I am writing this after multiple bad experiences with the bus service. I was scheduled to travel from Washington DC to New york at 4:45PM on sunday. I together with atleast 10-15 other passengers were asked to stand in queue A (union station bus stop). There was no marking no announcement and no one to assist. We were told that the bus is delayed. Come 5:00 PM, they come back and tell that the bus left at 4:50. All of us surprised and angry at the same time. The staff is as un-courteous as it gets. Instead of adjusting us on any of the upcoming trips we were asked to go to the ticketing counter and ask for refund or call the call center. I will never book a greyhound again for sure.. read more

I believe greyhound bussing showcased the worst service I have ever seen in my life!! Not only did my bus come a half an hour late it came late twice. Not only that but my driver pulled over the bus to get a passenger off the phone!! But still that's not all I had a clinically insane person talking to herself for 6 hours straight and as soon as I fell asleep she started playing with my hair. This review is based on my first time taking Greyhound. I traveled from Union Station (DC) to Port Authority (NYC) and back. The trip from DC to NYC was thoroughly unpleasant. The bus was an hour late and we received no communication from station personnel as to what was going on (they would announce every ten minutes that 'the bus was ten minutes away' or 'the bus is thirty minutes away, clearly they had no idea when or if the bus would arrive). The employees were rude and unhelpful. When I called Greyhound customer service to inquire about the missing bus, I was placed on hold for 20 minutes before I gave up. When the bus finally showed up, it was dirty and the advertised outlets did not work (I tried three separate seats). My return trip was (shockingly) a lot better. The bus was at the terminal on time - we even ended up leaving a few minutes early. The bus was clean and I had a seat with a functioning outlet. Not a bad experience. To sum it up: based on my initial trip (which, judging from the reviews on here seems to be a common experience), I would never take greyhound if I had a deadline to be somewhere, as it seems the service is entirely unreliable, or if I had any other option. As the return trip wasn't horrible, though, I still might travel with Greyhound as a last resort. read more

I am a frequent rider from dc to nyc. Greyhound messed me up last three times and probably I am never booking greyhound again. One time I had to spend the whole night at union station around christmas time because the bus was already full and they sold extra tickets or the system was messed up. Around 20 people got stranded. Finally, paid $40 extra to megabus and got a seat there. Second time same thing but this time I didnt wait another minute of scheduled time; paid another $40 to megabus and got a seat. Third time coming back from nyc to dc. My bus was at 6 pm and it was 7pm already when people who had bus at 5:30 pm were still waiting ahead of us. After an hour one bus showed which was not even scheduled but the driver was good enough to take us to dc and I got the last seat. No power outlets though. The only positive thing in all of this was that I got my refund from greyhound. That was my last ride for greyhound. Enough chances given ! Thanks for your service. read more

This is now probably the fifth incident I have had with greyhound, third with this specific depot, and I'm honestly surprised it took me this long to realize how UNRELIABLE and stressful using this company for bus travel is. I was scheduled for a trip departing at 2:05 pm from DC to Harrisburg, PA, only to be told closer to 2:30pm that the bus driver was unaware he was supposed to be driving that day. So I, along with other passengers, were given the choice of either waiting until the bus would try to come (I was given anywhere from 1-3 hours as an arrival time) or a refund, and when we expressed justified annoyance, we were met with unnecessarily rude commentary from greyhound employees. In the past I have been left with broken down buses on the middle of interstates, consistently late departure times, along with many other unnecessary grievances. I NEVER leave reviews for things, but hopefully me posting this will keep someone else from giving this never-dependent company their hard earned money. read more

If you need to get somewhere I suggest you take any other means of transport than this one. Our bus got delayed for 6 hours with no explanation, no update as to why it is so late, nothing. Whilst waiting for 6 hours in the greyhound area, 5 other busses got delayed for over 2 hours, one even got cancelled after making people wait around for an extra 3 hours. The communication is appalling. There schedule is non existent. Would not recommend!!! read more

Signed up for the Lucky Strike Bus from DC to Atlantic City. Buying the tickets was easy and picking them up at the kiosk was as well, but things started to get messy as we arrived at the terminal. First, no where on your ticket does it say you need to be in a certain bus line. You have to walk past all of the terminals and read the destinations, and no where does it say which destination is which bus line. There is no way to ensure you are on the right bus unless you ask the driver what stops they are going to be making. We board the bus and it makes all of the stops it is supposed to except for our stop (of course). We ask the driver and he says we are on the wrong bus. If that was the case, why were we allowed on the bus at all? And how many buses were leaving DC to AC at the exact time our bus was leaving? If they had made clear which bus line was at which terminal (using the bus number instead of the location), it would have made more sense. But either way, only one ternimal said AC Casinos. So we have to walk from the last bus stop to our casino (which luckily was only about half a mile). My only concern is what if that had happened and you were not close to your stop? We lucked out and were close.. others may not have been. The bus ride home was fine, we made it back when we were supposed to and all the stops were made inbetween. My advice: be aware of your surroundings and drive if you can. It was only worth the bus ride because we didn't want to drive home at 1am. read more

I'm a grad student in DC with family in Virginia Beach. I don't own a car so Greyhound Express seemed like the cheapest and most reliable way to get back and forth for family visits. I did this trip 4 years ago on the "old Greyhound" and it was awful. Have they improved since then? Definitely. Overall I was happy with my experience. We left on time and arrived on time. I was able to get a decent amount of work done both ways, enabling me to spend more time with family upon arrival. (I easily spend 4 hours on the computer at home, so might as well do it on the bus and wake up somewhere else, right?) Cons: I was disappointed to stop in Richmond and wait 45 minutes for our next bus seeing as I had intentionally bought a "non-stop" ticket online. But that's okay; I used the facilities and bought a coffee (Seattle's Best, quite strong). In total I was on 4 buses (two there and two on the way back). Only two out of four buses had "working" wi-fi. I was very upset when my first bus didn't have wi-fi. False advertising if it only happens 50% of the time? Luckily the outlets worked on all four occasions, which allowed me to catch up on some reading, writing, and editing despite the lack of wi-fi. On the two buses where there was working wi-fi, it was quite slow. It's fast enough to respond to emails and maybe even stream some music (if you're patient). But don't board expecting to do much online work. Overall the staff was very friendly. They have this new boarding system similar to that of Southwest Airlines where each person is assigned a "boarding number" at the time of purchase. Because I bought my ticket online a few days in advance, my boarding number was #2. Great! I'll get to board early, right? Wrong. Only once out of my four boarding experiences did the staff even attempt to follow the procedure. 75% of the time they just let everyone, including one crabby woman in particular, crowd around the door anxious to board.. It ended up not mattering much as none of the four buses were even close to packed, so we were all able to pick our seats. There was a lot of leg room and on all four buses I had no one sitting next to me. I highly recommend booking early morning/ early afternoon buses, avoiding bus and bus stations at night, especially for females. This also ensures that you beat rush hour traffic. I traveled during daylight hours. I imagine I would have had an entirely different experience at night. Overall I'll ride again. You can't beat $24 round trip. read more

Two words (well a few - but two key words): GO EXPRESS. After reading all the reviews we were expecting a ride as enjoyable as Apollo 13's return trip (went to D.C. & clearly spent a bit of time at the air & space museum..) but it was extraordinarily smooth sailing from the get go. Buying an express ticket GUARANTEES you a place on board the bus. The boarding process itself is calm and orderly, much like boarding an airplane (or hey, Apollo 13); it's done in sections according to your ticket and it's all smooth cruising from there. Clean seats, decent toilet, excellent wifi and those handy little feet-rest things. Both drivers (there & back) were courteous and helpful - as for that matter were the rest of the staff. We arrived AHEAD of time (though that's probably due to excellent traffic conditions, which I guess greyhound can't take credit for) And it was$38. Return. Genius. read more

I didn't expect much after reading the Yelp reviews here but there weren't too many options so I took Greyhound anyways. Overall, the experience was very good and I was quite pleased with the service. Pros: -No lines (you can get there only 10 minutes early and you'll be perfectly fine). -Comfortable seats -Good driver -Other passengers were generally friendly -Cheap -Clean -Has power outlets -Good customer service; I lost my ticket and arrived there 10 minutes before the bus was supposed to depart. I asked a worker if they could do anything for me and they printed out my ticket for me. It actually took a while (a minute before bus left) and I was really worried but I managed to get on the bus so props to them! Cons: -Wifi doesn't work -Power outlets on only the window side (It's a bit awkward if you're sitting with someone else on the window side but it's ok) -The workers aren't the most friendly but they do their job. -The bus runs slightly late. 10-15 minutes Clearly the pros outweigh the cons and I recommend Greyhound for a quick, easy, affordable ride to another state. read more

At Port Authority in NYC, just one person at the desk to help customers with issues like change on time, change of date, etc. Line was pretty long! The bus driver was great, I must admit that i was impressed when he demanded people to be serious about cellphone use, as well as music and that kind of stuff, and thank godness it worked. Bravo! firts trip I heard that much of authority which I consider is right since everybody wants and deserves a nice and restful trip. Unfortunately, WiFi didn't work both ways and seats were really unconfortables both ways. I am glad I had a book, that helped a lot. Union Station office at DC was a mess, understandable because it was Holy sunday, but they could do a much better job, I am sure of that. read more

I had a bus today from Springfield Virginia to Richmodn Virginia at 12:35 today. I arrived at 11:30 like I was supposed to and noticing at 1:00 and the bus is a half an hour late, I called customer service when they told me that the bus was an hour and a half behind schedule. At this time they told me it would be a half an hour worth waiting. SIX HOURS LATER STILL NO BUS. I called Greyhound a second time and they told me that I can wait for the 8:30 bus, which was not happening since I had arrangements at 9 at night...this is a FOUR HOUR BUS RIDE. I was in Washington DC when I missed my Greyhound bus to return to New York City. The woman behind the counter at the station said I would have to update my ticket to catch another bus. The same thing happened before when I was in DC and late catching the bus back to NYC. When the first occurrence took place, I was charged $15 to update my ticket and catch another bus. The woman behind the counter told me that I had to pay in cash. I gave her a $20 bill and didn't realize that she did not give me my $5 change until after I boarded the bus and it took off. When I got to the station in NYC, I told the man behind the counter what happened and showed him my receipt. He said that he could not refund the $5. He advised me to request a refund the next time I visited the DC station or send a letter to Greyhound. When I sent a letter to Greyhound requesting a refund, I did not get a response. In the second occurrence, I asked the woman behind the counter if I could have a $5 credit towards an updated ticket since I did not receive my change the time before when I was in the DC Greyhound bus station. She became very indignant, as if I asked her personally for $5. So I asked to speak to the person in charge. She shouted for him as if she was in the streets trying to get someone's attention. The man she called barely responded. It was clear that he did not want to speak to me. His conduct was just as unprofessional as hers. It's no wonder she could be crude and get away with it. When I showed him the receipt from the first updated ticket where I paid $20 but was only supposed to pay $15 and did not get my $5 change, he said, "This was a new Greyhound bus station," which I didn't think mattered since it was still Greyhound. He went on to say that he wasn't even there at the time of the first occurrence. But he was now in charge, which should have qualified him to approve of a $5 credit towards an updated ticket. However his decision was NO. And he was real nasty about it. He charged me $20 for an updated ticket, which I had to pay in cash (although it's a new station, I guess some things don't change). I wonder if the staff is pocketing the updated ticket money because I paid $20 but my receipt said I paid $6.25. During the ride to NYC, we stopped at a rest stop where the bus driver purchased food from one of the fast food restaurants. Instead of eating it before he took off, I observed him eating and driving at the same time, which put us all in danger. And it was raining and dark by this time. Thank GOD we arrived safely in NYC. I do not plan to ride Greyhound Bus Lines again because the staffs at the stations and drivers are unprofessional. The staff is very disrespectful and the drivers are clearly irresponsible and lack good judgment. read more

My son is literally on a Greyhound bus as we speak. Called me crying because on one of the stops he went to the bathroom and left his bag with all his money and IDs. He told the bus driver asking to go back in to get his bag. They did not leave yet. The bus driver's response was it belongs to someone else now. And if my son got off the bus he would leave him. Thank god he had his cell phone in his pocket. This is the first and last time my son take graygound. They treat their customers like garbage. When we stopped the bus at a gas station, I went to the bathroom - but 5 seconds after I got in the bus driver was pounding on the door. He said something along the lines of "the longer you're in their the longer it'll take us to reach." He lacked basic manners and was extremely rude. Never using greyhound again. The worst transport service in existence. The buses are late, the leg room is generally only 6-7 inches in length, the service is just awful wherever you go, some of the buses don't have outlets, and all of the buses lack any functional type of wi-fi service, although they advertise it. The drivers are horrible, their stations are anything but sanitary, and the rest stop are only 10 minutes long although they advertise it for 30 minutes. I've been using Greyhound for two years with the hope of it getting better. Never did. Don't use it. The ticket is wayyyyyy overpriced for their shitty service. Try to avoid this service as much as possible. I would much rather walk on a torn ACL then use their service. Any other bus service will be cheaper and better. Greyhound/Peter Pan canceled my bus and didn't want to give me a refund. Their policy is no refunds on non-refundable tickets no matter what, EVEN IF THERE IS NO BUS. I bought a ticket at the station at about 10:55 for an 11:00 am bus from DC to NYC at about 10:55. Around 11:15, all the passengers were still standing around in the waiting area, waiting for the bus to load. Finally, one of the passengers asked someone what the deal was, and he was informed that we'd have to take the 12:00 bus because there weren't enough passengers for the 11:00 am bus to be economical for Greyhound.There was no announcement, no information offered--someone had to ask. In my book, if I'm holding a ticket for an 11:00 bus, and Greyhound deliberately forces all the passengers to take the 12:00 bus instead, that means they have CANCELED the 11:00 bus. I understand sometimes there are unavoidable delays, but this was a flat-out screw-job for Greyhound's convenience. So then, when I went for a refund, they denied that the bus was canceled and asked me WHY I wanted a refund, and I had to explain that a 12:00 bus was useless to me because I'd miss my connection and was forced to take a train instead (and cough up $150 bucks for it, no less). They eventually caved when I started to get upset, but told me that in the future to remember Greyhound's no refund policy. The chinatown buses may not be luxurious and the staff can be rather brusque, but at least the buses (usually) run. Avoid. read more

My son wanted to go to a concert in upstate New York and needed to get there by 4PM (from Richmond). I didn't want him to drive and i thought the bus would be safer so I booked him on Greyhound leaving Richmond at 1:30AM. Unbeknownst to me, when you buy a ticket you are not guaranteed a seat. The 1:30AM bus was oversold and he didn't get on. They said that they would add a bus at 3:15AM but in actuality, he didn't get to leave until 5:30AM. I was completely shocked that you could buy a ticket and not be guaranteed a seat. In fact, when I went online at 1:28 to see when the next bus was, they said they still had two seats. Obviously, going to upstate NY requires a few transits and they were 5 hours late getting there and missed the first couple hours of the concert. Even worse, when I called up Greyhound to complain about their deplorable service, 2 customer service agents hung up on me (and i wasn't yelling or cussing). It is just very obvious they don't care. (Also, their customer service phone number has been broken for awhile - they said a week - and I had to call the main office and be transferred) I am having to find alternative transportation for him for the ride home but we will never take Greyhound again. read more

For the past year and a half I have been a frequent rider to/fro DC/NY. At first I took Megabus, but decided to return to Greyhound/PeterPan because I don't like being cattle-herded on city streets. And every seat must be filled before the bus departs. I have been very well pleased with Greyhound/PeterPan. Although I try to book when travel is not expected to be heavy, I did have to travel once on a Sunday afternoon. The line for the next bus far exceeded one bus capacity. A staff member divided the line and apparently woke up a Southern-bound route driver. Two buses left together and we arrived on time and on near-full but uncrowded buses. All my trips have arrived before schedule, I have been comfortable and enjoy being able to get on whatever bus is waiting regardless of time on my ticket. Even though my online ticket is more than the Megabus, etc., it is well worth the price to get professional drivers who don't exceed 65 mph, don't have to pay tolls and I can sleep instead of drive and deal with traffic. I'm loving it and pray after reading the negative comments posted here I never experience any of those issues. read more

Beware of the ticket pitfalls; their system is scam-like if you make a mistake! Booked two tickets over a companion website, omitting that Greyhound does not reserve seats and also not telling you how often you have to switch buses in-between. We ended up with having to change buses 2 times just 2 days before Thanks Giving. Upon realizing this fact, we immediately called customer service to cancel the tickets before the funds wire through and before the ridiculous refund policies catch. Phone customer service told us to go to a counter and that they cannot help us. So, 1hr later at the Greyhound counter they refused to do anything since this was a home ticket and we didnt print it at home (seriously guys... you dont only lack courtesy and employee training but on top you lack a printer in the customer service offices??!!). 2hrs later after biking back home, printing and returning; they told us that the funds wired and we cannot cancel anymore. So we called our bank and... the funds did not wire. thanks for lying straight to the face. Ok, so we demanded the manager. Said manager was even more unfriendly and said that it doesnt matter that no funds wired, they just won't cancel the tickets. Thanks guys for killing Thanks Giving this year. Honestly, the ticket booking we used online seems to be setup to disclose the fact that you might need to switch buses without no reserved seats. Also, that you have no choice not even the slightest option to undo a mistake upon booking is crazy. I don't know what the customer protection laws in this country are, but in most European locations, this behavior would be illegal and feels like scam. That was the last time with Greyhound; hope Megabus realizes that the customers are important to business and that relatively low prices do not have to equal zero service and rights. FUCK GREYHOUND. I would rate this bus service as zero stars if I could. Me and my friend planned to go from college park to New York and we payed for our tickets at 7/11 and then showed up at the location listed online, college park metro station, over an hour and a half early only to find no grey hound signs or anything and when we talked to the attendant they said greyhound buses don't ever come to that station. So we called the greyhound help center and we were on hold for 20 minutes (shitty hold music too) and they guy told us that is was at 4931 Calvert Road and it would be there for sure so we Googled that and followed the directions but it was in the middle of some trees by the american physics institute.... We eventually figured out that the address they gave us was actually just the college park metro station where we already were. So we go back there and the bus just did not show up at all, it didn't come. We called them again which took forever and one of the representatives told us to "just go to Baltimore and catch the bus there" because of course that's so easy to do. Another guy gave me a number for an automated line which gave me another number for a just as useless help line, and I was on hold for another 20 minutes. Their best advice was to find the greyhound center in DC and pray there's another bus leaving. We ended up having to get advice from a couple strangers who know the bus system better than we do, and we took a BoltBus (which i would Highly recommend) from another metro station that left close to two hours later than the Greyhound would have but still got to New York earlier than the Greyhound was scheduled to get there (if we had been able to get the bus) We still have no idea how to get our tickets refunded since the call center for that tells us to go to college park metro station to get refunds... which we obviously can't do since all the offices there say greyhound never even comes there. tl:dr: stay the hell away from this shitty bus service if you aren't interested spending fifty dollars on dead end nature hikes and over an hour of hold time read more

Planned for a one day trip to New York, but ended up stranded there for two days due to mild inclement weather. They did not have any phone lines available to discuss any of our questions and concerns, or details online. we were basically left stranded with no help. Ended up having to call out of work, find a hotel, and buy an amtrak ticket home the next day. Although it was Greyhound's liability, they still will not refund my money back. waste of time and money. never using this service again !!!! I have ridden with Greyhound 3 times in the last two weeks and every time was terrible, with the last being possibly the most frustrating travel experience of my life. I want to tell you about my attempts at getting from Washington, D.C. to Wilmington, DE (an approximately 2 hour drive up I95). Incident #1: I arrive at Union Station for my bus to Delaware. I'm not sure which bus to get on. I ask the unfriendly lady behind the Information desk to clarify for me, she just glances at my ticket and says "line up at A". So I go line up at "A". I ask others in line whether this is the bus to Philly that has a stop in Delaware, no one knows (I don't blame them) but they tell me that the bus is definitely the one going to Philly. As the bus starts boarding, and they start checking tickets, I ask the guy whether or not my ticket is correct for this bus, and that I can get off in Wilmington. He glances at my ticket, says "yea", and lets me get on. Sure enough, I ended up on the bus going directly to Philly and had to Uber ($$) back to Wilmington Delaware! I tried my best to make sure I got on the right bus, and the Greyhound workers failed me TWICE. Incident #2: On my way from Wilmington back to Washington I had a brief stop in Baltimore where I had to switch buses. I'm there waiting for my bus that is set to come in 30 minutes, and I overhear a worker asking a customer if they are going to Washington. Apparently, the bus I was going to take was cancelled but they had another bus that was leaving right away to Washington. They made no formal announcement of the cancellation, and the only reason I got on the bus was because I was lucky enough to overhear that conversation. Incident #3: Most infuriating experience yet. I show up for my 8:15pm bus from Washington to Delaware. It gets delayed two hours until 10:30pm (each delay is in 20 minute increments, which is very frustrating because the whole time you never really know when the bus is coming). Finally 10:30 pm comes around and they have us all line up as the bus pulls up, and then tell us the bus is cancelled! Ridiculous! They inform us there isn't another available bus until 5:15am in the morning (meaning some travelers are stranded at Union Station overnight). They also tell us there is nothing they can do but offer us a refund or a ticket on the 5:15am bus. I take the ticket because I need to be at work 9am in the morning. I get two hours of sleep and show up at the station at 4:30am in preparation for the 5:15am bus. We all get in line at 5 am. No bus at 5:15am, so we keep waiting. 5:30am hits, and they come out and tell us the bus has been cancelled yet again! And that there is nothing we can do but they can offer us 'a refund or a ticket on the next bus'. I again take the ticket on the next bus, which is 6:00 am, and think to myself well that's not so bad, just another 30 minute delay to my trip, I'll only be a bit late to work and I can probably do work on the bus using their wifi. Finally the bus shows up, and it looks like it has a driver this time. We all get on this bus and start heading up the road. The bus has no wifi, something that our tickets said was included in the purchase. Halfway to Delaware, the bus breaks down! We sit on the side of I95 for 30 minutes until a mechanic shows up and fixes it. Not so bad, right? Wrong. We get back on our way again, when surprise: the bus breaks down AGAIN. This time, we sit on the side of I95 for two hours waiting for another bus to come pick us up. I finally get to Wilmington at 2:30pm. I ended up being 6 hours late to work, my trip was delayed EIGHTEEN HOURS. It was supposed to be a two hour trip. I am never riding with Greyhound bus again. They are unreliable, disorganized, and have atrocious customer service along with terms and conditions that restrict consumer rights in the even of their constant screw-ups. This bus line has improved tremendously over the years, and I recommend it during a cold winter or hot summer, mainly because you can wait indoors or at least out of the elements. They now have roomy seats with power and browsing-sufficient wifi. More importantly they enforce the quiet rules on the bus which makes it real nice. The boarding numbers are nice in NYC and Philly, but in DC they do not use them which defeats the purpose. A membership program would be nice. Each booking I make I have to repeatedly enter my details. They are missing out on an opportunity to engage a return customer as well. Other that, I use it all the time read more

First and last time I will ride Greyhound. I was in a pickle and need to get from Fredericksburg to DC quickly. Mind you, this review is simply over a $22.50 one way bus ticket... that turned into be my interaction with some of the worst customer service out there. I go to the Fredericksburg station to find that no live person is available after 7:30 p.m. and the Kiosk is not working. The only ticket operation available is to purchase and email the ticket online. I see that it is says that it is the passengers responsibility to print the ticket... Mind you, every other public transportation I use allows digital tickets from Amtrak to Megabus. The bus shows up and he tells me he can't accept it. After nudging him a bit, he says ok because the machine is down and no one is there to print it and I will need to go to the Kiosk in DC and either reprint it at the counter or purchase a new ticket. Say what!??? I arrive to DC and the driver is busy so out of honesty, I approach the driver and tell him I am getting the ticket for him from the Greyhound counter. He says thanks and tells me he appreciates it. The driver was not at fault at all here... Now once I approach the counter, the true failure in customer service occurs. The lady doesn't offer a greeting or offer of assistance and no one is waiting for help. I ask if she can assist me and I inform the lady that I am reprinting a ticket for the driver and she exclaims, "No, you're reprinting the ticket for you." I reply that I am doing him a favor because I can easily keep walking to the metro and he won't have that piece of paper he needs for some reason. She exclaims this is not how it is done and that I'll need to wait to see if I have to purchase a ticket. I tell her I am not purchasing a ticket and can give her the ticket digitally. She gives me a piece of paper that has greyhoundREPINTs@gmail.com written on it and instructs m3 to email it there. I ask her if the email for REPINTS is correct and she yells, it says REPRINT! At this point, I send her the email for the ticket and instruct her to please give it to the driver and have a great new year. Never again for a $22.50 ride. read more

The worst customer service ever. They are so ready to steal your money. Literally two minutes late and have to pay $20 for two minutes penalty. Will never go through this again. Terrible service!!!!!! Terrible management!!!! read more

I paid triple the price to use greyhound hoping that their express bus would get me there on time. My arrival time was supposed to be 2:55pm and I had a 4 hour delay. We had to use our phone gps to direct the driver for each bus station we had to stop from Boston to DC. The driver was lost when we got to New York, and we had to direct her, same for when we got to Baltimore and DC.Driver took multiple 30 minute breaks that wasn't neded and what was supposed to be a 8 hour trip turned to 12 hours. If you really need to use a bus, you might as well get the cheapest one and be aware that it might still be as bad, but don't take Grey Hound. read more

130 to 645 from D.C. To Norfolk turned into a 2 ok to 9 pm. You simply cannot depend on the greyhound to get you where you need to go on time. You will end up ruining your plans as well as spending so much time in layover that you will spend more on food and other things. Stay away read more

First of all, getting here is a real pain because of Union Station. The location on Google Maps is accurate, but you need to take the correct streets to get there - H Street goes over 1st Street NE, and then you have to make a complete loop to get to the station, real hassle. We made the mistake of getting off at Mass Ave seeing as how it was the first major street off of the 2nd St NW exit off 395 north. I'd say the best way to go is to take 2nd St NW until K street and then take K street east until 1st St NE and you will be right there. The station itself isn't the best - don't expect an Amtrak station. The station is very gray, and just feels dirty...there is one fast food joint that sells burgers, so if you need food, I would get it before coming here. Oh and there are NO WATER FOUNTAINS. I'd say the one cool thing about the station is that they have a lot of HD TV's hanging around and they were showing NFL Network! Usually I expect Fox News, or CNN or any news network. Getting tickets isn't that bad. I felt like I was at an airport. You have the same style front desk, but they don't do anything anymore since there are kiosks for buying tickets. There are will call kiosks on the right side for people who bought online and kiosks on the left for buying new tickets. The internet says you NEED to have your credit card to pick up will call tickets - this is not true. You have two options to get your will call tickets. Option 1 is to swipe your credit card at which point it will recognize the purchase (which wasn't working for me), or Option 2 is to put in the 8 digit reference number from your order, you did write this down right??? While option 2 worked for me, it really bugged me that the internet calls it a "reference number" and not like..."reservation number" or "order number" or whatever. Had I not printed the itinerary (which greyhound.com really didn't say was necessary) I would have not known the reference number and I'm not sure what I would have done since the kiosk wasn't recognizing my credit card. I took the LuckyStreak bus to Atlantic City (the LuckyStreak name is nothing more than a fun name for marketing purposes as the bus itself is just another Greyhound bus, not to mention the fact that you don't HAVE TO use luckystreakbus.com to order, you can just go through greyhound.com). If you buy just a one way ticket from the kiosk, or online greyhound, you WILL NOT get the bonus coupon. If you buy the full, round trip ticket ($42 at the station, or $37.50 online all the time), you WILL get the bonus coupon which can be redeemed for free slot money at the destination casino you chose . I originally chose Tropicana, but when I heard we were stopping at Hilton and that they were giving $30 of slot money (Tropicana gives $25) I decided to get off there (each of these buses makes two casino stops). My bonus coupon clearly said it was only redeemable at Tropicana, but I noticed the lady taking the coupon wasn't looking at all, I just gave her the coupon and she gave me a slip of Hilton-brand paper to give to the desk to get my money. I only know what three casinos give at this point: Hilton-$30, Tropicana-$25, Caesars-$25. They put them money on a players card for you - you can't cash out UNTIL you play as least the value indicated (e.g. you need to roll the reels of the $1 slot machine 30 times before you can cash out the $30 Hilton gives you, whatever is left is whatever you get...I ended up with $18.75). The bus itself is very nice. These aren't your standard coach buses you remember from field trips in high school. No. Every seat is a comfortable, LEATHER seat that already has a natural lean. Nice foot room, two 120V AC jacks at every seat, free wireless internet. Greyhound has really done a number. The wireless sucked. It only worked a few times on the highway before crapping out entirely half way through. You are better of tethering your phone if you can. And finally, the worst part of the whole greyhound experience, which is what I really want to bring up. If you go to LuckyStreakBus.com and look at the perks they tell you three things: WIFI, AC Outlets and PRIORITY SEATING. And I quote: "skip ahead of the line and choose a seat (only available on the first leg of the trip)". Yeah, you try skipping the line without getting beat up. No such thing exists and the ticket taker never even mentions it. First off, I didn't expect there to be a line, so I took a seat and waited for the bus, eventually getting to the back of the line when I decided to line up. Second, I didn't expect this to be GENERAL ADMISSION tickets - I figured Greyhound was like Amtrak with guaranteed seats. Wrong. You better get to the station early (1 hr or more) and get in line so you can guarantee yourself a seat, or you will miss the bus and have to wait for the next one like I did. Lines don't exist for all buses, just the popular routes, like the AC bus. So be vigilant. read more

I had the worst experience of my life taking s greyhound bus. The bus broke down three times on the road and I ended up having to change my other ticket to Megabus just because of greyhound. Megabus ended up charging me an extra 9 dollars too change my ticket and I got stuck taking a much later bus because nothing else was available. Then Megabus tried to charge me 5 more to take an earlier bus. Megabus is owned by greyhound and they have the nerve to tell me they're not and that they have no control over what happens on greyhound just to make extra money off their customers. Both bus lines STINK and I highly recommend taking a flight anywhere you go across state. read more
