The ONLY reason that I can give Greyhound a star at all is that they were able to get us to and from our destination without bodily harm.
The buses them selves are not bad; they have outlets at every seat, ample leg room, and you can recline easily enough without ensuing the ire of the person sitting behind you.
Customer service with this organization does not even exist. Without a doubt, the worst I have EVER been treated by ANY organization that I've paid money to.
My experience: My wife and I took a bus from Philadelphia to Baltimore for a quick lunch- we didn't feel like driving. Upon the boarding process they took the print out of my ticket. I let the gentleman know (who was our driver), "my return ticket is on the back of that." He curtly responded: "well I need it. You have the confirmation number? You can reprint it." So I let him take my double sided ticket (in his defense, the e-mail does say at the bottom to print single sided. He was absolutely right about what he was doing, it was HOW he spoke to me is my issue).
We arrive in Baltimore without any incident- maybe a few minutes behind schedule, but no problem. I proceed to the self-serve kiosk to print out my ticket and was directed to a 'customer service agent' for some reason. I go to the counter and the first thing this woman (I wish I had this broad's name) did was point to the kiosk and tell me to go there; well the kiosk sent me to the desk. I read her my confirmation number and pertinent information, and she tells me "oh your ticket has already been printed." Yes, I know: I proceed to explain how I printed on both sides of my paper, and the driver took my tickets. THIS WOMAN GOT ON HER CELL PHONE WHILE WORKING WITH ME AND WAS TALKING TO SOMEBODY ELSE!!! I ask her, "what can you do for me? I have no access to a printer between now and when the bus leaves back home in 4 hours. She proceeds to rummage around (still talking on her cell phone and not with me) and pull out a pad of paper where she writes our confirmation number. I only see 1 piece of paper and no acknowledgement that there are two of us so I ask: "this is for the both of us right?" She takes the paper back, and says "There's only 1 ticket on here." No, I'm looking at both tickets on my phone- and we are traveling together. She looks at her screen and says "yeah, this is for two" THROWS the paper at me, not changing at thing. (we found a Holiday Inn with a very friendly representative that reprinted it for us, because we just didn't trust her)
We have our afternoon in Baltimore, then arrive back at the terminal for our 4:45 bus (loading at 420) ride back to Philadelphia. 4:45 comes, nothing... 5, 5:30, 5:45 comes and still nothing. A few other passengers were waiting in the terminal which is the only reason we knew we didn't miss the bus, but we received NO acknowledgement about the tardy status of our ride. In fact when I approached a customer service representative to ask what the status was HE WAS ON HIS PHONE TOO (TEXTING)! HE DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT ME! Word gets out that the bus was 'stuck in traffic' and would be there momentarily. They line us up like we're ready to board- we waited in line, standing, for about a good 20 minutes before our bus arrived over 2 hours late.
This is by far the worst customer experience I have EVER had. read more
