Cannot believe I have missed out on this place all of my life. It kept showing up on my radar, however the one thing holding me back is my fears that it would be more of a sportsball environ than I prefer ie: incessant loud sportsball noises. However I was pleasantly surprised that while there were strategically placed sportsball screens I was not deterred from a 2nd visit. As for the background music, might as well have come from my own playlists. My great dream is to one day come here for prime rib on a Friday or Saturday. On my two visits, my partner and I ordered the French dip twice (which is made with the prime rib). We inhaled those before we had time to take a picture. First off - its great that they allow you to do a split order in case you are between a few things. 2nd off - this app was bomb. Both were fried to perfection & perfectly spiced. The fried okra was actually our fave item. Entrees: Fried chicken: Their fried chicken is so solid. Like their fried apps - they know what they are doing. Juicy on the inside crispy on the outside. Can't go wrong here. Meatloaf: Overall solid and wrapped in bacon. Nothing to blow you away but still quite tasty. Sides: I love me some good sides, and they had a few here. My friend wants to support local businesses and so I found myself here. It's got that old downtown brewery kind of vibe and you can be comfortable either inside or out. The wait staff makes you fee at home too, like you're a frequent visitor in a small town. Grub wise, it's got the classic stuff like fresh oysters and prime rib with baked potato and horseradish. Fresh, chilled, and a great deal. We also ordered the fish taco and steak sliders. The fish taco was tasty and well balanced, while the steak sliders were fine but didn't quite stand out. They were a bit light on the meat and fairly simple compared to the rest of the food. Service was pleasant and efficient. Sloan's Bar & Grill has been a neighborhood staple for 21 years, and after their recent renovation and menu refresh, they're better than ever. The fried chicken is the star -- crispy skin, juicy meat, and the biscuit with honey butter is a must. I also tried the green chile deviled eggs, French onion soup, and the berry biscuit bread pudding (which was a weekly special), and everything was delicious. Their cocktail program is great too -- the coin-style margarita with a tajín rim was excellent, and the Phony Negroni (non-alcoholic) was a fun surprise. What I really appreciate is that they kept their old favorites while adding new ones. You'll still find $2 oysters during brunch and happy hour, $1.45 wings + trivia on Wednesdays, and weekend brunch from 10am-2pm. It did feel just a little understaffed during our visit, so service was slower than expected, but the food definitely made up for it. We ordered the spicy grilled turkey and the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with a side of garlic broccolini. Both were flavorful, well-cooked, and hit the spot. The kids' burgers were simple and satisfying plus they came with sundaes, which is always a win when dining with little ones. It's been a while since I've been back to this establishment. When I first opened, their food was really good along with the live music. It was always busy, but they seem to get you in ASAP. A couple weeks ago was not the same. Not sure if they have new owners or because there's a new brewery across the street. My buddy and I ordered different things and it was not good. This is a fun spot with a big but not overwhelming menu. It's street parking, but I have always easily found a spot. The inside is comfortable and invites you to relax, just like the staff does. A Bloody Mary bar?!!?!? Yupppp! Just when you thought this place couldn't get better, they roll out a BUILD YOUR OWN Bloody Mary bar on the weekends!!! They had every ingredient you could possibly imagine: banana peppers, horseradish, peppercinis, olives, pickle juice, jalapeño juice etc. Donut holes, breakfast Samich and waffles???? My girlfriend and I visited Sloan's to watch a football game and take advantage of a BOGO entree deal. Upon walking in, the first thought that popped in my mind was "wow, what a clean place!". Everything in there looked immaculate including the bathrooms which is something I definitely look out for when eating somewhere. The food and drinks were all amazing! I had the spicy reuben and wished it had a bit more spice to it but I enjoyed it overall. The fries were fresh and tasty too! We shared some oysters as well as we came in during happy hour and enjoyed them as well. My favorite was the nachos. I was super full from the reuben but had to power through because the nachos were so good. The cocktails were tasty and well-made! Donovan was our server and he definitely made our experience stand out. He was very personable and it felt like hanging out with a friend. My girlfriends and I were going to see a play at the Wheatridge Theater close by and picked this place to have brunch before hand. I like their seating. We got a large booth in the middle that was comfortable for all of us to be seated within sitting on each other. Our server was awesome. her name was Sarah and she was super sweet and helpful with suggested on food and cocktails. She was quick and always available if needed. They let you get lunch or breakfast which is awesome and worked well for our crew. I got the cheeseburger with fries and my burger was cooked perfectly and was dripping and messy, just the way I like it. They have a full bar with some fun cocktails. Love the espresso martini! If I'm being honest, they could have seasoned a tad bit more but were still really good. The highlight of my meal was the Cole slaw. I don't like Cole slaw but this tasted really good. LOTS of hit or misses here. Loved the service because she was so friendly and funny. We came here in the past and I don't remember if I enjoyed my entree but I do remember enjoying the quesadilla appetizer. Last night we came again and we ordered the egg rolls which was so tasty like a gas station taquito but a better version of it. I wasn't a fan of my entree though. The fish of the week sounded good but it tasted burnt and overly salty at the same time. The Mac and cheese had to be drenched with tabasco sauce to have any flavor. My side salad tasted fresh though! My fiancés Reuben was great. Very tasty. His fries were good too. Like I said, lots of hit or misses. Another 5 star rating. I met a friend for a very somber and serious conversation, and somehow McKinsey still made the visit perfect. I finally ordered what I have been wondering about every time I go there...the JCB burger. It was fantastic and then some. Spacious bar, energetic music, very tight staff by visibility, and solid rating on the food. They have the Ratio Antidote if you like IPA. I ordered the side fries with their buffalo wing sauce and they were amazing. So, I will rave about the JCB for this visit, but I really haven't had anything that was below awesome here. Love the environment, love the staff, love the vibe. What is ironic is that my OTHER picture is the JCB...Benedict. So, apparently, just order the JCB whatever. I came here with a group of 8 at lunchtime on a weekday. We were seated right away and had our drink orders taken within 5 minutes which was great. The menu has a nice variety, something to please everyone's tastes. The prices have significantly increased over the last year though; we were surprised to see a classic Rueben for $20. It took about 15 minutes from being seated to receive our drinks from the bar, and 10 minutes after that to place our order. After placing our order, the food took about a half hour which really isn't bad considering our group size. The fries were tasty. I liked my chicken sandwich but the batter was a little dark and inside pretty dry for my liking. A few others in my party expressed concern for the dark coloring of their fried food. Overall we were surprised at the price increases of nearly every item on their menu, but the food was pretty good and you can't beat no wait. read more

The first couple times I went to Sloans bar and Grill, it was fantastic. The steak frites and New York sour cocktail were both reasonably priced and top-notch. The most recent time my husband and I went they had removed both from the menu. I get it, menus change. We both had the fish and chips, which was good. I would say the service was okay. My only irritation was when I asked for that cocktail they said it had been removed from their menu so they couldn't make it. It's whiskey and red wine... you have a bar, right? Not a big deal and everything was still good, but I doubt we'll be back. read more

I had dinner here with my family last night and while there are some cool things about Sloan's, it's not the food. Let's start with the good. They have good food and drink specials for happy hour, nightly (daily?) food and drink specials, and different kinds of entertainment every night. Last night it was Rock n Roll Bingo, but they also have trivia and live music. The bar/ restaurant is really lovely- a painted pressed tin ceiling, wooden booths, and a very classic looking (and well stocked) bar. We were greeted promptly and we're able to get a table quickly. They had crayons and a color-able kids menu for my son, as well as both high chairs and booster seats. They also do a free kids meal on Tuesdays with the purchase of an adult meal. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich and didn't love it. It was dark meat (he prefers white, but that happens) and he didn't care for the breading and thought that it was a really small piece of chicken. He said he thought whoever made it must of thought so too since there was a random pickle sized piece of chicken on top. When the food runner brought our food he at first announced my chicken tenders and fries as fish and chips, and explained that they look so much alike they use different colored plate liners to help staff differentiate. So they were in fact chicken not fish, but they were rough. They were breaded in something that resembled a very dark corn dog and I really wish I would have ordered just about anything else. We didn't see our server for awhile and as we were dining with a 2 year old (or ticking time bomb, as they're sometimes known) I ate as much as I could, cutting off as much breading as possible. The best part of my meal was the side of coleslaw it came with, which was exceptionally good coleslaw. My husband ordered us an ice cream sundae for dessert and it was a pretty good bar sundae. While we'd absolutely go back to drink, I'm not sure we'll be back for dinner again. read more

What a phenomenal hidden gem! A tiny bit pricey, but so is life, ya know!? My wife and I did a double date here a few months back and had a BLAST! Their mock tails are delicious and served up in a very cool retro cocktail shaker (which was great for us, as we were pregnant weren't telling anyone at the time). Their steak Sammie is delicious (they ask how you want your steak cooked, and get it right every time). Don't sleep on their onion rings or their happy hour beef nachos and sliders. Although the sliders are tiny, MAaaaan are they good. Our most recent visit was a few days ago because we had an in the area. They knocked it out of the park again, but sadly no pictures were taken. Torn between 3 or 4 stars. Ultimately the food was really good and had big portions for the price. I had the shrooms and Swiss burger with a black bean patty and onion rings. The blackbean party was tasty and crispy. The caramelized onions were flavorful. The onion rings were a generous portion and yummy. My boyfriend enjoyed his clubhouse club, and he even took half home it was such a big sandwich! The star docking is due to: a long wait to even order drinks, then waiting for drinks, then waiting for the server to come back with waters we had to request, and then ordering. Hidden Gem Down a neighborhood street is this popular restaurant. It's a locals place. Very friendly staff who were great servers. All the items we tried were delicious. The steamed artichoke was done right and tasty. A bad artichoke is just terrible but this one was fabulous. We tried some of the sandwiches. Also interesting combination and presentation.
