Granted there are far more Caspians around Birmingham but Pizza Pepper benefits from fresh bright branding and my only complaint was the poor choice of soft drinks as I do taste the difference between coke and pepsi thankyou! They serve a wide range of food including the normal chip shop food as well as burgers, chicken and pasties. The prices are reasonable and the staff are relatively friendly. It only gets 2 marks because of the past experiences and because food can be hit and miss (quality) depending upon what time of day you go.

Recently though, the quorn has fallen by the wayside (quite likely I was the only person to ever order it?) and so now their pizzas are absolutely adequate, but nothing special for me - the meatless, cheeseless, fishless, eggless eater. What I WILL say for PQ is that their meal deals are crazy cheap (reg. pizza, reg. fries, can of drink - £4.50!) and they -do- make tasty pizzas. It's just that if you have funny eating habits like me, you'll be resigned to the usual mushroom, tomato, onion and pepper. Yawn.

I personally don't like the skin left on one side which many places did. It can sometimes leave a fishy taste I think. There was no skin at Masons...the batter was very light and crispy and the fish was cooked just right. A+ Masons! The fries may have tasted better if I had eaten there....after carrying home they were not hot and that makes a huge difference with fries for me. They weren't bad...just not special in any way. He said the fries were a small order but it was a very big order for me....could have shared for sure. The fish was a nice size as well. I would go back....and probably will before I leave.

The first was for a pre-theatre dinner with my vegetarian, gluten-free mother, so speed and variety were imperative. For once, she was spoilt for choice and didn't have to compromise her meal. Also, the food was served so quickly - it felt as though we had only just ordered and our meals were already there on the table. On the second occasion, I hadn't booked a table and we were told the wait we would be an hour.
