My dog! Adopted from Greyhound Friends, Inc.
    Mariko W.

I adopted my beautiful greyhound here last week. What a wonderful experience. Their facilities are clean and healthy and the people there really love these animals. They were thorough and found me the perfect dog to match up to my lifestyle. The adoption fee is $200.00 and they set you up with all shots, spay/neuter, frontline and they give you some food and lead and collar. If you are looking for dog, please consider a greyhound. They are amazing pets...and please give Greyhound Friends a visit!

    Here's our handsome boy

My fiance and I were interested in getting a greyhound, so we decided to check out Greyhound Friends. Louise was incredible helpful and answered all the questions we had. We came back about a month later and rescued our handsome boy. Louise gave us all the information & basic supplies we needed to get started, and charged a modest adoption fee (I don't even know if it was enough to cover his fixing, meds & food while there). Wouldn't go anywhere else for a grey!

    Sidney, f.k.a. Dippy

We adopted Sidney (f.k.a. Dippy) in March and she quickly became a member of our family. Louise knew just the dog for us and helped with everything we needed to bring Sidney home that day, plus materials to ease the transition. If you think a greyhound might be for you, Greyhound Friends is the place.

Our buddy (lots of rescued greyhounds are missing teeth like him).

Can't say enough about this group and its efforts. We adopted Jasper (fka Meggie) from here at the start of the year and he's been a basically perfect addition to our little family. Louise sized me up and matched us perfectly on my first visit there. I came back with my husband the next day and we sealed the deal. Yes, you'll definitely want to get your adoptee on a better diet, but considering the budget and incredibly limited resources that the rescue is working with, they're doing a really outstanding job. Would definitely recommend this rescue (and greyhounds in general!) to anyone on the market for the new pupper.

Louise told us it wasn't a good idea and set us up with a petite female who is now our pretty little princess.

Our consult was with Nance, and she was very patient in explaining the process and talking us through some initial things that we were struggling with. Then, we started with a training package that included 3 private training classes and 2 months of group obedience classes. We also went to a few puppy kindergarten classes. Nicole did the majority of our trainings and she has been a god-sent. She is very good with the dogs, and her energy level makes the training classes fun both for us and our dog. We learned a lot from Nicole and she helped us to feel a lot less stressed out and actually enjoy the puppyhood. The obedience class is set up like a monthly subscription, where you can go to as many classes as you want. We end up going about 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes, as it is a great activity to mentally exercise our dog and provide socialization while working alongside other dogs. We also started bringing our dog to their dog day camp 2x a week. Tim was also very patient in explaining the process. The dog day camp has been great in getting her to play with other dogs and allows her to learn obedience from others aside from us.

It's remarkable to see the progress that they make with her and how much they enjoy their training sessions! Nance adapts her training sessions to the needs of the individual dog and she is quick to assess how they learn best. She is always patient, kind, and encouraging. We are so lucky to have her expertise, she has changed the lives of so many dogs!

Caylee, Sadie, and Danielle (No longer there she opened her own grooming salon) are fabulous. Caylee does a beautiful job on our standard poodle. Sadie and Danielle groomed our late toy poodle. We were always thrilled! Caylee had to cancel our appointment, so we booked Emily because the man that called recommended her. We bring our dog to be groomed every month, so when Emily made the snotty comment that she was a mess when we dropped her off yesterday, I KNEW that she wasn't very good. I mean for goodness sakes, we bring her more often than most people. Were you trying to cover up that you do a terrible job? Caylee never makes rude comments and makes her look like a beautiful princess. Emily hacked her. She shaved her tail without permission. It looks like a RAT'S long shaved tail!! I have never seen anything so terrible. Emily, how dare you! You should be ashamed of yourself. If you had called I would have told you that we would come and get her and don't you dare shave her tail! Yes, we will go back when Caylee can groom our little girl again. I would leave a picture, but I won't embarrass my little girl. She knows she looks ridiculous. I can't believe we paid $150.00 to be devastated. I hope my warning helps other sweet dogs from this horrendous experience. Since we have two dogs and with the prices most Vets charge today, we've been taking them too Petco Vaccination Clinics to save money. Recently, they would not renew our dogs Rx without seeing the dog first. My wife made an appointment, relayed to me how the dog acted/behaved, and mentioned the receptionist said sorry and felt bad for my wife having to bring the dog in. I finally became irate about the situation when coming back home yesterday from a few nights trip up north and hearing how bad he was with our neighbor/dog sitter. Both dogs were excited to see their owners as one would imagine. However, we could not get our 5 yr old GSP to calm down most of the afternoon when at that point I felt bad for the dog. Before anyone thinks "these dog owners have no idea the energy levels of a GSP (German Shorthaired Pointer)" I must add I'm 53 and have had this breed my entire life. The dog went 9 days without his meds because we had to make an appointment and be prescribed a new Rx. Granted they (WVCA) received from us 3 months ago a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian (Petco). In addition, VCA has changed their Rx process and will no longer accept eRx requests from outside pharmacy's (i.e. PedMeds, Chewy, etc..). Clients will either need to purchase medications through VCA ($$$$) or they can obtain a paper copy to send via snail mail to the outside pharmacy which further delays the process of obtaining medications. Trust me, there is no staffing shortage at VCA to handle such requests as there are about 2-3 receptionists at the front desk. Mind you, we were able to obtain 6 days' worth of medications for our dog, however, a 3 MONTHS supply from PedMeds is only $10 more than obtaining a 6 day supply at VCA!! Take this into consideration before choosing to take your pet there. As of today, we are done using them.
