I had a convo with a random army man about his love life, had a seat to myself, avoided the smelly folks and the people playing loud music and the nasty bathroom in the back ( so maybe it wasn't nasty, I didn't want to risk it.) For quicky trips...OK, not a bad, and very cheap way to go. Problem. Long trips are living hell. I took it 12 hours to Oklahoma and ended up at 2 in the morning asleep on the floor in a San Antonio bus depot during some weird middle of the night stop over. All of us got sick on the return trip. Worst customer service ever! I booked two tickets online for a trip from Austin, TX to San Antonio, TX on the 12/29/2017. The Bus was supposed to leave at 11am, so we were at the bus station at 10am. The bus arrived on time and we were waiting in line to get in. But then the staff told us that the bus was already full and we would have to wait over 1 1/2 hours for the next bus. No one could tell us if there's a guarantee to get into the next bus or when exactly it's going to arrive. If I book tickets online in advance I expect to get a seat in the bus I booked a seat in! Delays happen but as a bus line service Greyhound should organize a bus trip and only sell as many tickets as seats are available for one bus!!! I called the customer service for a refund and waited in line for almost 2 hours and got kicked out. I emailed them twice and never got a response. Worst customer service ever. I went from Dallas to Austin in the beginning of November. The fair was $27.50. A last-minute ticket on Southwest one way would've cost almost 10 times that. The Vonlane bus is about three times that. The bus left and arrived within about 20 minutes of the scheduled time. It was by far the cheapest way to travel and although my bus went on to San Antonio and Laredo, from Dallas to Austin it was nonstop.The bus did not seem to be the cleanest and can not be compared to the mega bus or Vonlane for comfort or amenities. The station in Dallas seems depressing and though there were long slow lines I thought the people were doing the best they could do. Maybe they are understaffed or perhaps not encouraged by management. At least they didn't confiscate my nail clippers or pen knife. I didn't have to take off my shoes and go through an x-ray machine or get patted down. There were drink machines and snack vending machines. Some of the people seemed down and out, most of them seemed quite normal. There was a lack of obnoxious businessman doing their important business on their cell phones looking impatient and important. read more

I agree with J.T (below)., most folks write reviews when unhappy. Nevertheless, I can say now that 2 of my 3 Greyhound experiences have been miserable (let's say one mediocre, 3-star experience, and two 1-stars). Both times, the bus was delayed. I understand that happens. What I don't understand is how difficult it is for the bus station to make that fact known to the passengers. I had to seek someone out to ask when/if it was showing up. The first time, I was given no answer and told to wait in line... I waited two hours. Today, I was given an extremely vague answer "the bus is half an hour late, so probably before 6 AM" and come 6, I have still not heard a peep from the staff. I left at 6:30 AM. My bus was supposed to be at 5:40 AM. Here are the two worst parts. 1) Greyhound asks you to show up an hour before departure... an absolutely insulting request for a company that can't hold it's own schedule or let you know if it's running behind. 2) I had my car less than a block away, but was hoping to do work on the bus. Had they been honest and upfront with me, I could have skipped the hour-long wait and started driving immediately. Never taking Greyhound again until they change management. read more

The lady I spoke to on customer support was a mentally deficient baboon who gave me the the WRONG schedule and I nearly missed the next greyhound home. Been taking the DFW to Austin bus route through pure necessity for the last two months and it just keeps getting worse and worse. 2-3 mnths into COVID-19 they are shutting down the lobby due to transmission concerns. Greyhound is the WORST way to travel in America! Bus departures are notoriously late -- my first trip from Austin to Dallas was one hour late and I missed my connecting bus in Dallas, and my return trip from Tyler to Dallas was TWO HOURS late, so I missed TWO buses home to Austin, adding to six hours of waiting under miserable conditions. Avoid Greyhound at all costs! No matter how cheap it may seem to you, it's not worth the horrible experience you will go through. You will suffer! read more

I had a terrible experience with Greyhound, and I can only hope that this is not a norm for your company. My bus was scheduled to depart at 7:30. I woke up super early to be there on time, and when I arrived at the station, I was told my bus had been delayed FOUR HOURS until 11:35. I went back home and returned to the station 20 minutes prior to the updated departure time as recommended. The bus had already left, and the next available one was almost 12 hours later at 9 pm. I got that ticket refunded and got home another way. Then, after checking to make sure I still had my return ticket, I discovered after three different methods of contacting customer service, that my return ticket was also cancelled AND I didn't get a refund, AND they didn't tell me. What the f word?! I didn't get any updates about any of the bus delays or updated departure times, and it is nearly impossible to figure out any of this information on your own. I should've checked the Yelp reviews before I booked with this company. read more

My yound son and I were on the Phoenix to Flagstaff bus that left at 4:55pm on july 8. It broke down shortly after we left. The driver claimed to be on hold with dispatch for what seems hours. The rescue bus also broke down after us waiting several hours. When I contacted both the Phoenix and the Flagstaff offices they both told me different stories. I told the driver that I had a 4am train that I had to catch and it was approaching midnight. There were multiple greyhound busses the passed us that we could have been transferred to in order so that my son and I could make our train. Instead no one picked us up, no one provided me with the answers are correct updates and I decided that I had to call a cab to come pick us up at a cost of $175. The cab arrived at the same time 3rd bus showed up with a mechanic. This situation was made worse by greyhound not helping the priority customers get to their destinations with other passing busses. Had we missed our train (a 3 day train to NYC) my entire trip would have been destroyed. There were no other available seats like we had on any later train. Everything was booked. We also were unable to use our motel in Flagstaff which was $79. I am requesting to be compensated for these events. Greyhound was undoubtedly negligent in how this issue was handled. We understand breakdowns happen. But no one knew anything. All dispatches were giving us all different stories and at 12am, I couldnt risk losing my train and my entire vacation. read more

I wish I could give Greyhound on E. Koenig Ln a negative star rating. Worst. Experience. Ever. First of all, I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I even considered taking a Greyhound bus - one way - from Austin to Dallas. I figured, how bad could it be? I'll just fire up my laptop and watch a movie along the way. Simple, right? Wrong. I purchased my ticket online which required me to check in at the front desk at the E. Koenig Ln station. While in line, I noticed one of the customer service reps - a pudgy Hispanic lady - having all kinds of problems and arguments with the people in front of me. I decided to wait and try my luck with the other clerk, an african-american gentleman (and I'm being very liberal with the term gentleman here). He gave me my ticket, no problem, but then I made the egregious mistake of asking to buy a few sodas for my trip. He looked at me like I just slapped his face. That required him to turn around, take a few steps to the cooler and get me a few sodas which he practically threw across the counter at me...never making eye contact as he took my money and dismissed me. I laughed out loud but little did I know this was the best service I'd get all day.... Ticket in hand, I now had about thirty minutes to wait for my bus to pull in to the station. I was then informed by the armed security guard - not by anyone from Greyhound, mind you - that the bus had experienced some mechanical problems and the trip would be delayed. Not knowing how long the delay was going to be and with the Greyhound employees not communicating any information whatsoever, I decided to get a refund on my ticket and I'd just catch a cab to the airport and fly to Dallas. Big mistake. I went to the front desk and unfortunately this time ended up with the little latina Tasmanian Devil. Nasty little person. I asked to refund my ticket and she asked why. I told her that the bus was delayed, I wasn't given any information on how long it would be delayed and I'd just as soon find another way to my destination. She turned to her african american counterpart behind the counter and said, and I quote, 'this guy wants a refund because he's too good to wait another half hour." She rolled her eyes and they both kind of chuckled and I politely inquired if, indeed, the bus would be leaving in another half hour (since this is the first update I'd gotten). She said, 'that's what I said, right?" What a terrific bitch. I'd had enough. I asked her what her problem was, if you don't like your job, don't take it out on the customers. Most of these people have no other option on how they travel, so I'm sure you think you can treat them however you want but there's no way you're talking to me like that. I asked for her name and she said, 'I don't have a name." -"Good," I said, "as it matches your personality. A complete nothing." She threw my ticket back at me and yelled, 'Next' so she could abuse the next person in line. I stepped aside and began filming - via my smartphone - her rude interactions with the customers because the company needs to see just how nasty she is. Once her counterpart saw what I was doing, he called security and she covered her face behind her hands. I would too if I was being such an a-hole. I got enough footage to accurately back up my story and security never reported to the numerous calls made over the loudspeaker. I then fired up my laptop and looked for the Greyhound Corporate number and/or email so I could immediately report my terrible experience and send over the video to prove it. What do you know, the number given on their website for Customer Service is 'not a working number.!!' I swear, I can't make this crap up. Right around this time, the bus pulled in and I decided to go on with my trip since the ticket was non-refundable. When I got on the bus, the female bus driver from the previous leg of the trip got on the bus and proceeded to basically challenge any of the passengers to report her for bad customer service (this was presumably for the mechanical problems the bus encountered on the way to Austin). She was extremely cocky, repeatedly making sure we knew her name and saying, 'please report me. They'll email me and ask my side of the story, I'll respond and I'll still be working here tomorrow.' Unbelievable! I hadn't had any interactions with this person previously but I was still tempted to stand up and tell her to shut the hell up. That's the attitude with Greyhound and their employees, they feel they have a captive audience and there's no need for niceties, customer service or even the slightest bit of professionalism or common courtesy. Apparently this attitude goes all the way to the top since they can't even maintain working phone numbers on their corporate website. The armed security guard summed it up best. As I was boarding the bus, I told him that I was the one at the counter that they kept paging him for. He said, 'those guys are a-holes. I never respond to them.' Hilarious. read more

It's unfortunate that most people only write reviews when we are angry or have been treated poorly. I am guilty of that myself. After reading reviews about Austin's Greyhound bus experiences, I was freaked that I didn't investigate further before buying a very affordable ticket. I am currently on bus from Austin to Houston at 10:05am. Using its wifi on a very clean, cushy seat. The station was clean, (didn't use the toilet, or eat from the machine) the staff appropriate, and the system organized. The bus driver asked a guy on his cell to keep his voice down. So far, it is what I hope it was going to be. I hope my return trip is the same way. read more

In Austin, Greyhound is closer to me than Megabus. I rode it on a Saturday 12:01 pm trip from Austin to Houston. The bus left at 12:09 pm. We're stuck in Houston's Hwy 290 traffic so we'll probably be at least half an hour late. Pros: - Vending machines where you can buy snacks and drinks - Comfortable, quiet, cushioned rides that arenothing like the rough Capital Metro bus rides - There are kiosks where you can print tickets - Buying tickets was easy - Ticket prices seemed competitive with Megabus - The bus driver seemed nice - There were power outlets for each seat. - The Wifi signal was steady and strong. Cons: - The bus station is a small building with barely enough chairs in the waiting area. - Security is dubious as the bus driver doesn't scan your ticket code or make you and your baggage go through a metal detector - Drinks and food allowed on buses so you'll see remnants of that on the bus - Bus riders sometimes carry on long phone conversations and talk loudly - The gates and bus boarding information is announced via an intercom with terrible audio quality. Even native English speakers have to listen closely. They should post gate information on a screen somewhere. - There are lots of strong perfumes and cigarette smells in the bus station waiting area as well as on the bus. The lady sitting in front and upwind of me had lots of unpleasant perfume on. That was the worst thing. That made me feel sick the whole 3-hr trip. Bring a facemask or better yet, a respirator. I guess perfume is preferable to the smell of people who haven't bathed in a while... I'll try Megabus next time. read more

First let me start by saying the only reason this review has one star is because yelp wouldn't let me not put one and/or take any away from other posts...however trust me I will continue to try! My journey with greyhound began a little over a week ago when I made an advance purchase over the phone with greyhound's reservation line, one of those 7-day advance purchases so I could get a really great deal on a bus fare, roundtrip, from Austin, TX to Fayetteville, AR - less than 1/2 the cost of airfare. I should have known from the start this wasn't going to be a good experience when the representative who made my reservation couldn't even send me an email confirmation..."sir, it's not possible with our system". Speed up to the day of departure - I leave home about 9:30pm via taxi that cost $20 and arrived about 9:40pm (bus departs at 10:25pm); the told me about a dozen times in various different ways to arrive promptly at the bus terminal "ONE HOUR BEFORE THE BUS DEPARTS"...and here I thought that ***I*** was late. I'm sure that the young lady who took my ID and credit card is a very pleasant person; however, I'll never know because a) she never spoke to me except to ask for my ID and credit card and b) she was smacking on a huge wad of gum that pre-occupied her ability to speak. It wasn't until 10:55pm that the bus to Dallas arrived (one of three destinations before reaching Fayetteville, AR). Now one came over to the waiting area or announced that the bus had arrived, not the associates who worked at the station or the bus driver. My ticket said I was in boarding lane #2, so I got up and waiting in line until 11:05pm when the bus driver opened the door, again didn't say anything. There was one guy in front of me; the bus driver took his bag, placed it under the bus, opened the door to let him on the bus, then preceded to get one the bus. It wasn't before he almost closed the door before I asked what was going on...was in line for the wrong bus? Nope, this one was going to Dallas; however, all of the seats were full and I had to go back inside to speak with the clerk at the ticket counter, as instructed by the bus driver who nearly slammed the bus door in my face. As I walked up to the ticket desk in a cluster-fuck of rage I had yet to come across in my life, I tried my best to compose myself, remembering that I too am in the service industry and SURLY there's something they can do for me...after all, I'm the CUSTOMER...PAYING for the ticket. There was a different person at the desk at this time, thankfully he mount wasn't chewing anything which made conversation a little more accessible...again, or so I thought. The first question I asked him was "is it customary for ya'll to oversell seats on your busses?" He replied with "I didn't oversell anything". I was quick to acknowledge by saying "no no no, I don't mean you, please don't take it personal, I mean greyhound; does greyhound typically oversell seats on their busses". He tells me "Oh trust me, I don't take it personal." He then turned his monitor around and showed me a number on his screen that read "-15" and said "as you can see, we're at -15 for this bus and....the next one for Fayetteville, AR leaves at 9:00, I suggest you arrive early so that you can get on! Or, if you like I can refund your ticket, what do you want to do?" I told him "I want get get to Arkansas to spend my birthday with my Dad on the river, but instead I'm but doesn't look like that's going to happen because GREYHOUND (not you), oversold this one bus by 15 seats!" I wasn't sure what I wanted really because I didn't really want to put myself through this again, so I got the name and number of the manager who'd be on duty in the morning so that I could speak to him, because when I asked the clerk if he was empowered to do anything he said no. So I spent another $20 to get back home. The next morning I called the bus station, but the line was busy; I called the manger's number but it went to voicemail; I called customer service, but I've been on hold for an hour and ten minutes so far...which leads this little journey up to now! **update(s) to follow** read more

I travel a lot - by plane, train, bus...Still, I was nervous about taking the Greyhound from Austin to Houston after reading the horror story reviews on Yelp. My fears were completely unfounded. The trip was just fine. First, it's CHEAP (only $12 one-way, and I later learned I could get a $1.99 ticket online!). Second, the bus was lovely. Clean, new seats, spacious, free wireless, electrical outlets, good size overhead bins, clean bathroom, quiet, temperature level was just fine. Third, it arrived on time. Maybe I was lucky, traveling on a Wednesday morning. But, my experience was just fine. Sure, the Houston bus station is a bit sketchy, but it's an urban bus station, not a four-star spa. Waaay too much hate for Greyhound Bus Lines on these reviews. Let me tell you, if you expect luxury...yeah, you are in the wrong place. I had a good experience with Greyhound, took the early (7:55AM) Express bus from Austin to Houston. $20 last minute. The driver was super nice, the bus was quiet (and empty), and we got there 15 minutes early. Yes, there can be a variety of smells and interesting people, but we are all there to get from point A to point B. The Austin station is nice but minimal, Houston station a little on the sketchy side but police are there to make sure there's no funny business. If you have an open mind and need to get somewhere cheap, take the Greyhound..it really isn't that bad. read more

This review is based on 2 trips: Dallas, Waco & Austin stations. I have been riding public transportation through my 30s in the suburbs and inner cities. Most public transportation can have their stations along the line, trains or buses that smell of urine, seats that reek of lack of hygiene or clean clothes, lack of staff or funding to clean up after negligent, careless visitors and sketchy areas that tend to be more active and interactive before sunrise and after sundown. I've learned to seek out the cleanest areas, be proactive in asking questions and be accepting to those who do not have as much as others and are used to to their lifestyle. I've briefly spoken to very kind people and quickly cut off opportunists. With that said, the greyhound buses I've rode were during the day (by choice). They were clean, fast, funny, one was 15 min late (but that happens when you take public transportation and you have to account for it). Drivers and station staff have been helpful. ESP the Dallas station. Dallas had cleaning staff present, security present, ambassadors present. Waco and Austin are small, modest stations and do the job. The price of a ticket is very reasonable. I wish I could put negative stars, the service is TERRIBLE, the bus driver they don't care about their passengers, I traveled very often and all my family too. We have been treated so rude by the people at their front desk , so disrespecful not just with us also with more customers. They laughg about you, and if you asked them questions they will answer in a very bad mood. They drivers turn the AC On so cold they don't care about their passengers, one time they left all the passengers at Laredo while they were getting her permits without letting them know. I *really* dislike writing one-star reviews, as should be evident from my profile. I've also given Greyhound plenty of chances, even given their often-bizarre methods of business operations that have left me PO'd much more often than not. Their misadventure today, however, was the final straw. Greyhound, I don't *wish* I could quit you; I HAVE quit you. In many ways Greyhound reminds me of the situation with taxicabs in the age of Uber: they're both still running under utterly antiquated means, and think that creating an "app" or selling tickets online somehow all by itself makes them the equivalent of an Uber or a Southwest Airlines. They do not. By the longest shot imaginable. (Think Pluto. Well, assuming it still exists...) So: here's how Greyhound works today. Once upon a time their biggest worry was Southwest, which initially only offered short-haul routes (e.g. Dallas to Austin). Now they have a much bigger problem: Megabus. They've built their entire marketing model around one stole ... er, used in homage to the major European discount airlines, Ryanair in particular. Ryanair's schtick has always been "flights as low as 1 euro," and Megabus launched with tickets as low as $1 from the get-go, along with a bunch of nifty amenities like free wi-fi and power outlets for charging your phone or computer. Greyhound responded by creating Greyhound Express, which is basically identical except for them not using two-story buses or having any type of assigned seating. All sounds good on paper ... er, screen, right? In practice ... well, not so much. Let's start with ticketing: if you buy your ticket online, there are no refunds, period, ever, for all eternity, regardless of whether you paid a buck or $250 for a cross-country trek (though I can't even fathom what kind of masochist would do THAT in this day and age). You can *change* online tickets for $20, assuming there's no alteration in route, but here's the kicker: you have to pay the change fee EVEN WHEN GREYHOUND IS AT FAULT for your inability to use said ticket. That's what happened to me: I arrived at precisely 1:08pm (confirmed on my atomic clock-synced iPhone) for a 1:15pm bus, only to walk in the station and literally see it driving off -- this despite the fact that I had two confirmed, pre-paid tickets for the trip. I was subsequently "invited" to sit and wait FOUR HOURS for the next bus -- ON TOP OF having to pay an additional $40 (recall that I had two tickets) for "missing" a bus that left early. (Also, Greyhound MAKES A POINT of stating on its website that unlike air travel, where you have to get to the airport at least a half-hour before departure, Greyhound lets you arrive and hop straight onto a bus -- well, unless, of course, it's DEPARTED EARLY FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER.) But just to be clear, it's even *more* likely that your bus will be running SUPER-LATE, and also for no logical reason whatsoever! Last time IIRC we left 40 minutes late; the time before was closer to an hour. Again: I have no clue why they were delayed. (Oh, that's ANOTHER super-awesome thing about Greyhound! Me, walking up to the manager: "Hey, do you know when the bus to Houston is leaving?" Manager: "Bus ain't here yet. I dunno." Me: "Do you know when it's arriving?" Manager: "I dunno." Me: "Do you know *why* it's late?" Manager: "I dunno." Me: "Can you give me even a ballpark figure when the inbound bus is arriving?" Manager: "Nope." Me: "Can't you call dispatch or something and find out?" Manager: "That ain't how things work around here." And so forth.) Oh, and those newfangled "amenities" like wi-fi? Good luck with that. NOT ONCE have I ridden a Greyhound bus where the wi-fi didn't cut out entirely every couple of minutes -- AT BEST. Most of the time it's out of commission, period ... which, naturally, they don't tell you before boarding. Finally, just to be clear, Megabus is no wonderful alternative to Greyhound like Uber is to taxis. HELLLLLL no. In some ways it's even *worse* than Greyhound ... which I say solely to emphasize that even *given* Megabus's own hot-mess set of problems, I'm still quitting Greyhound. And the saddest part certainly has nothing to do with *me*: Greyhound's service is piss-poor because the majority of its passengers have *no* other option. I'm not talking about folks in Austin or Houston or some big city; I mean the ones in small towns with either no airport at all, or one that charges astronomical prices since one airline has a monopoly on service there. In the old days they had to compete with Trailways. These days Trailways is a shell of its former self: basically just an ad hoc jumble of various highly regional bus routes, ones that cover only a fraction of Greyhound's total territory. Exactly what you expect, unfortunately. I decided to try greyhound for the first time. Huge mistake. I was going to Corpus Christi through San Antonio, starting in Austin. The bus got to Austin late, and they never even informed us of it, and upon asking them about they never told us why. We got a 35 minute late start, so of course arrived in San Antonio late. The connection bus left before we got there, so about 12 of us completely missed our connection to Corpus Christi. They didn't apologize and didn't do anything to help, only told us that the next one was for 4 am the next day. This was at 8:30 pm. They expected us to wait in the station for 7 hours! We were told that after 4 hours they would give us a voucher to eat in their cafeteria...terrible. The San Antonio station is in a TERRIBLE part of town where as soon as you step outside you are accosted by panhandlers and drug addicts. I got a hotel and slept my frustration off only to return at 3:30 am the next morning. I lost a half day of my vacation and a lot of money on the hotel as an even was going on and all of the close and economical hotels were booked. I would NEVER use Greyhound again unless HUGE changes are made, and I plan to tell everyone about it :) read more

My brother in law was supposed to depart Plainview on Greyhound #7311 at 1:05 today 1/5/18 and his bus was delayed. Understandable with the weather, but we were not notified of the delay. At 1:50 I called customer service and was informed of the delay and was told the updated arrival was 7:30 pm tonight. I called at 7 to ensure it was still arriving at the scheduled time and 7:30 was confirmed. At 7:45 I noticed on the tracker the bus was past Plainview. My brother was standing out front and no bus had shown up.I called customer service again and was told the bus was on it's way to Lubbock and never stopped in Plainview. My brother in law has been there since before noon today. I was on hold for over 40 minutes trying to ensure that my brother could catch the next bus at 9:15 since they refused to contact the driver of the first bus or have him turn around. My brother has been standing in front of the pick up station all day! Now the 9:15 bus is delayed and they could not guarantee the driver would even allow him on since his ticket was for the earlier bus that never showed up! They can't notify the bus driver of the 9:15 bus to allow my brother on. This is BS. I have talked to customer service today three times- a call center with reps who have no ability to assist us. We will never use Greyhound again. Now the tracker says this bus is delayed by half an hour...I'm just trying to get my brother in law to Austin. I paid for the ticket, come on guys! read more

I get a little sick to my stomach when I think about Greyhound. Why? 1) MOST of the people who work there look/treat you like you are the least important person in the world. And I get it, I know they get some sketchy, a-holes regularly. But when a young lady with a kind face comes and asks you a question, BE NICE! Instead, I have had Greyhound workers literally turn around and walk away from me after asking them a direct question. 2) I've taken Greyhound 4-5 times now. One of those times the bus was full and there were still 6 people with tickets needing to board. They oversold the bus... no bueno. And from what I've read, this happens often. Tip: Get there early and get in line early! 3) The buses are late very often. By like, 1-2 hours. This sucks... 4) Buses are older and small (I'm comparing to Megabus) 5) The bathroom on the bus........... omg the bathroom. ew. The good thing about Greyhound is that it usually gets you where you want to be for a decent price (if you book 2+ weeks in advance). They also have outlets in the bus which is nice, you can charge your phone/tablet. read more

Watch out!!! This location (Austin, TX) is managed by individual (attending supervisor on 7/14/16 3:40 pm) whom has NO concept of what CUSTOMER SERVICE means. I booked my ticket online and was informed that they wouldn't/couldn't assist those with online reservations needing exceptions due to any misunderstanding (eg. ticket change). When I asked if there was a hotline I could call for assistance on reservations made online, he became very defensive and replied, "I am it! " and added that there's no one else above him I could talk to because he was "the" guy with highest authority available. For one I was NOT asking for someone higher up than him. Since he strongly emphasized he could not assist me due to how I booked my ticket, I was asking for guidance on who to contact that could assist me. I booked a greyhound trip a month in advance & asked to have the tickets mailed to me. I never received them.so i called & got them to have a ticket ready for me at will call. The day of my trip i show up and will call says they have no ticket for me. plus it was a sunday @ 1150p so no customer service either. I got screwed by Greyhound & they have no empathy and treat their customers like crap. Except for one guy working @ the Austin station, he was so nice & helpful. He turned my bad experience around. I won't ever ride Greyhound again but I did appreciate him & everything he did. read more

I'm sitting on a Greyhound bus right now that is traveling from Austin to Fort Worth. I haven't ridden a Greyhound in years but it seemed like a good option to make this trip between the two places while I am on vacation in Texas. Turns out I was wrong. I arrived at the station and waited in line while the ONE counter representative took over twenty minutes with one customer. Not only was this person the only representative but he barely spoke English. I'm originally from Texas so I completely understand there are many working folks who have varying degrees f English but you might want to consider having a that person AND a another person at the counter at the same time not only to cover any miscommunication but also so you can move people though a line. The kiosks where you can print your will call ticket was having issues ( I believe I was the only customer who after multiple tries, actually got it to print anything ...it kept saying you had to talk to an agent). The representative behind the counter finally went in back to try to someone to help (no one came out to the counter to help him), there was one in the customer service office (I knocked to see I could get home help) and when I called your main number and explained the situation to the person on the phone, they called they Austin station and got no answer. The only reason I am even on the bus is because a woman (again, no english) came out and finally able to communicate to her that I needed a check ticket for my piece of luggage. During this whole time, the line kept growing til there were about 15-20 people. For a city the size and importance of Austin, this is unacceptable. Where were your customer service representatives and the manager?They should have been coming to the counter to help move along the line. In the future, I'll be taking the train. read more

Beware Beware Beware Do not leave a vehicle at Greyhound while you use their bus service. Greyhound will have you towed. The parking signs look like the run of the mill for customers only. But if you read further the small print says that there is a two hour minimum. First of all, who would think you could not park to use the bus especially since the lot is empty and most customers don't have cars that use the bus. Secondly at 5 AM who notices the small print. It cost us $195 to get the car back making flying a cheaper trip. In addition the driver left us off at the wrong stop to make our connection which delayed us two extra hours. Corporate basically said tough luck. Needless to say, I will never use Greyhound again. read more

I've been very disappointed with my 2 experiences riding with Greyhound. The first time my bus was delayed by 2 hours, making me miss an exam at my university. There was no apology given for the delay and instead the lady that announced the message said that we'd get there when we'd get there, which was, needless to say, very upsetting to hear. Wanting to give them another try, assuming that the first time was a one-time-only event, I booked a ticket with them again, which was a mistake. My bus was once again delayed but this time by 2 1/2 hours with no apology or very clear explanation given. After contacting customer service about my experience 2 1/2 weeks ago, I have not gotten a response. Maybe my situation is not the norm but based off of my personal experience I wouldn't recommend Greyhound. read more

No complaints with greyhound in Austin. The staff were helpful and nice. They are a busy station but it doesn't effect how they treat the people. If you're expecting extremely fast service with limited people then you should lower your expectations. The bus itself was clean, air was working. Wifi and the electric outlets didn't seem to work which was fine as I was on an "express bus" to San Antonio. I would recommend charging at the bus station to be safe. I normally don't take the bus, really ever but thought I'd give it a shot. I wasn't expecting to get to my location on the exact time as I know all too well Austin traffic sucks and just to get out of the city would be a nightmare. Worst service in general, and worst customer service. Of the approximate five or six occasions I have used their services, the was has been four times late, which made lose my connection in another city, and they sometimes refuse to give a refund because of their mistake! Sometimes they do, is like if the policies were established by the personnel in charge at the time. I'm never using this company's buses again, the first times the problems occurred I thought it was a one-time issue, but it has been a constant every single time. Their terminals have issues of communication between them, and the employees are rude almost always, is like if they were trained to don't care about the customer and ignore his needs. It has been frustrating to travel with them. I really wish the had more competition in Austin. read more

Travel through Megabus instead. Picked the wrong date by accident, my mistake, but tickets are non-refundable and it costs $20 to change the date. On top of that, you can't change it online and I could never get someone to help me when I went to the station to fix it. First and last time using their services. 0/10. read more

My first Greyhound Bus Lines trip.....ever. My daytime bus ride on a Friday and a Monday was safe, cheap, easy, and at least as comfortable as a coach flight. I traveled from Austin to Corpus Christi (CC) and back with one bus transfer in San Antonio (SA). The Austin and CC bus stations were near downtown, uncrowded, clean, new/newish, quiet. The SA bus terminal was crowded and noisy, but a downtown, convenient location. All my buses were on time for leaving and arriving, give or take 15 minutes. Without exception on my rides, the passengers were respectful of other passengers. No one talked loudly on their cell phone. Kids on the bus were well behaved. Riders picked up their trash before leaving the bus. The overhead luggage bin held my 20"x 12" x 12" duffle bag and much smaller handbag so no checked bag was required. The greyhound information clerks were friendly and helpful in Austin and CC. I didn't talk to an information clerk in San Antonio. I will definitely take greyhound again for a short trip. The buses to my destinations were only 0 to an hour longer, if considering security screening and wait times, than the same general time and same day air flights and less than 15% of the price of air fare. read more

not extremely terrible. the station was clean and my bus from austin to fort worth was clean. all of the workers were nice and there weren't too many weirdos. the wifi only worked sporadically so i would bring some offline entertainment as a backup. also never take the greyhound if you absolutely must be somewhere by a certain time. they are almost always a little to very late. all in all a decent experience and not a bad price for quick in state trips. read more

I purchased a Greyhoud Express bus ticket for May 27, 2014 for a trip from Austin to Dallas with the hope of using the bus' free wifi and electrical outlets to work on the way. I called Greyhound to make sure they would have these services on the bus and the customer representative said that the bus should have these amenities. When it was time to board, the bus to Dallas was an Americanos bus and it did not have wifi nor electrical outlets, so I did not get on. Fortunately, I had purchased a refundable ticket. So I took a Megabus bus to Dallas a little later that day, and it did have wifi and electrical outlets. I won't use Greyhound again until they can guarantee that all of their buses have wifi and electrical outlets. read more

I did not have high hopes for a pleasant or efficient experience. I really didn't. I had read the prior reviews and also I'm aware this is Greyhound so you need to manage your expectations. They still managed to be a complete failure in every way. I tried to buy a ticket online, the site failed. I showed up early to the station to pay the higher rate and the kiosks were unbelievably slow, and wouldn't read any of my cards. (Didn't decline them, couldn't read them.) I asked an employee for help, and oh hey, that's not what they're there for! Silly me! They can't do credit card transactions and have zero option for manual overrides! They don't care if you struggled so long with the machine that you missed the cutoff for tickets! (Which is ten minutes prior just fyi, because it's not posted anywhere.) Tl;dr: nothing works and employees do not give a shit. There are other bus options, use those. Fly. Do anything else. read more
