Nicole was such a pleasure to work with, from our initial phone conversations to meeting in person to design our wedding album. We were so fortunate to have Nicole and her team photograph our special day. Nicole, Karen, and Phoebe arrived promptly to our hotel and immediately went to work photographing our day. They were all incredibly professional, friendly, and organized. I have never met anyone that was as organized as Nicole. She really spends time planning everything out so that the day runs smoothly. Nicole and her crew also worked very well with our videographer. They complemented each other well. Not only is Nicole invested in quality photographs, but she is invested in getting to know the couple. Nicole called us several times before the wedding to talk about how we met and to share our story. We really appreciated this because not only did it allow Nicole to learn more about us, but she was somehow able to capture the essence of our relationship in her photographs. Nicole pays great attention to detail. She has extraordinary vision. You can tell she has a true talent for this. We joked with Nicole that we are awkward in photos, but Nicole eased our nerves and miraculously overcame our photo-awkwardness! We also want to thank Nicole for her patience with photographing our dogs, Dallas and Bradley, on our wedding day. They even brought a squeaky ball to get the attention of our pups during photoshoots (and even doggy bags for any stops along the way--superb service!). Nicole works with you and goes through a detailed plan on who you would like her to focus on whether it be friends, family, wedding party, etc. She is also open to all your ideas about the types of photographs you would like. When it was time to design our photo album, Nicole invited us to her studio to watch a slideshow of our photos on a projector. This was truly an experience, and it really brought back such wonderful memories. We designed a high-quality photo album and it is truly breathtaking. If you're looking for hum-drum, definitely don't pick her. Tara did a portrait shoot with me and my wife which I needed for my professional profile. She picked the location, gave us some tips on what to wear, and put us at ease about the process before we even showed up. But Tara in person was even better. She made us laugh and relax and forget, in the best way, that we were having our photos taken. We had a great time, laughed a lot, and all the while she was capturing all sorts of hidden gems. And that's probably what sets Tara apart. Granted, I haven't ever had a professional portrait shot before, but what she captured from our time together was something I couldn't have anticipated. I feel like she captured my "best self" on the camera. I was thrilled with the results and I use the photos she took of me on all my most important profession online profiles. And I feel proud of it. I know that might sound a little weird. Since I rarely feel really great about photos of myself. But she really delivered the goods. And the best part was that I had many options to choose from. She gives you a whole gallery of photos from which you can choose the ones you like best. Then she does subtle touching up to bring it all to another level. I couldn't be happier with the end product. In fact, the whole process, which I imagined would be kind of awkward and painful, turned out to be fun and enjoyable. Personally, I think It's natural to be on the fence about something like a portrait. You're not sure if it's really worth the money, time, and effort. So maybe like you, I was on the fence with it for a while. But let me say now, if you are on the fence like I was, jump off. Tara will deliver the goods. Why, because every time I look online and see the picture of myself that she took, I feel great about it. I don't feel ambivalent at all. In my opinion, that's the kind of confidence and satisfaction that's worth the money. Because think about it, we all judge each other on first appearances. It's human nature. A few months after booking her, she shot our engagement photos in the South End where we live and we were OBSESSED with them. It wasn't at all pose-y or awkward like I thought it would be. She made us feel completely comfortable and embraced our awkward (and our pics look anything but awkward). Fast forward to our wedding this past July in Gloucester. The day started out perfectly sunny but quickly turned to black skies and rain. We went forward with out outdoor ceremony and I couldn't have been happier with how Katie handled the whole weather situation. To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed in my wedding photos. They're artistic and there are a lot of candids of wedding guests (like we wanted) but there are pretty much no good pictures of my husband and I where you can actually see both of our faces clearly, with no heads cut off (she cut his head off in 90% of the photos and he's not abnormally tall or anything). We decided recently to maybe frame a few of our wedding photos since we spent all that $ and when we were looking for options, we realized we had none. If I looked great in one, his head was cut off. If he looked great in one, I was sort of blurred out and fuzzy (intentionally I guess). Like I said, they're creative. But there are basically NONE that captured us looking terrific on our wedding day. Terrific scenery, terrific flowers, pretty cupcakes, nice shots of my dress or me having makeup applied, cute flower girl shots, some distant full length shots of us, a nice picture of me dancing with my dad etc. But not one good , close-up picture of me and my husband together. it makes me sad.
