and pay money for their mistake. read more

I read the reviews about this dermatology office and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Koss based on the favorable YELP reviews.The staff is first class and office is beautiful. She was professional so I agreed to let this doctor do a biopsy on my back: Negative results. I should have forgotten about the favorable reviews here and insisted on viewing the problem she claimed to spot. She prescribed several medications for small issues and they proved to be completely useless. One medication she prescribed and I filled had a sticker-shock price of over $1,000 for three (3) small one-time use tubes of a new RX on the market. There may be an incentive given to doctors that recommend $$$$ medication. Thankfully I didn't have to pay the exorbitant amount. The health insurance company had to eat the cost. I gave my carrier to be certain there wasn't an error after reading the explanation of benefits. There was also a now resolved billing issue because they failed to bill the insurance correctly. I realize other people had a very positive experience with this doctor and wish I could report the same. read more

Recently returned to this office for a follow up visit with Dr Hahn....yet again another horrible experience! Dr Hahn was over an hour late arriving and several Good Samaritan people in the hallway had to literally carry him into the office and then he still was going to see patients when he couldn't even walk or talk! It seems beyond belief, but it's 100% true ! I was blessed with the fact that they let me see an excellent PA instead, but I feel sorry for the poor patients who had to see Dr Hahn :/ Someone please explain why in 2019 this atrocity can still go ignored ???!!??? This place is wildly unorganized and unprofessional. I decided to have a consultation with the cosmetic office (downstairs) for some laser hair removal. Unfortunately this was the experience that really put a bad taste in my mouth and is causing me to leave the practice overall. During my consultation I asked about pricing for the services I was interested in. I then noticed a clear discrepancy in their printed pricing list. I was quoted at a price that felt far too low, and because I am an honest person, I pointed out that there may be a mistake. After pointing it out, both the esthetician, Nina, and the receptionist agreed that there seemed to be a mistake. They said would need to speak with management to clear it up the confusion. They told me they'd give me a call back when they knew exactly how much my services would cost. After a few days, I did receive a call back in which they told me they were going to honor the first quote I got. They thanked me for pointing out the error and told me they they have since updated their pricing list but would honor it for me since they quoted me at that to begin with. I said great, scheduled an appointment for my first session, and went in. Well, when I went in for that first session, they acted like I was insane and told me there was no way they would honor that price. The esthetician was extremely rude, unprofessional, and treated me like a complete idiot. I felt so uncomfortable and belittled. I tried to explain to her that the receptionist had called me back and promised to honor the original quote, and she only talked over me and refused to hear me out. I asked them to check the notes on my account to see if there was a record of our phone conversation, which there was. Even with this, they said there was some confusion, sent me home, and said they would call me back to fix it (...again!). However, the practice did absolutely nothing to rectify this colossal, frustrating waste of time. They called me back and offered a nothing more than a simple "sorry". I feel awful writing a negative review, but this place had multiple opportunities to right their wrongs and chose not to each time. I am so unsatisfied with the time I wasted, the way I was treated, and the constant miscommunication that I cannot recommend anyone visit this practice for any laser hair removal. Extremely satisfied with the care and service. We as a family see Dr. Koss. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient and attentive. Whenever we've needed a short notice appointment we've been able to schedule another doctor or a physician's assistant all of whom are very competent. I brought my elderly mother in for MOHS surgery on the right side of her face. Dr. Lou performed the procedure and all went well. What really impressed me was the entire staff's concern and caring. The day after the surgery Mom's face swelled up and I got a little worried so I called the office on a Friday night and Dr Lou called me back within an hour. For the whole weekend we spoke via phone and also text and she made sure all was well. It was very refreshing to have a doctor take time on the weekend to make sure everything was ok. Even while at the office everybody was great, Dr. Lou's assistant Stacey took the time to help Mom with everything that she needed and really went the extra mile. Really a great experience all around, I highly recommend them. read more
