Greene Funeral Home made our experience as stress free as I guess one possibly could. It was a lot to loose our mom but from picking her up to keeping us informed and helping us along the way was an experience that we appreciated greatly. Only complaint we have is the dogs they allow to roam through the business. My husband is allergic to dogs and some of us just aren't dog/animal people. I think that should be considered when folks are frequenting the establishment... Other than that, Green Funeral Home is alright with me. read more

The absolute greatest display of business malfeasance, outright disrespect, and comprehensive unprofessionalism ever to be rendered. The total disregard and genuine unwillingness to offer any form of customer service and courtesy was disparaging and extremely frustrating. From day one of our contact we greene funeral home it was unabashedly evident that providing a peaceful, beautiful, and life celebratory memorial service for our Mother was not first and foremost....greene's financial wellbeing was. During our initial contact, Greene funeral became frustrated with us when we had questions about he fees. Donita explained to us the her base fee was non negotiable, but everything else was. We referred to cosmetology, grooming, and hair fee of $250.00 if we can have it removed. We have a family member who does this processionally and was willing to render their services, but Greene funeral home abruptly said that they could not waive the fee. We realize she was lying and was not going to negotiate on any of the fees. We did not trust to have Green Funeral home do this service, so we still had our family do it and Greene funeral services kept our money. The whole time during our initial process with Greene funeral home disrespectfully had their dogs running about their office. Instead of putting their dogs away to procure a business professional atmosphere, Greene funeral ask if we were "Dog people". Donita of the Greene funeral services paid more attention to her calculator tallying up fees rather then showing us any resemblance of customer service. She never gave us an itemize list of their services. Donita just kept plucking away on her calculator. The following are just some of the egregious acts of green funerals home: * My Mother requested just an open grave site viewing but green funeral home positioned her casket facing away from everyone so when it was open you could see my mother * In order to view my mother we had to walk up a slight rise and over small bushes and shrubs * The embalming was horrific. My mother was not recognizable. My mother was very thin and small but her head was swollen like a ballon preparing to burst *. We initially wanted to go seek out another funeral home , but in order to have my mother's body released green funeral home said we had to pay their base fee of $2,700 and an additional fee of $2,000 *. Initially Donita could not completely close the casket, but instructed her workers to lower the casket anyway. Not until my brother remarked that the casket was still partially open Donita then had her workers to stop lowering my mother and to bring the casket back up so that she could fully close it. *. When it came time to close the casket Donita could not, so she decided to slam it shut on three occasions and she still couldn't. At one point she inadvertently had the casket hood slammed on her fingers by one of her workers and she gave him the most angry and ugly stares imagined, so much so it appeared that she going to curse him out. Then she resumed slamming the casket hood *. Eventually one of her other workers came, over grabbed and lifted one corner of the casket and Donita was able to easy close the casket. The worker said the the casket was tilted, thus misaligning the door. Donita quickly shouted with glee "I knew that!". Then if she knew that then why didn't she align the casket from the beginning! *. Green funeral home never gave us a procedural plan of how the service would take place. Moments before the service they called us saying that we needed 6 pallbearers, so we quickly made arrangements to do so. When arrived at the burial site my Mother was already at the grave site. green funeral home is a major disaster.....a complete and utter disaster. Please never ever go near this place. read more

How do you rate a funeral home? I've been wondering how to do this since my sister passing. I finally figured it out. How were you treated and would I recommend them to family and friends. My father and I was to deal with my sister funeral. My father wasnt doing well with it and I was lost. I will say that Greene funeral home helped with everything. Nina Greene walked me through what was needed and Mr. Nelson Greene broke it down for us. After talking to him, my father felt like a load was lifted. They were kind and direct. Both things needed when dealing with a painful situation. Yes. I will/am recommend Greene funeral home. If you need people who not understand what you're going through and not trying to take advantage of your situation. This is the place. read more

The Gaymon family is extremely grateful to the Green Funeral Home and it's wonderful family team for the exceptional handling of our mother Maggie Lee Gaymon's passing and funeral services. They handled mom with true respect and dignity, and the support they gave to the family was second to none. They were wonderfully compassionate from the very beginning all the way through until the internment at the cemetery. We cannot say enough wonderful things about them. Though nothing can take the sting away and hurt out of losing a loved one, having the process handle with such professionalism and loving kindness takes the burden from the family and allowed us to begin the grieving process. Mom looked great, her homegoing services was uplifting. Mr and Mrs Greene and the whole team felt like our partners throughout the process to make sure that Mom's passing was treated with the divinity and respect she deserved.  Thank you Greene Family! read more

The absolute worst experience my family has had with a funeral home. They were rude and insensitive, and had an attitude on more than one occasion with multiple family members while we were trying to finalize arrangements. Among the many issues we had with this company, they nearly knocked all of the floral arrangements over while wheeling out the casket after the service. Instead of an apology, we watched as the young woman who was helping smirked as she struggled to push the casket down the aisle. If I could give zero stars I would. PLEASE for your sanity and peace of mind do not use this pathetic excuse for a funeral home. read more

The passing of a loved one is an extremely emotional time with intense family dynamics to deal with-Nelson and Nina Greene were a breath of fresh air. I appreciate the service provided and the time they spent to make this trying time as good as it could get, and would use them again. If you do not read any of the local newspapers, but will hear of someone's passing and will check the funeral home website to see when and where services will be held, but nothing in posted, maybe at a date after services have been held. read more

GFH left the grieving family on the curb waiting for one of the limos to arrive only to find the driver broke down and had no way of communicating that to the family within an hour time span. In 2014 they wanted us to believe he did not have a cell phone nor any way of making contact. We were told to wait another 30 minutes while they sent another car or we could drive ourselves. The services were 35 miles away and my brother ended up having to drive himself and other family members to his Dads funeral. This was one of many blunders caused by this funeral home. They did not run our obituary on the agreed upon date and we did not realize it until the grieving widow looked at the paper and found it missing. They said they made an error and it was running the following day. We ordered an autopsy of my father because we thought his death was due to the neglect of those that were supposed to take care of him. The medical examiner the funeral home hired for us did not provided the agreed upon services although he was paid the agreed upon fee. He did not take pictures, he would not return phone calls, he provided an autopsy summary but did not provide the toxicology reporting he promised. Dont have the space to share all. It is unfortunate that this historic funeral home now providds us such poor services. read more

This is the worst funeral home my family has ever encountered. The staff in unapologetically rude and unprofessional. First and foremost, our family member was nearly unrecognizable which is a shame in itself. It also explains why our family was not allowed to see her before she was placed for viewing. Memorial cards were handed out at her memorial that contained her name misspelled and incorrect birth date. In response to the mistake, the staff said they used the information provided- which was a blatant lie, as all of the contracts with the funeral home contained her correct information. While dogs are welcomed in many places, we believe that having them in a funeral home is inappropriate, especially when you can smell them before you see them. There is so much more which I don't have the space to explain. Greene Funeral Home is more concerned with being compensated for poor service than actually providing service. If they cannot commit to providing services with honesty, dignity, and integrity then they should remove themselves from this type of business. In no instance should any grieving family have to deal with the incompetence offered at this funeral home. read more
