He is a highly skilled yet personable and patient guide that will make your fishing experience one to remember. Our trip involved taking my 14 yo son out in his first fly fishing outing and he managed not only to keep this 24x7 video gamer interested but excited and enthusiastic about our day-long outing. He also somehow managed to spend several minutes to show me some new casting techniques while quickly moving back and forth dealing with snags, tangles and the many fish unhooking and picture duties. Our trip was along the Crooked River, a local hot spot which hosts both native rainbow trout and whitefish. They must do something special to these fish who fight like ones many times their actual size. These entertaining fish are plentiful but smart, so knowing the proper flies and techniques will save you many hours of trial and error here. This is a truly special area that is both spectacularly beautiful and highly productive for the skilled fly fisherman. I've been in several guided outings but few have rivaled the completely satsifying trip we did with Rivers Bend. If you plan to fly fish in the Bend area, you will regret not spending your day with Rivers Bend.

He thought a fishing trip would be something that i would enjoy (even though neither of us were fishermen at all) He booked a 2-3 day guided tour through the Fly Fishers Place and it was an absolute adventure that i still to this day will remember for the rest of my life. The booking process was smooth and Tye (owner) called me back to confirm and make sure everything was clear about the meeting place, fishing licenses, gear, etc. Our guide also called and texted the day before to see if we had any questions and to reconfirm the meeting place. We had 3 children (10, 10 & 8) in our group and our guide Dylan was amazing. He was super patient with the kids and got them very interested in fishing. I was expecting them to stop after an hour but the kids loved it so much, they fished for the entire 4 hours. I would definitely book another fishing day with them the next time we're up in Central Oregon.

Pioneer Reach comprises the portion of the Deschutes River Trail that passes through downtown Bend…read more From the north going south, it starts south of the First Street Rapids (the FS rapids are actually in the River Run section), continues along the river at Pioneer Park and Pacific Park, jumps in-town along Brooks Alley, back to the river along Drake Park and then south to Millers Landing Park/McKay Park just shy of the Old Mill district. As such, it's a pretty well-traveled section of the trail. I think it epitomizes one of the great features of the city: easy access to beautiful walking paths.

This part of the Deschutes River Trail is gorgeous, but not my favorite. It takes you by first…read morestreet Rapids, which I typically drool over (because I really want a kayak) when I pass by. This section of the river will take you by a canyon with nice trees and a swan or two. It is pretty wide, making it great for groups, bikes and baby strollers. This trail will take you by Pioneer Park or Firt Street Rapids Park, which are nothing to overlook themselves. There is not much uphill and is a pretty short section of the trail. I typically take this trail when I am hiking from the other sections of the Deschutes river trial. Overall I wouldnt choose this section of the Deschutes River Trail over the North or the Old Mill sectoins in town, but it is a nice option if you are close by.

They also make sure you have the necessary skills to safely climb the mountain and provide the instruction in an easy to understand and comfortable way. The Silcox Hut is an amazing surprise to this program by providing comfortable and surprisingly luxurious accommodations for being situated halfway up a mountain! The "hut keeper" Steve was not only welcoming and an amazing host but an incredible cook providing delicious and varied dishes. Our guide, Max, was a knowledgeable, helpful and very patient person. His professionalism and experience were evident throughout the trip and made sure we made it safely to the summit and back down. I would specifically ask for him when you book your trip!
