Oh yeah... there's a 1% kitchen staff fee, and a 2% "restaurant impact service charge", and another Edgewater Improvement Fee. They don't mention that until you see the bill. We came. We tried. Had the chicken avacado tri layered sandwich and it was bomb! It was kinda loud and aggravating with some people screaming to the game on the tv in the late evening, as we where trying to think upon the menu and order food before the kitchen had to close, but once they stopped and we got our meals it was a decent experience! However, with the lone bartender manning 2 bars, we never got side plates or napkins. Just saucy messy wings. I went on a side plate quest. Checking server stations, trying to find a server. An assertive one recognized my hunt. "Restrooms are on the left." "Actually, was hoping I could-" "Sir, we're a little busy right now and I can't serve you. You need to wait." And with that the struggling server in sparkling blue glitter set off to put out fires. Horrified, I returned to the bar. No plates. No napkins, and I was apparently grounded. Watched a server fill a water bottle with the bar gun inside the nozzle, dirty fingers firmly wrapped around the lip. Immediately after, I witnessed 2 servers scoop ice with THE ACTUAL GLASSES, so, after a shard slices up a few patrons internally, this venture should be dead on arrival. It's a shame. The demographic of JP and LoHi have a reputation of loving all things shiny and new (Avanti, Happy Camper, etc, etc), but sadly, while the concept and product are actually quite good, the execution, training, professionalism and front of house performance more than cancel out the good intentions and vision. I went out and spent hard earned money and was yelled at whilst trying to solve a problem created by staff incompetence. Will not return. Enjoy Jeffersonians. Solid truck stop dive bar manners in a shiny new toy...Til the next business inevitably takes a shot at trying to make that cursed location thrive. Being physically shoved by staff is another. A few minutes later I approached her and said, "I know it's busy, but you can't just plow through people--just ask us to move." Instead of acknowledging it, she argued with me. A little later the manager, Chris, came over and immediately accused me of making her cry, told me not to speak to his staff again, and basically said I could leave and never come back. He never once asked what happened or wanted to hear my side. I've worked in restaurants and bars for over 10 years, so I understand how hectic these environments can get. Being busy doesn't excuse forcefully shoving customers or treating them like they're the problem. The food has also been mediocre every time we've eaten here, so there's really nothing bringing us back. There are plenty of better bars in Denver with better food--and staff who know how to treat their customers.
