I stayed at Greenstay over the Christmas holiday 12/22 -12/25. PRO's - Extremely accommodating staff and management. I had one small booking error (my fault) and after speaking with manager Jaime- not only did she assist me but upgraded me. - Check-in was quick & easy. Tara was very welcoming and helpful! - Check-out was quick as well. Dani was very friendly and conversational. - The rooms include mini fridges and microwaves. - Free breakfast including hot & cold items. I have stayed here several times visiting family in St. James. The variety of items was not as extensive as it is during summer months but still a good variety. (In summer there are toppings for the homemade waffles and variety of pastries). The waffles are my favorite. - Indoor pool - This is one of the reasons I stay here! Great indoor pool that closes at midnight - Free Wine Tasting- Another favorite feature of the hotel. You can sample many award winning wines. - Conveniently located right off I-44 and next to McDonalds (walking across parking lot) - Free parking and lots of spaces available CON's -Outdated motel - but you know that looking at the photos. Most rooms are exterior rooms. Interior rooms available upon request but very limited. - Bed is very firm. But pillows are super soft and they will provide extra pillows upon request. - Weak shower pressure (again nothing they can really do about the shower pressure) Overall I give it 4 stars. I love the staff. I feel safe and sleep well here. I do reccomend Greenstay. It is not a Hilton or luxury hotel but is the best St. James has to offer. It is worth the price you pay. read more

We chose to stay here as we were going to float the meremac the next day. We had 2 rooms for two nights. Checked in on Saturday night. The rooms appeared to have the beds made but whatever offensive air freshener was used was so strong that it was almost unbearable. Our miniature schnauzer threw up it was so bad. Air conditioning was barely able to keep the room cool enough but made the room so humid all of our belongings were wet. We packed up the next morning and didn't even stay the next night. No refund was given for the night we didn't stay.. would not recommend.. go to Rolla or cuba. UPDATE!!!! OUR DOG CAUGHT FLEAS FROM STAYING IN THIS GARBAGE DUMP..!!! read more

Do not even stop! The man working(manager/owner) was horrible and abrupt when responding to common questions. . The lobby was dirty lobby and had a horrible food or mildew smell. Although the employees were friendly, the accommodations were less than satisfactory. Our reservations were confirmed as a "smoke-free' room however, it reeked of stale cigarette smoke. Other issues with the room include a piece of bubble gum stuck to the wall by one of the beds, paint chipped walls and ceiling, the outlet by the bathroom vanity didn't work, the bottom left corner of the full length mirror was broken off, holes in the shower curtain, chipped furniture, and finally, a large spider in the bathtub. I definitely would not stay again nor recommend this hotel. Anyone coming to the area would be better off renting an Air B&B since other accommodations are limited. read more

The owners are very nice and you can't beat the price!!! I have stayed a few different times and they were very accommodating!! You have a indoor pool and free breakfast for $75 a night!!! Yes it could use a little updating but compared to the other motels this is the Ritz Carlton!!! When there is an issue they are very fast in helping resolve it!! They have Dove shampoo and conditioner and lotion available in the rooms as well, no other motel I have ever stayed had that!! I really enjoy staying here and will continue to do so whenever I need a motel in St. James Mo!!!!! read more

The nonsmoking doesn't mean anything. The room smells terrible and every time the wall unit turned on more cigarette smoke smell rolled out. The 'chair' in the room was disgusting. My daughters room had gum stuck on the wall and then painted over. read more

This place is terrible. We arrived for our stay at the arrival time they gave us then they told us to wait 2 hours for "cleaning" so we were okay with this and went to dinner then we came back to swim in the pool and the big in charge lady came to yell at our group for having water bottles with crystal light mixed in them when families in the pool had beer bottles and they said nothing. The beds had stains and the customer service desk was extremely rude. Do not recommend staying here and I've been to horrible motels all over the US. No ice here either read more

I have stayed in A LOT of hotelsover the years, and the Greenstay in St. James is the absolute worst hotel I have ever been in. First of all, they apparently don't tell EVERYONE that they price match and I'm not sure if it is on their website. But if you're reading this review, now you know that they DO price match, and they will even price match their own LOWER rate. We came to town and booked within a block of rooms. We originally booked at $89/night with the room block rate. When we checked in, they price matched their own $54/night rate. We checked in a day before my mother in law did, and they did not tell her about their price matching. We told her about how we were able to get a lower rate and when she went to check out she brought it up and they refused to price match for her. They said they could not price match at check out because rates may be different and because she checked in on a weekend day and not a week day. We checked the rates for the next month, and they were $54 for every week day and $68 for every weekend. They still refused to apply the lower rate. Greenstay, as a whole, was absolutely disgusting. There was thick and obvious dust around the floor's perimeter. Due to the large gap under our door, every scent and creature will be sure to enter your room. You'll be sure to make best friends with the flies. We had no less than TEN flying around at any given time. Did I mention the dead cockroaches?! Although we did not find any live roaches running around our room, we did find tons of ants crawling on our sink, on the floor in the moldy bathroom, and into our bags. Definitely mold in the shower, on the shower curtain, on the bathroom floor, and in the room. The room was extremely musty and with the multiple ceiling stains, I'm sure there was mold hanging over us in the bed and spreading throughout the air. The multitude of stains all over the carpet made it impossible for us to feel comfortable enough to walk barefoot, and I partially want to burn my flip flops I wore at Greenstay. They place a paper wrapper around the toilet seat when you get there claiming that the toilet has been cleaned and sanitized, but when my mother in law first went to the use her toilet, she opened the lid to find poo in her toilet. Oh! Did I mention the cleaning crew quit mid-stay as well?! Not only did the cleaning staff not do an efficient job, they also don't exist anymore. The grounds were unkempt...weeds that looked like they've been growing since ancient times. Cigarette butts and trash all over the stairs, sidewalk, and parking lot even though there's buckets outside every room. There was a huge party of people in lawn chairs sitting in a circle in the parking lot on Saturday night and loud people yelling almost every night. Think you'll be able to relax poolside? Don't bring your swimsuit...the I ndoor pool has not been taken care of. The water was green and there was algae growing on the bottom of the pool. This was the absolute worst sleep I've had in years. I feel like I need a vacation after staying at Greenstay. Moral of the story: DO NOT STAY HERE, but if you absolutely have to, bring Clorox wipes, your own sheets, towels and pillows, because if you don't clean your room, who will? You'll also want to bring ant and roach killer so you don't bring those critters home with you, and be sure to PRICE MATCH to save money, because this place isn't worth $10/night. read more

This place was one of the most cleanest and good priced hotel I've ever seen it has a sink outside the bathroom which was perfect for more then one person. There was also two Make-up removers two little lotions, two two in ones of shampoo and conditioner, and last but not least TWO shower caps. The girl who was at the front desk was really nice and gave me stary which is a yummy lemon lime soda, also Heather if you are reading this I really appreciate what you gave me tysm. Cons: Disgusting. Carpet made kids feet black after 10 minutes barefoot in room. Coffee pot still had someone else's grinds in it. Shower and bedframe had hair on them. Bath tub was dirty; kids had to shower instead. Lots of flies in room, and more came in each time the door opened because the sidewalk outside is filthy. Smokers on second level ash down onto first floor rooms. Not sure about availability of ice but the bucket had dirt in it. Pro: Front desk staff was helpful in price matching since we made a mistake with our initial reservation. read more

Clean, quiet and possibly the best place to stay for the price between Tulsa and St. Louis. We've stayed here a few times now on cross country trips and this place is always exactly what we're looking for. It's got the shower, bed and TV...what else do you need when you're only staying there for the night. I highly recommend staying here! read more

If it wasn't for the lying and false advertisement, I might've given them a few stars but not happening ESP after breakfast.... Hotels.com gave us a deal and it said it was a "Hotel and Suites" sound nice right? NOT! It's a MOTEL... Outdoor stairs for which my mom who has issues climbing stairs had to climb because they didn't inform us it was outdoors when she called. They have an indoor pool, fridge in the room and tall thick mattresses which are the only 2 things I can say we're positive. Breakfast is from 6-9am. At 8AM There was no orange Juice, syrup, and the staff had no idea where anything was in the cabinets. They kept apologizing profusely for running out of everything... They had to send someone out to Walmart to get things. The donuts, bagels, and the rest of the bread was refridgerated. There were egg discs and minimal coffee fixings. They had muffins and some biscuits that you had to warm which weren't awful... But nothing to write home about. Had a waffle maker, but again no syrup. Only fruit loops and Raisin Bran cereal and light and fit yogurt. I would have put 0 stars but they wouldn't let me... So I guess 1 star will have to do for the clean room and beds but the breakfast and lying out numbered the good... Ugh never again read more

This would be zero stars but not an option. We had 7 rooms for a volleyball camp and at least 3 had bed bugs. Unfortunately we didn't find them until one of the coaches got up at 3 to use the restroom. Needless to say we got out of there. Staff was not very helpful and insisted on us paying a local tax before we could check out. We will be letting the camp official know not to book rooms there again. Not happy campers at 3am..when we have several games to play on no sleep. read more

I loved this pace! The breakfast has improved in the last year! The room was so clean! There are a lot of private owned restaurants with good eats! Meramec Springs is about 8 miles down the road too! Definitely will stay again! The staff is friendly and welcoming too! read more
