I called four times to make sure the place was open before starting out even though I was going during business hours. No answer and no message on the voicemail indicating closed that day. I finally just went. Got there and there was no closed sign or anything in the window but the lights were out and the door locked. I called again (no phone number on the door). A man answered and told me he was closed bc he was sick in bed and said he should be open the next day. I asked for a price estimate on replacing a lobster clasp for a necklace. He didn't offer one but said he was the cheapest around. After reading other reviews and experiencing what I did, I'm not trying again. read more

This store has tons of character with unique jewelry pieces presented at the front and the owner is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I took in a pinky ring from my late father to get resized as it was just sitting in my closet for many years. I had high hopes for this...I dropped off a sentimental ring in need of repair - that belonged to my late aunt back in mid October. I was told the repair would take a week. I have still not received the ring after calling several times and running into voicemail box that is full - while still receiving no word on the status of the repair. It is now mid January. I came in to get the clasp to my anklet reattached. Based on the great reviews, I came here. Middle Eastern man opened the door, asked me what I needed. I told him my issue. He told me it would be $20. Fine. The fix itself took all of 3 minutes, great. When it was time to render payment, I pull out my card and he stares at me. I asked if he took cards and he said, "we prefer cash, but we do accept cards." As I hand him the card, he says, "what if I told you I won't take your card?" Now I'm confused, because I don't know if this is a joke or what. I told him he'd be shit out of luck, because a card was all I had. So, he proceeds to snatch my anklet out of my hand, smiles, and then says, "see how we would have a problem now?" He then spends the next 2 minutes berating me on how he's trying to "teach [me] a lesson" and that it is my responsibility to always carry cash on me, because that's a universal method of payment. It's my money and I choose to carry what I damn well please. I told him that he should, at the very least, have a sign up that they are a cash only establishment or direct me to a nearby ATM so I can render the preferred method of payment. He then said that's not his job for him to do and I should have asked immediately what method of payment they accept. 1) don't try to teach me a damn lesson. I'm a grown adult who chooses to carry my money how I wish. If you would have politely told me that it's cash only and then sent me to the nearest ATM, I would have more than obliged. 2) put some damn signs up. If you don't want to do that, put it somewhere (i.e. this Yelp page or even your Google business page... OR YOUR WEBSITE) so patrons are prepared to pay in cash. 3) don't ever speak to a grown adult in such a condescending manner and then end the conversation with, "I'm trying to teach you a lesson." The two stars is because the service was rendered. I don't take disrespect or a man talking down to a woman well. I originally came in to ask about reworking a ring to replace a CZ with a diamond. Stephen was extremely patient with my numerous questions and made suggestions that I hadn't even thought of. Several months later, my husband presents me with a new ring that he and Stephen had collaborated on. All the CZs are replaced, the setting - which I loved - is totally new in white gold but based on the original design, and the other CZs are replaced with pink tourmaline! My wedding band and engagement ring had been sliding around my finger, nearly falling off, for over a year. Since moving to Baltimore, I'd called around to a few big-name jewelers near Towson to inquire about resizing and got a combination of grouchiness and sky-high "ballpark" quotes from them. I did a last ditch yelp search in the Canton area instead and stumbled on Stephen's rave reviews. He absolutely lives up to them, by the way. He resized my rings perfectly, explained why others had a hard time getting it right (the setting for my stone prevents the ring from sliding all the way down the measuring tool jewelers use, so my sizing was perpetually too big), and returned the rings quickly and probably about as sparkly as the day I got them. Highly recommend Stephen's expertise for repairs and resizing over any big box stores around town. This isn't the kind of storefront where you'll find impressive, shiny display cases or really any fuss at all, but what you will get is a friendly, expert jeweler with very reasonable prices who really knows his stuff. read more
