We love north boros! We got our cats established as patients here when we first moved to the area and have been very happy with their care. One of the things I love about this office is that they have walk-in sick hours every weekday morning. This is huge, as there have been occasional concerns we've had about our cats, but this allowed us to avoid crazy emergency visit charges. We are also able to schedule out Saturday appointments, where we can both bring the cats (it can be a lot to get them in their carriers by yourself) if needed. Their appointments do fill up fast but their walk-in hours are a great option if you are in a bind. They are also great about refilling my one cat's meds and helping answer questions etc. The staff is always nice and helpful, and the place itself is always clean. We are very happy coming here. read more

I'm not sure it was worth coming for just diarrhea, but my family pressured me to see a vet. Dog had no blood in stool just some mucus and not any other issues. I was getting ready to buy Fortiflora for him after having him on a chicken and rice diet anyways... $153 for them to examine and then they're going to check poop for parasites.. which I know he doesn't have. $94 for the diagnostic exam, which was a quick hands on check for any obvious signs and then $49 for poop screen Then another $75 for Fortiflora and Metronidazole The metronidazole 500mg can be gotten online for $12, they charged me $42 Fortiflora is $34.99 at petco on sale for $30.00 and they charged me $43 Just crashing out over a waste of time. They were super kind and professional. Just doing their job. But if your dog isn't actually sick and just has diarrhea just get metronidazole and Fortiflora online and save yourself the diagnostics, poop exam, and overcharge on medicine especially some otc stuff. IF my pets were actually sick, I'd totally come back, just never seeing a vet over liquid poo ever again read more

I've been taking my dog there since I got her. The staff has always been friendly. The vets have always been upfront and confident about their diagnosis with any issues so you don't have any doubts . The prices have always been reasonable. But what really amazed me is when I had to put my dog down. The staff was so wonderful on that day and the days to follow. They let us take our time in the room with her. And one of the other vets who saw her regularly called to give his condolences about her passing. The staff members upfront were very accommodating and very sensitive and went above and beyond to help with keepsakes and ways to remember my baby. They even sent a card with all of their signatures in it and a paw print. I'm not sure I could take my future pets anywhere else after that. read more

I can't recommend this vet unless you're in a bind and this is the only provider available. There has never been a time that I've called and not been placed on hold immediately. When you try to make an appointment you have to do so months in advance because they're understaffed. I understand staffing issues are prominent everywhere, but when you're trying to schedule dental extraction surgery and are told the wait will be three + months, it's not encouraging, especially knowing your animal is in pain and will have to wait. The worst part? The person who schedules surgery is only in from 8-12 pm and apparently no one after 12 can book a surgery appointment. Missed a call from NBVH in the morning because you were working? Too bad, you'll have to wait until the next business day to schedule a surgery for your pet who is in pain. It would be fine if in the voicemail they let you know about the scheduling but they don't. They make you call back and find out you're too late to schedule for the day. They need clearer communication or to not have a system where surgery is scheduled by one person. The multiple times I've brought my pets in they get them mixed up and don't know who is who. They don't provide you with any notes after the appointment. You get a different vet every time you go in and as a result the level of care and bedside manner changes drastically. Without this continuity you're not really able to build rapport or trust with your provider and you have to re-explain yourself every time you go in. It would be really helpful to have detailed notes of what occurred during your appointment from a provider that takes the time to talk to you. They're just too busy. I'm giving two stars because there have been a few times I've had really fantastic doctors. I wish I could have the same ones every time. They recently called me to give me lab results and I missed the call. The voicemail had not appeared yet but I called back because it was clear that they needed to speak with me and give me the results. When I spoke to the receptionist she told me I needed to wait for the voicemail and provide her with the name of the person who called. I told her why I was calling and that she could look up my animals name and the reason for why I was calling and probably figure out who called me by communicating with her colleagues. She refused and made me hang up, listen to the voicemail, and call back. It's things like this that show their terrible customer service and unwillingness to help. When your animal is sick you want to know that the experience from A to Z will be positive. NBVH is not that. read more

I like the set up where you can sign up at 8am to be seen in the morning office hours. And when we do have an appointment, minimal waiting. Staff is very kind and the care our dog has received has been excellent, including spaying, shots and checkups. Our dog managed to eat about 7 or 8 raisins when she was about 5 months old. They took her back, gave her an IV drug (I think) to induce vomiting. Crises averted! She was out the door and doing well in about 40 minutes. read more

My dog usually goes to a different vet in town, but needed to be seen urgently for a possible UTI. North Boros was the only place that could see my dog as a walk-in the very next day. Most other places flat out rejected citing staff shortages, even for emergencies. They officially open at 9 am, but I was able to check in at 8:30. I was told there were 12 ppl (!!!) in front of me, but the vet was able to see my dog by 9:30! The staff are efficient and everything was reasonably priced. My dog got his work up and meds in under 20 minutes. I plan to move his care to North Boros in the future! read more

Love that they have walk in appointments in the morning! Took in my Stella (new pup) to get checked for some diarrhea and they did a full exam and recommended shots, food, medications based on her age and history. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Don't be fooled by all the cars in the parking lot and the busy waiting room! I took my kitty here for what was thought to be routine dental work. I came to find out they pulled his teeth without the use of an x-ray machine! I don't know if North Boros even has one. It turned out my cat had a tumor and not dental problems - I found this out from the next vet who was thorough and used x-rays for a proper diagnosis. My kitty died a few months later. I was taking my dog to this place for allergies for quite some time I would have to take her in the morning early for walk-in because I could never get an appointment I took her there for her allergies because she was itching and scratching everywhere and I took her in they said they were going to give her allergy shot they were going to give her an antibiotic and they were going to give her one other shot that I can't remember what it was I believe a steroid they took my dog into the back girl came in and said it's going to be a few minutes because my dog needed to be put on some oxygen now mind you this dog was never sick except allergies I said okay the doctor came in and I said please tell me my dog's okay and she says no I'm sorry she's gone and I'm like what did you administer those shots to her and they said no well the doctor said no so I said I want to see my dog now she went back bring my dog in with three needles in her hand syringe is filled put some on the counter and says these were the syringes we were going to give her she said they started to clean her ears her tongue turn blue she turned pale and she fell to the table no explanation of what happened to her nothing just that they could cremate her and I had to pay for cremation I didn't have to pay for that visit for that for the day but they made me pay for her cremation and she was cremated within like 2 days I want to say it was I would never recommend taking any animal there and I will never take another animal there ever and don't recommend you take your animal there they have plenty of great reviews I don't know how I really don't it just makes me sick that I didn't get any closure on what happened to my dog other than her tongue turn blue she turned pale and fell to the table that's my last memories of my dog read more

Not going back! Our first time there . Front desk was rude bc I showed up with my child and they didn't tell me on the phone when I made the appt that only 1 person is allowed inside. Treated me like it was my fault. They were super busy and made us feel like cattle. The vet was talking so fast and telling me what he was going to do vaccination wise instead of asking me what I thought. Sorry but giving my 12 wk old puppy 4 different vacs at once with 3 of them being "non" core I'm out. Very discouraging. I went home and made an appt with a new vet at VCA on Duncan. 1000% a night and day experience. I made the right decision switching. Dr. Kelly Holupka is fantastic! She is so wonderful with our cat, Morty, who suffers from feline herpes. She often takes calls and will talk me through any issues he's having over the phone. The waiting room is always clean and filled with friendly, smiling faces. With that being said, I am not much of a fan of Dr. Bollens. We recently brought our new puppy, Eva, to North Boros, who was suffering from severe itching. He basically brushed off my concern, stating that it "might just be the way she is." I completely understand that some dogs may itch more frequently than others, but I also know when my dog appears uncomfortable and is itching because of an issue. I told him that she broke open some areas of skin. Dr. Bollens didn't even look at her or look for the areas where her skin was cut/scratched open. He dismissed my concerns and gave the vaccines and that was that. Eva was bleeding from her chest that very same night due to the itching. Needless to say, we were back in a few weeks later due to Eva itching and licking bald spots on her fur. This visit, the vet decided to administer an antibiotic and tried to get a scraping to test for mange, but could not get the scraping done due to Eva's squirming. It seemed like a giant guessing game, which did not make me feel very comfortable or confident with their treatment plans (a shampoo that does not require a prescription that they charged $30 for when I could have gotten it for half the price on Chewy). We unfortunately had to switch vets for Eva because I did not like this whole guessing game. The new vet was able to complete a scraping without issue,and provide me with plenty of explanations and projected game plans for treatment. We liked North Boros for our cat, but I think there are some areas of improvement after comparing with a different vet. read more

I found this vet after needing a somewhat emergency situation and they were able to fit me in. The have longer hours for appointments and everyone has been nothing but a pleasure. Their walk in hours can get a little hectic but COMPLETELY understandable with post Covid pet boom. (Just go as early as possible saves thousands from an emergency vet) Easy to call if I have any concerns and they even refill prescriptions for preexisting issues without needing to schedule an appointment. I brought my dog in for walk ins on monday. The receptionists and doctors where amazing. I've been going there for some time now, my parents went before. The doctors assistant at my last visits name was Lindsey. She was rude the whole visit. She rolled her eyes at me, talked down to me and made me feel very stupid. I had an accident so things do need things explained to me slower and i tried to explain that to her, but she was very rude. Later that day, I had to pick up medicine for my pet, and she was the receptionist and was very rude again. I will not be returning to this vets office, strictly for this reason. I love the vets and the morning receptionists were amazing. Some people should not work with people and animals if they don't have patience. read more

I had two cats privately cremated here. I paid through another vet's office, and the price was $105 each. After a couple of days, I received phone calls to inform me that the ashes were ready for pickup. The ashes came in plastic bags inside cloth bags. I don't have enough good things to say about this wonderful vet practice. Dr. Kelly and Dr. Bollen (along with the entire staff in general) were so caring, kind, and attentive throughout all of our experiences here. I had a very unfortunate and unexpected situation with my dog about two weeks ago that resulted in having to put him to sleep due to failing kidneys, which was extremely difficult and traumatic. But the staff at North Boros were and are absolutely wonderful and helped me through every step of the process - from diagnosing my dog, to standing by me and helping me through his very fast and unexpected death - I could not have asked for a better staff, doctors and experience (under the circumstances). I also brought my other dog in for an exam to be sure that she was OK and Dr. Bollen was so wonderful and took the time to really listen to me and answer all of my questions and concerns about her health, her grief, and what the next steps were for her in terms of regular meds and prevention. I will never take my furbabies anywhere else. Their prices are fair, they really care about you and your animals. They are always polite, kind and friendly. If you ever have to send your furbaby over the rainbow bridge, the staff here are so kind and sensitive to what you are going through and do all they can to help you. They really go above and beyond. Phil, our new Havanese, had his first Puppy Check up with Dr. Melanie. She is the best!! She answered all of our questions, and gave us the best advice for our puppy. The next day I found a tick on our little buddy, Phil would not allow me to remove the tick. I called the office and they said to bring him in and they'll take care of it. Dr. Melanie came to check on him after the tick was removed, Phil was so happy to see her. After all said and done, they didn't even charge me for their services. I went there in June for my puppies first visit for shots. They recommended I get this serestro collar. I informed them I never used it for on a dog I've had. Three months later my dog couldn't walk. I brought her in for X-rays and Lyme test. The X-rays looked fine and they said they would call tomorrow if it's Lyme. I responded asking if it's not Lyme what's the next step? Their response was I'm giving you pain pills just keep her on those. I was in shock! her walk clearly had something neurological going on. I took to Facebook to ask Friends for help. A friend said to take off the serestro collar. In three hours she was running around and completely normal. North hills boro was no help to me and with an almost 400 dollar vet bill! I was never informed my dog could be slowly poisoned for the last three months by this collar! They sold me this never mentioning the dangers. The vet never even recommended I should even take it off!!! So my 10 month puppy would still be disabled and slowly poisoned all because of this vet clinic. I have recommended them to people in the past and now totally regret it! If I could give zero stars I would. I hope she doesn't have any long term damage from this experience. I recently took my brand new puppy to North Boros after taking him to another vet a week prior and having a super odd experience. After that experience I did extensive research and chose to go to North Boros based on reviews and their experience in the field of animals. I cannot say enough great things about North Boros and their entire staff. From the minute I walked in I could smell how clean they kept the entire facility which was a very comforting thought. I approached the front desk and they immediately knew that it was my puppy and called him by his name. I waited for only 5 minutes and was taken to an exam room to be seen by a vet. The exam room was organized and exceptionally clean. The Dr walked in and made my puppy feel completely at ease. He talked to him and fed him treats and my puppy was having a great time (even during his vaccinations). I had a pretty extensive list of questions to ask and the Dr was very patient with me and extremely knowledgeable. I left North Boros confident that I not only found a good vet but I quite possibly found the best vet in and around the city! If you're looking to change veterinarians for your existing pet(s) or trying to pick one for your newest addition to your family I promise you you will not disappointed!! Also an added perk... they offer a fantastic online portal that keeps all of your pets medical history organized, shows upcoming and past appointments, and gives great articles on animals. read more

My dog has been sick for a few days, I had been calling around to find a vet that I could get him into asap as his cough was making him and me absolutely miserable. No places could take me for a few days. I called North Boros and they take walk in until 12:30 every week day, thank god. It's only a 10 minute drive to my house, which is a huge convenience. It's easily located, just off babcock. It's clean, which is a huge plus. The wait time was less than 20 minutes, also a bonus, nobody likes waiting. The staff was very friendly. Especially the vet. She actually listened to my concerns, she didn't brush me off. As a pet owner, this is very important to me. Nobody knows your pets better than you, so it's nice when someone actually takes you seriously. Ran some tests, got some meds. My dog should be right as rain soon! The only thing I didn't like was the price. $300, 160 of which was for some x rays. read more

My other dog goes in for wellness exams and such. The doctors and staff do a great job of taking car of both of my girls and take a real interest in their health. Took my dog there because he had developed a hot spot on the back of his head, which at the time I had no idea what it was and thought it was a serious would or infection of sorts. My dog is pretty anxious, and I was really nervous and worried to bring him because I have recently rescued him from a shelter and have never experienced taking him to the vet before and was going in pretty blind. I live on 5th avenue in the city and there were plenty of other vets and hospitals I could've taken him too within walking distance from my home but they all had relatively horrifying reviews, ranging from animal negligence to providing the wrong prescriptions. I'm sitting in my car with my dog reading these reviews trying to decide where I should take him and I came across this location and it had perfect reviews, even though there were only 12 the reviews all mentioned fairs costs and great services. I was seen very quickly for being a walk-in appointment because I didn't call ahead. The women at the desk were all very kind. Like I said my dog is kind of anxious and sometimes doesn't do well with other dogs so just to be safe I waited with him outside near the front and they were ready for me like I said almost instantly and she came out and got us. The vet was awesome. I think his name was Ian maybe but he was really thorough. He looked through my dogs medical records provided to me from the shelter and went over all of the possibilities of what could be going on in detail as well as going further with what shots and vaccinations he may need coming up which I had no idea about. Came down to him just having this apparently very common hot spot, which the vet gave him a steroid shot and treated the area with something else as well. Prescribed him two medications for two weeks and total visit cost was $200. Which I think is fair? I honestly have no idea but I felt that was reasonable for the service and the medications. Again idk. I'm pleased though. The lady at the desk printed out copies of everything that was done during the visit so that I can submit it to my pet insurance company and the vet who worked with my dog hand wrote everything we discussed which was really helpful. I received an email today (visited yesterday) with information for me to setup and online portal to the hospital so I can schedule visits and lookup past appointments and information which was great. Definitely going to be my dogs regular vet clinic. read more

I took my cat to this Veterinarian, as referred by good friend who has 2 cats of her own that she loves like children. I found the location easy to find, the staff pleasant and the Dr. and Assistant very loving to Mr. T. I was happy to see that Mr. T also felt extremely comfortable with them, as well. All in all, I got an outstanding report on Mr. T and was told that it is obvious I was taking very good care of him. I highly recommend this Vet Hospital to you. read more

She passed away on Father's Day and we were told by the ICU hospital on Camp Horne Road in North Hills that the North Boros location would take care of the cremation.
