After nearly two weeks I had to call to see if my guitar was ready. After the repair the guitar looked just like it did before I brought it in for repair. The cracks were not fixed. All he did was glue wood stock blocks to the underside for $280. My guitar was still under warranty from Gibson. I contacted them and they made mention of a shoddy repair. Fortunately this repair shop was an authorized repair shop by Gibson. Gibson replaced my guitar with a brand new one of the same model with hang tags still on it and Gibson factory polished and plecked. Thank you Gibson. Booo to this so called repair shop. BEWARE !!!

I've always wanted a candy apple red Strat. The electronics were terrible, the nut was plastic, the action was way too high and the intonation was terrible, and the pickups were underpowered (they were crap, actually), but I knew from past experience that I could count on Domenic at Third Floor Guitars to turn it into a quality instrument. Once again, he didn't disappoint. He replaced the plastic nut with a Tusq nut, swapped out the pots with 3 CTS 250k pots, replaced the switch with a genuine Fender 5-way switch, replaced the jack with a Switchcraft jack, installed an Orange Drop 022 cap, and installed 3 genuine vintage1990s MIM Fender ceramic magnet pickups - and of course, a full setup. I played it tonight at my band's practive and everyone (including me) was amazed at how awesome it sounded. Honestly, it sounded as good as my 1978 Strat - maybe even better!

His pricing was more than fair, the turn around time was less than 2 weeks, and he even restrung and ensured the overall structure of the instrument was in good shape. He discussed the problem with the bridge with me at length, and stated that if the quote would be exceeded, he would call (the actual price fell well below the top quote value). Before, he also helped with a similar bridge replacement on my Japanese Jackson SL3 and replaced all pick-ups with a new set. The work he does is amazing. When I leave my guitar with him, I know I'm going to get great service. But what I most appreciate is the communication. He always contacts me to let me know what's happening and if he runs into an issue, he'll always come to you with alternatives so you can choose what you want to do. I looked and bought it. It was late at night. I paid for it and was told to come back Monday. He needed time to change the strings before he let it leave his shop. Monday turned into Next week. Stop by again and he tells me it's not ready yet. Came by to pick up the guitar after two weeks of waiting to replace the strings. To my amazement it's now missing two knobs. He said he would order it from Charvel. Take the guitar home he never changed the strings. 8 weeks later no contact from Ed telling me the knobs are in. After exchanging nasty text messages I drove up to Danvers at Guitar Center and they hooked me up on the spot with aftermarket knobs. 1st impressions of Eddy. He comes across as a very nice guy. Personable, shared some good stories. As it turned out we knew some of the same people.....after reading reviews here the results are the same. I understand he is on his own and overwhelmed. I get that. I am in the Plumbing Business and get overwhelmed sometimes. Only Ed knows why he does what he does to some of his customers. I wish him all the success but I know I will not be back.
