This is a review for their boarding facility, Pampurred Paws. My elderly cat needed increasing amounts of medical care and, for the first time in her life, I boarded her over Christmas. I picked Pampurred Paws because they were with our vet hospital. I couldn't have been happier with the care she received - they noticed she wasn't eating and immediately notified me (on Christmas morning!) and worked on a solution. When I came to pick her up, it seemed like the whole staff knew who she was and told me how much they enjoyed having her stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them! read more

These people are dishonest at best and shady at worst. Our 14 year old cat passed away a few months ago and we've been casually looking for a kitten or kittens in recent weeks. A friend send me a Facebook post from Greenfield vet that they had two 6 month old kittens who needed a new home. My husband called immediately and the person he spoke to didn't even know that post had been shared. She told him he was the first to call about them, but they were not spayed and they needed to talk to the vet before they made any adoption plans. She told my husband she'd call him back the next day. That was on a Friday. We called the next day but the office was closed. I called again the following Monday, got no answer and left a message. They never called us back. Well, two days later I see on the same Facebook post that they've "set up a meet & greet with the first people who contacted them". That is just a flat out lie. My husband was told he was the first to contact them about the kittens. And still no call back. I wouldn't trust them to clean a litter box. And after reading a few other reviews, maybe I should be thankful to not deal with this practice. read more

Great veterinary practice with caring staff! We've been taking our cats to Greenfield Vet for about 2 1/2 years and have had all positive experiences. We've seen all 3 vets at this point, and we especially like Dr. Winnie since we have Devon Rexes and he knows what quirks of the breed to look out for. We've been able to get an appointment short notice when our cats have gotten sick and making routine checkups is also easy. They've even called to check up on how our cats are doing after being sick for a bit. The staff are all very friendly and caring and always come by to say hi to our kitties even if they aren't involved with the appointment. We haven't used the pet hotel yet, but like that it's available should we need it! read more

I would advise pet owners to take their pets elsewhere for vet care or boarding. I initially took my puppy here when I first got him and was always concerned about his lack of normal stool. Every time, they have attributed this to puppy bowels and give me something to somewhat bandaid the problem for a couple weeks. The bandaid eventually rips off and I'm left with a dog in distress and scrambling for urgent care because they are not equipped to deal with something sudden. Their test results have long turn around times. They also have been denying me tests for my puppy to rule out anything more serious. I took him to a new vet who instantly agreed this was more serious than puppy IBS and had all the proper tests ordered for hundreds of dollars less than I was quoted at Greenfield. As for the boarding, the staff failed to tell me no one is even on site from 10pm-9am. This is extremely long for any dog, not to mention a puppy to not be taken out. My puppy got a UTI from this and also was presenting symptoms while in their care that they again did not notice. The report was "a puppy who wasn't completely potty trained." This left me to go find yet another urgent care visit that was not Greenfield because they couldn't get a urine test back in under 24 hours. I chose not to wait because my puppy was in obvious distress the minute I picked him up. Overall, I don't feel this place is equipped to handle difficult cases which ends up leaving pets in more discomfort than needed and owners out hundreds of dollars. read more

Up until this year I would have sworn by this place and their staff. Then my dog got sick. My dog had been their patient for 12 years but, even after my telling them that she was constantly getting sick and was in respiratory distress, they refused to make time to see her. My dog was dying before my eyes and they told me to call them every morning to see if there were any cancellations. No offers for help. No suggestions on how to care for her in her last days. No follow-up calls to see how she was. Nothing. Well, I did get a sympathy card from them after my dog died at an emergency clinic 20 miles away. If you consider your pets your family, GF Vet is the place to go! And they are very reasonably priced as well as accommodating. I moved here to PA a year ago and was recommended to Greenfield Vet. I am very protective of my pets and only want THE BEST... and that is exactly what they are, from the front office to the Doctor's. My one dog (Joey) is a rescued cattle dog. Not only is he a one person dog but he had been attacked at least one time that I know of (with previous owner) by pit bulls. He suffered from a punctured salivary gland and had evidence of major scar tissue around his throat. Dr. Winnie explained everything in detail and performed the intricate surgery and Jo has had no issues, at all, since. The staffs' patience, understanding of all our questions and genuine care for ALL or pets is very much appreciated! Because Joey has the disposition he has, they accommodate us by bringing him in the back or even coming out back for him. The vet technician, Samantha, goes above and beyond and treats my pets as if they are her own. I've had them seem by Dr. Handke as well, and was pleased. Today I took my two kittens to this practice for the second time. The first time I took them I was surprised by how unprofessional and rude the receptionists were. They acted as if my presence was a terrible burden. Actually, they seemed like being there themselves was the worst thing in the world. The technician was friendly, but the vet barely touched my cats, and I felt as if I wasn't heard. She kept trying to end the appointment and didn't care to hear my questions, and then actually rolled her eyes when I'd ask a new question. She was inching her way to the door, just dying to get out of the room with me. I knew my first visit would be pricey, which it was. I scheduled another appointment to have my cats spayed, and the next day I called to check the price. $287 each!? That's crazy, and it's shocking they didn't tell me that in advance. Not everybody can just whip out $600 on the spot. I canceled the appointment to get them fixed ($70/each at the Northside Humane Society, includes microchipping), but I kept my appointment to take them back to get their booster shot, today. At my first appointment a month ago I even asked the gal "so next time I just have to pay for the booster shots, right?" "Yep," she says. So today when I received my invoice after the shots, they tried to charge me for an exam for each cat, which didn't happen. This place will rip you off any chance they get, it seems. I told them I refuse to pay for an exam for each cat which didn't happen, and they can remove those charges from my bill. The receptionist got up without a word and left the room, came back about 3 minutes later with a vet who I had never seen, and the vet proceeded to explain to me that this is standard and I have to pay it or else she would call the cops on me for stealing services. Well, that escalated quickly. First of all, I'm not trying to steal services. I'm trying to pay you for the CORRECT services, and not erroneous services for which I am being charged. I left without paying, which I know was wrong, but I will call and make a payment when I get a corrected invoice. One other bit: when I first arrived for my appointment today, the front door was locked and there was another customer also waiting to get in. Then, a woman walked up and around the corner of the building and into another door. She walked right by us and didn't say a word or make eye contact, so we weren't even aware she worked there. She could have said "coming back from lunch, just a minute guys," or something, but she flat-out ignored us. So right off the bat today with my second appointment I was disregarded. These people, all of them, need a lesson in customer service. The technician I had today, Cassidy, was extremely polite and helpful, and I told her that my past experience here was bad but she made up for it. Then I went out front and got the inflated invoice. Ugh, DON'T GO HERE. Just, don't. Update: Whoever from the clinic replied to my review (Carey K) is delusional and so incorrect it literally made me LOL. No need to worry! Dr Hankie is one of the most knowledgeable, kind, gentle vets I've ever had the pleasure of taking my cat to. I could tell immediately from how gently handled my old cat and how much info he gave me on her, that he was great with animals AND people. Honestly the worst vet I have ever taken my pets to. Super unprofessional and actually lost one of my dogs vaccine records and refused to take responsibility. If you like them because of their vaccine for life program it's simply not worth it. $55 and it doesn't include flu and Lyme, you can get them all taken care of at a low cost clinic for the same price. Update: the person who responded to this comment was not on the phone and didn't hear the conversation, there's a difference between swearing at someone and swearing in a sentence. The staff refused to listen to what I was saying about why the boarder couldn't be contacted so no, the staff wasn't professional or courteous. The woman I spoke to prior to the appointment had said it would be taken care of and we had spoke 2 or 3 times about it. Both my dogs were seen in April of 2020, one without an appointment when my other dog had surgery, and someone there lost the records for the dog that was not on the official schedule and are still refusing to take responsibility for the fuck up. read more

I used to bring my grandmother's dog here years ago, and have also brought my own dogs here as well. Though my dogs are total spazzes, the vet is great with them. They've both had surgeries done here without complications. I took 2 stars away because there's a sign that says, "for your safety, please let the professionals handle the pets" (not in those exact words). However, everytime I am there the vet techs are unable to handle my little ankle biters without getting hurt so I always have to hold them. 2 stars, one for each dog I have to restrain. I gave a star back because my grandmother used to call Dr. Winnie 'Dr. Weeny' for years. He earned that star. read more

I've gone there twice since Covid-19, it's a bit more of a learning experience dealing w/ pets, than for me in regards to myself, friends, family, and such. They're maintaining Covid-19 protocols and making sure everyone and every pet is safe, to the best of their ability. It's more of a stressful situation for me personally because I have skittish pets, who freak out initially w/ new people and situations. What it comes down to is, you call when you get there, they say they'll come out, they observe Covid-19 protocols, you surrender your pet for the appt (hard for me, as I'm sure it as for many pet owners), they contact you when the appts over, how long until you can pickup, make sure your outside, coming out, payment (is quick and easy), and then the return occurs. They really adjusted quickly to the current crisis greatly. The veterinarian personally contacts you (prior to pickup), to give a general overview, any updates on previous issues, possible new issues, etc. And if you have questions, they will stay on the phone and answer them. read more

We were not patients of this clinic however it was close to my sons home. His 15 year old cat needed to be put to sleep and he was extremely upset as was I. I called in the morning and was given an appointment within an hour. I can't say enough about Dr. Winnie and his staff. The empathy they showed was amazing. They made a very tough situation a little more bearable with the kindness they showed to us and to Kitty. We had a different vet we had been using previously. After a not-so-nice ordeal with them, we decided to switch to GVH. For one, it's much closer. Two, much more affordable (even though the other place called itself a "clinic"). And three, they offer the Lifetime Vaccine Program. I highly recommend anyone with pets, especially multiples (I have 4 cats) to check them and their program out. They also gave me a discount for bringing in 2 cats at a time. They were super sweet, even with my big baby Bob who whips around when held so he can "cling" to you (: We've also gotten my mother in law to switch her German Shepherd and two cats over to GVH also. Today was my first time at this vet after visiting three other vets in Pittsburgh. My other experiences weren't bad, but they didn't feel like the right place -- I think today I found that right place! The vet I saw today, Dr. Berkebile, was very thorough and yet reasonable. She made my two very nervous cats as comfortable as they could be during their exams and gave me clear options as to what I wanted to do for their care. Financial options were clear and felt reasonable to me. The reception area was comfortable and everyone was very welcoming, including the beautiful Patty, resident cat. I was very very dissappointed yes I am extremely OCD with my pupils have a baby bichon just turned 3. Be has. Een on grooming products that just got rated number 1 in Europe. Hes been on these products since 10 months when his coat started dull, a d hot spots. We started on the therapy line turning his coat into flawless then moved him to mineral red. These products are superior cosmetic product. My pups only had 1 1/2 vaccine as a baby , no antibiotics, heartworm ect. We brought him to dr Winnie he supposedly was highly recommended bear started getting tear staining in October I tried every thing from the company which I now sell. So I decided to get allergy testing Hope's it would help stains. Bear was 1 2 overweight I knew that. He storms in room doesn't even look at the dog or acknowledge him. Then he says we just dont give shots I. Said I'm here for test. Then he hands me a piece of paper. Are said has your dog had any of these one was dermatitis I said yes but I had the body under control. I told him how they on goats milk raw food, no vaccines ect. Then he says your dog is very unhealthy I said excuse me he ne er even touch him oh hes obese yes he has to loose but hes adorable. Then he started exam a d said we rate on 1-9 scale a d said gums look great usually shichons have issues with gums. Then he was such a. Aragent person said hes 81/2 since he wanted him to loose. Then told me I would be wasting allergy blood work it was excessive tearing now that hes mature. So we just got routine yearly which came perfect. I will never go back because how can a vet who has known my dog his entire 13 year life miss so much. I explained several symptoms only to be ignored then they under dosed my dog (leaving him severely distressed) overlooked severe organ and hip problems (to the point that he is past meds helping) and couldn't even correctly convey a message that we wanted to SPEAK to a vet not just get a script filled (and attempted to blame that on my wife). We called to talk to a vet at 11AM and they text us at 7:13 (when they close at 8:00) that a script was ready. For the last 6+ months my dog has been living with a very poor quality of life, in pain and constantly distressed all because they seem to care more about marking up scripts by 90%, and getting return visits than an animal's quality of life. I have to put my dog down but it kills me that because of this clinic he has been in pain for over 6+ months. If you simply need a vaccine go to Greenfield vet but if you need actual care for your pets go elsewhere bc this clinic cars more about the repeat business than the quality of the animal's life. They should be ashamed of themselves for how they treat their clients (the animals) how they speak to the owners, the fact they charge over a dollar for a pill that costs less than a dime at a grocery store and you practically have to threaten to go elsewhere to get them to call in a script to a pharmacy. Also with COVID they refuse to let the owner in and with my dog and their lack of communication skills I do not know what they assessed him for the last two visits, they take your dog at the door and you are stuck waiting in your car, why is it you can go into a HOSPITAL to visit with sick relatives but you can't go into a vet to relay what is going on, and make sure the vet does a full examination while addressing your concerns. If it wasn't for their poor assessment my dog might have gotten meds to help his organs and hips, or I would have made the decision to euthanize him to save him from 6+ months of stress, pain and discomfort! read more

I got up yesterday & my 22 year old cat couldn't walk. No movement in her back legs. I called Greenfield Vet where I've took her for years to get her an appointment. I was first put on hold almost 10 minutes & then told they were booked & to call back the next day to see if there was a cancellation. I said this was an emergency & the girl told me to call someone else. I did & took her to Banfield who were very nice & compassionate. Ended up she had a stroke & had to be euthanized. I have 3 other cats and will never take them to Greenfield Vet. They are rude & unprofessional. I suppose they knew they couldn't gouge me for money for tests & follow up visits. They claim to care about animals. My experience proved this isn't true! read more

We went to the Greenfield Veterinary Hospital to get a travel health certificate for our cat. They were very prompt (and we were very lucky) so we got scheduled within one hour of the call. The cat had to get some vaccines and we payed a lump sum but we liked how things moved smoothly. Furthermore, the staff handled our scared cat very gently and there were no meows to be heard so all in all a good experience :) Shame we're moving out of Pittsburgh and wont get to come back to this place. read more

I had a nice experience at GVH. My dog ate a mushroom a few days ago and was sick. I called GVH on tips on what to feed her since she refused to eat the next day. They gave a good suggestion- boiled ground beef and rice- and my dog finally ate. I decided to schedule an appt to get my dog seen since 4 days later her appetite for regular food hadn't came back and she wasn't drinking on her own. I was giving her unflavored pedalyte through an oral baby syringe and I felt she needed seen. I called at 1030am and the receptionist informed me they had a 12pm open. How lucky were we!! We got to the appointment and didn't wait long at all. Dr. Winnie did a thorough check on my pup and also did some lab tests. Everything came back fine regarding her organs because of the mushroom, but there was another issue (nothing serious) We ended up leaving with 3 medications and a medicated shampoo. The doctor said to stop feeding my dog beef-rice mixture before she starts enjoying it too much and eventually she will eat. He was so reassuring and helped out a lot. He fully explained everything as well as all of the medications. He wants to see my dog in a month to check the progress. I think my new dog and I have found our official vet. read more

We've taken our animals here for several years. Dr. Whiney has always treated us well and gotten us appointments within a few days time and less if we felt we needed it. Prices from Dr. Whiney are fair and the care is of acceptable quality. He doesn't have the best "bedside manner" some of the time. I think he may work himself to hard. My first encounter with Greenfield Veterinary Hospital was in 2020 when I took my senior cat for her yearly exam and shots. At that time she had had stage 4 kidney disease, heart murmur and arthritis for several years. I was impressed with the kindness of the tech, knowledge of the vet and was happy with our visit, even though we had to drop her off due to Covid restrictions. We were out of state last year, so 2022 was our next visit here. They took her back to draw blood and were back there for a really long time. Then I could hear a cat screaming and went back to check on her. They were holding her down trying to get blood when they obviously weren't going to get any at that time and instead of quitting, they were just putting her through unnecessary abuse. I had to tell them to stop. I've never seen anything so unprofesssional. Misty took the time to talk to me and explained issues they were having with help. A few months went by and my sweet old cat was taking a turn for the worse. She appeared to be in pain and was not eating. I called them to bring her in and they said they were too busy and sent me to Rivers Veterinary Hospital. The staff at Rivers was very kind and professional. The time had come to finally put her out of her pain. It was a horrible day, but the staff at Rivers Vet was most kind and took care of my sweet girl. This was six days ago and Greenfield Vets never even called to ask how their patient was or what happened. read more

I brought my dog here about 6 months ago when we relocated and I really like both vets. However, my dog is a senior dog with medical issues and it's next to impossible to get an appointment. I keep getting told to go to the ER which is highly stressful to my dog and the ER has zero knowledge of my dog or his special needs. Super disappointed and now will have to drive my dog to his old vet 6 hours away because they care and know him. Great vets here if you can actually get a timely appointment! Not so great if your pet is not in perfect health and you need a vet that can fit him into the schedule. read more

All of the staff I've dealt with has been wonderful. Friendly, professional, they also let you know what's available without pressuring you to buy products your pet doesn't need. Horrible horrible! Our puppy ripped his nail off and it was still dangling and he was bleeding everywhere. We called them ahead of time and told them what was going on. They said to bring him in. We got there about 25 min. After speaking to them on the phone. We arrive and talk to the girl at the desk ( probably the one who told us to come in) and they said that now they can't see him because they are having a meeting. Like really? You guys decided to have a meeting in 25 minutes? And was your meeting really more important than the welfare of my dog?! I have taken my dogs and my cat to see Dr. Winnie for annual check ups and vaccines. It only seemed natural to see him because one of our dogs is named Winnie. Dr. Winnie is extremely knowledgeable and took a considerable amount of time reviewing our animals and educating us on how to take the best care of them. As far as ANY and I mean ANY 1-STAR review that this clinic got, especially when referring to Dr. Winnie is ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS, I read a 1-STAR review from Judy C. on here, and first of all it sounds like a 6 year old wrote it, second of all, there is NO CHANCE IN THE WORLD that Dr. Winnie "Stormed into the room, and didn't acknowledge her or her dog". There is no possible way that he did that, simply not the way he acts/operates. This clinic and Dr. Winnie specifically is absolutely TOP-NOTCH, I wouldn't DREAM of taking my animals to another clinic unless Dr. Winnie worked there also. They are professional, courteous, and reasonably priced. The staff is amazing and they made us feel very welcome and like it was a safe place for my Fur-Babies.
