Excellent options like, Duck, roast pork, korean short ribs, beef skewers, small clams, beef chow fun, ginger beef, dim sum items, sushi and sashimi. Good salad bar and desert options. The boys and I were really excited to find that there was a prime rib special ($32.99) on New Year's Day! We had to phone to make reservations because OpenTable wasn't working properly. As expected, there was a long queue when we arrived, but you can walk up to the front and wait by the "Reservations/Special Guests" sign and the staff will seat you quickly. My son and I made a beeline to the prime rib(there were two choices: medium rare and medium well), fish (sans chips), crab cakes, and butter green beans Almondine. The usual condiments (tartar sauce, au jus, horseradish, chili oil) were provided on the side. The prime rib was juicy and meltingly tender, the green beans were delicious and tender-crisp, and the perfectly seasoned crab cakes were packed with a generous portion of crabmeat (I'm adding an extra star to this review on account of these crab cakes!). The lightly battered fish was delicious without the chips. However, the grilled shrimp skewers were bland (they looked like they were steamed/boiled), and the marinated steaks were thin and overcooked. With the exception of the chocolate fountain(with profiteroles, pineapple, marshmallows, honeydew and cantaloupe), most of the dessert choices were lacklustre. The sangria jello tasted like cheap wine(the boys and I would have preferred it to be sweeter) and the creme brûlée was served in a huge pyrex dish instead of individual ramekins.

This Review is for the BUFFET within Grey Eagle Resort Casino. As you can see from my photo, they have nightly features that highlights different cuisines from Seafood to Prime Rib to International. Much like many other Casinos, their Buffet is relatively reasonably priced. For Friday to Sunday Nights, they feature Albertan Prime Rib of Beef Buffet for $27.99! I am not going to say the Prime Rib is the best, in fact it is slightly above average, it is cooked very well, as you can see, its perfectly medium rare, but the taste is not as intense as you might expect the kind of beef from Alberta. I had been to another Casino for their Prime Rib Night (No Buffet in that one), their beef quality is much higher! But considering the price you pay and other items you get along with the beef, it is not a bad deal, remember to ask for your complimentary Tea after your meal! ( only Tea is complimentary, if you want coffee, its extra!).

Grey Eagle Buffet _$29.99 . This was just fine. I wouldn't go back again and didn't feel goof after. I didn't even eat much for a buffet and nothing tasted special. Great for an average meal, but definitely not worth the visit or recommendation. I'm glad I finally checked it out, but definitely prefer my $1,99 breakie at @cashcasinocalgary. It's fine for a buffet, but if you love food there's 100 other places I could recommend instead. You also have to pay in advance before sitting down.

I came here for dinner at 8pm. No line up. The food seemed freshly rolled out considering they were a buffet. The prime rib was nicely cooked. The desserts were diverse. Caution the tend to undercook the noodles. The clam chowder was my grandma's homemade batch. Fantastic. Service was attentive. It was almost perfect, except they didnt have ice cream.

#11 for 2025 I came…read morehere for the Comic Xplosion event hosted by Calgary Comic Expo. It was being held further back behind the tables in it's own room. Bouncers were there. I think you had to pay extra to get there. For me and others part of the event, we were allowed to walk in. There was a dance floor and full bar. We got there as they were restocking. We arrived abut 7:30pm I guess it wasn't open yet on a Friday night. I was told there is a coat check. Took advantage of that to lessen our load checking in both our coats. A guick visit to the restrooms found them pretty clean. By the time I settled in at a table next to the bar I placed my order for a beer. Needed one. Bartender kindly filled me in what was available and took a can. Everyone was polite and courteous willing to help out and answered all my questions about the venue, where i needed to go and who I can go to for the best assistance. Big screen TVs all around playing sport events, music videos, etc. Parking is abundant. Not sure how it would be if there is an event happening at the park. By the time everything was in high gear the noise level is really high. Several eye candies around to help with your drink orders. All very young dancing on raised steps in their skimpy outfits. The casino had a good variety of tables. I saw slots as low as C$2. Poker is played 24\7 but they also have Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Free Bet, Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold' em, Hand-Held EZ Baccarat and Face-Up Pai Gaw. Plus multimedia Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat. While you're playing you can get complimentary soda and coffee. I realized this would be a great place to chill before, or after an event. There are a few food options you can order from at the center bar. Hitman's has some good apps, soups, salasd, bowls, sandwiches and a lava cake. If you want burgers and pizza then head over to Melrose. For something more exotic go to Second Sons Kitchen for Asian food. The pricing might seem high to some but with the U.S. dollar strong I thought it cheap for everything they had to offer. It was fun to watch the Comic Xplosion event with Mog Park as a participating artist. As part of the group of artist she had 1 hour to paint on a 18x24 canvas. The lighting could be better but you could see everything everyone is paining. This round had 6 artist total and all were very good in their field. A couple were legends. While they are painting you can bid on the art work. Right off the bat Mog pulled in the highest bid leaving others behind. She led most of the way till it was almost over then the lead was jumping between 3 artist including Mog. Bidding was scheduled to stop 15 minutes after the 1 hour was up. In the last minute a bid war took place on her piece getting a final bid that became the highest in that round. It was fierce and exciting so fun to watch. The Cowboys Casino I believe handled the event well and was a win win for both parties, the Casino and Calgary Comic Expo. it would be nice to come back and experience the casino on my own leisure.

Five Star is a fun place with a great vibe. The people are super friendly and everyone gets into the game. The BEST part about Five Star is that it's open late on Friday and Saturday nights. Staying near the airport? This is one of the best options for food after 10pm. Their daily specials are also a great deal. "BUFFET" ok it's not a buffet as you might expect, the special buffet nights feature a lunch line style setup where you get a meal, but you do get your food fast. Prime Rib (Tuesday) - The beef is great, salad is decent, veg is good, price is unbeatable. Usually dessert is a donut but last time it was a tart, hopefully this remains the dessert option. Fish and Chips (Wednesday) - It's a decent plate, chips include fries and wedges. While decent I would skip as "wing Wednesday" is offered at most restaurants in the surrounding area. Asian night (Thursday) - I really enjoyed the noodles, rice was fine, very large portion with multiple protein options. Overall this place has a big menu for late night food, even their limited late night menu has plenty to offer. The value is top notch as prices are low and portions are decent. Fountain drinks are free so add that cost savings if you're not drinking alcohol. If you're staying at a nearby hotel then the convenience is also amazing. 2 min walk or drive. Server (Judy) is one of the most unenthusiastic humans to ever exist. Seems unhappy to be working almost every time we encounter her. Took her three tries to find menus for our table, and even when she did find menus, they were all crusty and dirty. She almost never knows what the soup of the day is, and seems very "meh" about providing a level of service that's a step up from a fast food counter. Fast forward to our food. Fries were hot and fresh and that's where it ends. Mains were lukewarm at best, and we were almost completely finished before she came to check on us. Had she actually done her job, instead of chatting to a customer at the bar, we could have informed her of our disappointment. Fast forward to asking for our bills. Asked for them, she wandered off, and it was approximately 5-7 minutes later she came back with them, and instead of being proactive and bringing the debit machine, she laid the bills down, and vanished again. She came back a short while later, debit machine in hand, and saw one of our party was paying with cash, and subsequently vanished again for no reason, only to come back even more confused than she was before. The person paying cash had left a fair amount for bill/tip, and she sort of questioned if they needed change. We said no, it was fine, and then we expected her to ring the bills for the people paying with cards and instead she took the cash and wandered away, and came back a few minutes later for the rest to pay. In between people paying she would go back to the bar and then come back to finish another bill. I wish the service here would ramp up just a few notches on weekends. Have someone dedicated to serving patrons who are eating and someone dedicated to serving booze throughout the casino. It would save a lot of hassle and I'm sure it would be welcomed. There is usually a guy working the upper level of the bar and sometimes a younger woman, and they are top notch at their jobs. I just wish that the staffing would be more consistent, along with some needed consistency with the food. One day it's good, next day it's awful. Think it might be time to eat before we come out to gamble, or find another casino to eat at. Just my 2 cents.
