The adorable patio was the draw for me and my cousin on this gorgeous evening. Our server was a 10/10 and I wish I could remember her name (she had a delicate chain across her nose). She was super helpful with recommendations and gifted with patron engagement. I also appreciated her guidance to a cocktail that wasn't too sweet (a tequila concoction with jalapenos). I had salmon with grilled asparagus and coconut rice. Salmon was cooked to perfection and topped with an excellent chili glaze. Asparagus was well prepared but could have used a more flavorful seasoning with the char. The rice was nice, but the coconut was too subtle for my preference. I would go as far as to say this is in my top 3 meals out of 2024. Not only is the ambiance of this place absolutely perfect, and you'll feel like you're in a hallmark movie, the food and service is top notch. I had the Brie appetizer that was sooo yummy! And came out perfectly warm! Next up I decided to have the stroganoff, as I was craving comfort food and growing up grannies stroganoff was always a fave of mine. Well, the west 29th version was delicious, and just as good as grandmas(don't tell her though). I also have the chocolate mousse dessert and it was spectacular. Ok, I'm not rating any lower because the food was great and we got a great deal (happy hour prices can't be beat). But man, this place needs a bit of a vibe check, particularly the bar area. The potential is there - great cozy space, friendly bartenders and servers, yummy food + drinks. But the piano music and cooking shows on the TVs ain't it. We would have stayed longer and bought more drinks but it felt like the atmosphere was targeted to the 70+ crowd and we were falling asleep. If they were to turn on some bluegrass or folk music and have sports on the tv (or really anything else) we'd be there every weekend. Even just in the bar - if the want the rest of the place to read more "sophisticated" then I get it. It's a great neighborhood spot but possibly due for a revamp. read more

We came here for an early Mother's Day dinner the Friday before for a 6:45pm reservation. We were promptly sat, however it took about 15 minutes for anyone to stop at the table. We had to inform the hostess. The drinks took a very long time and we then ordered food. Thankfully the appetizer came out timely because it took over about 1 hour and 45 minutes for our entrees to arrive. We saw about 3 other tables who ordered after us get their food sooner. The manager stopped by to apologize saying they were very busy, however that didn't explain the sequence of when we received our orders compared to those in the same section. The food was pretty good overall even though my steak and sides were lukewarm by the time I got them. My family didn't have the same issue. We didn't complain about the temp due to not wanting to take even more time. We did express our concerns and they offered 25% off the entrees but that was only about $26 off the total tab for drinks, appetizer, and 4 entrees. It is a cute restaurant so I am disappointed that the service was not that great and the fact that we brought my mother in law here while she was in town expecting a positive experience. We will not be returning or recommending this place to friends and family and hope that they are able to make improvements. read more

This was our fourth trip to West 29th over the past 5-6 years - always had great experiences/food. Tonight we went for a date night anticipating another great meal. The Mushroom aranchini appetizer was tasty, and our cocktails (LemonBerry Rose and Moscow Mule) were boozy and delightful. We ordered dinner (Rigatoni Bolognese and Grilled Pork Chop - medium) which soon arrived. My wife's meal arrived cooked to perfection - she was happy! However, my pork chop was delivered very Well Done and basically inedible. I tried to find a tender piece or two of the chop around the edges and along the bone to no avail. It was cooked until no moisture was left. I ate what I could of the mashed potatoes and veggies, but my disappointment in the entree was firm. Our server came by to check on us after 20 minutes or so, and expressed my disappointment in the pork chop. She apologized and said that she would inform the chef of the situation. I was facing the open kitchen, and never saw her talk to the chef. After another 20 minutes or so, she brought our check without any mention of my concern. I then watched her engage in two 5+ minute discussions with other diners. The bus-person stopped by and delivered a box for the Bolognese). We waited another 5+ minutes before our server picked up and processed the check. She finally returned the processed check, and said "Goodnight, Sorry about the Pork Chop". I checked the bill and saw that she had comped one of our cocktails ($13)... So my inedible $30 Pork Chop is supposed to be offset by less than a 50% discount?!? In my mind, she should have followed through by talking to the Chef. He then could have come by the table to apologize and perhaps offer some sort of compensation. Instead, the server decided that a $13 discount would suffice, and that we would be back despite the experience. I can with certainty say that my wife and I will not be back. I'm guessing that this was either a case of an inexperienced server, or a failure of training in how to accommodate diners in a fine(r) restaurant. read more

This was a special first Valentine's Day with my partner because he decided to take me to West 29th--one of his favorite restaurants. Overall, it was a fun experience and lovely $100 per couple menu. Service was weird, though. Called to say we'd be a little late. On the first attempt, I got the annoying dial-up modem noise. On the second attempt, someone picked up then hung up on me. On the third attempt, the host who picked up the phone was curt and borderline rude. When I mentioned this to my partner, he said he's never been impressed by their customer service. Disappointing, but that made me more excited for the food, which turned out to be fabulous. I had the Beet Ravioli, NY Strip, and Valentine Cake. All were beautifully presented and delicious, paired perfectly with their Malbec. Would get any of those dishes again, and I'd actually love to come back and try more items on their regular menu... especially the Gorgonzola Stroganoff! read more

Been to West 29th twice now. Both times my husband and I sat in the bar area as that's what we prefer. Cozy and quiet restaurant. The server in the bar area was also bartending and was very kind, tentative, and gave very helpful recommendations on food and cocktails. I ended up ordering two tequila drinks not on the menu based on my conversation with her on what I liked. Really delicious drinks, would come back and order. Food was delicious, we enjoyed our entrees, and the beet ravioli appetizer was amazing. Look forward to coming back. read more

Such an adorable spot with great patios! We made a reservation here for a small family celebration in the neighborhood where our son lives. We got seated right away and even though I was hoping to sit outside the others in the party wanted the AC on a hot evening. It was perfectly cool without being freezing. We order a bottle of wine to share and the prosciutto Brie flatbread. Both were delicious. For dinner I ordered the Gorgonzola Stroganoff with mushrooms. Unfortunately this was a bit disappointing. While the flavor was amazing, the noodles were stuck together and it was very dry. 2 people in our party ordered the Tenderloin and asked for medium rare. The flavor was savory and even though it was medium rather than medium rare, they were able to enjoy the meal. The garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty. The best dish or our order was the salmon. It was tender and flaky and cooked as ordered. The Shoshito Risotto that it came on was very balanced and fresh tasting. This dish is fire! For dessert we shared my favorite, vanilla bean crème brûlée and it was creamy with perfectly caramelized sugar on top. I would definitely give this adorable and cozy place another try. read more

This place is an edgewater/wheat ridge staple. Been coming here for years! The main bar when you walk in is very inviting and we rarely have to wait to be seated, yet it's always packed! Upbeat and lively place for either a date night, family get together or even a solo dinner. I had dinner with my sister and brother in-law. Service was prompt. We got seated as soon as we walked in. The drinks were great. not overly strong and they weren't trying to be cheap either. Our waitress was very sweet and listened to us. My sirloin was cooked medium rare and was reasoned well. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce. My sister ordered the chicken pasta. She ate that really quickly. I love the vibe of this place--bar area right when you walk in if you want relaxed, dining room which is a bit more upscale, or a well lit patio area if it's nice. Our waiter was super nice! Not overly attentive but checked in when needed. Their bottles of wine are so well priced and the Rioja was delicious! We got the mussels as an appetizer and I would highly suggest to get something else. I love mussels and was very disappointed in the sauce (not flavorful) and mussels themselves. However, we both LOVED our main courses. We were a little nervous the Gorgonzola would be overpowering but it blended so well. Sat at the bar on Friday night and had a great experience. Thomas, the bar tender, was excellent. Happy hour was a good deal ($30 bottle of wines, discounted beers and apps). My friend suggested this place because they have a beautiful outdoor patio. And that's true! It's a really pleasant setting for a quiet meal. Once again I ordered wrong. I was more in the mood to drink, than eat. I ordered the wedge salad which came with a spicy ranch dressing. It was a pretty small salad, just two small pieces of iceberg and some dressing. All in all, we had a great time catching up over a couple of glasses of wine (which is what I came for) but it was one of the most expensive salads I think I've ever had! I shared the ravioli appetizer with my friend. $47 bucks for the salad, two glasses of wine, and a ravioli. Holy ravioli, batman! However, with that said, I will definitely return for the cozy setting and will pay more attention to what I order. The server was attentive but didn't bug us, which I appreciated it. read more

I've been driving by West 29th Restaurant for a few months and always thought it looked so welcoming with the patio and lights. Well the time came and I finally made a reservation. Why didn't I try this place before? This is a hidden gem of a bistro restaurant with great food, a solid wine list, excellent service and welcoming ambiance. When I told our server, Amy, that we were recent transplants to the area, she made sure we were taken care of. She provided her recommendations of her favorite items -- glad we listened. The striped bass was buttery, savory, succulent and absolutely delicious. The shrimp and grits were a fun take, shrimp stuffed inside a grit patty and deep fried. The sauces were spectacular and made the dish. Homemade (in house) pasta delicious. Affordable wine list, both by the glass and bottle. Easy parking in their lot. We will be back -- this was really good food, in a welcoming, relatively quiet setting. Can't wait to try the outdoor patio when it warms up a bit. read more

We've eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years, and it's always been delicious. We've always enjoyed the "dining" experience: apps, salad, entrees, followed by dessert. Last night, we just wanted a burger, not fast food, a good, comforting burger. So many venues tout their burgers as the best, and there are many reviews of someone's opinion of the best burgers. I am a burger snob, and very few places have a truly great burger. We ended up ordering burgers from 29th, and OMG, what a pleasant surprise! I will say, because my opinion is as valid as any food critic's is, 29th, without a doubt has the best burger in the entire metro area. I honestly believe that they grind their own ground beef. I am not certain, but it is definitely that great. I asked for the bacon onion jam on the side. And just to add to the whole magical experience, it actually comes with fries, and all for $17. Honestly, you can hardly get a fast food burger and fries anywhere for $17. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

My experience was a 3 at best, we ordered 1 pork chop and 2 of their Hamburgers, the pork chops were good according the person who ate it. But they mixed up the burgers. I ordered mine medium and the other two guests with me ordered one well done to split, they really enjoyed theirs as it was medium and they said it was delicious I ended up with the well done burger and ate barely more than half, service was good and they wanted to replace my meal but I didn't want to wait an hour for another burger. As far as Ambience this place was pretty cool. I like the restaurant itself. I'm going to go back and try the pork chop or maybe the special they may be running for the day. And apparently the strawberry whiskey sour is really good according to my friend so I recommend you try this place and just remember sometimes you should listen to the recommendation of the server. This is a quality establishment that serves outrageously simple and tasty dishes. The sirloin was perfectly cooked, paired with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed carrot/green bean mix. The dessert of West 29th chocolate and key lime pie are superb. Best test is a very simple meal prepared to perfection. Service was professional without being intrusive. The place is spotlessly clean and the separation of the bar and dining areas (inside and outside) helps keep a quiet dinner quiet. Definitely put West 29th on your list. We usually head back East to be with family but couldn't make it back this year, so it was important for us to find a restaurant that felt warm, cozy, inviting, and of course had good food. Let me tell you, it was difficult to find "cozy" in Denver, but we finally did!! Unfortunately, we were too late to get a table in the main dining room, but the bar area was just as enjoyable. I would also like to note that there were some shockingly rude patrons that evening, just being terrible to the wait staff. I hate to see this, but especially on Christmas Eve?? Went here tonight for the first time and loved it. We split the Creamy Chicken Pasta and the calamari. I loved that the calamari had jalapeños and banana peppers. That was unique and it was so good! They were able to split the entree portions and still presented them really nicely. Overall, the prices were good for a higher end restaurant. The space is so so cozy with the fireplace! I generally refrain from sending food back, but this time, they left me no other option. We had to return three out of six dishes. Throughout the meal, we never received a refill on water until we asked for more when the check was being brought and we weren't asked if we wanted another round of drinks, (which was fine considering the food was so off). The server forgot to put in an order for the birthday boy (my 70 year old father), and when it finally arrived, he had to send it back. There were like 15 people in the whole place, but service took forever, both food and drinks. I don't understand it. If you like your steak cooked to order, think again--it comes out raw or rare regardless of your request. And if you love garlic, be warned: they throw in a bunch of raw garlic after cooking, overpowering every dish. I LOVE garlic, so believe me when I say, it's just too much. When I asked if there was raw garlic in the mashed potatoes, the server confirmed that raw garlic is added to every garlic dish. It takes just 30 seconds to cook garlic, so this was baffling. The chicken was overcooked and burnt black around the edges and the fries were undercooked and severely overseasoned. Think of the way your tongue feels after eating 20 or ao salt and vinegar chips. We're not picky, we don't send food back hardly ever and We've celebrated birthdays here for the past five years, but this will be our last visit. Such a disappointing experience. read more
