This is maybe my 5th or 6th time to travel on Vine lane. It's the first time I've really been disappointed. The service was not great. I was not checked on very often, and so I would have ordered a second glass of wine if I had been asked. I held on to my trash for probably an hour before being able to dispose of it. I know this is a first world problem, but when you spend this much on a one-way ticket, you do expect the luxury that they advertise. I'll have to think twice about doing this again. read more

Excellent first time experience despite the outbound bus running 15 minutes late, I made it on time to Houston. This was a tough weekend, given all the activities in downtown Austin (SXSW), and I knew traffic could be nutty so I planned accordingly as this was a one-day trip (previous obligation). Happy to say that the outbound bus quickly completed the boarding process and we were on the road in no time, and arrived in Houston at 1:15pm. The driver and attendant were pleasant (apologies I can't recall their names). I did opt to enjoy a meal on board - the chicken club sandwich (with bacon) was decent. Inbound bus back to Austin was right on time and boarded quickly, and I made it home on time - 6:45pm arrival. No meal for me as food options were limited but I did enjoy snacks. Again, the driver and attendant were pleasant (kudos to consistency). In my opinion, this is money well spent due to the overall value of service, and especially if you want to avoid driving yourself. The bus itself is really spacious, clean bathroom, and the seats are comfortable. I managed to nap on both rides. I will definitely use Vonlane again for future travel to Houston or Dallas. read more

I'm literally typing this as I'm riding on the bus. I have to make frequent trips to MD Anderson in Houston, and I love taking Vonlane. Every trip has been absolutely top notch. The drivers and bus stewards are so friendly and are great about remembering frequent "fliers." The attention to detail and service are exemplary...from the offerings of toothbrushes, toothpaste, sleep masks, pillows/blankets, computer/screen cleaners, and hand sanitizer to the meal, drink and snack options. If you're an MDA patient, Vonlane offers a slight discount. You need to call the MDA travel department to make reservations. My only problem with the service (and it's a smallish one) is that Vonlane has a quiet phone call policy (if you need to take a call you keep it brief and quiet) that they often do not enforce. It surprised me given the review from the person who said he was chastised for talking on the phone. During my last trip, the woman in front of me carried on a 90 minute conversation at top volume. By the time we got to Houston I knew waaaaay too much about her family drama (damn that cousin of hers that ruined the family reunion) and her dating life (btw guys, she's single and according to her, in need of some major action). As I'm typing this, the guy in front of me has been on a call since we left Austin thirty minutes ago. Again, not a huge issue and not one that takes away from the amazing experience, but darn it...I'm tired and want to nap. read more

The best way to travel between Austin and Dallas Texas, if not the only way to travel between those two cities. I've taken other buses and even the horrible Amtrak. I can't believe it's been so long since I've taken a Vonlane, but it's still as great a service as ever. They've expanded their destinations, although I'm still riding from Austin to Dallas and back. It's almost as fast as taking an airplane, maybe more so once you take into account ridiculously early time, you need to be there, all the security you have to go through and the location of the airports. My experience with Vonlane has always been wonderful. Their locations are central, they are on time, and the snacks and extras are a great touch. This is my third business trip to Dallas using Vonlane, and I don't think I'll travel any other way. The bus always leaves exactly on time, so don't be late! Seats are comfortable, the internet is included, and amenities are plentiful including lap desks, snacks, beverages, meal service, and more. Some attendants are better than others but I've never had a bad experience. My only gripe is that I wish that there was more than one pickup and drop off location in each city. In order to reach the hotel in Austin, I have to drive 40 min south, only for the bus to pass my exit on the trip heading north. And because it is downtown, parking is very expensive (around $50/night). The drop off in Dallas is close to the airport (little weird because people normally chose the Vonlane bus over flying) but not downtown, which is my destination. read more

I wasn't really sure about riding on a bus somewhere, ANYWHERE. I've had several bus trips in my life. This isn't your normal bus. It's closer to your personal limousine. They are always on time (my pet peeve)....Not many passengers even when full. They take your luggage as you board. Vonlane made the trip comfortable/luxurious. I have used it for years from Dallas to Austin and Houston I even brought my 12-year-old niece with me once. That was a winner. And, guess what? You can actually CALL and a PERSON answers the phone. We have used Vonlane several times on our visits from Austin to Houston. The trip back from Houston yesterday had to be one of our best, with outstanding service from our attendant Sai. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and more! Our trip started off with a tasty little biscuit followed by yummy snacks and a cold drink. She also brought by a tray with advil, kleenex and other amenities. Then she brought us lunch, followed by even more snacks! We got the hot towel treatment after eating, which was a special touch! I used Vonlane for a trip from Houston to San Antonio and also to return back to Houston. The bus was late initially but I was notified via text message with an estimated time of arrival. I like the fact that I was kept in the loop and it helped that I was able to wait inside the Grand Hyatt hotel instead of outside until the bus arrived. Once it arrived, the ladies were very apologetic about the 45 minute delay. The trip went very well. Adequate snacks and drinks were provided. If you take a trip before 10:30am, they will offer a breakfast meal. The blueberry muffin with the Green Machine Naked juice was a perfect combination for me. The staff were very pleasant and professional. Seats were very comfortable and the environment was quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend Vonlane to anyone. It is much better than its competitors. This Vonlane arrives and departs from Hyatt along Lady Bird Lake. Boarding starts 15 minutes prior to departure. They load your bags, verify your seat and the bus rolls out exactly at the scheduled time. There aren't any calls for departure inside the hotel lobby, so keep an eye out for the busses directly outside of the hotel doors (or to the left). Your fair includes snacks, beverage service, restrooms, conference rooms, Wi-Fi, lap desks, access to outlets; they also have phone and tablet chargers for use. This was my 1st time ever using a bus for travel on Aug 4th from Austin to Dallas at 2pm. I didn't know what to expect at all. My friend told me there's cheaper options like Mega Bus or Greyhound but she said the latter was ghetto. the first option was better. With the whole covid situation I would rather ride a more expensive option to have less people on bus and be farther apart from one another. I read on their website the seating was more luxury, limited seatings, and they provided snacks + beverages... sometimes meals too. Those things sparked my interest. the drive time was 3 hours or so.. if I flew at the airport I would have to leave my house few hours early to account for driving there, wait in line to check in bags and go thru TSA. Plus getting off plane to baggage claims to retrieve luggage. With vonlane I only left like 20 minutes prior to check in on bus, 2 luggage are included no charge and it was a fast/easy process. Plus the time while being on the bus I can have free WiFi to play on my phone or do business on laptop/phone. You can make phone calls to people as well. You can maximize your productivity while on this bus than a plane. There's also plug outlets so I can charge my electronics too. The driver who loaded my luggage seemed nice and efficient. The lady who works inside the bus was AMAZING. she went above and beyond when I told her I needed a throw up bag cause I felt nauseated. She also brought over meds, cold towels and cold ginger ale for me to drink. She checked up on how I felt many times which made me felt good to know they cared i was feeling better. She also brought out a snack tray for everyone numerous times too with so many options. I'm glad the company wasn't stingy with handing out these tasty snacks and I think the passengers enjoyed being spoiled. The whole car ride was smooth, seats were comfy, AC was good and service was exceptional. Overall I was extremely impressed with the whole process and will definitely try vonlane more in the future as well as recommend them to others. oh for 1st time people you can get a 15% off discount as well. I think I paid around $90 for my trip and it was half the price as the airport considering I had 2 check in bags. Vonlane might have spoiled road travel for me. Ever wish your travel time to your destination could be longer? No? You'd understand if you were on-board right now. To give you an idea of how awesome this bus is... I'm writing this review as I am reclined back in a super comfortable leather chair with my feet on a footrest, using the bus wifi. This beats the heck out of flying ANY day. I'm in Texas right now for work, and my company told me to book Vonlane to travel from Austin to Houston, rather than taking a flight. I had the same thought anyone would have upon being told they had to take a 3-hour bus ride: ugh. But this is on a whole other level. A flight from Austin to Houston could run you upwards of $180, which of course involves getting to the airport (in my case, would've required taking a taxi) an hour and a half before take-off, then getting crammed into an always-tiny plane seat... then having to get out of the Houston airport to your final destination. OR you could take Vonlane. This trip cost $79, with much easier pick-up and drop-off locations (downtown in both cities), with wide, incredibly comfortable leather seats that have padded leg rests. My attendant on this bus is Melanie, and she's super sweet and friendly. As soon as the bus departed, I was offered a choice of snacks, including crackers, fresh fruit, and even yogurt. Since my bus departed at 7 am (way too early for me), I hadn't had time to eat breakfast... so problem solved! Since it's a work trip, I decided I should probably get some work done, thanks to the wifi. There's only three other people on this bus, so I had my choice of seats, including the back conference room area which has mounted tables. I worked on my spreadsheets and had my breakfast, and once finished, Melanie helped me move all of my belongings to a more comfortable seat in the middle of the bus, since the conference room chairs don't recline as much and don't have the footrests. Right now I'm using a padded lap desk in my new seat, which honestly is even more comfortable than the conference room table. They have a whole list of amenities they offer complimentary (besides the snacks and beverages), including neck pillows, toothbrushes and sleep masks. They also offer phone and laptop chargers they can loan you (or you can purchase if you want to take them with you). These guys really have thought of everything. I am beyond impressed with this service, and will just have to keep my fingers crossed that they expand to Florida. A trip to Orlando from where I live is about the same distance as Austin to Houston, and I would much rather take this kind of service instead of driving myself! This is worth every penny! read more

Granted my last trip from Austin to Houston on Vonlane was pre-pandemic, so this review is long overdue. I highly recommend it, especially for business travel. If you're going to downtown Houston from downtown Austin, it's a total no brainer to take Vonlane instead of fighting Houston traffic in your own car. The clean cabin, comfortable seats, friendly service, and stress-free travel is totally worth it. Unfortunately on my bus the Wi-Fi was too spotty to work consistently, but I was able to work in "offline mode" with the nice desk that comes with every seat. We departed and arrived on schedule. The Wi-Fi issue could've just been a one-off on my bus. From newer reviews it sounds like this isn't an issue nowadays. read more

Once upon a time, a long, long, looooong time ago, I could easily travel to and fro from Dallas any time of the day with relative ease. Even with construction. Now the same trip is an absolute nightmare and any time of day is as horrendous as traffic was the day before Thanksgiving circa 1999. All day, every day. Maniac drivers. 18 wheelers galore. After my last trip when an 18 wheeler tire blew and destroyed the front bumper of my brand new car while I was avoiding slamming into the construction wall of death to my left, I swore I'd do anything to avoid driving on this highway to hell. Too many distracted drivers and inexperienced younger drivers with eyes on their phones and not the road. So I took a maiden voyage on Vonlane and never looked back. They even accept toy dogs if kept in the carrier. And no TSA, no airport chaos. Just a comfy seat, food and drinks, free Wi-Fi and peace of mind. The only negative I experienced was the loudmouth dude doing his business hustle loudly on his mobile phone despite the library voice rule to be quiet and respectful to fellow travelers. But there's always gotta be that one guy weather on a plane, train or a bus. Rent a car from nearby love field or Uber once you arrive in Dallas. This is a literal life saver!! read more

Agree with prior reviews that Vonlane is reliable, roomy and timely service. Staff was friendly and attentive. I have used twice between Austin and Frot Worth and price of service is worth it. HOWEVER I do have concern over age of equipment and maintenance. on both occasions I noticed a disconcerting vibration either caused by bad wheel/axle bearing or wheel sets out of balance. Speeds above 6o mph resulted in noticeable vibration. On most recent trip the bottom of my seat cushion kept slipping from frame. Finally while there are complimentary snacks, beverage and sandwiches (on designated meal runs), the sandwiches were comparable to a convenience store pre-packaged variety. read more

If you're on a budget, then Megabus might be more suited for keeping a tight string on your wallet, but if you can afford to splurge a little, go Vonlane all the way. Plush seating, attendant passing through multiple times with complimentary snacks, beverages (you pay for alcohol only), and meals (if you're traveling during meal times), as well as blankets, laptop desks, etc. Bathrooms are kept in tip top condition and there's wifi and outlets all over the place. Since it has limited seats, it's pretty quiet and everyone seemed to respect the nature of sharing a bus with a handful of strangers. What's also nice about this option is because of the pick up/drop off at Hyatt (both in Austin and Houston), if there are any delays or just downtime in general for whatever reason, you can take refuge in the hotel vs having to suffer with the minimal or not even there accommodations via the Megabus "stations." read more

Immaculate bus and staff's goal is exceptional service. They're friendly, funny and always offering soft drinks, snacks, great lunches, and then more snacks after lunch. I sat in a row with single seats and tons of room. Grab a blanket, a lap desk, a bag of popcorn and something to sip on. Easiest and best trip I've ever had!! Totally stress-free, comfortable ride, great service.... wonderful!! I was able to get plenty of work done on my laptop, then rest and listen to podcasts. Update: We were permitted to ride the bus on our trip back home to Dallas (the first attendant that we rode down to Austin with threatened that we likely would not be able to exercise our return trip as we used the restroom too often). The return trip was a completely different experience for all of us. It was a pleasant trip with an attendant that was kind and attentive. We were not treated with contempt for checking on our 80+ year old friends and helping them to the restroom, or scolded for pulling our mask down too often to drink/eat. To be fair, if the return trip was the only segment that we took, I would highly recommend Vonlane to others who are entertaining a group-trip (hence the bump from one-star to three-stars). read more

I travel a lot for work, particularly in the Texas Triangle so Vonlane has been a welcome relief from driving. Very comfortable leather seats with foot/leg rests, on board attendant that takes care of your every need, even free snacks, drinks and meals. It's about the price of a Southwest ticket but much more relaxing, plus about the same amount of time when you consider airport security and travel. Well worth the extra investment to not use other bus lines without the perks. I've used Vonlane three times and look forward to many many more!! read more

Dear central Texas, There is NO better way to go between Austin and Houston or Dallas. Fly, and get there slower than if you just drove. Drive, and get ready for the most boring drive of your life (scenic Denton, anyone?) capped off by the world's finest traffic in Dallas. Just take the Vonlane bus, already. Here's what you get: ultra-comfy seats, acres of room, deep recline, power outlets, wifi, TV, lapdesk, pillow, a sweet almost full-sized bathroom, complimentary beverages (adult!), snacks, and a worry free trip to your destination. The attendants (Zoe and Kat rock!) come by every hour with really decent snacks, drinks, and just to check on your overall well-being. My being is well, and to keep it that way I will NEVER drive or fly to Dallas or Houston again. Lastly, a quick shout-out to Stormy. Ah, Stormy how I love thee. So on my last Vonlane ride I left my Kindle on the bus. That's because I'm a dumbass and I leave things everywhere. At 6:53pm I emailed Vonlane to see if they could retrieve my Kindle thinking "Yeah, maybe in a few days I'll get an email saying the couldn't find it (code for didn't look)." Nope, that's not what happened. Nine minutes (NINE minutes!) after I sent my email Stormy replied saying that they had found the Kindle. Not only that, but Stormy met the bus that had my Kindle on it in Dallas, and put it on a bus for Austin where it would be waiting for me the next day. This was my first trip but not my last. I rode from Fort Worth to Austin and was surprised at every step how incredible of a value proposition this service is to its passengers. Everything was on time, the seats were incredibly comfortable, the wi-fi was spotless, food and drinks plentiful and attendant was always there the moment before you realized you needed her. I honestly believe I accomplished more work on the bus than I did if I was at my office. Special recognition goes to Kelly our attendant. She was absolutely and genuinely kind, service oriented, smiling and meeting every request. She made everyone feel valued and is a wonderful ambassador for your business. This is the best travel option for quick trips between Austin, Houston and Dallas hands down. I took the Vonlane from Austin to Houston this morning. It was a 2 hour and 45 min drive. When I got on a was greeted by the driver and attendant immediately. Extremely friendly and helpful as I got situated in my seat. They recline back if you'd like to nap. The seats recline and are insanely comfortable compared to flying or driving yourself. When you sit down you get a list of complimentary items and a water. The great service continues throughout the trip with offerings of juice, coffee, tea, beverages, muffins, chips, kind bars, and treats. You also can opt in for a pillow, lap desk, earphones, eye mask, toothbrush kit, and so many more options. The drive was comfortable, quiet and easy to work or take a nap. There is complimentary WiFi and at the end you're given chocolate or mints. And any coats or bags they've stored for you on your trip. I will NEVER fly from Austin to Dallas, Fort Worth or Houston ever again. Vonlane was a first class experience from start to finish, the price was HALF that of Southwest Airlines, and by the time you figure in getting to the airport early for security and all that jazz, the time is more or less equivalent. The HUGE difference is, the time in the Vonlane clack is 100% productive. WiFi service allows you to work, check emails, etc., or stream video to your iPad. This evening, on my way home from Fort Worth, we all watched Houston beat LA in game 3 of the World Series. Would have missed it, otherwise. Last but not at all least, the Vonlane staff are total professionals. I can't say enough great things about it! If I had any complaint, it would be that they aren't marketing themselves effectively. They've been around for years, I am their demographic and I haven't heard of them until recently. Now THAT is poor digital marketing through and through! When I first read about Vonlane back in 2014 I sent the info to a friend in Dallas since she makes lots of trips between Dallas and Austin. She loves it, and for the first time, I took Vonlane to and from Dallas last week. I love it, too. Nice, big, comfortable seats (with room to lean back without bothering the person behind you). Decent Wi-Fi. Wonderful attendant who kept bringing snacks the whole trip. On the way back, we got a choice of sandwiches or salads in addition to the snacks and drinks. The driver was perfect; a nice smooth ride both ways. A colleague took Vonlane from Houston to Dallas, and it was the same price each way ($100) and takes 3:45 compared to the 3 hours from Austin to Dallas. It beats the hell out a trip to the airport, going through security, then getting a tiny seat with no legroom. And flights from Austin to Dallas aren't cheap any more. $100 to Vonlane is less than 1/2 the cost of a flight on Southwest, and 10 times as convenient. I have to make a trip to Houston soon, and I'll take Vonlane over driving. Vonlane plus Lyft or Uber when I get there, and I'll gladly leave my pickup in the garage here. Vonlane is indeed a premium bus experience. In all of the ways that they can improve bus travel, they have: onboard amenities and refreshments, courteous service, comfortable seating, hassle-free boarding. There are lots of little surprises (like exit gifts and rotating snacks) and details that make the trip fun. If you're traveling for business, it's a no-brainer unless you're looking to build airline loyalty. If you're paying out of pocket, you'll need to decide if the cost is justified when compared to other bus transport, flying or driving. The areas where Vonlane falls short are really just issues with bus travel generally. Busses are subject to stop-and-go traffic, sudden breaking, and delayed arrival. We had a very unexpected sudden break due to another vehicle, and this caused everything on the bus to go flying. Our attendant immediately began cleaning the cabin, so it was handled as well as it could have been. I was a little disappointed that the attachable tray table was so high that it could not be used as a desk, but their large beanbag lap desks are a suitable alternative. On my recent trip to Dallas, the WiFi was quite unreliable. So, if you plan to get some work done on the internet, do have a backup. (I had a more reliable Verizon Jetpack.) read more

I have to be in Austin for a Retreat next week, but I also want to see friends while I'm in Texas, so it was suggested I take a bus. I'm used to seeing Greyhound or MegaBus. However in Texas they have a bus line called Vonlane. Money well spent. The attendants, Amber and Lesa were very accommodating and cheerful. They smiled I wanted to smile. They brought me water or water was already at my seat, a basket of goodies to choose from for a snack and a salad or sandwich for a meal. Wifi is free, TV and the window view is great. If in Texas and you don't want to drive and dealing with the airport is not an option, check out Vonlane. Worth every penny. read more
