First: It's oh-so quiet in this library. This is a nice place to just exist in silence. That said, this isn't your regular public library, with story times and such. This is a specialty library, and it's more like a repository for old things: old books, archives, vintage catalogues, genealogy information, local history and things like that. But they also have computers that you can use for free, and free wifi, and printers if you need to print something. I'm not from Indiana, so the ancestry records have nothing to do with me. But I think that's cool that if you grew up in Indiana, or have relatives from this state, that you might be able to find out some interesting information about yourself here. The people who work here look ready to help, but ultimately, they leave you the eff alone, which is nice. I got zero greetings, which is the exact number of greetings I wanted from a small, quiet library.

A drive up up book drop off is offered on the parking lot side. The library floor plan is on the smaller side, but still has many volumes including a Children's area. But this time, I really enjoyed that the section was completely separate, because it feels more free to be kid-like like there, as the other reviewer mentions. Also I was so happy to see the computer terminals in the kids section for searching for books. Kids can actually search by picture, if they can't yet read. So, for example, a kid can click on a picture of the sun, and then see pictures of the fronts of books about the sun. This is pretty awesome, and I have never seen anything like it before. Staff in the children's section were extremely helpful, and we got lots of pretty awesome books. The section is huge with a huge variety. I also enjoyed the adult section, and got a few books for myself too. Bathroom was very clean, and library was quiet.

Now, as an adult with a kiddo, I have a new appreciation for public libraries (not to mention my own love for reserving books on my card). The Union City Public Library has been around since 1905 in the heart of my hometown (Union City). The front lawn is shaded and prime for event activation although it is rarely used this way. The library itself is a Carnegie historic library with two floors. They offer bilingual story hours on Friday afternoons for kiddos 1 1/2 up to 5 years old. They also offer a summer reading program. The interior is on the dated side and a bit crowded -you could also call this old timey charm of a small town library. Can't wait to take my kiddo for the first time this coming Saturday.

I currently telecommute for work but working at home can be a little isolating. So I go to the library to work in a quiet environment that allows me to focus yet is open and bright(lots of windows). The furniture is comfortable, there is free WiFi, the librarians are pleasant and helpful, and as a town resident I can reserve a meeting room for times that I need to talk on the phone with my co-workers. I know that this is not the traditional use of the library but since we pay taxes to support it, as long as I don't disturb anyone else in the process, I feel perfectly good about it. I wrote my dissertation in a public library years ago and came to appreciate them not only for this sort of thing but as a continuing center of the community. They are a hive of activity that we should maintain. And for me, when I take breaks from work, I enjoy the magazines and books available to me. Support your local library!

The building is open and bright, with plenty of seating spread throughout the space and I had no trouble finding a table with power nearby so that I could settle in and send a few emails. It's the kind of place where you can get a lot done without feeling crowded and the overall atmosphere is calm in a way that makes focusing pretty easy. The only real bummer is the study room policy. They only allow library card holders (i.e., residents) to use them, which meant that I had to leave before my Zoom meeting so that I wasn't disturbing other patrons. I would have stayed longer otherwise, because everything else about the visit was great. My one complaint is that the events are so popular that you have to watch the website and sign up immediately when something comes up that you are interested in. There is a food box outside the library. Inside, snacks are always available for the young ones. I use the website to request books that aren't available in house and the process is smooth. The checkout and book return is up-to-date and easy to use. The library staff is helpful and friendly. I love the large magazine section. A lot of libraries I have been to in the past have stopped having magazines available. I'm old school and love to hold and read a magazine. There is ample comfortable seating.

The Heritage Center of Clark County is a local gem. The museum is well curated with many unique…read morethings to see. There's far more to see than what you might expect. When you go, sign in to the guest register and then head over to the greeter's desk. A greeter will take a couple of minutes to give you a little background about the building and how to best navigate the two floors of exhibits. The first floor was the more interesting of the two. There's plenty to look at, and it's presented very well. Be sure to walk all the way back to see the model recreation of the city streets of downtown Springfield during the 50s and 60s. The second floor isn't as full or as interesting but is worth the stairs or elevator ride up. Pro tip: Be sure to look up to the ceiling. There's almost as much to see up there and on the floor. No joke. Admission is a donation of your choice, but there's a suggested amount listed that is more than fair. If you are into history, go. It's one of Ohio's better history museums. A solid 5 stars.

We have gone every year for about 8 years I believe and although the decor doesn't change too much my grandkids are amazed each time. I grew up near this area and am happy to see as much of it preserved as possible. It's essentially free and no charge to take pictures with Santa. We leave a donation but it's optional and a lot of younger parents can appreciate they aren't charged outrageous amounts to see Santa. Also, this Santa is very authentic and believable for the kids. Really nice and very appreciated by my family each year.
