There were a couple of booths selling fruits and vegetables, one with some meat products, another couple selling baked goods, and one selling local honey. A nice way to support several local businesses in one stop. During our last visit, the Forest Hills Bluegrass Band was playing. Folksy style music was a perfet fit for the farmer's market. It really gave the market a lively yet relaxed vibe. It was not overly busy when we got there. As we were walking to our car around 10:30 am about ten new cars of people were coming. It's not fantastic but you can cover all of your bases. The honey man is just awesome and while the honey is pricey, we feel good supporting him. It's always a unique experience and I really enjoy eating on the farm with the fresh ingredients. This dock of a two stars because I think the events have gone down hill over the years and I wish they'd pick their game back up. For the price, it should be a 5 star experience and 5 star quality! My last one being the Farm dinner with Jason Louda in Sept 2018. This was a 1 star experience for me. Gotta say that it was an expensive and dissatisfying meal. I'm more than happy to donate to the farm and La Soupe, but I was hoping for a quality meal too. The food had very little protein and not much flavor. I was also surprised to hear that I was eating some of the recycled food from La Soupe (cool charity, but for a $250 meal - NO!). I'm not sure if I'm going to sign up for another Farm Dinner again. But beyond that they also have really good food items inside of their shop. The salad dressing we got has been one of our favorites in a long time. They have maple syrup and tons of fruit and lots of candy especially right now :-) I like to stop by here every week or so to just see what's going on and all of the staff are really nice people.

I walked in through the doors of the Church and found a smallish set-up with tables stocked with wares from various farmers and food producers. Fab Ferments was my first stop where I had utterly sublime Kimchi. Their juniper caraway saurkraut was super tasty too. I spoke with one of the two business partners of the fermented food operation and it was a pleasure to speak to the fellow who made the food I was enjoying so much. His affected hippiesque speaking style was appreciated, not overwhelming and lent authenticity to the experience. I was, after all, chowing down on rotting vegetables. But rotting in a truly remarkable way. Flute music was being played by another guy at a nearby table, and it seems that music is scheduled for proper marketing ambiance. The website lists some of the products to expect, but microgreens, honey, various root vegetables, gourmet cookies, spices and herbs, apples and other stuff I'm forgetting are there for your shopping convenience. This market is located by Lunken Airport and has a huge parking lot devoted primarily to the market. It is open Monday through Friday from around 2pm - 6pm and on Saturdays from 9am - 3pm. Right now there are a few nursery vendors there selling plants, but that's it! When the season really gets going there are going to be lots of vegetables, fruits, produce, organic made goods, and if we're lucky some local meats! Simmons Farm was just what we were looking for. We were looking for a quieter farm with u-pick…read morepumpkin, and a few activities. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Melissa Simmons. This included welcoming us to use one of their sanitizeed carts. After telling her this was our first visit to their farm, Melissa introduced herself, she then told us about the farm and the activities. Our first stop was the pumpkin patch. Melissa told us that if we were lucky we may still find blue pumpkins. These are "robin's egg blue Cinderella pumpkins." We carefully scoured the pumpkin patch for them to no avail. It looks like we were too late to find one. We did find some awesome orange and green pumpkins, orange pumpkins, a few white pumpkins, cushaw squash, and an assortment of small and large gourds. Activities are well spaced out. There are seasonal favorites such as a corn maze, hayrides and cutouts. Maps are available for the corn maze if guests are worried about getting lost. For 2020, hay rides are priced per person, with only one family in the wagon at a time. One unique activity is a giant trebuchet. Guests may pay to launch pumpkins from it. There is a play area with spaced out activities for younger children. Visitors are welcome to walk around the farm. They have sheep, chickens and rabbits. There is a creek behind the corn maze. Complimentary U-pick raspberries may be snacked on while visiting. Picnic tables are available to use. Prepackaged snacks are available for purchase. Some farm fresh goodies such as eggs and jam were also available for purchase.
