Beautiful free little arboretum in Greensboro. Manicured and pretty clean. All the young kids were there taking pictures for their prom or graduation or whatever it is. I could see why they would go there, beautiful backdrop for sure. Very peaceful and lots of areas to sit, read or look at nature. The more time I spend in Greensboro the more I feel its namesake may be due to green spaces rather than a revolutionary general. And the arboretum may as well be the central Jewel in the crown. This space is an endless amble filling the otherwise unused, hilly gaps of in-between. There are gravel, mulch, dirt and paved pathways intermingled with themed spaces, specialty gardens, groves of large native trees, plenty of benches, shaded and sunny spaces alike, and an assortment of artistic installations. It connects neighborhoods to baseball diamonds and wide open multi-use fields. There are places to picnic the day away or watch the kids burn energy on the playground. And best of all, it's completely free and easily accessible from multiple points along the perimeter. If you are looking to spend a quiet Sunday de-stressing before a new work week, I can't recommend this place more! read more

This place was on an irregularly shaped tract of land that wasn't the easiest to find from the highway. Having located it, this is not a huge stretch, but it has some interesting thematic gardens and some quiet (albeit mosquito-filled) places to sit. Restrooms were blocked off by some people doing an impromptu dance rehearsal for some inexplicable reason, but normally would be available, as would the playground and ball field nearby. The place was not of the size and scope where I'd say you'd go out of your way to see it, but it is a nice community resource. read more

This was a wonderful place and a wonderful walk. Coming from DC, I absolutely would not qualify it as an arboretum, but maybe I'm spoiled. It's more like a well manicured, colorful park for a delightful walk. You can take a slow walk through it within 1-2 hours, if you're casually plant perusing. Otherwise it's rather small. The plants largely have little signs identifying them. There's little nooks on offshoots from the main path. Delightful bridges. There's even some lovely colonies of mushrooms here and there. Very picturesque. There was even a bridal party taking photos when I was there (not at all obtrusive, though). Overall, I absolutely recommend it for walking, learning about plants to some extent, painting/drawing/journaling. But a couple stars off because it's not really an arboretum. read more

This place is cute and well taken care of, we were so glad that we were able to stop in here on our trip. They have some walkways that take you along, a vine covered path through one area and then a gazebo structure that had seating in it. We didn't go into the arboretum building there so I am not sure what it had in it. I would definitely recommend this since it was free and a great place to spend some time. read more

The fountain, the gazebo, the biggest chimes, the sages under the big trees and all the benches are so perfect to sit down and just relax. Growing up in metro New York, the lack of wide open green spaces has really led me to have a deep appreciation for the absolute abundance of parks and walking trails that are packed into the Triad. We have been here 2.5 years now and even with seeing at least one new park a month we still have not made it through all of them. This is yet another one of those staggeringly beautiful places tucked away in Greensboro. This Arboretum is squeaky clean, not a scrap of litter to be found. It is manicured and maintained to a level that I find just truly amazing for such a large area. The path is long and winding through so many different themes and features include massive human sized wind chimes, a huge sun dial, both paved and wooded trails, the fanciest and nicest gazebo I have ever seen, a winding creek and even a free little library where my daughter found a gorgeous book of modern art. One could truly spend days here following each little trail to its end as they branch out like tendrils from the main paved walkway, such an incredibly deep and sprawling park this is. If you're looking for somewhere to stroll and take it nature at its most sculpted and beautiful, this is an excellent choice. Highly, highly impressed. read more

This is such a beautiful place to visit! It's an easy walk through the garden and there are so many beautiful flowers and sights to see. The butterfly area is so nice and peaceful. It's all just breathtaking and I'm so glad I went to see it. A nice bonus is that the parking lot is right near the entrance and there is no admission charge. Don't know what kind of event or happening took place here and at the adjacent park around the basketball court Fri or Sat, but there was trash scattered over a number of different areas - lots of water bottles, food containers, etc. And there are trash cans all over the area. A peaceful, free public garden! What a great use of land next to a highway and low income housing. For a cloudy, cold n drizzly morning, plenty of walkers to feel safe alone. Went for a walk through the Greensboro Arboretum while visiting my sister and nephew the last time we were in the area and we were a little early as not much was in bloom yet. Some of the trees were flowering and some of the flowers/shrubs were showing new shoots, and I can only imagine how gorgeous everything is in full bloom, especially the butterfly garden. Have you ever walked through a garden or arboretum that didn't have ll their plants labeled, and you wished you knew what something was so you could plant it at home? It's frustrating, but not here. There are many different plant collections, and all are labeled. On the odd occasion that something isn't labeled, the friendly staff is never far away so you can ask. There are also lots of volunteers that curate and maintain certain areas, keeping it lovely year-round! The Greensboro Arboretum is just a gem in the gardens of Greensboro. Adjacent to Lindley Park, it's a great place for walking or running, taking the family, or attending one of their events. They have "Art in the Arboretum" in the fall, and a Summer Solstice Festival that's really fun and funky. read more

I have been to the Arboretum a few times just to see the flowers and the views. When things are in bloom, it's breath-taking. I also like that different flowers bloom at different times, so there is always color. I participated in Glow in the Park (a 5K) here a few weeks ago. This was the perfect location to host the event. There's something magical about running through trees sporting glow sticks. They cast a magical light on the place. I came here yesterday for the Summer Solstice Festival. That was an interesting experience. It's a great event to people-watch, as the outfits are out of the ordinary. They brought in some delicious food trucks and had live music and dancing. The way the park is set up helps break it up into two areas, so multiple cultural sightings (dancing and music) can occur simultaneously, without overpowering one another. read more

Wow! We wanted to go to a downtown park in Greensboro but it was St Patrick's day and couldn't find parking. We decided to go to a park a little outside downtown and found this absolute gem! This park is the definition of peaceful! There is lots of path to walk, places to sit and relax, and educating signs to read about all the different trees and plants! We spent a lot of time just strolling through. We found it to be very romantic as well. I highly recommend this park to anyone in the Greensboro area! read more

Loved happening upon the Greensboro arboretum! Had no idea it was right in town, and happened to have an hour or so to kill. So I walked through the grounds and found a quiet little hidden bench to do some writing. I am in love with this place! I had my wedding here and they helped get everything set up including the chairs! We used the gazebo to do our vows and I walked in from behind some tall flowered bushes. We had several areas for photos because everything was in full bloom! The parking was easy to find and also close to where we had our ceremony. I love the bridges and flowered walkways as well as benches that gave easy props for photos. Next time I want to come for just a stroll to see everything more casually. I will definitely be back! One thing I noticed was the highway traffic wasn't loud at all even during the wedding which was great too! read more

This place was so enjoyable to walk through. The horticulture is amazing and I learned a lot about it while there and looking around. This park is really nice. It was relaxing and the meditation garden was very scenic. My son enjoyed the trails and they even have a small playground. All of the trail is shaded and the playground area is shaded as well. The park was very clean and had a wonderful aroma. It felt like I was far from the city. If I'm ever in the Greensboro area again I will visit visit this park. read more
