I adopted my first cat from Guardian Angels a few months ago and Kim and Susan were so kind and helpful. It was clear to me that they really know each of their cats and care for them very well--they took the time to get to know me and understand what I was looking for, and suggested a cat who seemed like the perfect fit. They both were eager to answer all of my many questions throughout the process and even helped me out by dropping my new kitty off since I don't have a car. My girl had a few minor health issues after arriving (most likely due to the stress of moving/change in food) and Susan offered me advice about different things I could try and followed up numerous times to make sure she was settling in okay. The process overall couldn't have been any smoother and I am so appreciative of Guardian Angels and the care and diligence they put into finding good homes for all of their cats. Four months of learning and being impressed by two professional caring human beings have given this senior a humble perspective of how much of themselves some people put into caring for such needy cats. I cannot speak to this agencies care of cats because after requesting an application, I was berated for wanting a kitten. I found this rescue on petfinder and in the description, it said to send an email to request an application. We did so and explained a little bit about our current cat and what we were looking for (as requested). The email we got back was so rude and unprofessional (with select words like "hate" in all caps), we simply went to another cat shelter and adopted a different kitten. First, the person didn't even address us in the email or answer any of our initial questions and just launched into explaining our cat's behavior and how "stupid" it would be to get a kitten even though she has never met us or our cat. Luckily there are many other, more friendly and knowledgeable cat shelters out there and we immediately found one. I would not recommend this shelter to anyone. read more

Guardian Angels gets every kitten and cat to a health standard that makes each easy and ready for adoption. They live in the care of foster homes until ready for adoption. I know, I have gotten four amazingly beautiful cats from them, and have seen first hand the devotion and care each gets. Tireless is an understatement. As much as I love cats, I would get burned out after one week of round the clock care such as Guardian Angels provides. They are super stars and super heroes of the cat world. Their reasonable fees are always the same whether a cat has cost them $50 or $5,000 to bring to full health. They rely on donations as a non-profit to provide top notch care. They also work carefully to make sure the cat and the potential adopter are indeed a good match. They will not let a cat go home that is not healthy or yet socialized. Anyone looking to adopt a cat would do well to come to Guardian Angels , as they will get very detailed information about each cat's history and health background. read more

This all-cat rescue is the gold standard, setting the bar at what can be accomplished when a group of incredibly dedicated, tireless, caring rescue volunteers work together to save the lives of needy, homeless cats and kittens. There is no physical shelter building, all rescues live in the homes of the volunteers getting whatever TLC, socialization and medical care they need before being put up for adoption. This allows their rescues to live in a safe home setting, out of cages. GACR is a registered 501(c) non-profit which uses all adoption fees towards defraying the costs of the food and medical costs associated with fostering. Prior to being placed in permanent homes all cats are spayed/neutered, immunized, dewormed, microchipped along with anything else needed. The same adoption fee is requested regardless if hundreds or even thousands of dollars were spent on surgeries, medications, etc. I discovered this rescue 5 years ago when I adopted a wonderful pair of kittens that had been rescued from outside at 3 wks old and bottle fed for several weeks by one of the owners before they started eating on their own. I have since sent many happy referrals their way. Without a physical shelter building they rely on the wonderful Especially for Pets chain which allows them to show their adoptable kitties on Saturdays so that potential adopters can meet the cats and fill out an application. It doesn't get any better than Guardian Angels Cat Rescue. We adopted our two kitties from them last summer and they are doing excellent. Kim, one of the co-founders, knows each cat's personality and demeanor and will match their fur-ever home with this information. The adoption process was pretty easy. As kittens, my two came spayed and neutered, micro-chipped, dewormed and vaccinated prior to adoption. My male cat, Sake, was licking his wound and it got infected shortly after we brought them home. I called Kim instead of bringing him to the vet as she advised me to do and she was able to handle his problem at her home. It takes so much time and energy to care for the cats they bring in and they do it lovingly. They only adopt out kitten in pairs but if you are looking for two adorable kitties or a mature cat, you won't regret going to Guardian Angels Cat Rescue.
