    After my dog consumed rat poison from a negligent neighbor I immediately called VEG for help. They answered immediately kept me calm and gave me all the information I needed. Their location is easy to get to and has free parking in the garage when I arrived they had already known who I was from calling previously in immediately got to work and inducing my dog to throw up the poison. They kept calm demeanor that made me trust and trust between my dog and the staff. Everyone was so kind and made me feel like a safe space to get out my anger toward my neighbor for causing the situation. We were in our time I was so relieved and could not stop thanking them. I highly recommend this emergency vet for any emergency situations.

    Absolutely incredible - and not what I expected from an emergency vet. I was on the phone with a vet at 2 am, who listened to me tell her my dog's symptoms. She advised us to wait till morning so she wouldn't have to wait hours to be seen. When we arrived that next day, we were taken care of immediately. A treatment plan was offered, but not pushed on us. We were encouraged to choose to see our regular vet for follow up. I truly recommend this vet and the kind, compassionate people who work there.

    I took my cat to VEG in Pittsburgh. The staff were very compassionate, warm and welcoming. I was assisted by Theodore, and Dr. Mia Cuccaro, and their technicians put me at ease immediately. Though we could not save Louie, I know that we did the most humane thing by euthanizing him. Everyone was extremely supportive and compassionate. I highly recommend VEG fir emerfency pet. Care

    On December 23, 2025, I was in Pittsburgh for the holidays and had to make one of the most difficult decisions in my life...I had to put my 15 year old dog son, Pepe, to sleep. I took him to VEG and was immediately met with the most caring, professional, knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, transparent, and compassionate team of vets and technicians that I have ever encountered. They did absolutely everything to care for him and help him with his idiopathic seizures that he had been living with for over a year. They walked me through all the options, helped me with end of life care and were extremely patient and understanding. It has taken me months to make this post, but I have to let people know about the ineffable care that VEG provided. I cannot express how much gratitude I have for Dr. Barker, Theo, the Caitlins, Cara, Zoe, Chloe, Ali, Marissa and all the other doctors and techs there who treated my son like he was theirs as well. I know going to the vet can be challenging and fearful, but know that the team at VEG is world class and they will care for your babies with everything they have to give. Thank you, VEG Pittsburgh for all your kindness and compassion. You made one of the most difficult decisions easier for me and I will always be grateful to you.

Products include foods, collars and leashes, beds, carriers, toys, aquarium tanks, litter boxes, grooming supplies, and much more. I recently shopped at this store to purchase wet foods for my cat. I felt happy that her preferred flavors were in stock and that the prices were typical. However, her dry food cost more here than from Chewy and Amazon. Furthermore, I did not see my cat's preferred toys and furniture, and I thought that the prices for litter were a bit high. I walked around the other sections of the store. My husband commented that a bird cage had many birds in it, but the birds looked healthy otherwise. The cashier immediately and accurately rang up my purchase and thanked me. At home, my cat enjoys eating her wet foods. This store also offers grooming, training, veterinary services, and an adoption center, but I did not use them.

They then proceeded to speak negatively about AVETS and question their professionalism, which I found very unprofessional and unnecessary. What gives them the right to refuse service based on their own opinion when a licensed veterinary hospital already cleared him? Because of this, my dog was unable to be groomed and it ruined our Christmas photo plans. Very disappointed and won't be returning.

When I picked her up, they told me the groomer couldn't finish the job because she kept biting the groomer. I replied that she has never bitten or nipped a groomer & I was certain the reason for the behavior had to be because of the groomer. The manager and I argued back-and-forth. He held his ground and insisted it was my dog, and I insisted it was his groomer. After getting home, I noticed that my Yorkie kept licking herself. I looked more closely and saw the reason why she was nipping the groomer. He had injured her with a large clipper burn near her belly. I took a photo & went back to the Dog Stop to show the photo to the manager, Caleb, who offered such a lame apology that I felt it necessary to tell him that it was no apology at all - a further disappointment, and I told him so. I asked for a refund, which he did give me and then I went directly to the Vet for ointment.

    I recently had a disappointing experience with this business. I've brought my dog here around five…read moretimes before, worked with several groomers, and never had any issues until now. Unfortunately, this most recent experience was bad enough that I felt it warranted a review. Shortly after booking my dog's grooming appointment for Saturday (5/16), I received an email saying it had been rescheduled to the following Saturday (5/23) because of a scheduling error on their end. The email claimed they had tried calling me but couldn't get through, despite the fact that I've spoken with them by phone multiple times before and since without issue. The only accommodation offered for the inconvenience was a $5 discount on a future appointment that would expire before I'd likely return. Because the new date was inconvenient, I rescheduled online for Monday (5/18). After dropping my dog off Monday morning, I picked her up about an hour later. The groomer told me she had done great and that there were "no issues." However, once I got home, I noticed several of her nails had not been trimmed at all, while others were barely cut. Nail trimming was included in the grooming package I paid roughly $60 for after tax and fees, so I called to explain the issue. The owner promptly called me back and offered an appointment for the following day, which I couldn't make because of work. I asked about Friday or Saturday instead. There was no Friday availability, so the earliest option was once again Saturday (5/23) -- the same inconvenient date I had originally tried to avoid. The only available times also conflicted with plans I had already made, meaning I would have needed to rearrange my schedule just to have the service completed. At no point was any refund, discount, or other accommodation offered, despite the fact that I would now need to spend additional time and gas money returning for a service that should have been completed the first time. What bothered me most was the owner's attitude during our conversation. She spoke to me in a condescending and defensive manner, and I often felt like I was being lectured rather than listened to. She explained that they stop services if a dog becomes anxious, which I actually think is a great policy. However, if that was the case, it should have been communicated to me when I picked up my dog instead of being explicitly told there had been no issues. The owner even said she didn't know if there had been any issues because she hasn't spoken to the groomer yet. My dog is 7 years old and has had her nails trimmed many times before, both here and at other groomers, without any reported problems. Regardless, if a paid service cannot be fully completed for any reason, that should be clearly communicated to the customer at the time of service. The lack of communication and the owner's response felt very unprofessional. Once I mentioned that the combination of the scheduling problems, incomplete service, and poor communication would likely result in a negative review, the owner became even more defensive and insisted they were "doing everything they could" to make it right. But aside from offering to complete the service I had already paid for, nothing else was offered. The call ended with the owner insinuating there was no way to make me happy, and me simply saying thank you and hanging up. I ultimately decided not to bring my dog back because, after this interaction, I no longer felt comfortable trusting this business with her care. The owner also repeatedly emphasized that they are a small business. That's actually one of the reasons I chose to support them in the first place. But being a small business is not an excuse for poor service, poor communication, or poor customer service. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not recommend this business.
