If you are in the mood for live music, this is the place to be!! Tip: call ahead of time to ask when their live music starts. Best part about The Ventura Room is that getting last minute reservations on a Friday night is never an issue. My favourite was their cauliflower bites - they were crispy, flavourful and their garlic sauce just gave it that extra oomph.

Came here after dinner on a Friday night to celebrate my friend's birthday. Was disappointed in all the drinks we ordered (wine was ok). Starting with the ambiance, it was pretty nice, music was a bit overly loud though. Had to shout for my friend to hear me & vice versa. My watch was warning me how 30 minutes of over 90 decibels will give me temporary hearing loss. Lol. Drinks... NSFW- utter disappointment. Basically a shaved ice without an ounce of alcohol in it. Not worth $25. By The Fire - it was an "ok" old fashion. Negroni - absolutely disgusting. Worst Negroni I've ever had. Had a sip of it and decided to stop drinking it. Artificial medicine taste. Only part that I enjoyed was the frozen grapes. Food Fish tacos - actually pretty darn good. Probably just needed a tad more sauce. But if I ever do decide to come back, will order this again. Pickled fries - interesting, but not my jam. I can see how someone who generally likes pickles would enjoy it though. Overall, came here for the drinks, but was miserably disappointed. But the food wasn't half bad. Oh, and it was a bit hard to get a hold of our server. The place was packed and they seemed understaffed.

Initially, I ended up at the Ventura Room on a Tuesday evening as a backup option since the Brown's upstairs was full. But I'd venture(a) to say that this lounge is pushing for first string status! A friend and I stopped by for a quick drink before seeing a show at Queen Elizabeth Theatre. I thought the atmosphere was quite pleasant; around 30-40% of the tables were filled and the lighting was tastefully dim without being too dark. Kudos to whoever chose the music that night; Anderson .Paak is one of my favorites, and the music very much fell into the hip-hop/funk/jazz categories. My friend had the smoked rosemary gin and tonic, which was indeed smoky and complex. The jury's still out on whether there was too much going on in the drink, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I had the Daquirita, which had flavors of pineapple and yuzu. I quite liked it, a sweet and fruity drink to satisfy my craving for an easy drinking cocktail. These crafted cocktails are generally $12-15, so while they're not cheap, they're not outrageously expensive either. My only wish is that they would have a bit more finger food! I was really craving some fries to go with our evening drinks, but the closest they had was chips and guacamole. Really excellent and friendly service as well. I hope to be back soon!

Fantastic drinks, ambience and service! Always a great spot for drinks with friends, date nights! Anything! I love this little spot ! Been a few times now.

Husband and I went here after randomly passing by it. It has such a cool, intimate vibe playing current hits and serving some great cocktails. We tried some cocktails on menu and off. Bartenders were awesome. Drinks were perfectly balanced and great flavors. Only food we tried were the house made kettle chips. Nice and crispy and not greasy. They were great to snack on. Onion dip was pretty good. Not my favorite. This place wasn't super crowded. Great value and cool spot to grab drinks.

We came here for a Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations!…read moreHats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP!

The setting is cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Staff was lovely and we were not rushed. Unfortunately they require full payment at the time of booking including a tip % automatically applied. I find this quite distasteful. It is one thing to pay a deposit to secure our spot ....but asking for the tip for a service yet to be provided is terrible. My friend really wanted to go and therefore I agreed to it this one time but I would never do it again.

We had been there less than 10 minutes. We were told at that point (for the second time) when we had to leave by. We selected a top bottle and when we ordered were told what time we needed to vacate the table. At that point I had enough. I wasn't prepared to spend that much on a beautiful bottle of wine (and dinner) to be harassed the entire time we enjoyed it. Very embarrassed I had to ask my guest if we could leave. Went to Cin Cin on Robson and had a proper dining experience with professional service. I will NEVER return to sequel despite living a block away with significant disposable income. Cannot recommend strong enough you avoid this place and I hope the wonderful musicians find a venue close to soon. I stand by this as I comment never, reach out directly.

For dinner we shared a diavola pizza and smoked salmon parpadelle. The pizza was good but the crust was soggy. The salmon parpadelle was good but I think it would have been better with another pasta - spaghetti, linguine or fettucine as the pasta could not be twirled with a fork and spoon and had to be cut up. The service was excellent. When our server Malaka heard that we were coming in from Abbotsford she said that she would give us the "best seat in the restaurant". When we opted to sit on the patio she gave us a complimentary tiramisu as a thank you. It was such a kind gesture. It was a nice relaxing evening and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
