Went in to get a new watch battery and they told me it takes a week. A week!? The guy said their "watch guy," was on vacation. I worked in a watch store for years, it takes 5 minutes to do and a caveman could do it. If he had given me the tools I would've done it myself right then. This is supposed to be a high end jewelry store - NONE of your employees know how to change a watch battery!? You have ONE guy??? I suggest training someone else on staff to do this INCREDIBLY easy and super quick task. It should technically be done while your customer is browsing... of course I didn't get a chance to do that. The store itself looked nice but to have such a lack of basic jewelry knowledge at a jewelry store leaves me nervous that the remaining folks in the store are just there to sell you. I bought a beautiful pre-owned watch from Radcliffe through their shop on the eBay platform, and the problem that occurred was a result of eBay's handling of the watch during eBay's new required in-house inspection process and authenticity guarantee. Erik from Radcliffe committed to standing behind the sale even if eBay would not resolve the problem, and I think that demonstrates absolutely the right long term perspective on cultivating client relationships. Fortunately, eBay did resolve the issue (covering the cost of a full service by my local watchmaker), but having Radcliffe's assurance of support increases the likelihood that I will turn directly to them for future watch purchases, as of course they offer their own in-house guarantee. Place is shifty and not trust worthy. Bought a PLATINUM ring for my wedding and when i went to go pick it up, it was a PALLADIUM ring. Wouldn't have been a big deal if they admitted fault right then and there but what gave me a horrible experience was they tried to tell me it was a Platinum ring when anyone can clearly see the letter PLD located in the inside of the ring. I had an excellent experience with Radcliffe Jewelers. I had recently purchased an Tag Heuer chronograph aquaracer from them, at a very fair price. about a month after having the watch i noticed that the time keeping wasn't as accurate as you might expect from a Swiss time watch. I brought the watch to a local Jeweler and they told me the watch needed a significant over-hall service, which would cost a fair amount of money. I spoke with Chris Walsh, an employee of Radcliffe and he advised me to send the watch back in so they could take a look. He informed me that the watch was magnetized and just needed to be demagnetized, and have a regulation service. All services were provided free of charge and the watch has been keeping excellent time since i received the watch back. I was very impressed with the professionalism and service that I was provided with during my experience, and i look forward to being a customer in the future. read more

I bought an engagement ring for my wife here in 2009. Everything went well during the buying process. They found a selection of diamonds for me to look at, took the time to educate me on them, returned calls pretty promptly, and I felt pretty taken care of. I bought a beautiful diamond and platinum band in the high four figures. Almost a year later, we were buying my wife's wedding band, and decided to go online (Blue Nile) to save some cash. The band came while I was at work, and my wife told me they didn't match. "You got platinum, and my band is white gold." Uh, what? No it isn't. I'm sure of it. I rush home, tear open the filing cabinet, and find the receipt and appraisal that Radcliffe did themselves. Platinum. I look at the ring, with a bunch of pits and imperfections and know it's white gold. I call them up, explain the situation and basically ask when I can bring it in to get the band exchanged. They tell me they're going to have to talk about it internally. A few days go by, and I call back to check in. They're still not sure if they're going to do it. I tell them it's on my receipt, it's on my appraisal, it's what I was told the ring was - that I wouldn't have paid what I did if it was just white gold. They tell me they re-ran the numbers and the price I paid was for white gold, even though the receipt says platinum. They say platinum costs $3,000 more and they're not going to do it. Ah, so this is why I got a good deal at a high-end store. Believe me, I did my research and know what the retail of this ring is, and what I could have bought it for on Blue Nile and other retailers. I paid about what it would have cost on BN. It makes sense now. I call back and basically lay it out for them. Fix it or I'm going to make this into a big deal. I mention that I'm not afraid of small claims court, and your "Whoops, your paperwork is wrong, sorry." isn't going to cut it. At this point we're almost a week away from our wedding. This is where they finally relent like they're doing me a favor. "You know what, okay, bring it in and we'll do it." They absolutely made me feel like I was pulling one over on them. But in the end they did it, and it is definitely a beautiful ring. Did they fix their mistake? Yeah. Could they have handled it more professionally? Yeah. I still have a terrible taste in my mouth about the whole thing. At the time it felt like they used the band as a way to close the sale and make the deal look good, when really for white gold, it would have been *way* high. You'd expect this from some low rent store in the mall, not an old school, high end, family jeweler. Honestly? Go here and find what style you like. Then go on Blue Nile and buy it for 30-50% less. I live in Oklahoma where access to higher end watches is pretty limited in person. I was looking for a certain Breitling and found a lead on it in a watch forum. I contacted the person and it happened to be Erik, he informed that the watch had already been sold but that he had just taken a larger version of it in on trade and that it would be available by the end of the that week. I asked him if he could email me the listing when it was ready and he did so the very next day. After checking it out I called him on his cell and he actually answered my out of state number right away. We talked a little about the watch and AFC football as my Chiefs had just won the same Super Bowl that his Ravens were destined to win 20 weeks prior. Whether he was genuinely interested in the conversation or not he did an outstanding job of making me believe he was, listened to my questions patiently, answered them clearly, made some jokes, he was great to talk to. It was IMO a great deal and I had worn larger Bretiling pieces in the past so I convinced myself that as beautiful as the watch was and the as great as the price was I would be fine with the larger case size so I pulled the trigger and wired the funds. It literally arrived the very next morning. Let that sink in; a watch located in Pikesville, MD that I paid for at around 3:45pm CST was delivered to my home in Tulsa, OK at roughly 9:30am CST the very next day! I don't think Erik could've gotten it to me faster unless he chartered a plane and personally delivered it my door. I opened the package and the watch was stunning, packaged very well and in amazing condition just as it was advertised to be. I had it sized to my wrist and then put it on for the first time. It was too big and heavy for me liking but I was also in a hurry that day. I put it back in the box and tried it again the next day, still didn't like the way it felt or looked on me, tried it again the next day and the next day, never having worn it for longer than a few minutes each time. I felt bad for the watch truthfully, it wasn't the watches fault that it never made it out of my bedroom, it was my fault. After thinking about it all weekend and trying to decide do I keep trying to convince myself I will wear it? Which I knew I wouldn't, it would sit in watch winder and get put on a couple times a year because I wasn't comfortable with it. I even thought about sitting on it and selling it down the road. I decided that it was too beautiful to have to live a life with me that would be void of wrist time so I knew I needed to call Erik. They have a 7 day no questions asked return policy but now all I'm thinking is "oh man, this guy is not going to be as nice when he hears why I'm calling, he's gonna be pissed that I wasted his time and resources, will they try to do some smoke and mirror nonsense to deny the return policy". I called Erik that Monday morning which happened to be Prez's Day as well and honestly expected him to be off work or the store to be closed. Low and behold he answered my call right away, I asked if it was good time to talk and he let me know he was in some meetings and would be happy to call me back in 4-5 hours. Not only did he call me back but he called me back maybe 20 minutes later! I told him that I needed to go ahead and use the 7 day return policy and literally the only question he asked was if the watch itself was ok, I explained to him what I've just explained to whomever is reading this and not only was he still the friendly and personable guy from our previous communications but he went as far to let me know he understood, that this is why they (Radcliffe) has the 7 day no questions asked return policy and that he was sure my next purchase would be better. Later that day I had the links put back on the bracelet, packed it up (probably) too carefully and took it to FedEx. My check with my full refund amount it scheduled to be delivered tomorrow which is the Friday following Prez's Day. I guess I told you all of that to tell you this, Erik is great person to work with even if you don't make (or keep) your purchase! read more

Horrible practices. I made an offer to them on chrono24 for a $8k+ Rolex, they countered my offer Monday morning and it has a 24 hold time. I accepted Monday evening, I then received a request to pay. I paid...then this morning I receive an email that they already sold it to someone else and wanted to see if I would take their one year old scratch version of the same watch...mind you I was buying new. Classic bait and switch....they processed a refund and now I will get my money back in a week. Then they just stopped communicating. They would have had a return customer as I've bought an a few just this year, I might have even taken the one year old at the right price. I'll never forget the moment I first walked up the stairs to the home section to meet with Tiffany Averill; I was struggling with some personal challenges that day, and the shock of being surrounded by so many stunning items had me unexpectedly fighting tears. Tiffany came over, sensed that her new bride-to-be was overwhelmed, dispensed with formalities, and pulled me into a warm (and most welcome) hug. "It's going to be wonderful," she told me. "You deserve this." She walked with me as I began to browse, chatting lightly about wedding plans, asking about our family, and letting me discover the collections that spoke to my (often atypical) taste - no pressure, no tactics. When I was drawn to an item, she told me about the designer (I was amazed about how much she knew not only about the collections, but about the art and artistry behind the work), noted other available pieces not on display, and recommended other styles that might complement it. I returned to Radcliffe (to exchange an item or two, and then to pick up a piece I'd selected that wasn't in stock), and both times, Tiffany continued to treat me with the utmost care, warmth, and personal attention. I was initially hesitant to register at a place like Radcliffe, knowing that the registry would be a smaller list than most, and that I wasn't the store's typical customer. But Tiffany did more than just introduce me to items I would love - she saw and understood ME, and made me believe the words she first spoke to me that day. And after we were done selecting items for the registry, she asked to see photos of my dress and headpiece (again, not traditional bridal style), asked if I'd treated myself to any special jewelry for the wedding day, and after a few quick questions about my budget and other wedding-day details, led me back downstairs...to the perfect pair of earrings. I wore them happily and proudly the night I married the man I love and officially joined our families (incidentally, our four sons also adore the Michael Aram pieces). I wore them for an interview (landed the job), and I wear them with jeans and a tank top now that summer's here. My boyfriend gave me a budget and told me to find a ring that I liked so I began visiting area jewelers. Radcliffe had the best display with either a diamond or CZ in each mounting so I could visualize the final result. The sales staff doesn't work on commission so they don't push you in any direction but do provide expert advice. Jason Grass is my favorite- he is personable, genuine, and truly an expert in his field with years of experience and GIA training. Mr. Marley works to create the custom mountings and is also fantastic. Once I narrowed my choices down for cut, clarity, color, carat, as well as a few other considerations like fluorescence, polish, etc.., Jason arranged for stones and mountings to be sent from the Towson store as well as from wholesalers. Marley and his crew customized different mountings and created CAD drawings as well as wax rings for me to consider. I selected two stones that I liked as well as a mounting style and told my boyfriend to make the final decision. He chose a stone, Radcliffe crafted the mounting, and he picked it up. He didn't like it. Jason immediately took the ring right back, arranged for the other stone to come back from the wholesaler, had Marley and his staff recreate the ring which required new halo stones to look right, in their opinion. The finished product made my boyfriend happy and when he proposed, I was blown away by how beautiful the ring turned out to be. Jason and his coworkers are consummate professionals who work with you not just to sell you one piece of jewelry but to make you happy with your purchase and to create a lifelong relationship. **MINORITIES BEWARE** Being ethnically diverse I am used to people addressing me differently. I was on my way the gym and had my gym clothes on. From the moment I got out of my car making my way towards the store the security guard watched me until I got to the front door. No greeting ... just a blank stare. When I asked where the watch repair was located he pointed me to the back. I get to the empty watch repair counter and waited and waited. I finally said "hello" and a lady came out and said "Hold on I'm doing something" and walked to the back again to what she was doing. Another few minutes rolled by and she comes out and says "Are you here to pick up or drop off?" I asked if I could switch a watch part out from one to another. She replies "We don't really do that. It devalues the watch." I then asked if I use it as a trade in toward another watch. Emotionless she says, "No were not interested." So I left. I make half a million a year and they treated me like I just crawled out of a dumpster. The staff totally brushed me off and they were completely unprofessional. It left a bitter taste in my mouth. I had a fantastic experience here. I was shopping around for my now husbands wedding band, and getting price quotes from a ton of different jewelers. I appreciate the staff being honest about the price of gold (it changes all the time) so the price marked is not necessarily what they will sell the ring for. Sure enough, the price of gold had dropped, meaning the price of the ring was less than what was on the sales tag. I'm also a bit of a procrastinator and purchased the ring about a week before the wedding, and it needed to be resized. The staff was prompt about getting the ring done on time. It was arranged in such a way that made it easy to browse, but also to see all of your options. I was surprised to find so many things that suited my taste. Amy helped us see all of our options and was very attentive, but was not at all pushy. She has also been very response via email about adding things to the registry. Though we registered here mainly for our Baltimore wedding guests, the store creates an online registry and guests can purchase online.
