Looking for a dermatologist for my twin teenagers. I was willing to ignore the bad reviews and make an appointment. Then I began to read the responses by Angelika S. Business Manager. Her replies to reviews are arrogant, sarcastic and condescending. In her mind, the patient is never EVER right. These are comments she KNOWS the patient and public will read. I can't imagine how she treats people when no one is watching. I have to assume that as she is the public face of the practice, the rest is run pretty much the same. I suspect she must be related to one of the doctors or they just don't care about customer service or their patients based on the evidence. Do yourself a favor...read the replies to honest reviews and ask yourself if that's how you want to be treated. I didn't think so. read more

After having a bad case of a breakout, I checked Yelp! for different dermatology offices and stumbled upon Greenbriar Dermatology. I first saw Dr. Bowden at the end of March and just had a follow-up visit in June. The first thing I really enjoyed was the staff: everyone from the receptionist to the nurses to the doctor himself. Everyone was really personable and willing to help and that has so far remained constant in both of my visits there. Dr. Bowden is extremely nice and helpful and very knowledgeable about what he does. He's also quick but in a way that doesn't make you feel rushed and confused. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather not have a doctor that mystifies me with medical gibberish. I don't want to leave the office having to WebMD things when I get home. I'd much rather have a doctor that tells it like it is, explains it so I have a good understanding of things, and is straight to the point. I do suggest scheduling the earliest appointments possible. They are EXTREMELY quick for the early morning appointments. I usually try to snag their 8:15 appointments and I'm usually done by 8:45AM. As another reviewer said, when I leave the office, there's usually 3 or 4 other people in the waiting room. I'll most definitely be a patient for awhile. read more

Especially since my face had been channeling its inner freshman for months now... That said, J-Mo worked in medical staffing at the time and had nothing but nice things to say about Dr. Bowden and his staff. So, off I went. Well, okay, no I didn't. It took a long time to get in. But when I went, it was fabulous. From the front desk to the consultation, everyone was very friendly, including Dr. Bowden. He reminded me of my best friend's dad growing up--not the creepy one--the one that you wanted to adopt you, because they were the epitome of awesome. They'd listen to you and give you sound advice. (Wow. Just realizing that maybe no one else talked to their friends' dads... I'll bring that up with my therapist. I swear I'm not a weirdo.) So, after a couple of months of waiting, we sat down and I gave him my acne-ridden sob story--cue the violin--and he helped me find a legitimate solution. He even told me about his past acne problems and how he overcame them, which I appreciate, because I feel like he gets where I'm coming from. His staff is very friendly, always on time--even when I'm not--and much more welcoming than the Ice Queen over at M.D. If you're looking for a new derm, Greenbriar is a good one to check out. read more

I used to really like this Dermatologist and even recommended him to my friends, however that's over. I went to him last time, because I hit my toe with a door and months later my nail started turning white. I went to him to find out if it could possibly be a fungus (since I also run) but the two minutes he was in the room with me, he glanced at it and said it will heal on its own. I want to say it has been a year now and it never healed. I had to go to another Dermatologist to get my toe treated and find out what was wrong with my nail. I'm no longer a fan, never going back. This could have been resolved on my visit if he would have actually cared to check more closely. read more

I called to book an appointment and got the same rude receptionist. It's like they don't want new patients? Since I didn't care that the next available appointment was 1.5 months away, I explained what I was coming in for and made the appointment. I feel like that would have been a good time for them to say, we actually don't do any laser work, but I'd be happy to refer you to another dermatologist who does. So I showed up and the doctor said, sure I can recommend someone who can do that. He also had a big poster for juvederm but when I asked him about it (just out of curiosity) he said he doesn't do that. The whole appointment lasted 5 minutes and it felt like the Dr. was trying to leave the room as quickly as possible. I wanted to get the most out of my visit so I was asking some questions about anti-aging meds or procedures (see above). Every time he finished a thought he stood up to leave. How to I prevent wrinkles: Botox. *Stands up* And what about non-injection methods: None *Stands up*. You get the idea... They gave me a sample of something to try and as of a week later no one has called me to see if it's working and if I want them to prescribe it. Maybe this guy is good at mole removal but do not go to him for any cosmetic questions or procedures. read more

Dr. Rashid is excellent. He's extremely knowledgeable and is really easy to talk to. He discusses different options and the pros and cons of each and makes sure that any questions I have are answered before leaving. The staff at the front desk are very friendly, polite, and helpful. My favorite aspect of this clinic is that they offer Saturday appointments. It's also convenient that you can make appointments online and see what dates and times they have available. I've never waited for longer than 5 minutes for my appointment, including time spent in the exam room. I've never even had to wait in the waiting room before, granted that I've always had an appointment. If you're looking for a great doctor, friendly staff, shockingly reasonable prices, and convenient appointments then this is the place. read more

Thanks again to Yelp for helping me find this Dermatologist!! It was my first time visit today and Dr. Bowden was great! Super friendly, very professional, knowledgeable and personable. Yes, I may have had to book my appointment almost 2 months in advance but I can see why. I went in for a routine visit, he took the time to answer all my questions, he even performed a quick spot removal and I was still in and out of his office in less than 30 mins!! Also kudos to his friendly and efficient staff. As far as the location, very convenient since off 59 (park inside the visitor garage on Norfolk, next to the multistory building.) Used to love Dr. Bowden. He now practices out of Santa Fe, NM. These 2 new Dr's are money hungry morons. They told me I needed to have surgery ASAP but, they wanted $425 up front and wait for a refund. Never in my life had I have a doctor do this to me when I am carrying the best insurance their is. Not only that, I have met my maximum out of pocket for the year. Nothing should be owed period. Not even a co-pay. The Dr. Rasheed asked me at least 3 times if I had met my deductible for the year. Tried to explain to him 3 times that I don't have a deductible but, a co-pay of 20% up to $1500 per year, which I had met back in January. Don't trust your health to these money hungry idiots. Plus, they made me pay a $5 charge to get my records for my new Dermatologist. SHAME SHAME SHAME read more

There is a reason this clinic has so much availability for same day appointments. I had an appointment with Dr. rashid, but never made it actually see him because of the receptionist and her lack of interest in her job. Not only was the receptionist beyond rude and unhelpful when I arrived for my appointment, but she basically tried her best to get me to leave by saying "sorry we can reschedule"" before in knowing if there may be a solution. I booked my appointment via Zocdoc, where you can upload copies of your insurance cards and all your info, so when you make appts through them you don't need to go through the added hassle of bringing said cards with. Once I arrived to my appointment I was told I could not get in to see the doctor without a physical copy of my insurance card, I had an electronic version I could email and or fax and I informed her that I booked through Zocdoc, so they have all my info. She "checked" and all I got from her was no sorry I don't see it and we don't take email or faxes. Nothing to help the situation or provide any resolution. Needless to say I left once I realized she didn't care one way or the ther of the doctor lost a patient. Horrible customer service. read more

I don't think I've ever had a doctors appointment of any kind be that fluid and efficient. I came in for my first ever dermatologist appointment and they were really great about explaining everything to me and making me feel comfortable. They did a full body mole check and answered a bunch of questions I had with clear, simple responses. He even removed a mole that I just thought was ugly. The whole appointment lasted 30 minutes and I don't think I was kept waiting for more than 2 minutes at a time, I never even took my phone out to gram or fbook. I hope I don't have many dermatological issues but if I do, I'll definitely be going back here. read more

Dr. Bowden has been very helpful with my acne and treatment. I took Accutane before with another dermatologist. Supposedly 20% of people would have acne again and I was the unlucky one. I went to Dr. Bowden based on the good reviews and it was a great choice. He is very knowledgeable of my situation and he seems to have all the solutions for the problems that come with Accutane. Last time I took Accutane I had severe rash (like the scratching to bleeding kind) and awful lip peeling. He prescribed me with some cream that helped with the rash whenever it comes out and also recommended a lip balm that solves most of the lip issues (you are still not going to feel completely comfortable with your lips but at least they are not peeling a thick layer of skin everyday). I have a few bumps that won't go away and Dr. Bowden gave me some injections that also helped with those. Basically all the issues that I complained to my last doctor and he only told me to moisturize, Dr. Bowden somehow gives me a solution. Also he told me to prevent from going through another round he wants me to stick to a higher dosage so that hopefully my acnes won't come back again. And this my previous doctor didn't tell me either. I was suffering from all the side effects that that doctor couldn't help me with so that I went for a low dosage for a longer period of time. He didn't tell me this was not a good way. Anyway I am glad I am being treated in a better way. For only two months of treatment my acne has gotten so much better and I hope this time it will really work out perfectly. read more

It is very difficult to find such a good doctor who not only offers individual attention and follow up, but who is also in-network on many mainstream insurance plans. I saw Dr Bowden a year ago, and was impressed then. Well, I just shaved my goatee and didnt stop till I shaved my head completely. I thought it was a good time to get the scalp looked at before it grew back in. I also exposed a bump under the beard I wanted removed and to have a bunch of those old man sunspots removed. I made an appointment, but this time he was booked for a few weeks. OK, no problem, My appointment was for 8:45, I arrived at 8:44. His staff is so efficient, I had the bump cut out, and a dozen or so sun spots frozen off and was on my way to work by 9:05. Cutting off the bump was painless. Dr. Bowden and his staff should teach other doctors how to run a medical practice. I'm sure I'll see him next year for more of this getting old stuff. read more

Until today, Dr. Bowden's practice was superb. He treated me very well for a very long time. He recently decided to move his practice out of Texas. I wish him the best. He is an excellent doctor. However, in his transition, his office has a new doctor who apparently does not wish to treat long time patients who are over 65. Or at least he claims he is limited to what he can do for them. I didn't know that until I went to a scheduled appointment today to see him and was told this by the receptionist. Again, I wish Dr. Bowden the best in his new opportunities. However, I would never recommend his replacement or his new office. Too bad. I almost felt like I was abandoned. read more

I got a same day appointment on a Saturday which was happily unexpected. Dr Rashid was thorough and made sure to answer any questions or concerns of mine. I was able to get prescriptions for my acne, tinea versicolor and hives all of which have been untreated tor years. Would definitely recommend him! Its refreshing to have a doctor who actually takes the time to listen and tend to your needs. read more

Dr. Bowden is awesome. I had been battling acne for the last two years and when I became pregnant my acne went crazy. Over the course of a few months, he performed a few treatments and recommended some gentle products (I couldn't use any of the good, powerful stuff while pregnant). I get the occasional pimple now, but nothing like the boil like mountains that I had. After the baby is born, he and I will figure out a regiment for the scars and to control those random pimples. I haven't ever had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes and his staff is very friendly and accommodating. read more

I'll admit I was skeptical -- what kind of dermatologist has so many awesome reviews? At first I thought it was a scam, then saw that the reviewers seemed legit (more legit than I look, even). So I took the plunge, and I gotta admit -- the praise is well-deserved. I went in for a routine visit. Very reasonable wait of a few weeks (I think the MD Anderson preventative clinic said their wait time was like six months... right). Very nice office, and they even had a little basket of samples out to help yourself! Exam rooms were super nice. Super efficient staff. Dr. was great -- seemed like a nice guy, not creepy at all considering I was mostly naked, and incredibly efficient/quick but I didn't feel rushed. read more

I recently had some issues with this place. 1. Last time I saw Dr. Bowden he wasn't engaged and I felt rushed out of there. I only learned today that he has since left this office. 2. My husband saw Dr. Rashid recently and had some issues with our insurance. We were told that the bill would be a certain amount only to get another bill from the insurance. I called the office today to discuss this issue and the doctor called me back personally to apologize for the misunderstanding. He explained the recent changes with insurance and agreed to refund the amount. I also received a message from the office manager describing some of the specific changes. This is a new doctor in this practice and it's evident to me that he cares about his business and is making every effort to making it great; the reason most of us have been customers for years. I've never had a doctor call about issues such as this and most doctors don't even call back timely regarding medical matters. I'll continue to be a patient with this new doctor. read more

My family and I have been coming to Dr. Bowden for 10+ years. I can't say enough good things about him and his staff. He has always been so great to me and my family. He and his staff are as professional and knowledgeable as it gets! Never had to wait long and never felt rushed. I loved his "better to be safe than sorry" method of removing any questionable moles or unusual looking spots and telling me honestly if he really felt it was not necessary. Dr. Rashid was punctual and listened to concerns without making me feel rushed. The lobby was empty except for myself. Dr. Rashid's office does not like taking care of normal paperwork that you expect from most doctors offices and tried to persuade me that my insurance would not cover my RX. Its a medication I've used for many years and my insurance has always covered it. I had to find the coupon from the RX company on my own to get the discount. I prefer the way most doctors office function where you don't have to do all the leg work on your own. Also, my pharmacy needed an authorization from the doctor and I spoke to the doctor himself and he suggested I complete the paperwork for him and then upload it via my phone to his company website for him to do his part. Office receptionist could not assist with said paperwork and was rude when I asked for guidance stating "the instructions are posted on the paperwork" which they are but I have never had to fill out my own RX authorization paperwork before in my life. I would not go back just based on the hoops you have to jump through to get your medication. I was skeptical and thought there would be problems based on previous reviews and I was right. I suspect he likes a high volume of clients who do not require much insurance involvement or that of a functioning front office staff. read more

My treatment was quick and efficient and had no trouble getting an appointment, but I did have to wait 5-6 weeks for it. Dr. Bowden was very nice and very professional.
