I decided to DIY my Hybrid battery install on my Camry. 1st timer. Looked through YouTube, went through a few videos, and I was off. Removed old hybrid battery, purchased battery online from Greentec, and picked it up at the San Dimas location. They called me and confirmed my vehicle VIN and mileage to ensure I ordered the correct battery. Then they scheduled an appointment with me to pick it up. I was able to avoid the $500.00 core charge with my online order because I brought my old battery directly to their shop for the exchange. Their receipt from my online order had their old address as the pickup location. I showed up at this address, and after about 5 minutes, I called them and they told me that that was their old location, and their new location was nearby. It was. Took about 5 minutes from where I was. Once I arrived at the right location, I was met by a couple of real cool guys, signed the receipt for my order, and they brought a cart out with the new battery, they loaded it and took my old battery away. Could not have asked for a better transaction. Smooth and fast, with some friendly banter in between. Quickly arrived home after the pickup and installed the battery, and nothing. Car wouldn't start, and I was still getting the Check Hybrid System error on the dash. Checked, and re-checked the connections and everything was as it should. I got a little concerned because I was thinking it was the battery. Called up Greentec. Told them my issue, and the guy I'd met earlier was very patient and friendly. Told me to unhook my 12v battery, because my car may not recognize the battery and is still showing a fault. He also told me to recheck the relay switch to ensure it was connected correctly. This switch turns the current off/on from the Hybrid battery making it safe to remove and power on when it is fully installed. You should still use a tester to make sure that there is not current still flowing throughout the battery since a damaged battery can still shock you with the relay removed. I didn't do this though. I know. Not smart, but I at least did the quick finger whip check, touch real quickly and snatched back, to see if I felt a shock when removing cables on the hot spots, positive/negative/ ground cables and surrounding metal pieces, on the battery. This was, my method only, and not a universal suggestion that you do this. I did have a voltage meter but was too lazy to go get it. Anyway, he also told me that if I had a code reader, I could clear the old code and it would probably work that way as well to get it running again, without removing the cables from the 12v battery. Even though he mentioned just to remove the positive, I just removed both +/- cables and let the battery sit for an hour. Once I reconnected the battery, it worked. The car had juice from the Hybrid battery. Before this, I kept checking and rechecking that the Hybrid battery relay switch was installed correctly. You know, sometimes despite checking and rechecking, you still don't get it right. How do I know? Well, the last I checked the relay switch, I knew it went in flush with the battery, but their is a part that disengaged when you remove the switch and it acts like a handle to remove it. When you re-install the relay switch this handle will engage as you push it in and raise itself flush with the switch. This time it went more flush than previous and slid over this little box on the left side of the battery terminal. Was this the problem all along? Anyway, who cares. Actually, if this was the whole issue, I'll just remain ignorant to that fact. The guy from Greentech, sorry I don't remember his name, also mentioned to check the relay switch again to make sure it is pushed in correctly. Of course I reassured him it was, but maybe it wasn't?... Doh! Anyway, I'm happy with the customer service and assistance that Greentech gave me, the battery has provided noticeably more power to the Camry, even compared to the old battery prior to the error code warning, and it comes with a 4-year unlimited mile warranty at a very reasonable price. I've had my Hybrid battery replaced two times prior, both came with 1 year 12,000 mile warranties, and combined did not last over 3 years (both were out of warranty when they went bad, of course) and their combined costs exceeded what I paid for my battery from Greentec. Greentec replaced the HV battery on my 2007 Prius with 167k miles. Overall I am very happy with the experience and would definitely use them again if my 2010 Prius battery happens to go out as well. This was my wife's car and despite the higher miles, it held a lot of sentimental value for her. Being the cheap husband I am, I didn't want to spend more than what the car was actually worth (Toyota quoted $3-4k for their replacement battery). I debated ordering the battery and installing myself but ultimately decided to use their mobile installation service ($350) just to minimize any potential warranty claim issues in the future. Their 24 month warranty battery ($1399 w/o taxes) seemed like the perfect way to go for our situation. The entire ordering and installation scheduling process was extremely easy taking only a couple of 5 minute phone calls. I requested the service on a Monday morning and their field technician was at my home installing the battery by Wednesday. I want to give huge shoutouts to Eduardo who performed the installation and Matt who initially took the order. Eduardo was incredibly patient explaining the installation process clearly and answered all of our questions before beginning the process. My wife could not say enough good things about him after he had left which is an incredible compliment as she's not one often to do that. While their quick response was appreciated, what I was more impressed by was their diligence investigating whether it was the HV battery at fault and not some other component in the hybrid system before placing my battery order and before beginning the installation. Matt took the time to ask questions about symptoms, vehicle codes and if I had happened to have taken it to a Toyota dealership for diagnosis (which I had). Eduardo actually ran diagnostics on his laptop which identified all of the vehicle codes present and what appeared to be the bad cells (blocks 4 & 5) in the hybrid pack. This definitely gave me confidence that it was in-fact the battery at issue and not the inverter or electric motor itself before actual installation. While time will tell about the durability of the replacement battery, the car drives perfectly without any codes or previous acceleration issues. And if in the unlikely situation that there is an issue the, 24 month warranty gives me peace of mind that the car will be around for at least another couple of years, hopefully much much longer. I'm glad they are available as an option to those of us who don't want to spend dealership prices for this service. read more

I was uneasy about replacing a hybrid battery, I have heard how expensive it can be and it looks like it would be complicated. Gus answered my request so quickly and assured me they check to make sure it is actually the battery, before installing. They came to my home and installed the battery right in my garage, all of the ominous warning lights and strange noises are gone. The engine is not always running anymore and the car is responsive like when it was new. BEST of all, the price was way better than I was expecting and since they came to my home to install.... Shortened summary of this review: bought their best battery for $3600. 5 warranties. wouldn't give refund they promised. they are a small operation but look big online. Poor after-sale customer service. GreenTec let us down by not taking care of us and our client after 5 warranty replacements, 3 of which resulted in her car shutting off on the freeway. Our experience with Greentec has been a very disheartening and frustrating one. They seemed very honest and they appear to have a great reputation and locations all over the US. We found out that most of that is just marketing. Firstly, I'd like to say that the technicians who came out to our facility to service the batteries were excellent, friendly, and very professional. Rene and the other gentleman who came out with him were all around awesome! I wish we could have them as employees at our facility. Our problems with the hybrid batteries themselves have been frustrating, especially when we are trying to keep our client happy and safe. We purchased their top battery with "Brand new cells" and have had 5 warranty issues (see attached photos for paperwork). The batteries we purchased were their highest quality and most expensive batteries as we were assured it would be a long-lasting solution for our clients. One of the vehicles had 4 warrantied batteries and 1 showed up "dead-on-arrival" Greentec appears to be a very big company with several locations that you can go to everywhere, but in reality, they only have a couple very small locations and every phone number you call ends up connecting you with the same few people. Almost every one of the "locations" they claim to have are small units or have no signage, which may not even be a real location. Google street view shows it best when you look up the physical address. 3 times, when the battery failed it caused the vehicle to shut off without warning while driving on the freeway, putting the client in an unsafe situation and is embarrassing for us as we supplied them with the battery. On warranty #2, Austin guaranteed us a full refund. When the battery failed and shut the vehicle off the 3rd time, we could not continue to put our client in a vehicle that was clearly unsafe using GreenTec's battery and we needed to refund our client and may have lost their trust in us. GreenTec tried tricking us with excuses as to why the battery failed to try to avoid giving us a full refund and offered us a $750 refund at first, not a full refund like we agreed on. We're hybrid vehicle experts and know batteries very well. The excuses they and Austin gave us made absolutely no sense. "well, these cars suck a lot of power" when the new battery failed after only a month. We had to argue, beg, and plead to get the guaranteed refund. After several weeks we got a partial refund but it was not the original $3600 we paid. We feel fortunate to have gotten a partial refund back but I wonder if we weren't familiar with how these cars work and this industry that we would have been refunded at all read more

Took my 2007 Honda hybrid there. Said would diagnose to see if battery or converter or something else. Just plugged in reader and got code and said battery. No true troubleshot. 2 months later actually getting worse gas mileage. About 28 city 33 hwy. occasional 38 hwy but rare. Called left messages no call back. Only thing is IMA light turns on off less than used too. Turned on twice then went away. read more

My 20150Highlander Hybrid would not start and I had it towed to Greentec Hybrid Repair in Sacramento. They scanned the system and determined that I had just run out of gas. As I expected sooner or later, my 15-year-old Prius' hybrid battery finally died. Triangle and numerous codes, came and went. I watched dozens of You Tube videos and called several third-party Hybrid battery companies. Two Toyota dealerships never returned my calls for a quote to replace. One gave me a cash and carry price of a basic new bare bones Toyota battery, no relays, bcm, cables... $3500 without installation. It included a one-year warranty. After much research I decided to go with Greentec. Ian was the salesperson I chatted, e-mailed and spoke with several times. He was very honest and complete in his answers to my many questions. I am in NW Michigan, so my Greentec dealership is in Troy, near Detroit. After committing, I received a call that night and Mike, a lead technician scheduled the replacement the very next day. It was a 5-hour drive for him one way. He was polite, clean, respectful and diagnosed and replaced my battery in less than an hour. I had ordered a battery with all new cells not remanufactured with some new and some old. The new battery has the cylindrical cells, still nickel metal hydride. Total cost was "significantly" less than the dealership and it came with a 48 month no bones warranty, including free installation of a replacement should I need it. I took it for a drive as soon as he left. Unexpected, I am getting better gas mileage. First day in and I am a happy Prius camper once again. read more
