Granny Hamilton's service is ready to fix back for I bought respectful. I put the ticket round-trip ticket and it says I could change the date and time. They charge in a $95 going and $95 to come in back and put in a $130. And about you that I spent $327 and is still early and they won't even transfer the time and the already disappointed disgusted. The driver did not offer to help us. When I spoke to Greyhound customer service, they refused to help! It's unfortunate to see a company I thought was reputable since it's been around for about 100 years received such a bad rating score, and I have to add mine to the list. They offer many trips from point A to B but I needed a trip from B to A. They only offer 1 per day and it's at 2:45am, in the middle of the night.?! There should be more options yet if only 1 bus is scheduled, it should be at a time more convenient for their customers. Servicing your customers best (i.e. good customer service) is key! Purchased a round trip ticket from Newark to Binghamton NY which was about $60 roundtrip in a day. The bus broke down about 10 minutes outside of Newark due to engine failure. The busses are not maintained sufficiently for their mileage, and I wonder if/when they last checked the oil? The driver would not even let us leave or return to Newark, hence I was given the option to either disembark all the way at Scranton in order to turn around, or go the long way up to Binghamton for an appointment that I had already completely missed, just in order to catch my prepaid roundtrip home. Even though we were 3 hours late when the replacement bus arrived, we still maintained our rest stop and local service schedule instead of becoming an express. Some of our passengers were going all the way to Toronto which would have been quite a trying ordeal for them. To recap, my trip was supposed to get into Binghamton at 11AM and I was to leave at 4PM. Instead of a 5 hour lunch and appointment in town I was treated to a less than 2 hour excursion which was just about long enough for me to wave hi and goodbye to my friend and then leave. I still went because what other option did I have? If I tried to stay up in NY for a later bus, I would be making my long day unnecessarily worse, and risk being held up again on my way home. I sent a letter to customer service and they gave me a 50% credit however it was for future bus credit, not a cash refund. I think they should have given me 100% back since the trip was a complete waste of my time but Greyhound's policy is to not give refunds for any reason - they are never at fault because your travel is at your own inconvenience. They don't guarantee anything about the time you will get there. I am not even sure if they would have guaranteed that my bus would have made it to NY in time for my return trip, then! During the Hurricane Irene event I was forced to return to this Greyhound station because no trains ran through NJ for several days as the high floodwaters were still receding. My bus was very late arriving at Newark to pick me up due to traffic in the NY tunnels being greater than usual. Customer service provided somewhat sufficient information about the delay, but due to Greyhound's reputation I kept worrying that my bus would never come, and the agents seemed less concerned than I was about what was probably just another routine delay. They arrived about 75 minutes late due to traffic delays. The curb that all the busses use to pull over to pick up passengers is on a very crowded street. Trucks and transit police vehicles were further blocking access to the area which was already very limited. This further disrupted the busses from staying on schedule. Greyhound's subsidiary BoltBus.com now uses Newark Station which is a HUGE +1 star positive because their prices are discounted and their busses are cleaner and more reliable. However, I am still very wary to select the "greyhound express" option from the origin/destination screen of greyhound.com because we all know there is nothing fast about a greyhound bus. Their "express" prices tend to run a little higher and their online schedule is confusing and much less customer friendly when booking than regular greyhound. (You get fewer options to choose from, which make the same stops, and cost a few dollars extra.) read more

Usually I opt for Amtrak when I visit friends in Washington DC, but on a whim I decided to try the bus on my last trip, and am so glad I did. I purchased a round trip ticket on Bolt bus for $20 three weeks before my travel date. Boarding at Newark Penn Station I discovered the Greyhound/Bolt bus waiting room (which I didn't even know existed - entrance is by the McDonalds) fairly easily. There were employees there for Greyhound, but they can also answer questions for Bolt passengers because both companies are owned by Greyhound. In fact, my bus going down to DC was a Greyhound bus with a Bolt sign in the window. The greyhound bus had seatbelts at each seat (who knew?), cup holders, and working power outlets at each seat. My 8 AM bus was not crowded, I didn't have to sit next to anyone, and we reached DC on time, at about 12:30 PM. For the return I had an actual Bolt Bus, This bus did not have seat belts, and the power outlets did not work, but on the plus side the seat was a little bit more roomy and comfortable. My return bus departed around 5:30 PM and arrived Newark 11 PM. Both buses made one stop in Baltimore, and my return bus made a stop at a rest stop on the NJ Turnpike. Over all, the bus is slightly more inconvenient than Amtrak, but the costs savings are impressive. A normal Amtrak roundtrip ticket is $160-$200 on the NE Regional and takes 3.5 hours. Bolt Bus cost me $20 and took an extra hour and a half each way. That's a pretty good deal. Next time I go to DC I may splurge and get a $35 ticket on Greyhound to have seatbelts. read more

First and last time I got this bus. We Went from newark to washington DC for my nephew's birthday. Bought the 3 tickets week before. Nephew, fiance and I. 8:15 am departure time. I did checkin 6:15 am. We were the first in line to get in the bus. And the person who was doing face to face check-in could not find our tickets on his device. And put us aside. And let everybody get in the bus to fix our problem after everybody. I got so mad when after everybody get in the bus he just scams our tickets using the barcode device. Actual greyhound dogs must cower in shame when they see their bus counterparts sucking at life. It took me about 12 hours to get from Newark to Boston and that's not right. I think it's great that people can jump onto another bus if they miss one.. but that totally messes up counts. Also, they definitely informed us that a bus had been canceled when it was actually sitting outside. Needless to say it left without me. Then another bus broke down. I have a bad fear of flying. Flew out to NJ for a family emergency but refused to get back on the plane to get home to CA and because a cross country car rental fee is about $1800, Greyhound was it! This station is filthy but bus was on time and our first driver was great (five stars for him)! A few drivers in it got weird when the new driver, Celina, announced, "No drugs, alcohol, or RAPE!" Another driver had to diffuse situations more than once with passengers. They should definitely be checking IDs to confirm whose traveling so if something happens that individual can be held responsible. Bags should be checked as well especially in this day and age. Maybe add metal detectors and do pat downs? They need security and cameras on their buses. I heard people threaten each other's lives on more than one occasion. I didn't feel safe at times. At one stop in OH we were delayed 3 hours due to a driver now showing up for work, which we were told is normal for him, and had to wait on a replacement driver. Good luck trying to get toilet paper replenished if you run out! We drove into a snow storm until we reached closed roads (no anxiety there). At another stop were were surrounded by a an angry mob (apparently they were stranded there by another Greyhound bus that broke down). They stop frequently in the middle of the night and force everyone off the buses to switch drivers, recheck your tickets, and put you back on the same bus. I felt sorry for people with sleeping children. I got home exhausted, had swollen ankles, and actually ended up in the ER because I didn't eat normally during traveling. That's the condensed version. My girlfriend's friend Lisa was trying to take the bus back from Newark to Mt Laurel scheduled for 9:55PM. She purchased the ticket online prior to her trip. We walked from my car over to the bus stop at Newark Penn station. We arrived over 10 minutes early. The Greyhound waiting room was closed. We saw a Greyhound bus that had the destination "St. Louis" displayed. Lisa went up to the door and the driver never opened the door. Then the bus left shortly after. The bus left 7 minutes early. An employee came out of the closed Greyhound waiting room several minutes later and told us that the bus that just left was going to Mt Laurel. What?!? How about a flat screen TV outside the bus stop listing where the buses stop? How about the bus driver open the doors and announce that the bus is leaving? So now Lisa is stuck at our apartment tonight because of this. I feel equal empathy for a girl next to us who was trying to get Ohio who also missed that same bus. Lisa called Greyhound customer service to try to get a refund. They told her that she needed to get a new ticket to get her refund and she had to finish her trip to get her refund. WHAT?!?!? What if they are sold out tomorrow? And why would should she pay for a new ticket from a service that provided poor service in the first place. I would rather bike cross country than use Greyhound. I arrived for my bus about 20 minutes early and apparently it had left before I even got there which is unbelievable. I had to make a connecting bus in New York and the people at the desk did not seem to care at all and tried to make it seem like it was MY FAULT. This is a terrible terrible bus agency. I will say they i wicked. I booked a ticket from dc to newyork and i saw i mistaked on tge times. I called immediately to report it but they told me to pay and additional 20 dollar to change it. So if u book with them by mistake u dont get ur money back. On top of that they prefere to let go empty buses than taking clients who already paid their ticket. I never even used the bus and i will never venture near them. Being big also mean to repect your clients. This is the only angency where client sleep at the metro for. Ive booked with Greyhound twice, and it's a nightmare! All customer service on the phone are Indian, which I hate. I called because my credit cards (pleural!) were being declined. every time this happens, you have to fill out half of your information again. I called two numbers, and was told that i couldnt book because the web fares werent valid and I had to choose the advanced fare and not the web fare. I told him i chose my 10% off fare (with advanced fare), and he said the same thing. they hadnt updated the system. then i tried again without the 10% and with the advnaced fare, and it still didnt work. wow. great. I cant even book my ticket. they dont have a customer service link so you can complain. I traveled from Newark to Florida and the bus ride was not horrible. I did have a few complaints however. The way they advertise the Greyhound says there's wifi (HA!) and leg room (HAHA!). Yes there is wifi, however you might spend your whole trip waiting for a webpage to load. Don't expect to watch Netflix because that's close to impossible. They also advertise that there are outlets to charge your devices... Good luck trying to find one that works. The leg room they speak of is also a big joke. I wouldn't bring a bag with you that needs to be put by your feet because you'll be very uncomfortable. I also suggest you bringing a lot of food with you because all of the rest stops have 4 options of the greasiest and grossest food you'll ever see. read more

It's crazy that Greyhound and Boltbus are owned by the same company. I bought a ticket for my relative from Nwk to Charlotte. I booked it online but when I tried to change the date, I was told that I would have to take the ticket to the greyhound office to change the date (plus it's an extra 20$!). You have to pay in cash, no cards allowed. I just think it's crazy that I can buy a ticket online, receive my confirmation in an email, but have to go all the way down to the office to change the date. It's just so inconvenient, especially considering Boltbus allows you to make changes over the phone (and only charges $4!). read more

I have been taking the Greyhound from Port Authority to Wilmington,DE for a while. Recently I and other family members are able to leave NYC around the scheduled time but the return trip is a real nightmare. A few days after Christmas the bus was late almost 2 hours. The employees there had no information for passengers and the entire terminal was crowded and the bathroom is its usual pigsty. I was fortunate that a friend of my brother in laws was driving up to NYC and gave me a lift. Fast forward to last Monday August 13,2018 the 11:40am bus did not come. Again no info from employees. After one hour I went across the street and paid $133.00 and got back via Amtrak. When I checked the Greyhound tracker it said that my bus was leaving 4 hours late. I want to know if I am entitled to a refund on my non refundable ticket since this is all their fault? No one ever answers the phone at Greyhound. read more
