I'm livid rn so I'll keep it short until I can call but I rec'd email 11:27pm last night that my 1:15 direct to NJ was cancelled so I panicked and rearranged my whole itinerary for getting to South Station (incl. skipping breakfast) but just to have opportunity to still get to NJ via an 8:55 (supposedly DIRECT) ride I booked an Uber for $39 ($44 w/tip) and then had to wake up my Son super early (priceless lol) and luckily the 8:55 still had 2 seats available so I booked that. Upon arrival at South Station bus driver informs me that there will be 2 stops so it's NOT DIRECT and so I started researching other options and found out my 1:15 that was cancelled was NOW SHOWING AVAILABLE. WTF!!!! but we're here so we get on the 8:55 only to be told we don't have assigned seats so after 3 attempts of sitting and being moved the driver nicely accommodated us up front because he noticed my frustration. Nevertheless, I hope we make it safely to NY on this run down bus with tattered seats, missing toilet seat and barely working heat. I don't know what I expect from you guys but at the very least a reimbursement for the Uber would be nice and compensation for the loss of sleep if possible. This experience deserves some news air time though because I expected better from you Greyhound. I bought a ticket from Manchester to Boston and the bus driver drove right the stop in Manchester and didn't stop ! I called GreyHound and spoke to a Phillipino call centre, and the agents were just reading from a script. Four agents either hung up on me or pushed me through to a customer survey, without resolving my problem. I had to keep calling back! This is a letter I wrote to the Greyhound company that explains their abusive and fraudulent practices, avoid them if you can: To the Greyhound Company, On Sunday, May 12, my bus (Booking No.: 3160923101) from Framingham, MA to Lee, MA was supposed to depart at 2:45pm from the Framingham Station, I arrived at 2:30pm. There were 4 other people waiting with me for the same bus. The website indicated the bus was delayed 2 hours, so we waited until 4:45pm but still the bus was not there at 4:45pm. At 5:15pm I decided to call a taxi and go home and from my home, I decided to drive to Lee, MA in my own car. On Monday, May 13, I requested a refund from Greyhound, and their response was that I boarded the bus at 4:45pm therefore I am not entitled to a refund. This is an abusive and fraudulent practice and I am demanding an apology and a full refund of my ticket. At this point, I am not doing it for the $31.48 that I lost but for the modus operandi of a company without principles who doesn't care about their customers. I am attaching the receipt from the taxi that picked me up at 5:31pm from the Framingham station and the receipt from the EZ Pass Mass Pike toll indicating that my car took exit 2 in Lee, MA at 7:12pm on May 12th. read more

I booked a trip from Providence to Queens nY 3 days prior departure. The next day I found out the product was sold so I cancelled the trip $60.00 cost. I did not receive a full refund only 15% and then Its a voucher. I contact customer service and received a copy of the policy not any talk about getting a credit back to my card, and a discounnect imedialtly after the link was deleiverd. I'm writing as a concerned customer. I recently returned home via Greyhound bus... 3 hours later than planned. I'd like to share with you the issues I experienced as a passenger in the hopes that others will not experience what I just did. As a paying customer, I expect not to be treated like chattel or garbage, yet that is how your staff at the NYC Port Authority terminal treated everyone onboard US0230 from NYC to Boston. Lack of Communication Upon arriving an hour early for our bus, my companion and I were shocked to see passengers still waiting for a bus scheduled to depart two hours prior. Certainly something terrible had happened to cause such a delay, we thought. We were wrong. It was just a normal day of extreme delays at Greyhound. There were no updates coming in, so we only had to wait and wait. We saw the bus board 2 hrs late, then the next one 1.25hrs late. Worried about the punctuality of our own trip, I called customer service. Or should I call it "customer service," because it's then that I found out you don't have an accessible customer service department, only a generic comment box on your website that I can only imagine goes into an endless void. The person on the other end (in booking, not customer service, because you don't have that) shared that there is no way for Greyhound to know the location of buses or whether they will be on time or not. I find it incredibly challenging to believe that a large corporation does not have this functionality. Rather, I think staff are willfully opaque, even deceitful in withholding that information. NO ONE told us the bus would arrive late until 7:50 pm, 70 minutes after the listed departure time. I find this unacceptable. Neither the app nor the website indicated a late arrival. When gate staff finally came to address us, they rudely and coldly informed us that the bus would not depart until 10 pm, 3 hrs and 10 mins past the time on the ticket I paid money for. The reason? Because the driver was in town but refused to drive us until 10 pm. I find this incident particularly egregious, as we were told of the delay only after the last bus (on a much more reliable competitor) had departed. Had we been informed of the delay earlier, we could have made arrangements to get home that would leave us at South Station at 2 m. We were trapped by the incompetence and cruelty of your capricious and rude staff. This is unacceptable. Furthermore, when we returned to the station at 9:30 pm, the agent at the Information desk coldly laughed and said "That took off already!" This caused undue panic for us as we ran down multiple flights of stairs, fearing that we had lost our last chance back home. As I mentioned, I tried to contact customer service, only to be told that there's no people who work there, only an email. When I reached out on Twitter, I was told the false information that I couldn't receive a refund because the trip was completed. Your own website states: "If your bus was delayed by 120 minutes or more on departure, you can request a refund for the price of the ticket. Contact us and fill out the request. Poor Service Upon boarding the Greyhound bus, we noticed that it was smaller, dirtier, and more rickety than the Flix bus we rode in on. The AC barely worked, leading to a miserable 4+ hour drive. While I understand riding Greyhound is not expected to be a luxury experience, I certainly don't anticipate being surrounded by hot garbage while the bus shakes like it's going to fall apart. Furthermore, how can a company operate without accessible customer service? Email-only interactions do not allow for nuanced conversations and comprehensive information gathering. I find it a sign that Greyhound is aware of the sub-par (to put it lightly) service it provides and doesn't want to hear from customers (who keep all business running). How to make it right I request the following: An apology. I would not allow anyone I love or care for in the least to engage in Greyhound's services if they would be treated the way my friend and I were. We were kept intentionally in the dark on vital information, mocked, and disrespected. The only person to whom I would recommend Greyhound is someone for whom my contempt was so strong that their existence is offensive to me. I would appreciate acknowledgment of what we've been through and the unacceptable nature of our experience. I can't imagine this is the customer experience you dream about when leading your company. Not to be confused with Gayhound Bus Lines, which is basically a very very very very homophobic company that nobody should ever use, especially if you are LGBTQ because you'll be hounded constantly during the journey. This was the second Greyhound station in the United States that I ever went to (after Port Authority, whose Authority I do not recognize), and I've been to like a hundred of them since then (probably 300). This one has a lot of memories for me, and it's located in the back of the beautiful South Station in Boston. What a gorgeous building with a beautiful facade - instantly recognizable and right in front of you as you get off the highway, especially these days coming up out of the big dig tunnels. Such a beautiful location for bus station, but it makes it a little hard to traipse all the way through the train station section of it to get to where the buses are, and can take forever sometimes. It puts the lug in luggage. But it's a lot better than people are giving it credit for that's for sure, and I like it more than Port Ausmellity. People in New England are spoiled by mass transit so, that explains the reviews. read more

Awful! Paid extra to pick my seats. Somebody was sitting in the seats I chose. The bus drivers response to me asking about it was "why are you making a big deal out of it? You have a seat". The person who had my seat then started to harass me and my 14 year old daughter. As we were leaving he pulled out a knife. One of the other passengers made the driver stop. The driver didn't appreciate having to stop or having to deal with the situation and tried to intimidate the person reporting the passenger with the knife. Had to get off the bus because my daughter was so scared. I was actually pretty rattled as well. read more

I wish it was possible to provide negative stars. I stopped using Greyhound about 5 years ago and had been using Amtrak which was much better. I tried to give it another go and turns out, nothing was better, it only got worse. Somehow their WiFi is worse than it used to be. Instead of sometimes working, it didn't work at all. They now offer wifi packages you can buy, but those don't work either. I bought the gold packaged and never got it to work in any capacity. They refused to give me a refund and only offer a voucher that expires in 3 months. I really don't see any reason to take the bus over Amtrak. On October 26, 2024, my sister and I arrived on time for our trip to Boston, which was scheduled for 12:05 AM. We had a very long day prior and were extremely tired and anxious to go home. While waiting in line for our bus, we noticed that a bus had arrived around 12:10-12:15 AM. The driver got off and left, leaving the bus empty. There were no staff members nearby to inform us about the situation or whether the driver would return. At some point, a staff member walked past us and the large crowd waiting in line, stating that they were looking for the driver and that he would arrive in five minutes. As we waited, we checked the trip's status, which indicated a delay, noting that the bus would now leave at 12:35 AM. We also received a notification confirming this delay. Time went by, and it was past 12:35 AM. At that point, our legs were tired and hurting from standing in line, and we had no available seats to rest or place our bags. We felt very confused and tried to find a staff member, but no one was around. After several minutes, we checked the trip status and realized it had been changed to 4:00 AM. I was surprised to learn this. We decided to stay in line and look for someone to confirm this, but we couldn't find a staff member until much later. Eventually, a staff member arrived and told the crowd that we could either wait until 4:00 AM for the bus or cancel the trip and leave. He didn't offer much explanation for what was happening or provide any alternatives for the four-hour delay. He also didn't apologize for the inconvenience. We were very disappointed about the situation, but since we didn't have any other option, we decided to take the bus that would leave at 4:00 AM instead of canceling the trip. We realized we needed to charge our cell phones to ensure they lasted until our departure, but there were no outlets at the station. We had the digital tickets in our email, and without a charged phone, we wouldn't be able to show the driver the tickets. We asked the same staff member who informed us about the four-hour delay to please direct us to an outlet. He vaguely pointed out where we might find one and asked us to give him our phones to charge them. I inquired about where he would be taking our phones, but he ignored my question and remained silent. This made me feel doubtful and untrusting of him, so I decided to go outside at around 1:00 AM. After a long walk searching for a place to charge our phones, we returned and encountered another staff member who asked us which bus we were taking. When we told him we were headed to Boston, he casually mentioned that the bus to Boston had already left. At first, we thought he was joking because of the way he spoke to us, but when we realized he was telling the truth, we were shocked. We explained that we had no idea the bus had left, as we hadn't received a notification, and shared what a staff member had said earlier. He didn't believe us and tried to blame us for leaving the station. He said that he couldn't do anything for us. At that point, I was so upset that I complained to him about the company, his incompetence, and the lack of communication. I asked him to at least help us change our tickets since nothing else was leaving for Boston at an earlier time, and I wasn't going to pay for a new ticket when I had already purchased one. He then decided to help us by changing our ticket to 7:00 AM, which was the only time available for departure. Clearly, he was able to help us, but he just didn't want to bother at first. You have no idea how frustrating it was to learn that we would be leaving much later and that we had to spend the night at a station where there were no available seats, no outlets, no sense of security, and no staff who cared about customers. We spent the night on the cold floor, causing us significant discomfort and pain that we are still feeling today. Eventually, we discovered on our own that the station had a portable phone charger machine. If a staff member had cared enough to inform us, we would not have had to venture out so late at night to find an outlet, and we would not have missed our bus. We ended up leaving at 7:00 AM and arrived in Boston close to 1:00 PM. We had anticipated getting home much earlier to catch up on sleep and run some errands, but that didn't happen. I did a roundtrip, total 18+ hours, my first trip I was at a seat that did not have a charging outlet for no reason. It looked like every other seat did. The wifi did not work on either trip. On my second trip the bus driver stopped way less. We had a period of almost for hours with no stop. It was sweltering hot on the bus. Me and the girl next to me, and the people across the aisle were visibly sweating. I felt like I was going to pass out, there is absolutely no air flow. We're limited to a combo of Greyhound/Concord to get my son to/from college. It's freshman year, he's traveled three times, and Greyhound has been late every single time. I finally lodged a complaint, and their response was, one, they couldn't find a problem with the most recent trip (the bus left at the time he should have arrived); two, it isn't their fault because they have no control over circumstances (every time?); and three, they couldn't provide the refund I requested (I didn't request a refund). We're decidedly unimpressed both with their ability to schedule and with their response to a complaint. But they do need to keep reminding people to behave courteously. Please answer your phones. I just had a miserable experience with a bus driver at Greyhound. Our bus was late and there was a mix up with the boarding gate. As the driver was about to control our tickets, he started to argue with another driver. The tone started to escalate. Since we were late, I asked him if we could please board. He turned to me and told me to "shut up". I protested and he told me to calm down and that I should not interrupt him. I told him he was the one who should calm down. He then asked me to step aside to let the other passengers board, and threatened to not let us board. We had to wait for all the passengers to board until he finally deigned to let us board. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. A driver doesn't get to tell a customer to shut up, and doesn't threaten to not honor a reservation. I am thoroughly disappointed and upset about this extremely unpleasant customer experience. I will also add that drivers arguing in front of customers is a very poor reflection on Greyhound. OK so I said that GoBuses was the worst and I lied. GREYHOUND LOWERED THE BAR EVEN MORE. There wasn't enough engine coolant when we took off from NYC headed to Boston. So, 1hr into our journey, we had to pull over on the side of 678 and wait for a new bus. We were there for over 3 full hours. In the meantime, a man got stuck in the bathroom because a lock was sticky. I was lucky I was able to sleep for part of that time, but others were not so lucky. Instead of being back in Boston at 11:30, we landed at 3:30 AM. Customer service wants me to wait 24 hours until after this happened to call and complain. They're just procrastinating the inevitable. I'll be damned if I don't get a refund. Also, most of the outlets on the bus didn't work. Lame. Just don't do it kids. Y'all are worth more. read more

This is by far, the worst bus travel experience I had. The bus attendant (who should help the customers) was extremely rude and disrespectful. I only asked to find my seat, her first response was "why are you talking to me, go ask the driver". I told her I do not mean to bother her but my ticket has no seat number, ahe said "don't you understand! Go to the driver". Honestly told myself I wouldn't use greyhound ever again after some bad experiences in the past... but because my usual bus company didn't have any departure times that fit my schedule, I had no choice but to book with Greyhound. And within 5 seconds of arriving at the terminal I was immediately reminded why I had decided to switch. I arrived for my 7 pm boarding to find a long line of restless passengers who had not yet boarded their bus that was suppose to leave at 6 pm. Their bus was still on its way and because of the delay, my 7 pm bus would be delayed to accommodate this first batch of passengers. I get it, buses get into traffic...but to be delayed for over an hour is ridiculous and could easily be fixed if more buses were in service. Luckily my bus ended leaving Boston at 7:35 ( a 35 min delay that's not as bad compared to the 75 min delay of the 6pm group) and we surprisingly ended up arriving in New York around the same time as originally planned. Had we arrived way later, I would have been more upset but luckily that wasn't the case. I did appreciate how the bus driver was super apologetic throughout the ride so it did alleviate some of my frustrations. Would I ride greyhound again? Only when desperate times call for desperate measures. Aside from the delay, I found some staff to be rude and the bus smelled like urine (I know, gross). I did notice some changes to their system from the last time I rode with them that I appreciate-such as they now accept electronic tickets so it's no longer necessary to print out your tickets. However, my trip made it more apparent how there are still flaws that they need to work on so I'll continue to use my usual bus company to provide for my travel needs. read more

This trip was not going well. My bus in queens village was over an hour late which kept me from making my connection to PA. Greyhound had no more trips available for me today. I was annoyed that I had to wait an hour with no alert or update from greyhound but I was pissed that I missed my connection and it seemed my trip was impossible. BRITTANY C! Terrible company! They don't care about the passengers...PERIOD! Had a trip scheduled for a 12:50 departure. After waiting until 1:10, I called customer service to see where the bus was. This is when i was informed the bus left the station at 12:24! Was given no explanation/reason asto why the bus left 26 mins early, and only offered to be rebooked on next bus. at 2pm. Immediately after being rebooked I received a message that the bus was delayed until 2:55pm. Went out to the gate at 2:45pm to wait for the bus. Saw a greyhound bus (literally the only bus i ad seen since i arrived at the station) approach. It pulled into the driveway/parking lto, drive straight to the exit, pull ont the road and drive away. The bus didn't stop at a gate, hell it barely even slowed down through the parking lot. This time when i called customer service they kept saying because i missed the bus the only thing they could do was rebook me...and were going to "do me a favor" and waive the rebooking fees. Have since requested a refund for my trip and received only message stating that since the bus wasn't 2 hour late or cancelled i did not qualify for a refund. While ticket prices are extremely attractive you are best to steer clear of this company. This company should be investigated and shut down. I have travelled a few times with greyhound. Even without the delays and bus cancellations, the ride itself is not up to the expectations. There are cheaper bus services with the same level of comfort. I would have rated it 3 star if not for my latest travel experience with greyhound. On our return trip from New York to Boston, the 5:30 PM bus got cancelled. No other greyhound bus was available the same day. They offered to accommodate us on a bus next day or get the ticket refunded. But since we did not have a place to stay in New York so we decided to simply get a refund instead. However, the representative at the terminals tells us that we will have to call greyhound to get our refund. We call greyhound and they ask us to submit a request via the website. Apparently, the customer service cannot handle refund requests over the call. So we raise the refund request and it gets denied saying that we did not purchase some 'flexi' tickets so we cannot get a refund. In summary, they are simply running a fraud business, where they will offer you two ticket variants. One is cheaper than the 'flexi' version. If you book the cheaper option, the bus never shows up and your ticket money is not refunded. read more

Oh wow, where do I begin. The bathroom door was busted so it kept on swinging the whole trip. At least it locked when you used it. This was our bus to New York City. The return trip was uneventful. We got this whole speech from the driver about how if there was any issue between passengers, he would pull over and kick you off and call the cops, didn't matter who's fault it was. I knew she was going to be a problem as we were boarding because she was hostile to other passengers, and was screaming that the bathroom "smelled like puss" but she ended up sleeping most of the trip. But when she woke up though, all hell broke loose. Straight out yelling and screaming that the bus was taking too long as we got into New York City. She was swearing, dropping f-bombs and calling the driver an a-hole, see-you-next-Tuesday (if you catch the meaning) and screaming. She was threatening to jump out the window (another passenger offered her a hand), light the bus on fire, and making a comment THAT THE DRIVER WILL HAVE A DEAD BODY ON HIS HANDS. What did this guy do? "Settle down, just settle down now." Said this once over the PA system, That was it. I wanted to f'king say something, but my wife was having none of it as she didn't want TO HAVE NO WAY BACK HOME BECAUSE WE WERE BOOTED FROM GREYHOUND BECAUSE OF THEIR SUPPOSED 'ZeRo ToLeRaNcE PoLiCy' FOR FIGHTING BETWEEN PASSENGERS. Yet, we had to uncomfortably sit there and listen to this psychotic woman make threats and disturb the peace. Maybe if the bus driver did boot this woman, I would use the service again. I'm all set. Worst bus ever. They cancelled the bus not letting me and they didn't apologize to be cancelled. That made me get on to another bus but it will take extra time to go. Everyone don't make reservation. I'm not going to use this bus again. I even don't want to give them 1star. So uncomfortable and so unrespectable. read more

Lack of professionalism and courtesy and care. Take Greyhound only for short trips, not recommended for traveling for more than 2 hours. --- Late Sunday afternoon while traveling from Boston to NYC, I had an issue with my e-ticket. I went over to the counter with my confirmation number and had the ticket re-printed. When my bus arrived, the driver scanned my ticket and received an error. Another attendant took my ticket to the counter and came back only to tell me that I needed to go over to the counter myself. The same 3 people who helped me print the ticket before were still there. A man told me that the ticket was reprinted and that there was nothing he could do as all of the buses were sold out. I asked him if I could get on the bus since I received the email with my confirmation number this morning. He said he couldn't do anything. Pleading, I asked him what I could do and he said all of the buses were sold out and could have cared less about the problem. Eventually, I left the station and had to take the train back to New York. This experience, and similar ones I have encountered, proves that Greyhound as a whole does a poor job of communicating changes to their customers during travel. Delays, changes or cancellations are often unknown until the passenger arrives to the station. Therefore, the station attendants are often left with confused and angry customers and the employees are not trained to help or handle these situations and give an attitude to every frustrated customer who comes up to the desk. Greyhound needs a revamp of their entire customer service system and district managers in major who train associates how to handle traveling customers. Rather than dismissing me, the associate should have offered a solution for my poor experience. read more

Was returning from NYC to Boston for work on Monday morning. Bus was at 8:10 pm Sunday. We waited in line for about 30 minutes and was told bus got cancelled - there was no other bus times available that day and all trains were booked out. Ended up crashing at friends place and leaving next morning at 6 am. Very irresponsible service. read more

How the hell do you assign a driver to a long route who doesn't know the route?! We left 40 minutes late. The driver has no idea where he's driving to and a passenger has to direct him. Maybe he's been put in a difficult position by the company, but it's not okay for Greyhound to have a driver who doesn't know where he's supposed to be going. I paid 47 dollars for what? Just thinking about writing this review makes me so angry. My boyfriend and I are some of the most organized and detail-oriented people we know, but apparently Greyhound wanted to disprove us or make us feel completely screwed over. Our bus tickets from New York to Boston were purchased online. We arrived to our terminal 45 minutes early and waited in line patiently. When one of the staff members made logistical announcements, we listened carefully and mentally checked off all the reminders he told us. When we finally got to the front of the line, we presented our tickets on our mobile devices but were DENIED!!! Apparently these needed to be physically printed and presented. After the fact, I checked the email and signs around the terminal, and there was NO indication we needed to do this. Plus, the staff member said something about such an important announcement. The bus driver made us run upstairs to print our tickets, but the line was too long, and the customer service agents kept saying they couldn't print them. When all was said and done, we returned to the terminal with our printed tickets just in time to see the bus leave without us. It was already 7PM and the next bus wasn't scheduled to depart until 10PM. We couldn't even be guaranteed a seat on that bus. What the f*** century are we living in that we need to print our tickets and customer service agents can't even provide decent customer service?! Screw you, Greyhound. I've never felt so angry in my life, and the bitterness still lingers because of the crap operation you run. read more

my boss was scheduled to leave at 10:05 AM. Just before 10 AM I checked on the greyhound website and it said that the bus was delayed and wouldn't arrive until 10:28 AM. So I went to the bathroom. I came back, and the bus had arrived, loaded the 7 passenger, and taken off. I spoke to two different Greyhound employees, and they would not refund my ticket even though I had a screenshot proving that they had informed me that 10:28 AM was the expected pick up time, and that I was on the phone with them by 10:10 AM complaining that the bus at already left. The next bus didn't leave until four hours later, and I had to pay for another ticket, and I missed my transfer. You can't trust theit website to give accurate timing. read more
