Absolutely horrific experience dealing with the customer service, receiving the run around and false information. They took my money despite never using or taking the Greyhound bus because a default and error on their (Greyhound.com) website. This company charged me never gave me a confirmation number; I still went to the bus station in which they could not help me. Called a greyhound representative, missed the bus at this point had to spend more money on a rental car all because they could not get their stupid site to work. Absolutely Horrifying Experience - Avoid Greyhound at All Costs I had one of the most traumatizing travel experiences of my life on a Greyhound bus, and I feel compelled to warn others -- especially families -- to stay far away from this company. The bus driver was shockingly aggressive from the moment he decided I was responsible for a loud tablet (which wasn't even mine). He incorrectly assumed the noise was coming from my device, despite the fact that I was wearing wired headphones and quietly playing Sudoku. He stormed over, pointed his finger in my face, and began berating me with belittling, ageist, and blatantly racist language, including calling me a "dumbass" and using an unforgivable racial slur. All of this was happening while I was traveling with a 10-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy -- who were both better behaved than the adult bus driver. The situation escalated so quickly and bizarrely that I had to contact Greyhound customer service mid-ride. To their credit, they sounded concerned and told my parents and me where to file a report -- but this only seemed to aggravate the driver further. Once he realized my parents were meeting us at the terminal and that I wasn't some "young girl" he could push around, he suddenly tried to remove me from the bus, claiming he didn't know "who I had waiting for him." It was so irrational that even law enforcement had to get involved, and the police had to tell him multiple times to calm down. The most heartbreaking part? My little brother was so scared, he refused to touch his tablet again, even though the volume had already been turned all the way down. He kept tapping me to "turn it off" because the driver's behavior had left him so shaken. At one point, the driver even shouted, "Whoever you're calling can come pick you up off the side of the road." Completely unprofessional and threatening. I've since followed up by filing a formal complaint, and no one from Greyhound has gotten back to me. Try to use this bus line on 11/22/23. Disorganized, delayed, unaccommodating. All my least favorite things about traveling. Got to the boarding area around 6:15pm. The trip was from 6:50pm NYC to 10:40pm Baltimore. It was the Washington line. Stood in a line to only figure out it was the 5:50 pm bus boarding which was an hour late. Got rejected. My dumb self stood in the line until 8:50 pm waiting for a bus that seems like it was never going to come. I left to get on an Amtrak. Never late on the Amtrak. It definitely left on time unlike Greyhound. While standing in that crowd for two hours, we didn't see any workers until 8:10pm, it was like they were hiding from us. The workers announcements were not clear and were not repeated. Btw, all the announcements were for trips prior to 6pm. Feels like they did not give two cents about what was happening. Save yourself before it's too late. Like really late. A 4 hour trip easily becomes an 8 hour trip at Greyhound. Absolutely never again. read more

Getting tickets is pretty easy as long as u do it online or on your phone. Boarding the buses seems to be a hit or miss situation, either u get lucky & all goes smoothly or u are crazy delayed & have no choice to wait it out. The buses for the most part are comfy & from my last 2 trips were clean, not so much on time once yes the other no , patience is the key when you don't have any other choice u have to deal with it as best as possible. always recommended to arrive early depending on your destination, seems like it's always best if u don't want to get stuck in separate seats since there is no assign seating. over all is a good option to take , prices are reasonable & they have good schedules for the most part, as long as u have your tickets & don't need to deal with them directly it will be fine. read more

I'm a disabled black female, who has a disabled older sister. I paid extra money to sit in the front seat of the bus because of all the medical issues my sister and I have! The bus company changed our seats two times. The first time wasn't bad, it was only one row behind. But then at 2:23 PM, I got another email stating they changed the seats again. The bus departed at 2:50 PM. I went directly to the bus station desk clerk, who stated they had nothing to do with Greyhound. But she gave me the phone number and said call right away. It took forever to contact them, and when I did, they were talking about giving me a voucher. I was confused, disgusted and overwhelmed all at the same time. I just wanted to get home. Not only did they change the seats to the last row, it was next to the smelly, funky bathroom. I was so sick on that ride, I threw up two times. Between a headache and nausea, it was crazy. I was sick for the rest of the night! And now the next day a customer service representative for Greyhound is stating they will only give me a voucher for the money paid extra for the seats. I paid cash, why would you give me a voucher? I don't ever want to take this transportation again. The rep then stated I could give it to someone. I don't recommend anyone using this company. I would like my money back the same way I paid it out! The customer service representative had no customer service! He didn't care about the customer or them being a disabled person. When asking to speak to a supervisor, he stated the supervisor is very busy and I would be on hold for a while. When asking for another supervisor, he stated he only has access to one supervisor. As we walked in the Port Authority terminal, there is visible signage to where GBL terminal for DC is located. There is a locator board for additional information if needed. Boarding gate and level of the terminal is clearly posted. I liked how they separated by ticket number range the lines where the commuter needs to get in line. GRAYHOUND IS A FU'kin scam!!!!! I purchased two tickets for a day event round trip but ended up cancelling less than 24 hrs ( 6days ) before my trip due to personal reasons. After paying 247 bucks including seats, I called customer service to cancel only for them to charge me a cancellation fee of 135 bucks and only refunded me 112 dollar voucher which I stated I do not want. Yesterday, I took Greyhound from DC to New York. The bus was supposed to leave at 8:15 PM. I got to Union Station at 8 PM. The dispatcher asked me if I was waiting for the bus to New York. I said yes. He told me the bus was running 20 minutes late. I headed to the dingy waiting room. As I waited, a disheveled woman kept asking people for cigarettes. Twenty minutes later, I got back on line. The dispatcher said it would be another 15 minutes. As I waited, I saw a Peter Pan bus heading for New York. Out of desperation, I tried to flag down the driver. I was willing to pay for a ticket. The dude kept driving. The bus arrived at 8:50. The dispatcher said that the driver would be back in 5 minutes since he had to use the bathroom. He took more than 5 minutes (he should've kept it real and said that he had to take a dump). At 9:05, we were finally able to get on. And guess what? The bus was packed with people from down south. I was under the impression that an empty bus would show up. I was forced to sit in the aisle seat that I utterly despise. I'm 6'1" and there was no legroom. I had to sit diagonally so my knees wouldn't get crushed. The bus left at 9:15. Right after the bus left Union Station, the driver had a shouting match with a passenger since he was playing his music loud. Also, there was an annoying kid who kept screaming (fortunately, he fell asleep an hour into the journey). The ride was bumpy. As expected, we arrived in the Big Apple an hour late. Absolutely Horrible! I made a sudden decision to go to Atlantic City, so I decided taking the bus would be best.. I opted for Greyhound, and regretted every minute of it. Since I saw no Pro's, I'll just list the Con's. 1. When I went on the website to purchase the tickets, I noticed something called a gift fee. I was confused and decided to call customer service-- I was informed that if the card (whether debit or credit) don't match the traveler, you're charged a gift fee of $18. I found this to be a terrible business practice. 2. I arrived at Port Authority around 3:25; my bus was scheduled for 3:30, so I wanted to get some cash from Chase. My girlfriend stayed by the bus, she called me and told me the driver didn't want to wait two minutes while I ran back, and took off!! Upon my return, I was told I needed to go change my ticket with customer service. 3) the customer service department was horrid, no exaggeration. They have a guy who walks around "allegedly to help people" but all he does is say you need to wait on the line. They have four spots for "employees to work" but only two up there were walking. They literally had two women at the counter just standing there talking to each, but have 30 people on line waiting. The staff could careless, everyone became restless and frustrated. I wanted to catch the 4PM bus but it took me 45 minutes to finally get up to the counter. The so called employee was extremely rude, tells me I shouldn't have been late and several other smart remarks. They charge me a $20 fee per ticket to change to a different bus ( it's be in cash). Also, they changed my return trip, for some odd reason, and wouldn't give me a reason why. 4. The bus arrived 45 minutes late, no announcement, no apology, nothing!! 5. On my way trip home, the bus was 25 minutes late and the driver and greyhound employee got into a verbal dispute. They stopped the bus which almost led to a physical dispute and they screamed at each other for 45 minute, again, no exaggeration! Please, do not patronize this despicable company. If this were the Greyhound Cuss Lines then all of the drivers would swear constantly. If this were the Greyhound Wuss Lines then the employees would all be very scared of everything. And if it were the Greyhound Pus Lines then the people travelling on these buses would have open sores that were going septic. Oh wait. Crap. All of those things are true. Not really. I have mixed feelings about Greyhound of NYC. On the one hand, I love that the company connects the whole country to each other and I think they did a great job of making it possible for people in X city to get to people in Y city reliably and easily. The pricing is pretty good too. If you could count the number of buses on an antiquated form of counting, it'd be the Abacus Bus Lines. However on the other hand, the buses are extremely uncomfortable. AC is usually nowhere near high enough. It's nearly impossible to sleep on here. They smell horrendous (partly due to the bathroom, partly due to anyone being allowed to ride on here including people that haven't washed in 6 months, and because it's the cheapest way to go, this is the way they go, and partly due to not cleaning the buses properly). They are often full to the brim, they are often leaving late, sometimes very late. There are often altercations between travelers. Need I go on? If this company took over Austria, then it would be the Greyhound Anschuss Lines. I used to take Greyhounds everywhere because I was poor. I'm still poor, but I have much better taste in transportation these days. If you have enough money, you should always, always, always take the train, or drive, or be driven, instead. That's my advice. And if the government regulated this company, it'd become the Greyhound Antitrust Lines. As for the bus station they operate from, I've already described it in a previous review. I used to practically live at Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC and Greyhound of NYC basically knew my name (wild exaggeration, I think some of them don't even know their own names). Let's just say that it's not my favourite place, not by a long shot. It smells awful. The security guards can be brutal. I've seen the police harassing people down here. I've seen one case of police brutality down here. And I've had to spend one too many nights down here waiting for an early morning or late night bus. It's probably one of the least comfortable places I've ever spent a night in my life. And not particularly safe either, despite all the police presence. If you've figured out how to ride these buses for free, then it's the Greyhound Suss Lines. So all in all, it's 3 stars for Greyhound. The concept of the company is a 5/5, the pricing is 4/5, but the actual execution and comfort level are more like a 1/5 (although I appreciate that they now have outlets and wifi on some buses, which they did not used to have). So all in all it scores a mediocre 3. And if you're wearing boots and are a feeline, it's the Greyhound Puss Lines (but beware, you'll probably get hit on by everything with a heartbeat on this bus, and probably some things with no heartbeats). Luckily, as I said, I rarely use it anymore. I either drive to NYC or I take the train. I don't ever want to be at the Port Authority again, and yet I find myself coming back just for the memories, or to meet Eva and beg her to make out with me. Greyhound formed such a large part of my childhood, from when I was a teenager right up until recently. I once had a horrible fight with an ex at Greyhound NYC too. Haunting memories. You let your employees (bus drivers) talk down to customers and throw customers off the bus because you tell the bus driver to stop being rude and sarcastic. Inefficient, unprofessional, and inconsiderate are the best ways to describe Greyhound services. It should not take 9 hours to get from NYC to Boston. I expect to leave one place and be at my destination in around 4 hours, maybe even be okay with a 5 or 6 hour trip if the traffic is that bad. BUT for it to take 9 HOURS (more than double the time it should really take) to get from NYC to Boston is simply ridiculous.   My bus was scheduled to leave NYC at 7:00pm and arrive in Boston at 11:20 pm. However, we ended up leaving NYC at 10:30 pm, arriving in Boston at 3:40 AM. I get that bus departures can be delayed, but we were delayed for over 3 hours. Plus, there was no sincere effort to try to make the situation better-- no consolation was offered and not once did greyhound explain why our 7:00 pm bus never showed up.  So for a good 2 hours, no one (not even the port authority attendants) knew when the next bus would show up. We were just told to "hang in there, it will probably arrive soon", only to find out too late that we would get priority seating for the next scheduled bus at 10:30pm. Simply ridiculous. To make matters even WORSE, once we arrived in Boston, it seemed that our bus driver did not know how to get to South Station Bus Terminal. I can't count the number of times we aimlessly drove around Newbury Street, only to have the bus be almost stuck while trying to make this very tight turn into the parking lot of an apartment complex (??? which is not a roadway for large buses to be on) and then to drive aimlessly around god-knows-where tryna get to South Station. I've ridden Greyhound multiple times to know that they will never give you things that they promise. They are always late and have no sense of customer service. And it is not just this one trip, but countless other times I have ridden with them. However, my last trip is enough for me to draw the line... Absolute dogshit! You have better luck walking to Atlantic City before the bus shows up to the port Authority. Apparently the people upstairs in the office do not have dispatch to the bus rides that have a specific number. We waited two hours for the bus scheduled for 1:30pm. An announcement was made at 1:25pm that the bus was at the George Washington bridge so we would have a slight delay. Two hours later after no announcement the bus showed up. They said they would announce as soon as it was there. They did no such thing. While waiting for two hours my partner called the company number because the office upstairs had zero answers or knew what dispatch was. While on the phone they asked for the bus number, the time and all these things that had nothing to do with the main point. Where is the bus? can you contact the bus with dispatch? The person on the line misgendered my partner and called him "mam" when he is a he which hurt his feelings a lot. Person on the phone said they don't have dispatch because the company number we called is based outside the USA‍‍‍ Absolute dogshit they looked at us like we had turds hanging out of our mouth when we used the term dispatch. Planes, cabs, school busses, security teams, engineering, maintenance companies, grounds keeping a golf course for crying out loud use dispatch. But not greyhound apparently. So I bought a chicken salad from their food services and the chicken salad had a bug on it. I went and showed the lady who sold it to me. First she denied it and said, "it's part of the lettuce." Then I opened the lettuce and showed her again and she said, "oh shit. You right." I asked for a refund. She said I could take whatever I want. I was on the phone with a representative and he expressed how my reservation might get cancelled because the bus was under reconstruction. Mind you, the minimum wait time if I decided to wait was at least 3 hours. When I tried to cancel, he told me that there's a cancellation fee despite it not being my fault. I had to fill out a refund request form to ask for a refund that isn't even guaranteed. Once I booked another service, I later found out that the bus that I was supposed to board was actually running. From canceling our express bus and placing us on another bus with multiple stops we were already irritated BUT happy to be not stranded in New York and going home. But no. It can't just be that easy. A five an a half hour bus trip back to Boston with multiple stops became everyone's nightmare. The bus had no heat or no lights. I kid you not no heat in 17 degree weather for over five hours. No lights. Not even track lights. Pitch black. Called greyhound for an explanation and refund and they offered me a twenty dollar voucher for further travel with them. Oh wow, where do I begin. We returned home from this terminal, it was an uneventful ride, except for the panhandlers in the terminal (fifth one in 16 hours). Out trip from Boston was however quite eventful. The bathroom door was busted so it kept on swinging the whole trip. At least it locked when you used it. This was our bus to New York City. We got this whole speech from the driver about how if there was any issue between passengers, he would pull over and kick you off and call the cops, didn't matter who's fault it was. Failed ro deliver on this promise. Woman on this bus was straight up CRAZY. I knew she was going to be a problem as we were boarding because she was hostile to other passengers, and was screaming that the bathroom "smelled like puss" but she ended up sleeping most of the trip. But when she woke up though, all hell broke loose. Straight out yelling and screaming that the bus was taking too long as we got into New York City. She was swearing, dropping f-bombs and calling the driver an a-hole, see-you-next-Tuesday (if you catch the meaning) and screaming. She was threatening to jump out the window (another passenger offered her a hand), light the bus on fire, and making a comment THAT THE DRIVER WILL HAVE A DEAD BODY ON HIS HANDS. She continued on in this fashion and screaming during the ride for the last half hour of the trip. What did this guy do. "Settle down, just settle down now." Said thus once over the PA system. That was it. I wanted to f'king say something, but my wife was having none of it as she didn't want TO HAVE NO WAY BACK HOME BECAUSE WE WERE BOOTED FROM GREYHOUND BECAUSE OF THEIR SUPPOSED ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR FIGHTING BETWEEN PASSENGERS. The absolute worst company ever! Very confusing and extremely unfair refund policy. I had to cancel my trip due to a family emergency and they would not give me a refund, even though it was over 14 days before the trip. They basically just stole $100 from me as far as I'm concerned. Even the airlines offer refunds these days. They offered me a voucher for my trip that was worth less than HALF of what I paid for the tickets. Unlike my trip from Philly to NYC, my bus was a little more modern with a notch more leg room. There was a delay in boarding and departure. A technician was audible called to the gate over the loudspeaker. The driver made an announcement that the electrical outlets weren't working. It sounded like a cover story to me. After 25 minutes we received an announcement that only half the outlets are working. Ok, who cares?! Can we go home? It had to have been something else. Our driver also thought he was going to Pittsburgh. I'm not sure if that was a joke or he misspoke but I didn't find that entertaining, unlike the rest of the bus who roared with laughter. It was apparently his first professional drive to Philly, as he later told us. The floor was sticky but we made it. Only 20 minutes behind schedule. You get what you pay for, I suppose. read more

After a pleasant bus experience with Greyhound back in November, I booked a return trip with Greyhound after another stay in New York. This experience was not so pleasant. We arrived a little before 7pm for a 7:30pm departure. The ticket stated that the bus will board at 7:10pm. By 7:15pm, all of the passengers were lined up and ready to go. The only problem was, our bus and driver were nowhere in sight. There was a bus parked, but it was the 6:30pm bus that hadn't left yet (I'm glad that wasn't my bus, and I feel for the people who were passengers on that one). I think the issue was they didn't have a bus driver. As we anxiously awaited to get on the bus to go to DC, the Greyhound worker made some announcements, such as where to line up according to your boarding number, and verified bus tickets. He gave us constant updates: the bus driver is in place but the bus isn't ready, the bus driver is performing safety checks, there's an issue with the bus and they need a mechanic, paging the mechanic, the bus has been fixed but the driver is cleaning the bus, etc. I commend Greyhound for their transparency, but they still need to get their act together. We chose this particular departure time to align with a train departure in DC. With the unexpected delays, we missed the train and had to make other arrangements. I know that delays are the risk you take for cheap public transportation, but I was hoping that Greyhound was slightly more reliable based on previous experiences. read more

Three words. Late, rude and disorganized. Everytime, regardless of how much time elapses, come here it's the same situation. Non existent customer service, late drivers and inaccuracies. It seems they have an issue with drivers showing up on time or at all. Last time, the driver was so late, we were allowed to board a different bus going to the same place. I have hope we will leave relatively on time today since the driver is here. But there is no guarantee. read more

I've been riding their buses for years and have no complaints about them, but the quality of service is terrible. Today I had to go from New York to Boston before 9 a.m. on very important business. I took the earliest bus ticket two days ago, but when I arrived at the station, I found out that the bus was canceled and the message came in less than 2 hours before departure! And that's at 11 pm, when it is simply impossible to find other transportation to get there on time. The attitude to the customer is disgusting! They ruined my business trip and promised to refund my money for the ticket. I never want to use their services again. I have no complaints about the app itself. read more

The significant other paid around $17 per person to travel from NY to PA, about a 2 hr ride with one other stop in NJ. And if you're needing a place to store luggage for the day, you can check your bag in for $10 per bag for the day. The bus station was rather dinky. We saw someone's sleeping spot in this corner of an unused bus entrance, cardboard, blanket, and all. There were also some homeless folks loitering around the station so the wait for the bus wasn't pleasant. People sort of lined up about 15 mins prior to departure. You line up according to the number on your ticket (sort of like zones on airplanes). Seats aren't assigned on the bus so it's a first come first serve type ordeal so buy your ticket early (and arrive at the bus terminal early) so you can get on the bus sooner. The bus was pretty comfortable, though I couldn't figure out how to recline the seat. They have a little reading light that the elderly couple behind us used. They also have charging units. The significant other said he had issues with the outlet as it was loose and wouldn't hold his phone charger. WiFi was also available. The only other thing to mention is how freezing it was; bring a jacket or blanket. Overall, the bus departed and arrived as scheduled. The personnel were okay with their service levels. Some were more engaging (luggage check in) over others (those right outside of the buses). read more

Greyhound ought to be ashamed to tell me the ticket is non refundable after the driver didn't show up and left me and a bud load of passengers stranded. They were unable to get me to the destination I paid for and dumped me in a different town and still kept the rest of the money. That is so foul and I would never use them again. Peter Pan or Amtrak from now on. I want to say, Greyhound do better but I know that they won't. read more
