I never found my way to Greta in my younger years until YELP, thank you YELP. Recently, one of my clubs had a season ender and we decided on Greta. We had them do a self serve taco station (pork barbacoa and vegetarian version), soft taco shells, two types of pickles and lettuce wraps. Both version with its fixings were done beautifully. Bar/restaurant and arcade by Gastown. Parking here is pretty awful. The place is basically a pub with a dance floor and a bunch of arcade machines. Most games are pretty modern (under 10 years). Even the pinball machines had colour screens. The machines use a credit system which makes it easy to just tap and enjoy. No more fumbling for change or tokens. Kids have it easy these days. There is also a points (loyalty) system in place. In theory it is possible to rack up enough points for prizes or swag, but it takes quite a bit of playing. In other words, don't count on too much in this department. I've had the food here before and it's pretty decent overall. Something to do if one is in the area. read more

Super fun place to go. Food is all right, but great place to go on a date or have a birthday party. I like to come Sunday during the day because there's no one there so you don't have to wait for any games and it's super cheap. Only five dollars an hour for unlimited play!! Greta is like a smaller version of a bar in san jose (mini boss). IYKYK!! Their food is decent. Got their big mac fries (half plate) and the price was $8 CAD. Not bad! My friend got their poutine and the other one got their poke entree. Both said it was good! However, I feel like the drinks here are very weak. I asked my server what was popular here and she recommended the raspberry one. When it came it tasted straight up like juice. I got it remade and it came with a little less ice this time and it was the same. I decided to change the drink to an espresso martini instead. Im not sure if Canada drinks tend to be weaker than the States? But I wouldn't order drinks here. Food is good though! This is an arcade bar, and I really wanted to take a photo with my friends at the photobooth. But it was out of service. Bathrooms are nicely decorated and have seperate stalls which is cool. GRETA is a really fun place to hang! I love their assortment of games and how reasonable their pricing is during their happy hour times. An amazing place to play arcade games, from old to new. My favourites are basketball and Mario Kart. I ordered their birria tacos and pizza taquitos during happy hour. The birria tacos were really hitting the spot for me -- very flavourful. The pizza taquitos were good too, but not my favourite. The sauce it came with was really tangy and delicious though. I was too excited to play games that I forgot to take pictures of my food! I was here for a friend's birthday party and ended up leaving early before I could try any of the games. It looked like a fun arcade but I didn't really get a good look. But I had a good experience with them as a bar. The only negative was that they seated us at two tables that did not have enough seats for the size of the reservation. Our server was very friendly and fun, and the food and drink was good - I got the snack size poke bowl, which is called a side on the menu but was big enough for a light meal for me. It wasn't anything super special, but the sauce was tasty and the fish and veggies were fresh. The menu is lacking in vegetarian choices. The Impossible Burger is the only vegan or vegetarian meal. I got the "re-fashioned" cocktail to drink, which was strong and aromatic. The birthday experience that my friend got was fun. They brought out a light-up sign with a fishbowl cocktail and dessert. The birthday girl did not share the cocktail but we did share the dessert, a delicious cookies and cream trifle concoction. It's one of the new trending place to hang out with a group of friends. You can have some drinks and food while play some awesome arcade games. The place is spacious, clean, and has a retro yet 80s ambiance. The staff are super friendly, and personable. Some of them chose to dress 80s styles, which created a flash back feeling. They have happy hours which you can join some coworkers after work, with a full bar of a variety of drink selection. Their dinner menu is simple with some appetizers and mains. The selection is a better than just bar food. When it comes to games, you can buy a card to load up the credits. Most of the games are 6-8 credits per play. $20 would give you a plenty loads on a few games. This could be a great team building place to bring your coworkers on a year end event. The only downside would be limited parking space on a busy street. But it's also located near the Waterfront skytrain station. I was so excited to try the hyped up Greta Bar. I believe this used to be the Bourbon or Yale Saloon. I was meeting a few friends, 2 of them were at the bar already, so we quickly went and said hi to them before grabbing a table. We decided we wanted to grab some food, so i *tried* to grab a table. I went to stand at the front of the restaurant at the host stand and i waited a solid 10 minutes for anyone to notice me. When they did come up, the guy was pretty nice and chill, and managed to get us into a table for an hour (even though they had a ton of reservations). Service was friendly but not great, I ordered the raspberry marg ($12.60), and they basically forgot about my drink (we actually got our food first)? I had to tell the waitress I was still waiting on the drink. (Tbh i was in it all to have a good time and drink up), once I finally got the marg, it didn't even have a salted rim?! If i'm paying that much for a drink, it better be good! Our server didn't end up coming back for a good 10-15 mins, so i got up myself and went to the bar. When i asked for the salted rim, they did it but kinda felt passive aggressive. After this i ordered a few beers. The beer selection is pretty good with some local faves. All in all, our server was really sweet and friendly, but I had to put my hand up a few times. Food was okay, good kinda but nothing to write home about. I got the chicken bites with the dill ranch sauce. Sauce was yummy, but the bites were on the dryer side. The ambience is great, a huge place and tons of fun games. A place like this is defs needed in Vancouver! I'll defs be back with friends for a fun night out. I recommend making a reservation as it's pretty busy! I was invited to Greta for a Yelp event. The outside might seem a little dingy but once you walk inside you, you will feel you are in a different world. They have a lot of fun arcade games that you can enjoy. We were seated next to the bar and ordered G&T and Whiskey & ginger ale. While the W&G was delicious the G&T was definitely a let down. It was not at all balanced as a drink. The street nuggets came with pickles and a dip and were delicious. Similarly the Vietnamese wings and bao buns were incredible as well. What I really liked about the place was that their bathrooms were all unisex and have a light on top to show whether they are occupied or not. The games are a lot of fun as well! My biggest disappointment for the night was the wait staff. The place was relatively empty but we had to ask twice for cutlery. Never got the water we asked for and had to wait a long time for the order to be taken. The drinks were spilling when we got them. Definitely try the appetizers and the arcade but be aware that the service won't be great read more

I've been to Greta a handful of times and can say without a doubt that this place is great for an abundance of arcade games, good music (they have a DJ that spins later at night on weekends) and decent drinks. HOWEVER, I came here for a large birthday party last Friday and felt compelled to write this review after experiencing bad dining service as well as extremely inappropriate and rude behaviour from the staff. Firstly, don't come to Greta expecting to receive standard dining service - when you get to your table, no water was offered. When food was delivered, the waitress, Sky, failed to bring cutlery and napkins over. Are we expected to eat pasta with our hands? What was more alarming was the rude and disrespectful staff. There was a washroom that had its door lock completely taken out. Since my girl friend was using that stall (it was the only one available at the time), I decided to look after her from the outside in case someone was about to open her door while she did her business. Good thing I did because one of the staff members (a short, red-headed Caucasian male with a hair bun) came over to open the door without even asking if someone was in there. Even after I told him my lady friend was occupying the stall, he proceeded to peep through the door hole!!! I immediately stopped him to protect my friend's privacy. He then had the audacity to ask us if we took out the door lock. To add to the terrible experience, when we went to the smoke pit through the front entrance, we were met with an extremely rude bouncer (balding, hispanic looking male that was around 5'10 in height) who was yelling at us in profanity, since we didn't come through from the side door. Keep in mind, that both entrances to the smoke pit are just a meter of a distance apart from one another so it wouldn't have been a huge effort to let us in from either directions. Yet, he was aggressively, saying "FUCKING GO THROUGH THE OTHER SIDE, IT'S FUCKING SIMPLE." I'm baffled by the service provided by this establishment. read more

We went to the location in gastown Vancouver yesterday - there was a guy bar attender with grey shirt that was SO RUDE TO US. The bar was empty and it took him forever to notice us and grab our order and YELLED at me about miss understanding what I ordered ( all I did was stopped him from pouring me the wrong drink). I was so shocked and embarrassed ...He seemed like he just hated being there... or working there. Had a blast at Greta Bar! We came during their happy hour from 3-6pm and enjoyed drinks and appies as well as fun nostalgic arcade games. We had a very friendly and welcoming bartender, Brody, and appreciated his attention and conversation. The appies we tried were delicious: the vietnamese chicken wings were lightly fried and seasoned and the taquitos were crispy on the outside with two dips including a pineapple salsa that was delicious. There were lots of arcade games to choose from, many from my childhood like: Mario Kart, Jurassic Park, pinball, skee ball, etc. They even have a photobooth if you want to take home some photographic memories. read more

I have never been here prior to tonight's experience. My friend and I went and bought a $50 game card to share. We sat and got two appies that came to $31. She went and got us drinks at the bar...$51 for two double vodka sodas... that's absolutely ridiculous! Prices weren't posted anywhere. The lines for games were so long you couldn't do anything. They barely had any games. Wouldn't recommend as a weekend activity. Maybe on a weekday sure. I'll only be going back because I'm stuck with this game card. Both unimpressed and do not recommend at all!! Also didn't see the apparent "dance floor." -100 don't waste your money. They do not give refunds for the cards.
